How to retire or resign…with honour!

Following recent newspaper reports about police officers behaving in a manner that demonstrated racism, sexism and a total disregard for the feelings and wellbeing of others, I got thinking about how many times this behaviour had gone unnoticed or unchallenged until it got so bad that Professional Standards had to get involved.

Are we as good as we think we are in the service at
calling out inappropriate behaviour?

And what does it take to lead a career of service, with
integrity and according to the Code of Ethics? 

The difference between retiring / resigning, or retiring
/ resigning with honour?
