Beautiful Savior Sermons

Comfort or Compassion? | Sermon on Luke 16:19–31 & Amos 6:1–7

Beautiful Savior, SeaTac WA

On the 16th Sunday after Pentecost (September 28, 2025) at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church (SeaTac, WA), we hear Jesus’ parable of the rich man and Lazarus alongside the prophet Amos’ warning to those who rest in comfort while others suffer.

The message, “Comfort or Compassion?”, challenges us to consider where we place our security. God’s Word calls us away from self-indulgence and toward lives of mercy, generosity, and compassion. True discipleship is not measured by comfort but by reflecting Christ’s love for those in need.

Readings:

Amos 6:1–7

Luke 16:19–31

In a world tempted by wealth and ease, God calls us to see the Lazarus at our gate and respond with mercy.
