Starting the morning off with God is the key to strength and success in your day. Good morning. Today is Monday, november tenth, twenty twenty five. Memorial of Saint Leo the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church. Please join me in praying the morning offering prayer and prayers for our Holy Father. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day, for all the intentions of your sacred heart, in union with the holy sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the holy intentions of the Holy Father this month, amen. Prayers for the Holy Father Almighty and everlasting God, have mercy upon thy servant, Pope Leo XV, our Supreme Pontiff, and direct him according to thy loving kindness in the way of eternal salvation, that of thy gift he may ever desire that which is pleasing unto thee, and may accomplish it with all his might, through Christ our Lord, amen. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, amen. Meditation of the Day an excerpt from Mystical City of God by Venerable Mary of Agretta, page eighty five. Voluntary poverty restores to man the nobility of his condition, liberating him from vile servitude and reinstating him his noble freedom and mastery of all things. The soul is never more a mistress than when she despises them, and only then has she the more firm possession and makes the more excellent use of riches when she gives them away or leaves them of her own free will. Only then her appetite for them is best satiated when she does not care to possess them. Then above all is the heart set free and made capable of the treasures of the divinity, for which it is furnished by the Creator with almost infinite capacity. Scripture verse of the day But you, O Lord, know me, you see me and test me. My heart is with you. Jeremiah chapter twelve verse three. Saint of the day. The saint of the day for november tenth is Pope Saint Leo the Great. Pope Saint Leo the Great lived between four hundred and four hundred sixty one AD. He was born in Tuscany to an aristocratic family. After serving as deacon under two popes, he became the Roman pontiff from four hundred forty to four hundred one AD. He was one of the greatest holy fathers the Church has known. He was the first pope, and one of only two, to bear the title Great. He guided the Church through the turbulence of the collapse of the Roman Empire, waves of barbarian invasions, widespread disintegration of morality, and many dangerous heresies, including Pelagianism and Manichaeanism. His feats include persuading the Emperor Valentinian to recognize the primacy of the Bishop of Rome, preventing a doctrinal split in the Eastern Churches, persuading Attila the Hun to turn back and forsake his invasion of Italy, and convincing the Vandals under their leader Genseric not to pillage the city of Rome or harm its inhabitants. He championed the Church and the Catholic faith in an uncertain era by maintaining unity, defending Orthodox doctrine with clarity, and preaching vigorously against false teaching. By his strong influence he changed the course of European history. He was known not only as a leader of the Church, but also as the protector of all of Rome. Pronounced a doctor of the Church in seventeen fifty four, many of his writings survive today. Saint Leo the Great, pray for us. Devotion of the Month November is the month of the Holy Souls. The Catholic Church dedicates the entire month of November to praying in a special way for the holy souls in purgatory. The holy souls, also called the faithful departed, are members of the Church, who await the purification of their souls before joining the saints in heaven for all eternity. Specifically, they are referred to as the church suffering, the saints in heaven are the church triumphant, and the faithful on earth are the church militant. The poor souls in purgatory cannot pray for themselves or do anything to hasten their entrance into heaven, but we can and ought to pray for them as an act of charity. Readings for Holy Mass for Monday of the thirty second week in ordinary time. A reading from the Book of Wisdom chapter one verses one through seven. Love justice, you who judge the earth, think of the Lord in goodness, and seek him in integrity of heart, because he is found by those who test him not, and he manifests himself to those who do not disbelieve him. For perverse counsels separate a man from God, and his power put to the proof, rebukes the foolhardy, because into a soul that plots evil, wisdom enters not, nor dwells she in a body under dead of sin. For the Holy Spirit of discipline flees deceit and withdraws from senseless counsels, and when injustice occurs it is rebuked, for wisdom is a kindly spirit, yet she acquits not the blasphemer of his guilty lips, because God is the witness of his inmost self and the sure observer of his heart and the listener to his tongue, for the Spirit of the Lord fills the world, is all embracing, and knows what man says. The Word of the Lord Responsorial Psalm Psalm one hundred thirty nine Guide me, Lord along the everlasting way. O Lord, you have probed me and you know me, you know when I sit and when I stand, you understand my thoughts from afar, my journeys and my rest you scrutinize, with all my ways you are familiar. Guide me, Lord along the everlasting way. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know the whole of it. Behind me and before, you hem me in and rest your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Guide me, Lord along the everlasting way. Where can I go from your spirit? From your presence where can I flee? If I go up to the heavens, you are there. If I sink to the netherworld, you are present there. Guide me, Lord along the everlasting way. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I settle at the farthest limits of the sea, even there your hand shall guide me, and your right hand hold me fast. Guide me, Lord along the everlasting way. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke, chapter seventeen verses one six. Jesus said to his disciples Things that cause sin will inevitably occur, but woe to the one through whom they occur. It would be better for him if a millstone were put around his neck and he be thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. Be on your guard, if your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he wrongs you seven times in one day and returns to you seven times saying, I am sorry, you should forgive him. And the apostle said to the Lord, Increase our faith. The Lord replied, If you have the faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, be uprooted and planted in the sea, and it would obey you. The Gospel of the Lord Prayer of Spiritual Communion In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there, and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen. Morning Glory Consecration Prayer. Mary, my mother, I give myself totally to you as your possession and property. Please make of me, of all that I am and have, whatever most pleases you. Let me be a fit instrument in your immaculate and merciful hands for bringing the greatest possible glory to God. Amen. Prayer to Saint Joseph. O glorious Saint Joseph, chosen by God to be the guardian of the Holy Family, whose protection is so great, so strong, in union with the Blessed Virgin Mary and our Savior Jesus Christ, send down from heaven a blessing from God to protect us from any harm, strengthen us in body, soul, and spirit. We ask this through thy powerful intercession. Holy Family, pray for us, amen. Guardian Angel Prayer O angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide, amen. Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel. Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray, and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl throughout the world, seeking the ruin of souls, amen. The three Hail Mary's Devotion The first Hail Mary, in honor of God the Father. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. The second Hail Mary, in honor of God the Son. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. The third Hail Mary, in honor of God, the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. O my mother, preserve my soul from mortal sin during this day. Amen. Memori to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence I fly unto thee, O Virgin of Virgins, my mother, to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O mother of the Word incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen. Act of Faith. O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe that your divine Son became man, died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because you have revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived. In this faith I intend to live and die. Amen. Act of hope. O my God, relying on your almighty power, infinite mercy and promises, I hope to obtain pardon for my sins, the help of your grace, and the life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer. Amen. Act of love. O my God, I love you above all things with my whole heart and soul, because you are all good and worthy of all love. I love my neighbor as myself for the love of you. I forgive all who have injured me, and ask pardon of all whom I have injured. Amen. Prayer for the poor souls in purgatory. O gentle heart of Jesus, ever present in the Blessed Sacrament, ever consumed with burning love for the poor captive souls in purgatory, have mercy on them. Be not severe in thy judgment, but let some drops of thy precious blood fall upon the devouring flames. Merciful Savior, send thy angels to conduct them to a place of refreshment, light, and peace. Amen. Act of resignation to the divine will. O Lord my God, from this moment do I accept from thy hands with burning love and sincere contrition, with a calm and willing disposition, whatsoever death thou shalt choose to send me with its pains and griefs.
