Episode 162 – Interview with Topher, he’s on a mission to tell everyone “God is good!”
This is a powerful testimony of grit, perseverance, and true transformation.
Most people know Christopher Trivette as “Topher”. He was born in Latvia, was abused at a young age, lost a third of his brain, and then acquired cerebral palsy. His parents dropped him off at an orphanage, and he was adopted by an American Christian family at the age of four.
His adopted Mother was actually on a mission trip, handing out Bibles in honor of her grandfather’s ministry, and ended up meeting Topher as a very young boy while visiting homes around the orphanage. God worked in a powerful way throughout that entire adoption process.
Probably due to his upbringing and his abusive treatment at a young age, he became very rebellious toward his American adopted family members and others in the neighborhood and the schools.
Because of his disruptive behaviors, Topher was sent at the age of eleven to a Christian boarding school, and sadly, that was the last time he lived with his American family on a full-time basis.
As you’ll hear in this episode, Topher expressed extreme bouts of anger. He recalls screaming out to God with the question, “Why me God?” At the age of twelve, he first learned what it meant to completely surrender his heart and to become a fully devoted follower of Christ. However, his mental mindset still corrupted his thinking, so he didn’t fully surrender to the Lord until he was in his early twenties.
Today, Topher is a powerful warrior for Christ and loves to share scriptures with anyone and everyone he encounters.
Some of his favorite verses are Romans 12:2, and then he particularly loves 2nd Corinthians chapter 10 and verses 3 through 6. These are just a few he highlights during the interview.
