Episode 164 – Fred Stoeker, Best-Selling Author of the “Every Man” series
Fred Stoeker and his wife of forty years, Brenda, reside in the Des Moines, Iowa area. God has given Fred a voice in His Kingdom to share all that he’s learned about how to defend our vulnerable lies, grow into true manhood, and for husbands to connect fully with their spouses.
Since growing up in Iowa, and then going on to graduate from Stanford University, he has become a best-selling author of the “Every Man” series, and Fred is a conference speaker who challenges men to become sexually pure while reconnecting in truly intimate relationships with their wives. He also encourages both men and women to rise-up and to live a Christian lifestyle, rather than simply doing a Christian life.
In this episode, he talks about being hooked on visual sexual sin and masturbation. But now he shares his experience and life change that came about through God's grace and self-control and self-discipline (fruit of the Spirit). He challenges men and women to realize that they can be set free, for good. Fred’s life change took place over thirty years – that was the last time he was lusting and masturbating, after going to his computer and TV for pleasure.
Here's how Fred describes his journey. “First, I engaged the battle. Second, I listened closely to God's leading on the next steps. There are two vulnerabilities in male
sexuality that makes it easy to fall into sexual sin. The first vulnerability is that of the eyes and mind. I wrote the book “Every Man's Battle” to discuss how to set up the defenses for that vulnerability. The second one is the tie between our sexuality and
our wounds, stress, and pain. I called this the Stealth Vulnerability, and my wife Brenda and I have recently written “Battle On, Battle Over” to teach men and women how to defend this vulnerability”.
Fred has been nominated for numerous writing awards; he’s won two Gold Medal Lion Awards and two Silver Medal Lion Awards for writing excellence.
