The WOW Podcast with Jude Kelly
Featuring Mary Robinson and Hindou Ibrahim on Climate Justice, and a conversation between two young woman celebrated at this year's With and For Girls Awards
Climate Justice: A Man-Made Problem with a Feminist Solution - what does this actually mean? Listen in to a group of the world's leading climate change and social justice activists to discover why the collective action of women is fundamental to addressing the climate crisis. Speakers include Mary Robinson, First female President of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Hindou Ibrahim, Co-Chair of the International Indigenous Peoples Forum on Climate Change.
Next up is an unmissable intimate conversation between two inspiration young women working for organisations recognised at this year's With and For Girls Awards at WOW. 16-year-old Sontee Davis from Jamaica talks about her work with Eve For Life, an organisation founded in 2008 in response to a dire need for support for women and children living with or affected by HIV and AIDS. She's joined by 19-year-old Favour Chukwugolum from Nigeria's Girls Voices Initative, a nonprofit that works to educate adolescent girls and women about their rights in law. They talk about what motivated them to get into their fields, from gender based violence to witnessing the stigma of living with HIV.
Plus, don't miss a performance by Shingai of War Drums. Shingai, the platinum-selling front woman and bassist from Noisettes, has a new album coming out very soon. Listen to more of her work here
