We talk about community impact, sports as a vehicle for healing and empowerment, and the incredible story of how a world-class sports facility rose from an empty field to a nationally recognized destination.
Adrian’s story is a masterclass in heart-led leadership, grit, and creating something extraordinary out of pure purpose.
📍Filmed on-site in Naples, FL — this is one you don’t want to miss!
In this episode of Spotlight on Good People, we sit down with a woman whose life is the very definition of showing up for those who need it most — Linda Goldfield, CEO of Youth Haven in Naples, Florida.
Youth Haven isn’t just a shelter — it’s a lifeline for children and teens in our community who have been displaced by abuse, neglect, or homelessness. And at the center of that mission is Linda — a leader who calls herself “just an average girl doing good work” — but whose impact tells a much bigger story.
In this conversation, Linda shares:
- Her journey into nonprofit leadership
- The heartbreak and hope of working with vulnerable kids
- The power of being a consistent adult in a child’s life
- The $20 million dream project she’s leading to expand mental health services at Youth Haven
- The lessons that have shaped her into the kind of leader who leads with heart first, every single time.
Topics We Cover:
- Why showing up is the work
- Building trust with kids who’ve been let down
- How to stay grounded doing emotionally heavy work
- Leadership lessons learned in the trenches
- The legacy Linda hopes to leave behind
- And why she believes “you find what you seek”
- This is a conversation about heart work (and hard work) and what happens when a good person decides to use their life to lift others.

A native of Montreal, Paul Arsenault grew up in Hingham, MA, where his love for the sea and travel emerged. After graduating from the Art Institute of Boston in 1973, he began a six-month stint as a deckhand on a research vessel. He signed off in Florida in 1974 and began his professional painting career. With Naples as his base, he has embarked on painting trips to the Caribbean, Central and South America, Asia, the South Pacific, Indonesia, Australia, Hawaii, Europe, and the Middle East.
Paul’s early exposure to and knowledge of working ports and exotic harbors, combined with his talent for zeroing in immediately on the essence of a place, have made him a popular choice for commissions requiring extensive yet efficient travel. Paintings from these trips hang in public places and private and corporate collections around the world.
Annual fundraising shows have been a hallmark of his career, and since l983, these have benefited a variety of non-profit organizations devoted to health, environmental protection, and historic preservation.
Paul’s vibrant and widely collected paintings reflect a rhythm and pattern that distinguish his easily recognizable style. His lifelong pursuit to paint contemporary life in coastal communities is enhanced by his passion for history and his natural storytelling ability.
Paul and his wife Eileen live in Naples, Florida. Arsenault Studio & Banyan Arts Gallery is located a stones-throw from their historic home and vintage cottages that are nestled under a grand banyan tree. The Banyan Arts Social and Pleasure Club, a publishing division of Arsenault Studios, was inspired by the artists, writers, musicians, and preservations who have stayed at their artful compound over its nearly one-hundred-year history.

Our stylists are very special! We select and train them the ROP way. They are not independent contractors and they are not paid on commission so they work together as a team sharing creative knowledge to give you the best possible look. This is very rare in the salon business. They train extensively to be a stylist in our Salons. Most of them have trained 2000 to 3000 hours in addition to their cosmetology school.
Our salons feature an edgy, upscale look without the attitude . The Salon culture thrives on kindness and positivity.

Millennials Want to Live Outside the 9-to-5
Millennials don’t necessarily want to do more work than other generations, they just want to be able to do the same amount of work in a more flexible schedule. In fact, when flexibility is leveraged work productivity increases and the volume of work can increase. Many Millennials don’t see a reason for spending eight straight hours working, but would rather work at various times throughout the day with breaks in between. Generally this cohort doesn’t have a problem doing some work on a Sunday evening, but also want to be able to run a few errands on Wednesday afternoon.

The employer-based model in the salon industry is shrinking as salon professionals move to freelance work arrangements o There is tremendous pressure on salon professionals to move to freelance situations where there are fewer rules, regulations and tax reporting oversight. o Providing these small business salons with the Section 45B FICA tax tip credit would provide liquidity to reopen their businesses and pay employees, with a source of funds in the future to repay loans and keep their businesses open. o When salons are able to reopen, they will have an easier time retaining their employees because they will have certainty that the FICA tax imposed on tips their employees receive from third parties (these tips are not revenue for the business) will be reimbursed and will not increase their financial burden.

This it the anniversary week of the beginning of it all.
The state of the salon industry We are watching the collapse of the beauty industry. Between February and April 2020, the number of jobs at employment-based salons dropped by 84%, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Only 93,000 people were on payroll at employment-based salons in April — down from 569,000 in February. This represents the fewest number of salon jobs in well over five decades.

surrounding yourself with the best so you can be your best. Gaining weight and losing weight. 10 years since the passing of Aubrey. Why do some people make you feel so bad while others make you feel so good? Realizing that everything we consume will either heal us or poison us. Who are we nourishing ourselves with?
Essential Food
Nothing can survive without food. Everything we consume acts either to heal us or to poison us. We tend to think of nourishment only as what we eat through our mouths; but what we consume with our eyes, our ears, our nose, our tongue, and our body is also food. The conversations going on around us, and those we participate in, are also food. Are we consuming and creating the kind of food that is healthy for us and helps us grow?
