INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - DAY

TERRY MENDELSON

(walking in)

You wanted to see me captains?

REGINA REX

Hi Terry. Thanks for joining us and for taking on the role of chief engineer.

TERRY MENDELSON

Thank you for this opportunity. I’m flattered.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

You’ve done extraordinary work.

REGINA REX

You sure have. So, we’re assigning you a big project.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

We need you to start looking over the warp drive and perform any necessary calibrations.

TERRY MENDELSON

Are you serious? I don’t know anything about warp drives!

REGINA REX

Which is why we’re assigning Maddox as your assistant.

TERRY MENDELSON

Oh. But I still don’t know what I’m doing. I’ve worked on some standard propulsion engine types but this...

REGINA REX

Maddox will be doing most of the work, you’ll be in a more “supervisory” position this time.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

In a way, you’ll be their assistant but in charge.

REGINA REX

We know this may be a bit of an odd circumstance but Maddox needs to earn the crew’s trust and so far hasn’t made any effort to do so.

TERRY MENDELSON

Ok, I got it. That takes the pressure off.

TERRY MENDELSON (CONT'D)

Why the warp drive?

REGINA REX

Because we’re going to be using it pretty soon.

TERRY MENDELSON

For what?

REGINA REX

We’ll talk about that later when I address the crew. Until then, we have a more pressing concern.

SOUND: HATCH, FOOTSTEPS

PAT MENDELSON

Captain Rex? You wanted to see me?

REGINA REX

Yes I did. We need to discuss disciplinary actions.

PAT MENDELSON

What?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

You failed at your post because you were distracted Pat.

REGINA REX

Which nearly cost us everything. In other words you dropping the ball nearly got everyone killed.

But I...

PAT MENDELSON

REGINA REX

(interrupting)

Serebella was severely injured because you were distracted. And one of our plasma cannons is disabled.

PAT MENDELSON

I was just trying to warn you about Terry.

REGINA REX

Who performed exceptionally well.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

It was his quick thinking that won the day.

REGINA REX

Because of your distraction you didn’t see the shield levels drop. If you had, we could’ve won the day without injury or damage.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

But your ego got in the way of your duties.

REGINA REX

We’re willing to take into consideration that you’re inexperienced. You can spend a week on the confinement deck or as a reward to Terry for his efforts he can grant you clemency. The choice is yours Terry. Confinement or clemency?

PAUSE A BEAT

TERRY MENDELSON

Confinement.

PAT MENDELSON

What?! Are you kidding?! You can’t be serious!!

TERRY MENDELSON

I am. None of us are above scrutiny or criticism Pat. I think it’s important we all remember that.

PAT MENDELSON

You son-of-a-bitch! You can’t do this!

TERRY MENDELSON

I’m sorry sweetheart. I know you’re upset but this is important...

PAT MENDELSON

Cram your “sweetheart”!! I’mwhat’s important!

REGINA REX

Jonas will escort you to the confinement deck Pat. I suggest you cooperate.

PAT MENDELSON

(losing it) How dare you!!

SOUND: FOOSTEPS, SHOCKSTICK POWERING UP

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Please don’t make me use this Pat.

PAT MENDELSON

(suddenly changing to nice, appealing to Terry)

Hon, you wouldn’t let him shock me would you? Terry? Terr-Bear?

TERRY MENDELSON

I’m sorry baby, but you need to go with Captain Aldridge.

PAUSE A BEAT

PAT MENDELSON

(under her breath, menacing)

You’re going to regret this.

SOUND: TRANSITION, HATCH, FOOTSTEPS

INT. CHING SHE CANTINA - DAY

JONAS ALDRIDGE

(walking in)

Oh! Hey Ursula. You’ll never believe what I just finished doing.

What?

URSULA NASH

JONAS ALDRIDGE

(getting a drink)

I just put Pat in one of the containment cells.

URSULA NASH

You did? Why?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

As Pat’s punishment for nearly getting the ship destroyed, Regina and I decided to leave the decision to Terry as a reward. He chose a week on the confinement deck.

URSULA NASH

Whoa. Trouble in paradise?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

I guess so.

PAUSE A BEAT

JONAS ALDRIDGE (CONT'D)

Wow, that is one of the biggest smiles I’ve ever seen on your face.

URSULA NASH

Is it that obvious?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Sure is.

URSULA NASH

I can’t help it. It’s nice to see her comeuppance.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

They certainly hid the fact that the honeymoon’s over.

URSULA NASH

It looks like it was over for them a long time ago.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

(sitting down next to her) What about us?

URSULA NASH

What about us?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Did you think it was over for us, for good?

URSULA NASH

For a minute.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

And now?

URSULA NASH

Not so much.

SOUND: KISSING, TRANSITION, HATCH, FOOTSTEPS

INT. CHING SHE CONFINEMENT DECK - LATE AFTERNOON

PAT MENDELSON

What do youwant?

TERRY MENDELSON

Honey, I’m sorry. But this is for the best.

PAT MENDELSON

Don’t “honey” me. You made your choice. You chose them over me.

TERRY MENDELSON

I didn’t choose them! I chose what’s fair. You made a mistake and needed to take responsibility for it.

PAT MENDELSON

That’s what this is all about! Revenge! For all the times you screwed up and I had to clean up your mess, this is you getting back at me.

TERRY MENDELSON

I don’t know what you’re talking about.

PAT MENDELSON

Don’t play dumb, even youaren’t that dumb!

TERRY MENDELSON

See? There you go! Right to the insults! You have no respect for me!

PAT MENDELSON

And this is you getting back at me because you don’t think I respect you?

TERRY MENDELSON

I knowyou don’t respect me! I hear it from you all the time! The tables just happened to be turned for once.

PAT MENDELSON

TERRY MENDELSON

(apprehensive)

Maybe a little, but that doesn’t mean you deserved to get off!

PAT MENDELSON

Fine, if that’s how you want it! Oh; speaking of getting off... I had sex with Anko!

TERRY MENDELSON

PAT MENDELSON

Well I guess plans have changed haven’t they?

TERRY MENDELSON

I guess they have. All right, whatever. Speaking of the plan, it’s done, ok? We’re not taking over this ship.

PAT MENDELSON

TERRY MENDELSON

What do you mean? You can’t possibly take over the ship yourself...

PAT MENDELSON

Who says I’m by myself? Maybe I’ll get Anko to help me.

TERRY MENDELSON

PAT MENDELSON

PAT MENDELSON

PAT MENDELSON

(shifting temperament, trying to twist him around)

TERRY MENDELSON

What are you talking about?

PAT MENDELSON

Don’t you see? You’re chief engineer now, right? You have access to everything! You did it! Now is our moment!

TERRY MENDELSON

PAT MENDELSON

(cutting him off)

And I can work Anko while I’m in here. I’ll seduce him, you get access to the engines and the weapons and the...

TERRY MENDELSON

(cutting her off)

No! I said no! For once, I’m not giving in to you!

PAT MENDELSON

(mean)

TERRY MENDELSON

SOUND: FOOTSTEPS WALKING AWAY, HATCH, TRANSITION, HATCH, WHEEL CHAIR

INT. CHING SHE MEDICAL OFFICE - LATE AFTERNOON

SEREBELLA REON

Hey there! About time you visit me again, I’m getting bored.

REGINA REX

Yeah, sorry about that, we were dealing with Pat. She’ll be spending some time on the confinement deck.

SEREBELLA REON

How’s Terry taking it?

REGINA REX

It was his decision.

SEREBELLA REON

Wow! That’s a surprise.

REGINA REX

How are you feeling?

SEREBELLA REON

Much better. Ursula has my skin graphs in place. I’m just waiting to heal up some more. She says I can get out of here by tomorrow.

REGINA REX

(distracted) That’s good news.

PAUSE A BEAT

SEREBELLA REON

It is. Why do you look so distracted?

REGINA REX

Because I am.

SEREBELLA REON

What’s going on?

REGINA REX

It’s the Cambridge Contract.

SEREBELLA REON

I thought you were done with that.

REGINA REX

I thought maybe so too. But, I started thinking about what might be going on at the station.

SEREBELLA REON

I still haven’t heard from my brothers, I’m freaked out.

REGINA REX

Me too. Maybe we can get some answers or even leverage if we investigate where the contract coordinates lead.

SEREBELLA REON

I think we need to do something.

REGINA REX

The coordinates are on the way back to Earth. If the 5 are pulling something dirty, we’ll need all the advantages we can get.

SEREBELLA REON

Have you talked to anyone else about this? Jonas?

REGINA REX

No, not yet. I’m going to address it at the crew meeting. My contract is the only one that’s left. It’s time to finish the job.

SOUND: TRANSITION, HATCH, FOOTSTEPS

INT. CHING SHE CONFINEMENT DECK - EVENING

ANKO LUMEN

(walking in)

Hi Pat, I was told you were asking for me.

PAT MENDELSON

There you are darling! I’m so happy to see you!

ANKO LUMEN

Darling?

PAT MENDELSON

Yes of course. I adore you! And, since you adore me maybe you could talk to Captain Rex about getting me out of here sooner.

ANKO LUMEN

Look, Pat. It was fun to be with you but I don’t really think of this as a “relationship”.

PAT MENDELSON

We did have sex Anko.

ANKO LUMEN

I’m aware. But I thought it was becoming a threesome cuckhold kind of thing.

PAT MENDELSON

(trying to play him)

I’m sorry we saw things differently. I just assumed what we had meant more to you than just a fling.

(cutting him off)

ANKO LUMEN

PAT MENDELSON

He’s the one that decided to lock me up. They gave him the choice and this is what he chose.

ANKO LUMEN

PAT MENDELSON

If you could just appeal to them. Maybe tell them you really need me as your assistant for your work!

ANKO LUMEN

Well, the thing is Pat, my work here is done. We’re getting ready to head back to Earth. Regina’s called a big crew meeting about it.

PAT MENDELSON

(turning on him)

Then I guess you’re useless too.

ANKO LUMEN

Excuse me?

PAT MENDELSON

If you’re not going to help me, then what are you doing here?

ANKO LUMEN

I wanted to stop by to offer you support as a friend.

PAT MENDELSON

Is that what you think I need right now? A friend?! I need to get out of this cell. That’s what I need!

And if you’re not going to help me with that my “friend” than I don’t need your pity!

ANKO LUMEN

Fine. I think it might be best for me to go.

PAT MENDELSON

SOUND: TRANSITION, KNOCKING, HATCH OPENING, FOOTSTEPS

INT. CHING SHE MADDOX’S CABIN - EVENING

MADDOX KANE

Oh, Terry. What can I do for you?

TERRY MENDELSON

Good evening Maddox. Captain Rex asked me to come by and brief you on our assignment.

MADDOX KANE

Sure, come in. I’m sorry, did you say our assignment?

TERRY MENDELSON

I did. She wants us to calibrate the warp drive.

MADDOX KANE

Oh! Well that’s good. I wanted to work on the warp drive anyway.

TERRY MENDELSON

Great. I’ll be overseeing the procedure.

MADDOX KANE

You will? Oh. That’s right. I answer to everybody.

TERRY MENDELSON

Yes, the captains have promoted me to Chief Engineer.

MADDOX KANE

Of course they did. Tell me Terry, what kind of experience do you have with warp technology?

TERRY MENDELSON

None at the moment but I intend to do some homework.

MADDOX KANE

I see. And how do you intend to supervise?

I’m sorry?

TERRY MENDELSON

MADDOX KANE

Well, if I were to make a mistake how would you know?

TERRY MENDELSON

I’m not sure.

MADDOX KANE

If I were to make the slightest miscalculation I could blow up the ship very easily. Doesn’t that concern you?

TERRY MENDELSON

Of course it does!

MADDOX KANE

Then it seems like the person in charge should know something about what they’re in charge of, shouldn’t they?

TERRY MENDELSON

I was told I would simply supervise and see if you needed any support.

MADDOX KANE

What I need is someone knowledgeable about warp technology, but I guess that is just me.

TERRY MENDELSON

Anko will be there to help too.

MADDOX KANE

Does Anko have warp experience?

TERRY MENDELSON

No, he doesn’t.

MADDOX KANE

Then I really don’t have any help do I?

TERRY MENDELSON

Look, I do know some things about standard propulsion engines and machinery. I can certainly jump in if something mechanical comes up. It’s the warp part that is beyond my pay grade.

MADDOX KANE

Without an understanding of anti- matter and fusion, it’s best just to stay out of my way.

TERRY MENDELSON

Which is what I’ll do unless you ask for my assistance.

MADDOX KANE

Which by the sound of it, I won’t need.

TERRY MENDELSON

Have it your way Maddox, I’m still in charge and you answer to me.

MADDOX KANE

Yes sir.

SOUND: TRANSITION, MURMURS

INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - NIGHT

REGINA REX

Settle down people.

SOUND: MURMURS QUIETING DOWN

REGINA REX (CONT'D)

Ok, you’ve all been called to the bridge so we can talk about next steps. Jonas?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

Thanks Captain Rex. We had a breakthrough here on Europa. Anko has extracted the data he needs for us to terraform the moon. Which means we have hope for the people of Earth and the station. So the next thing we need to do is go back and tell everyone.

ANKO LUMEN

And warn them. We verified the data that Maddox provided for the comet and we need to let everyone know that collision is imminent.

SEREBELLA REON

Can the station fly out of the way?

ANKO LUMEN

Not at this point. A long time ago it was built with the intention of movement but it’s grown so vast that it became impractical.

SEREBELLA REON

So everyone on the station is dead too.

ANKO LUMEN

I’m afraid so. Unless we warn them and they can begin evacuation plans.

URSULA NASH

Is there time?

REGINA REX

There is. But only if we get the warp drive online. That task has been assigned to Terry and Maddox. Terry?

TERRY MENDELSON

(not super confident)

Uh, yes. I’ll, we’ll, be working together to calibrate and make sure everything is operating as it should. Maddox will be hands on while I’ll be overseeing everything.

ANKO LUMEN

I’ll be consulting as needed too.

URSULA NASH

How dangerous is this?

REGINA REX

Very. I’ve only used those drives once and it scared the shit out of me. We went right to the edge of breaking up but the ship held.

Mostly.

MADDOX KANE

We’ll need to work on reinforcements around the vulnerable areas of the ship.

REGINA REX

Whatever you need, we’ll provide.

MADDOX KANE

Thank you Captain.

REGINA REX

You’re being awfully cooperative...

MADDOX KANE

I don’t want to die either and I’d like a chance to get back to my home.

REGINA REX

Fair enough. Our destinations now are both Earth and the station.

Maybe after that, the Nepenthe.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

We’ll head to Earth first since we still don’t know what’s going on with the station.

SEREBELLA REON

Do we know what’s going with Earth?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

No. We don’t know that either but we might as well start with the one that doesn’t have any firepower.

REGINA REX

We’ll be making a stop on the way first.

We will?

JONAS ALDRIDGE

REGINA REX

Yeah, sorry I didn’t tell you. Ok, some of you know this, some of you don’t. My contract is the only one left on this mission and the time has come. It turns out that the 5 are the organization behind my contract, which I was unaware of until recently. We’re going to be heading to the coordinates of that contract on our way to Earth.

URSULA NASH

Are you sure this is a good idea? It’s the 5.

REGINA REX

I know. But if we can at least find out what this is about, we can possibly take what we learn and use it against them.

URSULA NASH

If you say so. Seems very risky.

REGINA REX

It is. But since the blackout at the station, we have no idea what we’re walking into. We need answers.

SOUND: TRANSITION, HATCH, FOOTSTEPS, SITTING DOWN ON BED

INT. CHING SHE JONAS’ CABIN - NIGHT

JONAS ALDRIDGE

SIGH SOUND: ALERT

ASTRID

Attention Captain Aldridge. Incoming encrypted message.

JONAS ALDRIDGE

A message? Astrid, identify sender and origin.

SOUND: SCANNING

ASTRID

Sender identified as Gerald Daniels. Origin: Earth.
