#59 - What exactly is Restorative Justice?
Show Notes

Traditionally, punishment for crimes committed is often imprisonment, but it's rare when incarceration changes the convicted criminal for the better. In this time of such division, anger and violence especially related to communities of color, the concept of Restorative Justice is being talked about more often. For perpetrators, restorative justice involves education and rehabilitation rather than imprisonment. For victims, it means stronger physical, emotional and psychological support from the community. So is restorative justice the answer to the growing problem of violent crime, hate, a broken prison system, controversial policing? May has a very honest talk with David Ryan Barcega Castro-Harris, founder of Amplify RJ, about these issues. Both share some ideas that some might find off-putting and/or controversial, but please keep in mind that their intention is to inform by having tough conversations that can sometimes be uncomfortable.
