INT. CHING SHE STARBOARD GUNS - NIGHT SOUND: GURNEY, FOOTSTEPS

URSULA NASH

(while running towards Serebella)

Out of the way!

SOUND: FOOTSTEPS

URSULA NASH (CONT'D)

(as she’s getting out equipment)

What happened Terry?

TERRY MENDELSON

I don’t know exactly. We were firing on the AI ship and there was an explosion.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

I thought the shields were still up.

TERRY MENDELSON

I have no idea if the shields were up or not; we were focused on destroying that ship.

SOUND: FOOTSTEPS

JONAS ALDRIDGE

It looks like it happened around her gun.

SOUND: MEDICAL EQUIPMENT SCANNING

URSULA NASH

Her breathing is really shallow, I’m taking her to the med bay!

Jonas, come with me I could use a hand.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

You got it. Terry, report what happened to Captain Rex.

SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, GURNEY, TRANSITION

INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - NIGHT

TERRY MENDELSON

(over speaker) Captain Rex?

REGINA REX

(frantic)

About freakin’ time! Is Ursula there? Is Serebella ok?

TERRY MENDELSON

Yes, Ursula arrived and took her to the med bay with Jonas. He told me to report to you.

REGINA REX

(impatient) Well? What happened?

TERRY MENDELSON

I’m not exactly sure. We had almost destroyed the AI ship but then there was an explosion from Serebella’s gun.

PAT MENDELSON

See? I told you letting him fiddle with the guns was a mistake.

REGINA REX

Shut up Pat! I’ll let you know when I want your opinion. Terry, did you examine the cannon?

TERRY MENDELSON

Yes. The explosion came from outside the ship judging by the origin. I’m guessing it’s my fault since I recalibrated the polarity.

REGINA REX

Actually Terry, it was the shields. They were down to practically nothing. Unfortunately I wasn’t given proper warning or I would’ve been able to divert power to buy more time. You just confirmed what I suspected. Pat, report to your quarters and remain there until further notice.

PAT MENDELSON

But I...

REGINA REX

(cutting her off)

That was a direct order Pat!

SOUND: FOOTSTEPS (ABRUPT), HATCH

TERRY MENDELSON

(under his breath)

Aww man, she is going to rip me a new...

REGINA REX

Assist Anko here on the bridge Terry. He’s in charge until I get back from the med bay.

TERRY MENDELSON

Yes captain.

ANKO LUMEN

What would you like me to do?

REGINA REX

Do an analysis of the ship for any damage and coordinate repairs with Terry. He’s our chief engineer.

SOUND: TRANSITION, VARIOUS MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, ALERT

INT. CHING SHE MEDICAL OFFICE - NIGHT

URSULA NASH

She’s crashing! Get me that injector! On your left!

SOUND: FUMBLING, FOOTSTEPS, INJECTION, ALERT STOPPING

URSULA NASH (CONT'D)

Ok, ok. She’s stabilizing.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Is she going to be ok?

URSULA NASH

I think so. She’s still in shock. Her injuries are bad but nothing I can’t repair. She’s severely burned.

SOUND: SCANNING

URSULA NASH (CONT'D)

She took a pretty bad hit from the impact.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Terry said she was thrown into a wall. The whole seating rig blew off.

URSULA NASH

It’s amazing she’s alive.

SOUND: HATCH, WHEEL CHAIR

REGINA REX

(taken aback as she’s coming in)

How is... Holy shit! Serebella!

SOUND: WHEEL CHAIR SPEEDING UP AND STOPPING, FOOTSTEPS JONAS ALDRIDGE

Whoa, take it easy Regina. Give Ursula room.

URSULA NASH

He’s right captain. I need you to remain calm and keep your distance, ok?

REGINA REX

Fine! Fine.

SOUND: WHEEL CHAIR BACKING OFF

URSULA NASH

She’s stable but as you can see injured severely.

REGINA REX

Is she going to be ok?

URSULA NASH

Eventually. She’ll need some skin graphs. She also suffered a serious concussion and some cracked ribs.

REGINA REX

I’ll kill her!

URSULA NASH

Serebella?

REGINA REX

No! That idiot Pat!

JONAS ALDRIDGE

What does she have to do with Serebella?

REGINA REX

She was supposed to be monitoring our shield levels. Instead, she was busy micro-managing Terry.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Ironic since Terry was the one who saved the day.

REGINA REX

That’s what I thought. I wanted to talk to you about our course of action.

Regarding?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

REGINA REX

Discipling Pat for neglecting her post as well as Maddox for being insubordinate.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

What?

REGINA REX

I’d also like to reward Terry for his efforts.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

This is a lot to unpack. What happened with Maddox?

REGINA REX

They disobeyed a direct order and provided absolutely no assistance during the skirmish.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

I see. What are you thinking?

REGINA REX

I’d like to throw them both in the containment cells for awhile to start with.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Terry won’t be happy about that. As part of his reward, we could give him the power to grant clemency as a special request.

REGINA REX

Hmm. What about Maddox?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

We could make Maddox Terry’s assistant and permanent custodian.

REGINA REX

A demotion? That would take Maddox’s ego down a peg or two and still keep them useful.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Don’t allow them to do anything important. Menial stuff mostly, laundry, trash, way below their normal pay grade.

REGINA REX

I like it. Seems like Maddox could stand a humility lesson.

URSULA NASH

Serebella’s going to be asleep for awhile Regina. Maybe you should get some rest too.

REGINA REX

Thanks, I doubt I’ll sleep but I should try. Thanks Ursula.

SOUND: TRANSITION, HATCH, FOOTSTEPS

INT. CHING SHE MENDELSON'S QUARTERS - MORNING

PAT MENDELSON

(as soon as Terry walks in)

Where the hell were you?? You were gone all night!

TERRY MENDELSON

I was told to stay on the bridge and help Anko!

PAT MENDELSON

Oh, and that’s more important than me?

TERRY MENDELSON

What do you want from me Pat? You tell me to obey the captains’ orders like a good boy but now what? I’m supposed to ignore her orders?

PAT MENDELSON

No! You’re supposed to be smart enough to come up with an excuse so you can get back here to me! I’m the one who needed you, not Anko!

But I guess that’s the way it goes doesn’t it? Like usual, Ihave to think of everything!

TERRY MENDELSON

(apprehensive)

You know what I think this is really about Pat?

PAUSE A BEAT

TERRY MENDELSON (CONT'D)

I think you’re upset that I’m the one who isn’t in trouble for a change.

PAT MENDELSON

What are you getting at?

TERRY MENDELSON

(getting more confident)

You heard me. You’re the one that failed and you can’t handle it.

PAT MENDELSON

That’s not true!

TERRY MENDELSON

It is! You’re so used to mebeing the screw-up that for once the tables are turned and you don’t like it.

PAT MENDELSON

You’re delusional!

TERRY MENDELSON

Am I? Or are youthe loser this time?

SOUND: SLAP ACROSS THE FACE

PAT MENDELSON

You take that back.

TERRY MENDELSON

(rubbing his face from the slap)

No, I don’t think I will.

PAT MENDELSON

I don’t like this new attitude of yours Terry, it needs to change.

TERRY MENDELSON

Well I don’t like the way you’ve been treating me. I also don’t want to go through with the plan anymore.

PAT MENDELSON

You can’t possibly mean that.

TERRY MENDELSON

I do. There are good people on this ship and I’m not ok with betraying them.

PAT MENDELSON

You’re tossing aside me and our plan just like that?

TERRY MENDELSON

I’m not tossing you aside. I just don’t want to go through with it anymore.

PAT MENDELSON

So, what? We’re supposed to be a part of this crew forever? What happened to wanting our ownship and crew?

TERRY MENDELSON

We have that! We’re already part of a crew.

PAT MENDELSON

But it’s not our crew Terry. Remember? We never wanted to become someone else’s lackeys.

TERRY MENDELSON

We’re not lackeys! We’re actually in charge of important things! Anko and I are working together on...

PAT MENDELSON

(cutting him off)

Maybe you are doing important things Terry but what about me?! What about my goals?!

TERRY MENDELSON

We always did what you wanted Pat! I did everything you told me to do since we met. And now, we have a chance at something bigger than us. We’re part of the Ching She crew, we have a new family.

PAT MENDELSON

Family? I’m your only family Terry. You seem to have forgotten that.

PAUSE A BEAT

PAT MENDELSON (CONT'D)

You need to make a choice Terry. Do you want to stay with me and execute our plan? Or, do you want to be with your new “family”? Which is it?

PAUSE A BEAT

SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, HATCH, TRANSITION, FOOTSTEPS, KNOCKING ON HATCH, HATCH OPENING

INT. CHING SHE ANKO’S QUARTERS - LATE MORNING

ANKO LUMEN

Oh, hi Pat. I wasn’t expecting company.

PAT MENDELSON

(flirtatious)

I know, I’m sorry. I was wondering if we could talk. Privately, in your cabin.

ANKO LUMEN

Uh, sure, come in.

SOUND: FOOSTEPS, HATCH

ANKO LUMEN (CONT'D)

To what do I owe this visit?

PAT MENDELSON

Well, I’m a little embarrassed to bring it up but I believe Terry may have mentioned it to you already.

ANKO LUMEN

Mentioned what?

PAT MENDELSON

That I think that you’re attractive.

ANKO LUMEN

Oh! Uh, yes, he may have brought that up. We haven’t talked about it for awhile. I kind of forgot.

PAT MENDELSON

I understand. You’ve been so busy with this terraforming thingy you’re doing.

SOUND: FOOTSTEPS MOVING SLOWLY TOWARDS AKNO

PAT MENDELSON (CONT'D)

And with all the commotion, it’s no wonder you were distracted.

ANKO LUMEN

(awkward) Uh huh.

PAT MENDELSON

But now, things have settled down, right? I mean, we were almost destroyed by another ship, but besides that...

SOUND: FOOTSTEPS STOP, UNZIPPING OF CLOTHING

ANKO LUMEN

Uh huh.

PAT MENDELSON

Death is thrilling isn’t it?

ANKO LUMEN

Thrilling?

PAT MENDELSON

Well, in that, we were almost killed which makes you appreciate life doesn’t it?

ANKO LUMEN

Uh, sure.

PAT MENDELSON

It’s kind of a turn-on being that close to death, such a rush.

SOUND: CLOTHING FALLING TO THE FLOOR

ANKO LUMEN

Yeah, it sure is. Are you positive

Terry is ok with you being here?

PAT MENDELSON

Don’t worry about Terry. He’s on board with whatever I want. And right now, I want to do this.

SOUND: KNEELING DOWN

ANKO LUMEN

Why are you kneeling? What are you doing?

PAT MENDELSON

Oh, I think you know exactlywhat I’m about to do.

SOUND: PANTS UNZIPPING, TRANSITION, STIRRING AWAKE

INT. CHING SHE MEDICAL OFFICE - DAY

SEREBELLA REON

(slowly waking up)

Damn, I feel like I was smashed by a planet.

SOUND: WHEEL CHAIR

REGINA REX

(moving towards her) You’re awake!

URSULA NASH

Hey, there you are. Good to see you with your eyes open.

SEREBELLA REON

They’re open but my head is pounding.

URSULA NASH

It will be like that for a little while.

REGINA REX

I’m so happy you’re awake.

SEREBELLA REON

What happened?

REGINA REX

The shields were down and one of the drones got off a lucky shot on your cannon.

SEREBELLA REON

Is Terry ok?

REGINA REX

Terry’s fine.

SEREBELLA REON

Good. I guess we won.

REGINA REX

We sure did.

SEREBELLA REON

I’m glad to hear that, but I still feel like shit.

URSULA NASH

You suffered a bad concussion along with some burns and cracked ribs.

SEREBELLA REON

That’swhy my arms are bandaged. Why don’t they hurt?

URSULA NASH

I have you on some pretty strong pain killers and I’ve numbed the burn areas.

SEREBELLA REON

That explains the euphoria under the head pounding.

URSULA NASH

It will take a little awhile for the skin graphs but you’ll have new skin soon. I’ve been printing up your new epidermis on the 3D printer.

SEREBELLA REON

Ok. Is everyone else...

URSULA NASH

Everyone’s fine, don’t worry. You’re the only one who was hurt.

REGINA REX

We’ll see about that.

SEREBELLA REON

What does that mean?

REGINA REX

That means I’m still considering kicking the asses of Maddox and Pat.

SEREBELLA REON

For what? What did they do?

SOUND: INTERRUPTING OVER SPEAKER

JONAS ALDRIDGE

(over speaker) Captain Rex?

REGINA REX

Yes Jonas?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Just a reminder that we have that disciplinary meeting with Maddox.

REGINA REX

Speak of the devil. Yeah! I’m coming up to the bridge in 5.

SOUND: TRANSITION, HATCH, FOOTSTEPS

INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - DAY

MADDOX KANE

Hello captains. You wanted to see me?

REGINA REX

Yes, we need to discuss what happened with the AI ship and your role on the Ching She.

MADDOX KANE

I told you Captain Rex, that I would not be party to destruction.

REGINA REX

I understand that which is why we’re making you the ship’s custodian and staff assistant.

MADDOX KANE

I’m sorry, did you say you’re making me the clean up crew and everyone’s servant?

REGINA REX

Basically, yes.

MADDOX KANE

My talents are going to go to waste! Surely you must understand that!

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Why Maddox, are yougetting emotional?

MADDOX KANE

What? No! Of course not. But I have to protest; this isn’t fair...

REGINA REX

(cutting them off)

Fair? Do you think it was fair when everyone else on this crew aided the fight when you refused to help at all? How is that fair?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

We were all at risk Maddox. And when the entire crew is at risk, we need everyone to step up. No matter how they can, they need to step up.

REGINA REX

That includes you Maddox. You’re not special just because you think you’re smarter than everyone else.

MADDOX KANE

I amsmarter than everyone else.

REGINA REX

All that intellect won’t mean shit if you’re worthless in a battle. So as your punishment we thought it best to remind you that you’re not at the top of the chain of command here. You’ll be on septic duty for the foreseeable future as part of your custodial responsibilities.

Until you can come with a way that you’re actually helpful during a fight, you’ll be cleaning the toilets anytime there’s a conflict.

MADDOX KANE

What about my work on the warp drive?

REGINA REX

Terry will oversee your work as he’s in charge of engineering now. You’ll answer to him. Actually, you answer to literally everyone else on the crew.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Let’s go Maddox, I’ll show you where your cleaning supplies are.

SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, TRANSITION, KISSING

INT. CHING SHE ANKO'S QUARTERS - AFTERNOON

PAT MENDELSON

Well, that was fun. You were so, passionate!

ANKO LUMEN

It’s been awhile. I guess I kind of needed that.

PAT MENDELSON

I guess you did! Terry and I haven’t been like that in years. It was animalistic!

ANKO LUMEN

Yeah? Thanks.

PAT MENDELSON

I mean, wow.

SOUND: ROLLING OVER IN BED

PAT MENDELSON (CONT'D)

You know we could keep doing this whenever we wanted.

ANKO LUMEN

Ok, but Terry...

PAT MENDELSON

(cutting him off)

Don’t worry about Terry, he’s totally cool with it.

ANKO LUMEN

If you say so.

PAT MENDELSON

He is! In fact, he likes to watch sometimes.

He does?

ANKO LUMEN

PAT MENDELSON

Sure, is that ok with you?

ANKO LUMEN

I guess so. I’m not really experienced with this kind of thing.

PAT MENDELSON

Don’t worry, I’ll walk you through it. This isn’t our first time with a 3rd partner.

ANKO LUMEN

I see.

PAT MENDELSON

Do you know what makes this exciting?

No, what?

ANKO LUMEN

PAT MENDELSON

You, silly! You’re what makes this so exciting.

ANKO LUMEN

Really? That’s nice. No-one’s called me “exciting” before.

PAT MENDELSON

I think this is the start of something very special. A long relationship between all 3 of us!
