And finally my heart settled down enough that I could get to the car."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":272.04,"endTime":277.56,"body":"And I went to the emergency room and they found I wasn't having an acute heart event."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":277.56,"endTime":283.26,"body":"I wasn't having a heart attack, but my heart was skipping beats almost every second or"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":283.26,"endTime":289.8,"body":"third beat. And my heart muscle was oxygen starved, but it was more of a chronic process,"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":289.8,"endTime":291.54,"body":"ended up with a cardiac cath."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":291.54,"endTime":296.31,"body":"They said, Well, your vessels are clear, but we can, you know, we can put you on drugs."},{"speaker":"Bill at obstetrics and gynecology, when people do get sick, those"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":383.88,"endTime":385.38,"body":"things are typically acute."},{"speaker":"Bill better way, that there had to be changes in your"},{"speaker":"Peter Bowes","startTime":419.07,"endTime":423.15,"body":"life and perhaps the way in which you share medical knowledge with other person comes in with any kind of illness, the question is what's the diagnosis,"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":436.08,"endTime":439.17,"body":"right? So we want to know the right diagnosis."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":439.17,"endTime":445.89,"body":"And when that comes to acute situations like a heart attack, a broken leg, you know,"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":445.89,"endTime":451.32,"body":"something like that, that that cause and the intervention that you have to do is pretty"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":451.32,"endTime":457.95,"body":"obvious. But when you cross over into illnesses like dementia, autoimmune diseases,"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":457.95,"endTime":463.65,"body":"Parkinson's, all of these kinds of things, you know, that cause there's there's not that"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":463.65,"endTime":468.45,"body":"obvious pinpoint cause that you can't go in and just surgically fix that thing."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":468.45,"endTime":473.43,"body":"So you end up, you know, so in chronic illness, searching for a diagnosis."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":473.43,"endTime":478.65,"body":"So we're we're defining the person's symptoms and we're trying to get some category to"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":478.65,"endTime":485.0,"body":"put them in. And it's typically to find out what drug to put them on or drugs to put them"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":485.0,"endTime":492.68,"body":"on. And what I really came to understand is that drugs have the capacity to reduce"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":492.68,"endTime":499.67,"body":"symptoms and artificially block the processes of illness, but they don't have the ability"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":499.67,"endTime":504.23,"body":"to promote healing or restore a normal state of wellness."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":504.62,"endTime":507.17,"body":"And what's missing is the question."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":507.17,"endTime":510.86,"body":"So what I started asking is why am I ill?"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":510.89,"endTime":514.01,"body":"What caused me to end up in this situation?"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":514.01,"endTime":518.6,"body":"And some things were obvious, you know, I mean, if you go with sleep, that's a really bad"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":518.6,"endTime":522.29,"body":"problem. I didn't really understand all the reasons why."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":522.32,"endTime":527.03,"body":"And even back in the 80s and 90s, they were questioning, Do we really need to sleep so"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":527.03,"endTime":530.69,"body":"much? It's such a waste to be there, to have to sit in a bed for eight hours."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":530.69,"endTime":532.61,"body":"Can't we get by with four hours?"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":532.61,"endTime":537.08,"body":"I bought into that and I can tell you it's a really bad idea."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":537.62,"endTime":539.78,"body":"So, you know, we need sleep."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":539.78,"endTime":541.16,"body":"So that was obvious."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":541.16,"endTime":543.78,"body":"And the sleep affected my stress levels."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":543.78,"endTime":548.49,"body":"So, you know, I was continually trying to balance community being a father, being a"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":548.49,"endTime":551.67,"body":"husband, doing this really crazy practice."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":551.67,"endTime":553.11,"body":"So a lot of stress."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":553.11,"endTime":557.76,"body":"And that meant I wasn't eating properly, about the only thing that I was doing right was"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":557.76,"endTime":562.29,"body":"trying to exercise regularly whenever I had the chance, everything else I was doing"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":562.29,"endTime":568.32,"body":"wrong. I'm still killing the microbes."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":611.93,"endTime":616.13,"body":"And then I started getting better and it's like, Yeah, yeah, this is working, this is"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":616.13,"endTime":620.6,"body":"working, you know? And I kept, you know, working that equation for about five years until"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":620.6,"endTime":621.94,"body":"everything got back."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":621.95,"endTime":628.28,"body":"But stuff that you wouldn't really think was part of Lyme disease, like my blood"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":628.28,"endTime":632.87,"body":"pressure. I had been diagnosed with essential hypertension when I was in my 30s."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":632.9,"endTime":637.28,"body":"My blood pressure went to normal, my cholesterol went to normal, my blood sugar came"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":637.28,"endTime":643.43,"body":"down, you know, all these other things, constipation, GI issues, all of this stuff all"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":643.43,"endTime":646.39,"body":"resolved when I was taking the herbs."},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":646.4,"endTime":653.21,"body":"So that forced me to really ask, well, what are the herbs doing and how are these things"},{"speaker":"Bill Rawls","startTime":653.21,"endTime":658.4,"body":"working?
