Like Jeremiah sitting in the rubble of Jerusalem, we may face overwhelming circumstances, yet our hope isn't based on changing situations but on God's unchanging character. His faithful love never ends, and His mercies are new every morning. The pain we experience serves a purpose - like plowing that breaks hard ground to plant seeds deep where they can grow strong roots. Though we are pressed on every side by troubles, we are not crushed because our strength comes from God, not ourselves.
