RHHD officials urge emergency planning in light of National Preparedness Month

Richmond and Henrico Health Districts officials are encouraging the public to observe National Preparedness Month this September by making a plan for emergencies. The National Preparedness Month theme this year is "Start a Conversation," and health officials say the best way to start a family emergency plan is to have a conversation about preparedness. Families should include everyone in the plan, even pets, and should consider what to do if an emergency happens to an elderly neighbor or someone with a disability, officials said. Discussions should take place over a short period of time but not be rushed, they said....
