Episode 82 - Step 3, We Made a Decision
Show Notes

Step 3 calls for affirmative action, because it’s only by action that we can cut away the self-will that has always blocked the entry of God – or, if you like, a Higher Power – into our lives.

Are you someone who can’t understand why life is always so difficult? Does it seem like someone is always on your case? Do you find yourself wondering why people won’t listen to you? Are there times when you wonder why you struggle with anger?

I have a friend whose anger caused him to always be upset and off balance about something that didn’t fit the way he wanted things to go. He would become furious when no one would listen to his plan, his advice, or his way – which of course were better than anyone else’s because of his strong opinion about his own intelligence and vast experience.

Like my friend, you may wonder why people don’t want to be around you. In time, when you’re in the midst of compulsive and destructive behaviors, stress and loneliness leaves you feeling hopeless and depressed. You want to find another way.

In Step 3, we truly turn our will, our way, and our entire life over to God. Making the “decision” might seem simple but it’s not. Life has trained us to be skeptical and wary, thinking we should take charge of situations ourselves because we don’t trust anyone. As we come to Step 3, we decide to turn everything over to Him, let go, and ask for help. As we choose to give our will, our thinking, our decisions, and our behavior “to the care of God”, we become free from the bondage of life-stealing addictions.

Please don’t wait another day to make this life-changing and life-saving decision.
