INT. CHING SHE DOCKING BAY - MORNING
URSULA NASH
(checking in with everyone)
Hey Anko, Terry; who’s this?
ANKO LUMEN
(bringing Gerald in on a gurney)
Uh, he’s Jonas’ friend.
URSULA NASH
This must be Gerald. What happened?
TERRY MENDELSON
He was hit with a concussion gun. And then he hit a wall.
URSULA NASH
Ok, get him to the med bay. I’ll be there after I check in with Jonas.
TERRY MENDELSON
(trying to move away quickly)
Yeah, ok.
URSULA NASH
(stopping Anko)
Anko? What’s wrong? That look on your face...
ANKO LUMEN
(can’t find words) I, uh, can’t. I.
SEREBELLA REON
(walking off the shuttle) Ursula? Got a minute?
URSULA NASH
What’s wrong with Anko? Is he ok?
SEREBELLA REON
I don’t know how to say this.
URSULA NASH
Serebella? What’s wrong? What’s going on?
PAUSE A BEAT
URSULA NASH (CONT'D)
Where’s Jonas?
PAUSE A BEAT
URSULA NASH (CONT'D)
(getting upset)
I said, where’sJonas??
SEREBELLA REON
(losing it)
He’s gone Ursula. He’s gone.
SOUND: TRANSITION
INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - MORNING SILENCE
REGINA REX
I don’t even know what to say.
SEREBELLA REON
I don’t either.
REGINA REX
I feel helpless. I want revenge on something, someone. Dammit!!
SOUND: GLASS SHATTERING
SEREBELLA REON
I know how you feel. At least he took them with him. I feel some comfort knowing that prick he hated so much was buried alive.
REGINA REX
How’s Ursula handling it?
SEREBELLA REON
I don’t know. The look on her face, it was like she just kind of checked out. The shock was too much. She left for the med bay as soon as I told her.
REGINA REX
Ok. Ok. We’ll just continue on and head to the station.
SEREBELLA REON

INT. CHING SHE MEDICAL OFFICE - DAY
GERALD DANIELS
(startling awake)
What? Where, where the hell am I?
URSULA NASH
(cold sounding)
You’re in the medical bay of the Ching She.
GERALD DANIELS
The Ching what?
URSULA NASH
The Ching She, it’s a ship and I’m the chief medical officer. Dr.
Ursula Nash.
GERALD DANIELS
I’m in outer space right now?
URSULA NASH
I said ship didn’t I?
GERALD DANIELS
Ok, take it easy lady. This is my first time being kidnapped onto a space ship. Where is the bastard?
URSULA NASH
What bastard?
GERALD DANIELS
Jonas! I know he’s responsible for this!
URSULA NASH
(getting progressively angrier)
Oh he is! He’sthe one responsible for coming to Earth to warn the population. He’s the one responsible for wanting to find a new home for the population to go to! And he’s the one responsible for saving your sorry, delusional ass from being brainwashed!
GERALD DANIELS
Shit. Ok.
URSULA NASH
He’s also gone.
GERALD DANIELS
Gone?
URSULA NASH
Yeah. Dead. He’s dead. He’s dead for trying to save a population of people that didn’t even know him...
SOUND: HATCH, FOOTSTEPS
ANKO LUMEN
(walking in) Ursula, I...
URSULA NASH
(cutting him off, bitter)
And he’s dead because he wanted to rescue you.
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, HATCH
GERALD DANIELS
He’s really dead then.
ANKO LUMEN
I’m afraid so.
PAUSE A BEAT
GERALD DANIELS
What was he to you?
ANKO LUMEN
He was one of our captains. He was also a well respected colleague.
And he was my friend.
GERALD DANIELS
It seems Jonas made an impression on people here.
ANKO LUMEN
He did.
GERALD DANIELS
He was my friend too. My best friend. A long time ago.
ANKO LUMEN
And now?
GERALD DANIELS
And now, I guess I’m the one who needed to be reminded of that. But I suppose it’s too late. And the colony? What about the...?
ANKO LUMEN
(cutting him off)
There’s been a leadership change in the colony.
GERALD DANIELS
But the council, I’m...
ANKO LUMEN
There’s no more council. You’re free of that now. We need you here.
GERALD DANIELS
Need me? Here? For what?
ANKO LUMEN
To help us coordinate the exodus to our new home. You’re our Earth liaison, you’re the colony expert that will work with our scientists on the station.
GERALD DANIELS
We’re going to the station?
ANKO LUMEN
We are. We’ll figure it out when we get there but you should rest for now.
PAUSE A BEAT
GERALD DANIELS
I can’t believe he did all this.
ANKO LUMEN
What do you mean?
GERALD DANIELS
Jonas. He came out here, went to the station, went out into space with all of you. It wasn’t like him. He wasn’t a super-adventurous person in his nature.
ANKO LUMEN
Maybe not but he believed in science and trying to do the right thing.
GERALD DANIELS
Yeah, he did. You’re right, he always believed in that, even when he wasn’t sure what that was.
ANKO LUMEN
I’m Anko Lumen.
GERALD DANIELS
Gerald Daniels.
SOUND: SHAKING HANDS, TRANSITION, HATCH, KNOCKING, WHEEL CHAIR
INT. CHING SHE JONAS' CABIN - DAY
REGINA REX
(entering)
I can come back if you like.
URSULA NASH
(wiping away tears) It’s fine.
REGINA REX
No, it’s anything but fine right now. I know how badly I feel, I can’t even imagine what you’re going through.
URSULA NASH
We had plans, you know? We were going to set up a new life together. He was going to move into my place and then, we were going to help with the evacuation...
REGINA REX
I know, I’m sorry Ursula.
URSULA NASH
It’s not fair dammit!
REGINA REX
I understand unfair, trust me.
URSULA NASH
I know you do. I’m just frustrated. We were right there! And then, he had to just...
REGINA REX
(finishing her sentence)
He had to go and do the right thing and try to help the people from his old colony and save his friend.
URSULA NASH
(finishing her sentence) Who probably didn’t give a damn about him! He did it anyway.
REGINA REX
Yes he did.
PAUSE A BEAT
URSULA NASH
This hurts so much Regina, so very much...
SOUND: WHEEL CHAIR, HUGGING
REGINA REX
This is probably the last thing you want to hear right now but he would’ve wanted us to see things through.
URSULA NASH
I know, it’s the whole damn reason I haven’t lost my mind and just walked out the airlock.
REGINA REX
Personally I want to drink until I reach oblivion but Serebella has me acting “responsibly” these days. I know he’d want all of us to push on so that’s what I have to do.
URSULA NASH
I guess that’s what I have to do too. It’s hard, especially here in this cabin. This is our, was, our cabin.
REGINA REX
You’re welcome to move to another...
URSULA NASH
(cutting her off)
No, I want to stay in here. I swear I can still smell him and feel his presence.
REGINA REX
I would imagine that will go on for awhile. I’m here for you Ursula, everyone is.
URSULA NASH
Thanks Regina, it means a lot. I’ve had to learn to live with ghosts on this trip; I never thought one of them would be Jonas.
SOUND: TRANSITION
INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - DAY
REGINA REX
Ok everyone. We all feel the weight of our loss but we can’t linger on it. Jonas wouldn’t have wanted that. Not now anyway when we’re almost done with this. We have a responsibility to warn the people of the station and follow through on Jonas’ plan for a new home.
ANKO LUMEN
I understand Captain Rex. But we don’t know what we’re walking into here.
REGINA REX
I know, you’re right Anko. We don’t know.
SEREBELLA REON
When has that stopped us before? I need to find my family, I’m going to look for them no matter what’s going on at the station.
REGINA REX
And I’m going to help you. We’re all going to help each other when we get there. We can’t go into this situation guns blazing, we’ll have to see where things stand on the station.
MADDOX KANE
And where do things stand on the station Captain?
REGINA REX
We really don’t know. There’s been a communications blackout since the uprising. The only other thing we’ve heard so far through our resources is that there’s a change in power and there are some remnants of the 5 and the old guard still lingering.
ANKO LUMEN
We need to get the data from the Cambridge satellite into the right hands. If there’s anyone continuing to support the 5, that data could be the thing that changes their minds.
SEREBELLA REON
And it could be the thing that spurs on the revolution even further if it needs it.
REGINA REX
Regardless, we have to be prepared for anything when we get there.
MADDOX KANE
How soon until we arrive at the station Captain?
REGINA REX
About an hour, get some rest. The station is next.
SOUND: TRANSITION, SHIP THRUSTERS
INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - DAY
REGINA REX
(talking into comms)
I repeat, New Hope station, this is the Ching She requesting docking bay clearance.
SOUND: HATCH, FOOTSTEPS
ANKO LUMEN
(walking in) Any luck?
Not yet.
SEREBELLA REON
REGINA REX
I’ve been hailing them for 15 minutes, nothing. I think I’m just going to pick an open dock.
SEREBELLA REON
Whoa. So much damage.
REGINA REX
I’ve never seen the station on fire before.
ANKO LUMEN
It looks like a war took place here.
SEREBELLA REON
I think it did.
MADDOX KANE
Is that normal?
REGINA REX
What?
MADDOX KANE
For all those ships to be orbiting nearby like that? They appear to be just sitting there.
ANKO LUMEN
It looks like they’re waiting for something.
REGINA REX
Definitely not normal.
SOUND: KEYBOARD
REGINA REX (CONT'D)
Attention ships in orbit of the New Hope. Can anyone hear me? This is Captain Regina Rex of the Ching She.
ANKO LUMEN
At least it makes sense why the station comms are down. Look how many sections of the station don’t have power. Total areas blacked out.
SEREBELLA REON
It looks like this place was almost destroyed. I hope my family is ok.
REGINA REX
No-one is responding. The hell with this.
SOUND: KEYBOARD
REGINA REX (CONT'D)
Attention New Hope space station, I don’t know if anyone can hear me but you should know we’re docking whether we have permission or not. This is Captain Regina Rex of the Ching She, we’ll be landing at docking bay 3A.
SOUND: KEYBOARD
REGINA REX (CONT'D)
Attention Ching She crew. Assemble at the armory. We need to suit up before we enter the station.
SOUND: TRANSITION
INT. NEW HOPE DOCKING BAY - DAY
SEREBELLA REON
Ok, when we open the hatch, I’m taking point, stay on me. Complete silence until we assess the situation. Here we go.
SOUND: HATCH, FOOTSTEPS, SILENCE, OCCASION EXPLOSION IN THE BACKGROUND
TERRY MENDELSON
I think whatever happened here is over.
ANKO LUMEN
Where is everyone?
TERRY MENDELSON
There are almost no other ships docked here.
SEREBELLA REON
They’re all orbiting outside, but why?
DOCK WORKER #1
(walking up to them)
I’ll tell you why, they were worried their ship would get blown up.
SOUND: PEOPLE TURNING, GUNS PREPPED FOR FIRING
DOCK WORKER #1 (CONT'D)
Whoa! Don’t kill the messenger. I just work here.
SEREBELLA REON
What happened?
DOCK WORKER #1
You don’t know?
SEREBELLA REON
(lowering her weapon)
We were on a deep space mission.
SOUND: WEAPONS BEING LOWERED
DOCK WORKER #1
The 5 turned out to be a big lie. All AI and wealthy people wanting to control things.
ANKO LUMEN
Yeah, we heard that part.
DOCK WORKER #1
Well, then there was an uprising with a bunch of underground organizations and all hell broke lose.
ANKO LUMEN
Who’s in charge?
DOCK WORKER #1
Shit if I know. Last I heard there were some holdouts from the 5’s council trying to restore power but people are resisting and not letting them. It doesn’t really matter anyway.
TERRY MENDELSON
Why not?
DOCK WORKER #1
The station is going down. This place is deteriorating from all the damage. With all the personnel lost to the fight, we’re out of people to work on it. That’s why all the ships are hovering outside. They’re waiting for an evacuation plan.
ANKO LUMEN
Evacuation to where?
DOCK WORKER #1
Earth for starters. The trouble is, they’re having trouble coordinating with the colonies on the surface.
SEREBELLA REON
I think we might have the solution to that problem.
SOUND: EXPLOSION, PLATFORMS SHIFTING, METAL EXPANDING AND CONTRACTING
TERRY MENDELSON
Holy shit!
DOCK WORKER #1
Yeah, that’s been happening a lot. It’s only to get worse until this whole place goes. I’m getting on that ship over there right now in fact.
SEREBELLA REON
If there were any people in charge still here, where would they be?
DOCK WORKER #1
Last I heard of anything official going on it was in the East Annex security center.
SEREBELLA REON
I know where that is, thank you.
DOCK WORKER #1
More power to you. I wouldn’t mess around long if I were you, this place is getting more unstable by the minute.
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS RUNNING AWAY, COMMUNICATOR ACTIVATING SEREBELLA REON
Captain Rex, we’re heading to the East Annex, we’ll keep you posted. Everyone needs to stay on the ship until we get back. Keep the defenses up.
REGINA REX
(over comms) Roger that.
SEREBELLA REON
You heard the man, let’s get moving.
SOUND: FOOTSTEPS, TRANSITION
INT. CHING SHE BRIDGE - DAY
MADDOX KANE
That explosion we just heard doesn’t instill me with a lot of confidence Captain Rex.
REGINA REX
Me neither Maddox but we won’t be going anywhere until Serebella and the others get back.
MADDOX KANE
Understood but maybe we should keep the ship prepped for sudden takeoff.
REGINA REX
Good suggestion. Calibrate the landing gear while we’re sitting here. Our landing was a little rough.
MADDOX KANE
(getting to work) I’m on it.
REGINA REX
Astrid, begin preflight engine check.
ASTRID
Running preflight diagnostics now.
SOUND: PROCESSING, KEYBOARD
REGINA REX
How are you holding up?
URSULA NASH
I’m ok.
REGINA REX
I need you strong to get through this. We have no idea what happens next.
URSULA NASH
I’ve got my shit together. I’ll grieve for Jonas in my own way when I can. I know he’d want me to be strong through this.
REGINA REX
He’d want all of us to be strong.
URSULA NASH
Yeah, he would.
REGINA REX
How’s Dr. Daniels doing?
URSULA NASH
He’s fine. He’s still coming off his programming but his mind is clearing up.
REGINA REX
I hope he was worth it.
URSULA NASH
He better be.
SEREBELLA REON
(over comms) Captain Rex?
REGINA REX
Yeah Serebella, what’s up?
SEREBELLA REON
I need you to come to the security center and bring that Daniels guy with you along with the Cambridge data. Make sure Ursula is with you.
URSULA NASH
Me? Why me?
REGINA REX
The data? Are you sure?
SEREBELLA REON
Trust me, we’re talking to the right people.
SOUND: DISTANT EXPLOSION
REGINA REX
But the station...?
SEREBELLA REON
Don’t worry, this won’t take long.
SOUND: ALERT
ASTRID
Preflight check complete, all systems clear.
REGINA REX
Ursula, collect Daniels and meet me on the boarding deck. Maddox stay here with the ship. Keep the defense systems engaged until you hear otherwise.
MADDOX KANE
Will do captain.

(walking up to them)

REGINA REX
Hey, are you alright?
SEREBELLA REON
Everything’s fine. I have some people you need to meet.
URSULA NASH
What’s going on Serebella?
SEREBELLA REON
This way.

SEREBELLA REON (CONT'D)
Hey everyone, this is my crew. Crew, I’d like you to meet Dr. David Nash and Dr. Jennifer Nash. They’re the ones coordinating the efforts of the station now.
DR. DAVID NASH
Not just us, we’re part of a committee trying to organize the evacuation.
URSULA NASH
Your last name is Nash?
DR. DAVID NASH
Yes Ursula. It is.
URSULA NASH
How did you know my name?
DR. JENNIFER NASH
I think you know the answer to that dear.
URSULA NASH
Mom? Dad?
DR. JENNIFER NASH
I know this comes as a shock, it is for us too.
DR. DAVID NASH
We have a lot to discuss.
URSULA NASH
I have so many questions.
SEREBELLA REON
I hate to interrupt this family reunion but we have more pressing matters right now.
DR. DAVID NASH
Right. Is this him?
SEREBELLA REON
It is?
DR. DAVID NASH
You are Gerald Daniels?
GERALD DANIELS
I am.
DR. DAVID NASH
Good. I understand you’re from Earth and you’re in charge of one of the colonies.
GERALD DANIELS
(shaking off the last of the programming)
Yes, but I wouldn’t say I was in charge. I served, I served, the council. The council. No. No! I serve the people! The people of the colony. It’s what Jonas wanted.
Yes! I can help!
DR. DAVID NASH
Glad to hear that. We’re going to need all the help we can get moving to our new home. Dr. Lumen...
ANKO LUMEN
Yes!
DR. DAVID NASH
From what you were telling me of your terraforming it sounds like you’re the man to be in charge of our relocation to Europa. This would constitute a very high level within the management of what’s left of humanity and the station. Are you up for that?
ANKO LUMEN
I am.
DR. DAVID NASH
Captain Rex, we’re going to need someone with a good crew and your experience to lead the fleet both to Earth and then beyond when we leave for good.
REGINA REX
I’d be honored and I believe my crew would be too as long as they want to stay on with me. But I can’t speak for them.
ANKO LUMEN
I can’t think of a better base to work from than the Ching She.
URSULA NASH
The Ching She is my home too but as long as I can get some time to spend with my parents, I’m in.
TERRY MENDELSON
You all have been my family since you found us stranded. I’m staying with you Captain Rex.
REGINA REX
Hon? I know your family...
SEREBELLA REON
(finishing her sentence) They’re already evacuated and safe aboard one of the ships outside.
The Nash’s had a manifest of everyone who’s evacuating. I’ll be able to find them once we coordinate on Earth.
TERRY MENDELSON
It looks like you’re stuck with us Captain Rex.
REGINA REX
I guess I am. Well, then, let’s do this. Let’s get the hell out of here and save humanity’s ass! For Jonas!
