In Galatians 3:10–14, Paul reminds us that salvation cannot be earned through good works or religious performance. The law exposes our sin and shows that none of us can perfectly live up to God’s standard. On our own, we live under the curse of sin and separation from God.

But the gospel is that Jesus became the curse for us. Through his death on the cross, Christ took our sin, shame, and judgment so that by faith we could receive the blessing promised to Abraham. Salvation is not achieved through striving—it is received through trusting in Jesus.

Because of Christ, we are no longer enslaved to proving ourselves through success, security, or approval. Through faith, God gives us his Spirit and brings us near to himself. Jesus became the curse so we could live by faith.
