Karen is the current Executive Director of the publication “Canada's National Observer”. Previously, she was the managing editor of investigations at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), and the executive director of news and current affairs at the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN).
She received the 2022 National Newspaper Award in the “Columns” category for three powerful pieces written after the discovery of unmarked graves on the grounds of the former Kamloops Indian residential school.
