SPEAKER_00:

Starting the morning off with God is the key to strength and success in your day. Good morning. Today is Friday, January 16th, 2026. Please join me in praying the morning offering prayer and prayers for our Holy Father. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day, for all the intentions of your sacred heart, in union with the holy sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the holy intentions of the Holy Father this month, amen. Prayers for the Holy Father Almighty and everlasting God, have mercy upon thy servant, Pope Leo XV, our supreme pontiff, and direct him according to thy loving kindness in the way of eternal salvation, that of thy gift he may ever desire that which is pleasing unto thee, and may accomplish it with all his might, through Christ our Lord, amen. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, amen. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen. Quote from Saint Angela Maurice And above all, be on your guard not to want to get anything done by force, because God has given free will to everyone and wants to force no one, but only proposes, invites, and counsels. Meditation of the Day an excerpt from Trustful Surrender to Divine Providence, The Secret of Peace and Happiness by Father Jean Baptiste Saint Jur SJ and Saint Claude Des Colombier SJ Pages thirty two thirty seven The conforming of our will to God's is not limited to the attainment of our eternal salvation, it also has the effect of making us happy on this earth. It will give us the most perfect peace it is possible to experience in life and is the means of making this world a foretaste of heaven. O that thou hast hearkened to my commandments, God said to Israel, thy peace had been as a river. Isaiah forty eight eighteen. Eliphaz, one of Job's three friends, likewise says to him, Come to terms with him to be at peace, for then you shall delight in the almighty, and you shall lift up your face towards God. Job chapter twenty two verses twenty one twenty six. It is this that the angel sang at the birth of our Savior, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men of good will. Luke chapter two verse fourteen Who are these men of good will but those whose wills are in harmony with the supremely good will of God? A will that is otherwise disposed must necessarily be a bad will, incapable of obtaining the peace promised to men of good will. It cannot be denied, however, that human nature finds the idea of suffering, humiliation, even poverty almost incompatible with the idea of happiness, so that it is really a miracle of grace when we can be happy in such circumstances. But this miracle always mercifully accompanies the sacrifices of one who seeks to do the will of God in all things, for it is to God's honor and glory that those who give themselves generously to his service should be content with their lot. It may perhaps be asked how it is possible to reconcile this with the words of Christ. If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Luke chapter nine twenty three. If in this place our divine master requires his disciples to deny themselves and carry his cross after him, elsewhere he promises solemnly to give them not only life everlasting, but a hundredfold all things they deny themselves to please him in this life Matthew chapter nineteen twenty nine. He further promises to ease the burden of his cross so as to lighten it, for he not only says that his yoke is sweet, but adds that his burden is light Matthew eleven thirty. If then we do not experience the sweetness of Christ's yoke, nor the lightness of the burden of the cross, it must be because we have not yet made the denial of our will and completely given up our human outlook so as to consider things in the light of faith. This divine light would enable us to give thanks to God in all things one Thessalonians chapter five verse eighteen, as we are taught by Saint Paul. It would be for us the beginning of that great joy that the apostle urges us to have always. Scripture verse of the day for he rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians chapter one verses thirteen through fourteen. Saint of the day. The saint of the day for january sixteenth is Saint Priscilla of Rome. Saint Priscilla of Rome lived in the first century. She was a Christian noblewoman who served as a benefactor to the Christian community in Rome. She supported Saint Peter the Apostle, the first bishop of Rome, and her home near the catacomb served as his headquarters. She was the wife of Mannius Assilius Glabrio, a Roman politician who was executed by the Emperor Domitian for atheism, that is, his refusal to worship the Roman gods because he was a Christian. Priscilla buried him in what was once a quarry and donated the property to the church so that others could also be laid to rest there. Her catacombs, known since the earliest days of Christianity as the Catacombs of Priscilla, are also referred to as the Queen of the Catacombs, because such a large number of martyrs and popes were buried there. It also holds a significant collection of early Christian iconography, including the earliest known depiction of the Madonna and Child. Saint Priscilla was also martyred for her Christian faith and buried there. Saint Priscilla of Rome, pray for us. Readings for Holy Mass for Friday of the first week in ordinary time. A reading from the first book of Samuel, chapter eight verses four through seven and ten through twenty two. All the elders of Israel came in a body to Samuel at Rama and said to him, Now that you are old and your sons do not follow your example, appoint a king over us, as other nations have, to judge us. Samuel was displeased when they asked for a king to judge them. He prayed to the Lord, however, who said in answer, Grant the peoples every request, it is not you they reject, they are rejecting me as their king. Samuel delivered the message of the Lord in full to those who were asking him for a king. He told them, The rights of the king who will rule you will be as follows He will take your sons and assign them to his chariots and horses, and they will run before his chariot. He will also appoint from them his commanders of groups of a thousand and of a hundred soldiers. He will set them to do his ploughing and his harvesting, and to make his implements of war and the equipment of his chariots. He will use your daughters as ointment makers, as cooks, and as bakers. He will take the best of your fields, vineyards, and olive groves, and give them to his officials. He will tithe your crops and your vineyards, and give the revenue to his eunuchs and his slaves. He will take your male and female servants, as well as your best oxen and your asses, and use them to do his work. He will tithe your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. When this takes place, you will complain against the king whom you have chosen, but on that day the Lord will not answer you. The people, however, refused to listen to Samuel's warning and said, Not so, there must be a king over us. We too must be like other nations, with a king to rule us and to lead us in warfare and to fight our battles. When Samuel had listened to all the people had to say, he repeated it to the Lord, who then said to him, Grant their request and appoint a king to rule them. The Word of the Lord. Responsorial Psalm Psalm eighty nine for ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord. Blessed the people who know the joyful shout, in the light of your countenance, O Lord, they walk. At your name they rejoice all the day, and through your justice they are exalted. Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord. For you are the splendor of their strength, and by your favor our horn is exalted, for to the Lord belongs our shield, and to the Holy One of Israel, our king. Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord. A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark, chapter two verses one through twelve. When Jesus returned to Capernaum after some days it became known that he was at home. Many gathered together so that there was no longer room for them, not even around the door, and he preached the word to them. They came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd, they opened up the roof above him. After they had broken through, they let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to him, Child, your sins are forgiven. Now some of the scribes were sitting there asking themselves, Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming. Who but God alone can forgive sins? Jesus immediately knew in his mind what they were thinking to themselves, so he said, Why are you thinking such things in your hearts? Which is easier to say to the paralytic, your sins are forgiven, or to say, Rise, pick up your mat and walk. But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority to forgive sins on earth, he said to the paralytic, I say to you, rise, pick up your mat, and go home. He rose, pick up his mat at once, and went away in the sight of everyone. They were all astounded and glorified God, saying, We have never seen anything like this The Gospel of the Lord Prayer of Spiritual Communion In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most blessed sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen. Morning Glory Consecration Prayer Mary, my mother, I give myself totally to you as your possession and property. Please make of me, of all that I am and have, whatever most pleases you. Let me be a fit instrument in your immaculate and merciful hands for bringing the greatest possible glory to God. Amen. Prayer to Saint Joseph. O glorious Saint Joseph, chosen by God to be the guardian of the Holy Family, whose protection is so great, so strong, in union with the Blessed Virgin Mary and our Savior Jesus Christ, send down from heaven a blessing from God to protect us from any harm, strengthen us in body, soul, and spirit. O mother of the Word incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen. Act of Faith. O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
