It is one of the more advanced English verb tenses. It is helpful to know it when you want to talk about actions where time is not important, time is not specified, or the action is not finished.
Once you master the conjugation and usage, you'll be able to use it in sentences like, "I have studied English since I was a kid!" You'll notice in this sentence we're talking about something that has no clear start or end. The time is not important so we use the present perfect tense.

This verb conjugation is made up of the subject, the verb "to have" conjugated, and then the past participle of the verb.
