Ekeberg","startTime":386.93,"endTime":391.61,"body":"with our own eyes, there is a huge spectrum of different wavelengths that we feel."},{"speaker":"Bjørn which aspects of sunlight are not so positive for us because we all understand the"},{"speaker":"Peter Bowes","startTime":435.4,"endTime":437.55,"body":"dangers of getting too much our cities and our neighborhoods that are"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":464.86,"endTime":469.75,"body":"really not designed for humans, like they are designed for factories to be able to"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":469.75,"endTime":472.54,"body":"produce something very specific to sell in the marketplace."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":472.54,"endTime":476.8,"body":"And then later it's tested and it shows that it's actually you have some kinds of light"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":476.8,"endTime":481.78,"body":"can give an adverse effect and disrupt melatonin balance in the body."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":481.78,"endTime":484.78,"body":"And these kinds of issues are becoming more and more known."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":484.78,"endTime":487.3,"body":"So we have a lot of artificial light that's not healthy for us."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":487.3,"endTime":494.23,"body":"And we have often a kind of a fear of sunlight for fear of mixing with sunburn."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":494.23,"endTime":500.35,"body":"But our most important source of energy, of all things we know, is the sun like we are"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Bowes","startTime":524.8,"endTime":532.24,"body":"sunlight on our circadian rhythms, the 24 hour rhythm that our body becomes accustomed to"},{"speaker":"Peter Bowes","startTime":532.24,"endTime":537.79,"body":"and is modified by exposure to light and the importance of exposure to light, at least in"},{"speaker":"Peter Bowes","startTime":537.79,"endTime":543.4,"body":"my view, as early as possible in your day to set that circadian rhythm perhaps into the"},{"speaker":"Peter Bowes","startTime":543.4,"endTime":545.17,"body":"next stage, the wake up stage."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":545.17,"endTime":548.53,"body":"Yeah, indeed. And this is where red light therapy can really help is."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":548.53,"endTime":554.32,"body":"One of the aspects, for example, is that you can stimulate the body's own physiological"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":554.32,"endTime":559.36,"body":"response to sunlight because you are feeding it energy at the same wavelengths basically"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":559.36,"endTime":561.43,"body":"that you are exposed to in, in daylight."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":561.43,"endTime":566.05,"body":"And it seems to have a very positive impact on sleep and melatonin production."},{"speaker":"Peter Bowes","startTime":566.05,"endTime":571.99,"body":"So let's talk about your device then and go back to the beginning of its evolution."},{"speaker":"Peter Bowes","startTime":571.99,"endTime":576.82,"body":"I think I get a better sense now of what your goal is with red light therapy."},{"speaker":"Peter Bowes","startTime":576.88,"endTime":577.84,"body":"How did you start?"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":577.84,"endTime":583.48,"body":"I came into this like I have three co-founders with me who I think were uniquely"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":583.48,"endTime":587.32,"body":"positioned to be able to get this off the ground because they happen to be Norwegian and"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":587.32,"endTime":589.27,"body":"Dutch hardware specialists."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":589.45,"endTime":594.31,"body":"They created solar cell lamps and all kinds of things for international companies based"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":594.31,"endTime":599.17,"body":"in Asia. And their expertise was like how to get products made, tailored and so on, and"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":599.41,"endTime":601.21,"body":"to the European or US market."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":601.42,"endTime":604.18,"body":"And they had stumbled on NASA research."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":604.18,"endTime":607.66,"body":"The chief engineer Arjen Helder was sort of - he discovered this because he was looking"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":607.66,"endTime":612.4,"body":"for a solution to like his wife had some sort of liver problem was only prescribed pills"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":612.4,"endTime":617.08,"body":"and he was searching online and then he found NASA PubMed, all this stuff about red light"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":617.08,"endTime":619.06,"body":"therapy photobiomodulation."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":619.06,"endTime":624.07,"body":"And he was in this very unique position that he could just look at all the, read all"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":624.07,"endTime":625.84,"body":"these papers and say, okay, I can just design one."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":625.84,"endTime":628.87,"body":"I just make one myself because he had it all at his disposal."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":629.17,"endTime":633.31,"body":"And then it worked on his wife and his wife gave it to the neighbor and then the neighbor"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":633.31,"endTime":637.36,"body":"wanted to the other neighbor wanted to come back and try it because it had a positive"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":637.36,"endTime":640.3,"body":"impact on his circulation in his legs and he could feel himself."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":640.3,"endTime":643.33,"body":"So all these health effects were being discovered."},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":643.33,"endTime":649.48,"body":"And Arjen Helder longtime partner and friend of mine Christian Barmen he realized very"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":649.48,"endTime":653.08,"body":"quickly there has to be a business in this - there was a wow effect from what we were"},{"speaker":"Bjørn Ekeberg","startTime":653.08,"endTime":656.64,"body":"seeing.
