What if the future God promises is not a vague cloud but a home so rich with joy that your fears of “missing out” finally go quiet? We open the morning with a bold claim: heaven is not a downgrade from your best dreams but their fulfillment beyond measure. Using a child’s story about a small bird in a rusty cage carried into a vast, sunlit forest, we reframe our anxieties about eternity and connect them to the deep human ache for meaning, presence, and belonging.
Along the way, we name the honest questions many of us carry: Will eternity be boring? What about milestones we never reached? Are we leaving beauty behind? Instead of dismissing those questions, we answer them with a clearer vision of God’s goodness. Heaven is presence with Christ, not an endless loop of sameness; it is discovery, communion, and beauty without decay. It is reunions—meeting the heroes of the faith, embracing loved ones, and dwelling where, God, the architect of all good things has designed a home that truly fits.

If your morning needs a lift, this five-minute practice aims your heart toward hope you can trust, turning fear into anticipation and heaviness into praise. Take this moment with us, then share it with someone who needs courage for the day. If this encourages you, follow the show, leave a review, and pass it along—what image of paradise stirred you most today?

Welcome And Daily Five-Minute Start

SPEAKER_00

Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mack. I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day. So grab your cup of coffee, sit back, relax, and let me help you start your day right. Over the last couple days, my Bible readings have all been about the kingdom of heaven, what a tremendous place it will be, and the things that are being prepared for us when we get there. I know it's going to blow our minds when we get to meet the people of Scripture and all of our family members who got there ahead of us. I'm so looking forward to seeing my dad again and meeting the apostles and sitting down and having lunch with them. And all the other great Christian leaders and people of faith who have gone before us. Man, it is going to be party time, and I'm looking forward to it so very, very much. And then to be in the presence of Almighty God. Wow, that's going to be something incredible. But I know there are times in the back of our minds where although we are excited about going to heaven, there's this little niggling thought in the back of our minds that says what are you ever going to do for eternity? And will we miss what we didn't get to do or have here on this earth? I've heard some people say they don't want the Lord come until they get married, or they don't want the Lord to come until they've had children, or they don't want the Lord to come until they've been able to do something else that's very important to them. They feel that if they go to heaven before they do those things they're going to miss out and somehow regret it. I think that really comes because we really don't understand what heaven is like. So this morning I want to read to you a story. This is from a children's book describing heaven to a child. Here's what it says Imagine you are a little bird who lives in a tiny cage of rusty metal, and inside your cage you have a food dish, and a little mirror, and a tiny perch to swing on. Then one day some kind person takes your cage to a big beautiful forest. The forest is splashed with sunlight, proud towering trees cover the hills and valleys as far as you can see. There are gushing waterfalls and bushes drooping with purple berries and fruit trees and carpets of wild flowers and a wide blue sky to fly in. And besides all of those things, there are millions of other little birds hopping from one green limb to another and eating their fill, and raising their little families and singing their hearts out all day long. Now, little bird, can you imagine wanting to stay in your cage? Can you imagine saying, Oh please don't let me go? I will miss my cage. I will miss my little food dish with seeds in it. I will miss my plastic mirror with a tiny little perch. I might get bored in that big forest. That would be silly, wouldn't it? And it's just as silly to think we might run out of things to do in heaven. The place that God has prepared for us. The Bible tells us it's going to be an incredible place. Remember the words of Jesus as he spoke to the thief beside him who believed that Jesus was the Messiah? Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you today you will be with me in paradise. Paradise. A place where you really, really want to go, and all the best and most beautiful things are waiting for you. Over in first Corinthians chapter two and verse nine, we're also told that no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. We try to imagine what it might be like in heaven, and the story of the bird in the cage is not a bad analogy for us, but even it falls far, far short of what it's going to be like to be in the presence of God, living in the place that He has prepared for us forever. I have no doubt that we will never get bored. I have no doubt that we will never regret what we have left behind in this world. We're going to have a lot of fun. We're going to like it there. God is good. God has a place prepared for us. One more verse for you this morning from John chapter fourteen verse two. Jesus is speaking and says, In my father's house are many mansions. If it were not so I would have told you, I go and prepare a place for you. Jesus has built a spectacular place for each one of us. And it's not going to be some apartment building with paper thin walls. No, it's going to be our own home in heaven to live in forever. And it's going to be beautiful because Jesus, the author of all things good and perfect, is the architect, and he has designed it to be all things good and perfect for you and for me. God is good, and his love for us is never ending. So never let yourself worry about what you might miss if Jesus comes back. I trust that whatever He has prepared for us, it is far greater than we can imagine or think because we can't even begin to relate to what heaven is like. I'm looking forward to it, and I hope you are too. Have a great day, my friends. We'll talk again tomorrow. Thank you for listening today, and I invite you to join me Monday to Friday right here on Starting Right with Danny Mack.
