People of PS: Jessica Varela
Jessica holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of Kansas as well as a master's degree in Elementary Education from The George Washington University. Additionally, she has completed post-graduate work in Literacy at Chapman University, in Reading at Columbia University, and in Mathematics at Stanford University. Prior to joining the Leadership Team at Presbyterian School, Jessica served at the Lamplighter School in Dallas, Texas for six years. In the midst of the pandemic, Jessica became Lamplighter's Virtual and Hybrid Learning Committee Chair, supervising a 10-member committee as it developed and communicated virtual and hybrid learning plans across all divisions. In addition, she served as the Makerspace and Innovation Curriculum Coordinator, leading a team charged with creating and advancing a makerspace and design-thinking curriculum as well as developing and implementing technology standards in accordance with the School's strategic plan.
