The WOW Podcast with Jude Kelly
Featuring Mary Portas, plus what does financial resilience mean to you?
For centuries women have been locked out of financial decisions – it was only in 1975 where women in the UK could open a bank account in their own name and there is no country in the world where men and women have official economic equality. In this episode we explore finances - understanding money and personal finance brings opportunities, benefits and freedom. First up there is a clip 'Your Money or Your Life: Personal Finance' from 2020's WOW Festival in London. Money Saving Expert’s Kirsty Good, co-founder of SmartPurse, Olga Miller and WOW's Daniella Jenkins, a researcher in pension inequalities, discuss what financial resilience means to them and how we can take control of our finances.
Next up is an interview with Mary Portas, retail expert, broadcaster, author & founder of Mary’s Living & Giving charity shops. She talks to Jude Kelly about life in lockdown, her incredible career to date, and reimagining a non-patriarchal system in the world of business.
Plus, don't miss a performance by Sarah Yaseen, a Manchester based Sufi Singer and songwriter. Sarah's raw acapella / cantata style takes the audience into her world of emotions and feelings of love, faith and personal struggle a new album coming out very soon.
