Could Insomniac Games' worst nightmare redefine cybersecurity in the gaming world? We're unpacking the explosive aftermath of the ransomware attack that's rocked the gaming community, from the leaked 10-year master plan to the unauthorized first look at Wolverine's alpha gameplay. Our discussion doesn't shy away from the darker implications, diving into the stark realities of personal data breaches and the industry-wide wake-up call on digital vulnerability. We're not just about the drama, though; we also take a hard look at how companies might fortify their defenses against such sophisticated cyber threats.

This episode isn't all serious business—we get animated over Phil Spencer's hints at a more inclusive Game Pass future and debate what treasures and traps that might hold for gamers. We also tee up for a quirky detour into Garfield movie coming in summer 2024,  swinging into Naughty Dog's  multiplayer game cancellation.  Therefore, everyone strap in for a rollercoaster ride through the peaks and valleys of gaming industry news, insights, and debates—a truly unmissable episode of The Gamer Traffic Show.

Speaker 1:

Let's do this. Welcome everybody to another episode of the gay with traffic show. I'm your host, mike Samson. Show them my co-host. Simply amazing I'm I doing today? Hey, why? Good for mr Amazing. We back. Sorry for a little hiatus. Yeah, so a lot of stuff with last of us. Happy, mr Mays, since women going. Mr Amazing, guess what's going on? Another hack, dgo, damn ransomware. We won't miss appeal name, but they hacked insomniac. They wanted how much money? Two million dollars and how much a Bitcoin? About 50 bitcoins. I ain't no, 50 bitcoins worth two million dollars. There's something new as well.

Speaker 2:

And now they got stuff that they leak out Wolverine, mm-hmm pretty much elite thought insomniacs 10 year plan which is kind of messed up after to that up to 2033, I believe.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, pretty to a 233. Yeah, yeah, 10 year plan man. Damn. And right now they're saying that we're pauses, saying that the Wolverine game is actually being download and playing. Guess what I'm? What system, what system? Series sx? Get out of here.

Speaker 2:

Yes, mr, amazing early stages.

Speaker 1:

It's an alpha phase, yeah you know people are curious and you know if your ex boss for she's not gonna play a Wolverine game Unless you bought a PlayStation, that's true. So they're like freakin my best opportunity to get it. Pull like this. If I think it's early access and it's horrible, they also got so security numbers passports. This is me. I was outrageous, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I know that's. The part that does suck, though, is that they got like you know they breach a lot of employees Information to and and that's a threat to them, because now they're first. I mean, I've been a victim of this, so I know how much. I know how annoying it is when your personal information is out. It's pretty much out there for life, so that part sucks, man.

Speaker 1:

I mean one of one of the days they leaked out that Marvel venom, which is not surprised. It's mostly coming out 2025. Was that surprise? Wolverine? We said we bought them. Both dogs will come at least no later than 20, no later in early 2025. It's actually 2026.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean they also leaked some pretty interesting stuff. Spider-man 3 we're not playing too, but we know 3 is 5 years on the line.

Speaker 1:

You gotta think about. The Venom is a mid gap between the spider-man game, just like.

Speaker 2:

Venom is the next big title for them, which is 2025.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I thought that would be out actually that's how I was stated, but but you gotta think of like a several four that the venom is just gonna be a midway from Spiderman 2 to Spiderman 3. Yes, that is correct and that's gonna come out 2028.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and also did follow by. Was the what red retina clank yeah we saw a lot of great game.

Speaker 1:

Great game. Love that.

Speaker 2:

Well, that's your more your thing, though. Why, why, why something, why?

Speaker 1:

Why, what they man, you play you. Yeah, it was good, I love that game. It was come out 2029 yeah, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2:

20. Oh no, you're right 29.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, also the Marvel X man coming out in 2020. 30.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so my son is, my thing is not at. This stuff is leaked. Do you think it's time it goes back into the drone board and switch it all up just because it was leaked? No, I mean, these days are not physical Done with them.

Speaker 1:

I mean the story I mean the story line was leaked, some of the stuff was leaked about where the location of what we're gonna be at and where you know, something seems to be taking place. But I just think that I mean yeah, I mean they might have time to change stuff up.

Speaker 2:

These kids cause music to make now. Yeah, so if you just sit, there switch little things up.

Speaker 1:

It's gonna cause it's probably little things might get switched up, but like it's still alpha phase, so stuff is still working on.

Speaker 2:

I agree with that man. It just sucks me out with you, man.

Speaker 1:

I mean also a second new IP post release in 2035.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, but they haven't touched what it is though. So I mean we'll see. I mean I I swear big things. I sound like it's known for big things, so what happens with that? But I have a question for you how do you think you police situations like that? Because we saw it with Grand Theft Auto 6? We've seen it with massive titles over the years. That's something that's just part of the new cyber world that we live in, and pretty much the gaming industry is going more towards the Internet-based, you know, digital world. That's what we are now.

Speaker 2:

My thing is how do you police leaks, do you? How do you say that? Because the people that Got insomniac? They were on the Governments radar. So if they're your government's radar, that means you're good at what you do and they're relatively new. What's the difference? Leakers? I don't think. What you call these people, what was the name for them? Hackers, hackers, they're not even new hackers, from my understanding, but they're on the government's radar because it's it's up, it's we're gays, but then they go into people's bank information. You know it expands. But my thing is how do you police it? Do you pay them the 1.2 million dollars they want? But if you do that, your name?

Speaker 1:

What do you say while movies? We don't go shit with terrorists, terrorists.

Speaker 2:

No, but they kept their word. They leaked it. Yeah, that's also what you know, but that's everybody.

Speaker 1:

They need the Xbox. Capcom happens to everybody. Oh, yes, us, but we don't got millions of dollars. They go, like you know, hold us ransom for. That's my question. It's nothing we do to stop it. It's nothing you could stop it. It happens all the time around the world.

Speaker 2:

I mean obviously the the first thing I tell you is beef of your security Before I be. That's what they're gonna tell you. But, like I said, it's gonna happen regardless.

Speaker 1:

But what I think is violating, of course, of course you know, say, come on, it's hard, but my thing is I.

Speaker 2:

Feel like strong, like how did you know how to tell me an example like that, dude, we spoke about a yeah, yeah but yeah, they would they sent to what? A couple years in jail they went in they they still previously is broke for the rest of his life, the guy. So my thing is I think stronger measures need to be done.

Speaker 1:

So people think twice about doing this, saying that it wants to get caught. Yes, the action. Exactly so someone gets caught, like the teller wasn't playing, but I think this is. I think this way was it when you put in people Personal information out of course. So security passports yeah, you do the yo. The hand was coming down like door.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, cuz now you're looking into like I mean, even though they're all like some kind of federal, so kind of federal federal law you're breaking. But, like you said, you're messing with people's personal identification, so there is gonna be consequences. But I just feel that, outside of the consequences that you're gonna face for government, I feel like these gaming Studios also have to press charges Against these people. You got to make an example out of them. You got to, I Mean, I'm here saying that and then Michael, be the first one to go, probably go download a emulator. There's some rips from game off a lot of Michael, would you?

Speaker 1:

I'll just say Do we have to name your friend go?

Speaker 2:

on the bus.

Speaker 1:

Back to the venom game was supposed to come out in 2025 and put in the name of the game is venom before protector. That leads into spider-man 3. After events of spider-man 2, mr Mason, cool, cool, cool. So I mean, as post, we like mouth routers are probably 8 to 10 hour, okay, any time game, so that's how it's, and also there was some a multiplayer stuff coming on leading up to the spider-man games. I think I should for you.

Speaker 2:

I forgot who made it miles more hours, to whom I mean super miles more hours? Who?

Speaker 1:

made that. Yeah, yeah. So why wasn't that?

Speaker 2:

on there. Oh, what on? The leak like white shit, miles miles to be in there too.

Speaker 1:

No, it's the miles out to now.

Speaker 2:

Right now Is this a big gap, though.

Speaker 1:

It's a spider-man. It's a spider-man game.

Speaker 2:

Oh, so they did it cuz I have been a second one yet, so I don't know yeah. So they're not gonna make us, you know, like. Not as just doing that as one whole. I don't know, and I don't want people to leave it for me.

Speaker 1:

So you know, mess things up for me, okay, understood because also they're saying multiplayer game we consider in the spider-man universe okay. So I also say a combo. Game down the line Refers it might be spying at 3b in two parts. So it's no cuz. My thing is a combo. Like you have one spider-man, part one and part two. I can see that though, if they do do that, it might as well make it chapter one. Spider-man three, chapter one. They made the spider-man the next one, chapter two.

Speaker 2:

I'm okay with that. They do that. Yeah, like the like the, like the movie, like the movie, what they're doing.

Speaker 1:

I like Miles Morales movie to have right now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm saying like the movie, just like the movie.

Speaker 1:

Broly. Broly won't get a piece of action of the podcast. Broly, get off of Mr Amazing.

Speaker 2:

That's all up on me, y'all man. Get out of nowhere, man, let's get a crap out of me, All right man.

Speaker 1:

Hi, mr Amazing, I was the same dad as another Hack For her In the gaming industry and, like I said, I agree with you. They see me more severe penalty for these individuals Fool. That's not the hacking. Yeah, I agree with you.

Speaker 1:

You got to set examples, so I so I, mr Amazing, let's go on to the next topic. Mr Amazing, the next topic is yo, we talk. We talk about this before China is no joke with these rules and regulation, with you getting deeply involved in this. You're getting involved in this. You're getting involved in this, something that was suggested, with you getting deeply involved in video games. So, according to financial resources, the Chinese government was suppose and proposing new rules that could catch how much plays can spend on video games and banders Game Designers for warden daily logins.

Speaker 1:

You know, sometimes they give you a war like a trophy for a little Trophy.

Speaker 2:

Trophies oh, you walk five miles. So so China now is trying to restrict it because I guess they they took measures already. I don't know how much more measured it they need to take. I.

Speaker 1:

Mean, I'm going to this because of that. The point for new regulations. A lot of Chinese gaming companies have plummeted the stock, tencent stock permanent because of this. Wow, you think?

Speaker 2:

it's gonna happen.

Speaker 1:

The rules proposed by the Chinese national press and the public publication administration Include on Unspecified cap and how many how much plays can spend with the game and ban Developers for warning plays for daily logins. I said earlier, rules were built on Chinese rules already, rules already placed in China. Reference to how many hours you could play in limits Minus, to play video games between 8 pm and damn and 9 pm. What the hell. A Monday on Friday, saturday, sunday and and holidays you just get warmed up one hour.

Speaker 2:

That's crazy. So this is a place of minus. This is a place of adults.

Speaker 1:

No, you know, I don't know if I for minors.

Speaker 2:

Okay, we've been so many I gotta be a little bit more fussy. To our window. What are we just getting warmed up? I Don't know. I'm finally sat in Sundays but that's the weekend for them, man.

Speaker 1:

I mean damn.

Speaker 2:

I don't know, I don't know. I feel about this one. Well, I do believe we should have restrictions. I also feel like we should be. I feel like restrictions should come from your.

Speaker 1:

Your parents?

Speaker 2:

Yes, exactly not from the government, because this is definitely what we would say Lazy Fair, keep your hands on my business. And so let me be a parent and let me decide how I want my hours spread across with my children.

Speaker 1:

I just want to, but, like I said that, this announcement came just past Friday, surprised the gaming industry and it's like it's China's. What I didn't really know is one of larger video game markets.

Speaker 2:

Of course. I believe that I'm sure number one's probably Japan, right there America.

Speaker 1:

America.

Speaker 2:

I did Japan America's both. They have to be Michael. Some of the biggest gaming things are for come out of Japan.

Speaker 1:

Okay, okay, totally, china. Chinese video game sales atop of over how much, mr Mays? You think? What's this? I didn't hear a question. Okay, chinese video game sales, or what, mr Mays, in Chinese video game sales.

Speaker 2:

Like you talk about a year, recent year, I'm sure that's gonna probably billion close. What is it?

Speaker 1:

300 billion yen, 42 42 billion dollars. Okay, so in the year 2023, mr Amazing.

Speaker 2:

That's crazy a lot. I mean it's a lot. I mean what's got a factor in that? China has one of the biggest populations in the world too, so you're factored that into the into it too.

Speaker 1:

Like I said, 10 set holding which I invest in. Don't hate. The stock fell more than 11% because of this. Wow, that's a big drop, yeah, so net easy. Also stumble, damn 17%. See the global factor. Video games have yo, that's how it goes. It's like wow, but they go live in America. Why, that be perfect. But, thank God, living America, you there. So, mr Amazing, all right, so you have the elbows to say about this topic.

Speaker 2:

Good.

Speaker 1:

Well, mr Maze's go to our next topic, playstation 5 or so how many copy mr Amazing up? Copies consoles 15 million 50 million impressive number. I'll sell it. Who mr Maze?

Speaker 2:

the.

Speaker 1:

PlayStation phone. Yeah, it's like three to one man you know, we did have a good people x-bar to put you in place into four Basically what was the mission for at this point? Oh, Let me see it took the PlayStation for a hundred and sixty weeks to hit that mount a.

Speaker 2:

Hundred and sixty weeks. Yes so that's roughly 52, 52, 3.

Speaker 1:

I'm not gonna math you.

Speaker 2:

About three and a half is right, it's 1550 is a hundred and four. Yeah about three and a half years. You know About the same pace because this is about the same life cycle. They're about the same pace.

Speaker 1:

It's quicker.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so it's on par to break. So pretty much what I'm trying to see is To set the record to break the all-time console.

Speaker 1:

I'm saying so in pace. I'll sell the place, that I'll have better cells in the place. In the full world is getting limited Limited competition for Microsoft, unfortunately. But Miss Macy made the most bold in prediction for next year. What mr Macy tell the people?

Speaker 2:

You didn't say that.

Speaker 1:

Bully stated yes, then xbox be king of gaming next this next year.

Speaker 2:

I have said that I've been a record. I've said that I think I think next year's gonna be a big year for Xbox. I think we're gonna get gains we weren't expecting, and I think we're gonna see Microsoft's money start to pay off for that. Well, this Tuesday, boy, I think that's what we're gonna see next year, so I'm confident with that one.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I'm no chapter to that.

Speaker 2:

Also you agree.

Speaker 1:

I just great Microsoft. This is a big gift Microsoft. Microsoft has to be. Microsoft need to show improve. There gonna be problems.

Speaker 2:

It's crazy, cuz I Know it's a holiday season. I saw open box. It was a X, it's the X. You come in the act like you are the sx excuse me, the as part of me. Yes, I saw the s is open box. Is I Different? Someone literally just open it, returned so he goes. That's what he was doing. It's only $18. Yeah, I was thinking about. I was like guardian, if it's like 15 to $16 less, maybe I'll just get it. I was I wonder if I'll just get it, just to have it. I was like, ah, that's what the $18 difference? So I can still hold off until the Microsoft has the game that I'm waiting for, which is gives a word. I thought again, I give you really to buy a Any kind Xbox console at the moment. That's what you can get me right now. I mean maybe favorite, for I'm big, I like people as well. But that's that, mike man, we'll see what's going on with Microsoft next year. And you know, shots of Sony for 15 minutes.

Speaker 1:

Units sold as damn skippy. All right, mr Maison, let's go to the Nintendo news.

Speaker 2:

Oh my king.

Speaker 1:

Yo Donkey Kong country. Guess what mr Maison is getting a reboot. Yep, nice, no no oh, what then? It's set to open spring 2024. Donkey Kong country will have an area in the Tendall theme park in Japan. Mr Maison, yes, it's finally happened.

Speaker 2:

First, my memories being seen us as we are in the theme parks that the one in Los Angeles open up yet I believe so it's open. I can't remember looking up.

Speaker 1:

I should look so I. Thought I thought Florida. But look at that real quick.

Speaker 2:

You were still universe studios. Let's see. So let's see if the Mario Team park. Oh, it looks like has been. Let's see.

Speaker 1:

I believe so.

Speaker 2:

Super Nintendo, world, universal Studios, hollywood. Let's see and gather some information for you guys. Oh, of course, my computer wants to.

Speaker 1:

Space and work fast. Come on, man Okay.

Speaker 2:

Do this because I think it's worth it.

Speaker 1:

So the agent want to draw a drag a boyfriend. I got paper.

Speaker 2:

Sorry, buddy, find your way.

Speaker 1:

Okay, but, mr Mason, yes, sir, the big attraction for this area is Donkey Kong country. Have a roller coaster based on the game. Oh, that's fun. Which is the? Um, you know the mine A car they have in the game. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I said I go to the DD Kyle.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so that's the main attraction for the area.

Speaker 2:

Okay, that's fun, that's a great idea actually. Yeah, it's cool. That's a great idea.

Speaker 1:

We think will happen next as. Additions. You have a digi. Anything was Zell. Look at work.

Speaker 2:

Anything was. I guess you do a little part of you have to be like a castle theme. I.

Speaker 1:

Will a Ouija mansion, great idea.

Speaker 2:

That's a great idea. I'm sure at the marriage was in Maricart. It's probably number one of the things already got there. I haven't been there but I'm pretty sure it is. What else can we implement in there?

Speaker 1:

I don't think pick me as I'll make it.

Speaker 2:

Well, I probably might not yet, oh that's something with. Yoshi, something where Yoshi's gonna be in there like a maybe like a carousel with Yoshi's different Yoshi colors. I can see that Well. I don't think.

Speaker 1:

Pokemon thing, a Pokemon definitely. Got their hands in Pokemon.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, definitely these will be additions as the park over the years come.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I can see that star.

Speaker 2:

Fox I Don't think suffers that. It's big to us but it's not a big enough where I think they'll make a theme, feature theme of it.

Speaker 1:

We're gonna do a star Fox like 3d or World Coastal movie thing when you know that people, universal, had that be you know they're the Harry Potter one like that, yes.

Speaker 2:

I'm like they could do that yeah they can do that I mean it's not a bad idea, but I don't think star fox is. There is one that's in mind right now. I'm sure there's a whole bunch of us that we're not thinking of right now.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so let's go on to Xbox news. Mr Maison, there was statement made by Xbox Xbox CFO, tim Stewart, who was saying the company mission is to bring their game perhaps description to every scream. Yes, which that means coming anywhere, your TV and also top anywhere and some kind of Jedi mind trick way saying that Maybe Sony, maybe Nintendo.

Speaker 2:

I guess it's a no, because we did what they spoke. I told you know.

Speaker 1:

I told you know why you keep doing that.

Speaker 2:

I see it, I see no. Might not now, but eventually.

Speaker 1:

I think it's gonna happen our homeboy, mr Spencer, cleared it up in the interview with Windows central central, saying that the description first will not come to the competitors, will not okay, but people change the mind. It's amazing he talks but, like I said, for Nowhere in hell that's coming to either Nintendo or PlayStation right now we don't see it Well.

Speaker 2:

Like I said, people change the mind, people say no and it becomes yes. Eventually We'll see. They can be so kind of merge where you could put a pass on a Nintendo switch if you allow Nintendo to whatever it is that they want in return.

Speaker 1:

Oh, those person made it was typically another interview saying they would not allow that people pick and choose what gaze and want to put them game pass. Oh, okay, so that's not gonna happen.

Speaker 2:

Okay, if you stand by that, then I mean I can't, I can't, I can't argue that.

Speaker 1:

All right, mr Maison, after, after shutting you down that was the answer say no thank you very much but we go to our trailer.

Speaker 2:

week Mr Maison's golfing Coming up, mr Maison is it like cartoon theme or is it like based on real people and Garfield and cat like? What theme did it go with?

Speaker 1:

mr Maison. It's our watch, listen. Let's go from there. All right, let's go, oh oh hi there little buddy.

Speaker 1:

You hungry little guy, and that's how I adopted John Say, when never John. I apologize in advance. The eating you're about to see will not be pretty, and if you have young children, this would be a good time for them to leave the room. Hey, my father, you ever jumped a train? I've never jumped. Is that stop really where? Oh, oh, you think he'd say that come Golf for the movie. Yes, it's anime, mr Maison, and I like it so far like what I saw it looks fun coming out summer 2024.

Speaker 1:

Mr Maison has the main characters as usual, od, the dog, yes Also.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, combination going on.

Speaker 1:

The same thing eating his fat. It's a good job to play his father.

Speaker 2:

Let's go. Let's go. It's like a family-orientated movie. It looks like it's gonna be a hit for summer 2024.

Speaker 1:

I just hope it's better than the golf field that Bill Murray played. You know, brownies? Yeah, it's not about you, brownie. The cat is here. Sorry, buddy, he wants to get part of action. But, mr Maison, the big question is do we green light it y'all light it or red light this?

Speaker 2:

That's a definitely for me on this one.

Speaker 1:

I know, I totally agree. We green light this trailer, mr Maison. Yes, sir, I, mr Maison. Let's go to our next topic. Mr Maison, I should we care. Topic of the week I should we care. Top of the week is Yo, mr Maison, guess what? No, you do our cancel the multiplayer game that was supposed to come out. Well, they're working out for several years. They just stood the other side that the multiplayer game and worth it, and that's that's not them. I'm very happy to do that. What was the reason? The thing is, should we care a lot, a little or not at all about?

Speaker 2:

this Not all, cuz I never saw anything of it. So I can't care if something I never saw was on anticipation and naughty dogs Not noted be a multiplayer Studio that does multiplayer games. So to me it's like I'm not missing out on nothing, so I don't care. I maybe I was curious, but curious gets me nowhere.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so I mean, this is our should we care? Topic of the week and I Might think I was interested seeing what's about. I'm not a big multiplayer. I mean it was your live-server game Because they had the previous last one was the first one. They had the multiplayer game, which is just a basic multiplayer game, that's. Then he had to keep putting More assets every year, like destiny and other live service games. So basically, you play with your friends, you might get a couple skins, my add, a couple extra maps, but that's something you're going to support for the three, five, ten years, got you? You know I'm saying so. So I guess, mr Masons, she do. You care a lot, a little, not at all. I think you already said it, but say it again.

Speaker 2:

I'm not at all because I can't miss something I never saw. I Don't know if I saw. If I saw trailers. I saw like clips in a game being developed. Man, I heard more noise. It was just noise to me, so to me Did not know for that. If you told me, yo, they had a new single player IP coming out.

Speaker 1:

I'm a little hurt because that's what they know for you, that's your know, for I told agree, I didn't see it, don't care. And then I know for that. Yeah, exactly, so we both give, we don't care yeah.

Speaker 2:

I don't care.

Speaker 1:

All right, mr Mason, let's go to a shadow of the week. We don't have a guest to me unless you have one. So I just went straight to the shower of the week. I mean they want to have a little bit old, but I mean the only thing I was. I mean I don't want to give the guys light, the people who actually Hacks, uh, insomniac, and say they're gays of the week.

Speaker 2:

You know, say so it ranks is gay. You stole people's problems. Yeah, so I didn't get in love for me for that one.

Speaker 1:

Now we didn't go mention them at all. Reference to this. But we go straight to the shower of the week and the shower that we go to rock steady. Uh, the recent Arkham asylum Trilogy. That's on the swiss mr Mason Actually gave out. Shout out to the late Kevin Conroy. Oh, nice.
