Continuing with our podcast celebrating the life and career of legendary trumpeter Steven Madaio, we cover his early life and the path he took to come into the business in New York. Steve elaborates on his early influences... his father was a big-band trumpeter... Steve talks about his early teachers and how the foundation of his early classical and jazz teaching changed his approach to other forms of music later. He goes on to explain how he hit the ground running, practicing with his young friends Michael and Randy Brecker, doing Broadway shows, recording with The Rascals, touring with the Beach Boys and landing with the Butterfield Blues Band on his way to performing on-stage at Woodstock.
