On the Third Sunday of Easter, we hear how the risen Christ comes near even when He is not immediately recognized.

In Luke 24:13–35, Jesus walks alongside the disciples on the road to Emmaus, opening the Scriptures and revealing Himself in the breaking of the bread. What began in confusion and sorrow becomes clarity and joy as their eyes are opened to see Him.

In Acts 2:14a, 36–41, that same risen Lord works through the Word proclaimed, calling people to repentance, faith, and new life. The promise is clear: forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit are for all whom the Lord calls.

“Recognizing Jesus” is not about finding Him on our own, but receiving how He makes Himself known through His Word and Sacraments. Here, Christ still meets His people, strengthening faith, restoring hope, and giving life.

Whether you are exploring faith, returning to church, or looking for a place to hear the good news, you are welcome. The risen Jesus still draws near.
