This week I chatted with the wonderful Elle from The E-commerce Assistant, who elevates small businesses to the next level with websites and email marketing. So if you can’t tell the difference between your Shopify or your Klaviyo (no - me nether!)
then this is the episode for you.
Having just got into the dark art of email marketing for my own business (via the brilliant Helen Perry and her List Club) I thought I speak to an expert and Elle is excellent at what she does. It’s not all biz talk though as we also discuss the shit-show of running your own biz during the school holidays (and I offer what’s worked for me!) plus a big dose of Marvel geekdom - we are both totally team Antman.
Elle is so brilliant that she is launching her own online school, that will teach you how to make your website work hard for you with e-commerce strategy from the ground up, so you can retain and convert customers. (hurrah!) You can find out more here.
Jump into my Insta DM’s and let me know if you enjoyed this episode - I think you’ll find this really useful.
P.S That One Thing is a true passion project (I don’t get paid but I love producing it!) - you can now help me out a little by buying me a coffee - ( I LOVE coffee) xxx
One of the questions I get asked a lot in my Empowerment sessions and client calls is about testing your Facebook Ads - how and when to do it and for how long?
The answer is simple. With Facebook Ads the testing never stops and that’s a good thing! It keeps things interesting and means you’re always looking for little tweaks that you can make to help drive down your costs further and get more bang for your buck.
In this bitesized episode I'm sharing my simple strategy for testing during your campaign cycle and talk a little about the funnel process too - hint, it's a bit like going on a date!
Did you know I have a Newsletter? Sent out every other Friday it's chocca full of really useful stuff to do with Facebook Ads, there might even be some pod and telly recommendations too.

This week I’ve decided to replay one of my most listened to episodes - Its with the fabulous Donna Noble!
Donna Noble is a master yogic practitioner and founder of Curvesome Yoga, a place for people to enjoy yoga regardless of size, ability or colour. 15 years ago Donna was a very different lady, running herself ragged with a highly stressful job in the City of London that culminated with her contracting Bell's Palsy (Bell's palsy is a temporary weakness or lack of movement affecting 1 side of your face. Symptoms of Bell's palsy include weakness on 1 side of your face, a drooping eyelid or corner of your mouth.
It was through yoga that she initially allowed herself to heal and rebuild her life, on a journey that took her to LA and back to London, where she became a pioneer of the body-positive movement.
I'm replaying this episode from season 2 ( wayyyy back in the summer of 2020) as Donna has a wonderful book out: Teaching Body Positive Yoga: A Guide to Inclusivity, Language and Props. With practical tips, as well as information on social justice and body-positive yoga off the mat, Teaching Body Positive Yoga is a well-rounded resource that gives yoga teachers the confidence to host inclusive and welcoming classes for all. Donna is truly leading the way to ensure that yoga is available to every-BODY, regardless of age, size, ethnicity, ability or gender.

This week I'm delighted to welcome Hanna Bier onto That One Thing. Hanna works with ambitious women all over the world to recreate their relationship with money in a life-affirming, positive and loving way.
As an energy healer, family-constellation expert and certified life coach, she has woven her diverse skill set into a proven, and innovative capacity to allow her clients to transform their relationship with money from the inside out. Hanna spent seven years trying to answer the question: Is it possible to create wealth without compromising our health, wellness and/or happiness. Can we actually create abundant lives while living a life of joy?
Happily, the answer is a resounding YES. And this is the work she now does with clients.
Her clairvoyant abilities allow her to quickly discover the deepest money blocks in people's energy systems. Once these blocks are released through her proprietary methodology, abundance opens up in an entirely new, magical (and sometimes awe inspiring) way. Hanna’s clients soar… rising to new levels of success... seemingly overnight... and become the radiant leaders their communities deserve, while enjoying a new sense of overflow, lightness, ease, fulfilment and joy in every aspect of their lives. (Because abundance IS.) I was completely blown away by our conversation and I'm sure you'll be too!

Hello and welcome back to That One Thing! It's amazing to be back in your headphones with more incredible stories from some wonderful female entrepreneurs, lets go!
Emily Armitage is a wealth and worth coach who discovered the connection between wealth and self worth through enduring a toxic relationship. Money was used to control Emily and also a tool she eventually used to escape. Since then, she has worked through rebuilding her self-esteem, unpacking her money stories and learning how linked our wealth and self worth can be.
Now Emily helps women go from feeling rubbish about money (we've all been there haven't we?) full of shame and riddled with guilt to managing their money in a way that works for them. She has shaped her practice around helping others build better relationships with themselves and money because ultimately being who we are meant to be, and using money as the tool it is gives us freedom, choices and opportunities to change what isn’t just and fair, which will make the world a better place.
I was honoured to hear her story, in her own words (please be aware that some of this episode may be triggering to those who have also suffered a toxic relationship)

Safoora Mian- Cudmore, trained as a lawyer, before she took a career break to look after her children, during which time the family moved abroad for several years (and back again).
During that career break, Safoora re-trained as a coach which felt totally out of her comfort zone, she had not done anything like that before. For Safoora, it felt very different to her legal training.
She says ”I’ve had many roles to play in my life: daughter, wife, mum (working mum and single mum whilst my husband has been working abroad), friend, lawyer. And, like everybody, at times I’ve felt overwhelmed by this proliferation of roles and the demands on me that they required. I know the stresses, the struggle for balance and the guilt that often accompanies trying to be all things to all people. I know how, in the midst of that struggle for balance, it’s so easy to lose sight of what’s really important to you. It’s easy to lose your sense of “self”, your ability to do things that are just for you and no one else. I’ve been at that crossroads, that point at which you have to make a decision that you feel is the right one for you.”
Trigger Warning: In this episode, we talk about the grief of losing someone close to you, which is still pretty recent and so is still pretty raw for Safoora. You might want to skip this bit if this upsets you in any way.

SJ had a bumpy start to her adult life, as her relationship with her mother broke down, she found herself homeless and adrift _ and we talk in-depth about how she transitioned from that SJ to who she is today.

Rebecca is a self-taught, self-made entrepreneur who launched Pro Blo Group in November 2014, initially operating from her mum's kitchen with a plan to sell her hair tool on eBay. However, eBay never happened, instead, Beck grew Pro Blo to a seven-figure business within two years. She launched her brand into Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Bloomingdales, Sainsbury's and stores across the globe. The brand is loved worldwide and boasts an organic cult following across social media. With distribution in the UK, USA, UAE and Russia, Rebecca continues to expand her business at rapid growth.
Lockdown brought a new project that quickly developed into SLEEP London and Beck is following a similar strategy to grow the brand globally. She firmly believes in her mantra: Say YES and make it happen! (which I had to make the title of this episode!)
