Let's do this. Welcome everybody to another episode of the Game of Traffic Show. I'm your host, mike Sansom. Tune in to my co-host. It's going to be amazing how you're doing today. Everybody get up for Mr Amazing. On today's Game of Traffic Show, we're going to talk about Sony's 30th anniversary. We're also going to talk about DLC for the Foxing game Undisputed. We're also going to talk about there's a documentary on Prime Video that many people might not know about. It's about one of the most famous sports franchise. We're going to talk about it right now. Listen to the podcast, you'll find out about it. But, mr Mason, begin today's show. Talk about yo, sony about to buy another studio and is this possible? Can you discuss? Mr Mason, you want to deep dive into it?
Speaker 2:Yeah, from my understanding is Sony is trying to land. I couldn't pronounce this properly. Kaidukawa Something like that, Kaidukawa, you know they're the one that they're the name of the company. Right, they're the name of the company. Yeah, but go ahead.
Speaker 1:But I think one of the main things they do do is animate, and you know, Sony owns Crunchyroll and Funimation and they also have animated studios with that company and also one of the key points with that, with the animation. Other stuff they do Film, Film production, Film production and also Mr Amazing video games.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and one of the bigger developers is From Software.
Speaker 1:From Software.
Speaker 2:And a lot of you guys might know this company for making games as Dark Souls. And another big one is Elden Ring. Elden- Ring. So nothing's happening from my understanding, unless something happened that I don't know about is that Sony is inquiring about it. There hasn't been any movement yet.
Speaker 1:And also the company's interested in only doing business with Sony. Only yes, they are.
Speaker 2:So this is good, this will be a good. I'm not going to say it's up there with Ubisoft. No, no.
Speaker 1:Ubisoft was garbage. Ubisoft contract, I think this is up. I mean, as far as you think it's better than Ubisoft contract, it's better. It's better what they're getting, what they're getting versus Ubisoft.
Speaker 2:I mean, you're getting more for your buck, but the contract with Ubisoft, they got a big acquisition. I feel like when they got that.
Speaker 1:Wait, look, I drank the Kool-Aid. Okay, I drank the Kool-Aid because they were making, so you talking about.
Speaker 2:Ubisoft yeah, when Microsoft purchased that.
Speaker 1:Microsoft didn't purchase Ubisoft.
Speaker 2:What the hell are you talking about Activision? Pardon me, sorry. What the hell you talking about Activision? Pardon me, sorry, my bad, I have my. I was saying when Microsoft purchased Activision.
Speaker 1:That's all I had to say Ubisoft I was wondering what the hell you talking about Ubisoft. I think it was Sony and Bungie.
Speaker 2:You said Sony and Bungie do you think this acquisition is as big as Microsoft acquisition of Activision? No, it's not as big.
Speaker 1:You know how many studios? They got Like 10 studios out of Activision besides Blizzard, then buying machines games, all the other studios, other further acquisitions. No, this is still a key acquisition of what Sony's getting for because, like I said, it's not only video games but anime and movie production as well.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's why I was trying to compare it to Microsoft's biggest one. That's why I was like, oh, can this be up there? As far as video games.
Speaker 1:No, it's not as big as Microsoft, no, but I think it's big overall. I think it's more.
Speaker 2:It's well-rounded.
Speaker 1:Well-rounded yes.
Speaker 2:Okay, I can live with that. So, my thing is do you think this is going to happen and put a dollar sign on it? I mean.
Speaker 1:I mean a lot of employees are very happy, okay so this is going to happen that Sony would do this, and a lot of employees are upset the way the management has been treating the employees after there was a recent I believe there was a recent, I believe there was a recent hack, and other employees weren't even notified when the hack happened. So so I think the price Put a price, put a dollar sign on it. Michael, I'm not putting a price on it because right now, of course, like financial experts in the article with I don't care.
Speaker 2:I said before we get to that, put a price here. What have we been scared? To give numbers, michael, to give to traffic For example Five billion, five billion.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Five billion. Yeah, I think that's kind of low, that's five billion. I mean Activision went for 68.7 million.
Speaker 1:They're not getting that much money. I know that, I know that, but I'm saying that's kind of low for a company that you see world-rounded? Yeah, but the company is, according to Elden Ring Dark.
Speaker 2:Souls, things like that Anime.
Speaker 1:No, but according to reports for IGN, the company is probably worth $4.3 billion. How much is it worth $ 4.3 billion? How much is it worth 4.3 billion? That's his network yes, also, he's not that's. That's it could cost, plus the plus. The price of the stocks went up when you heard about Sony possibly purchasing the company so. So then, maybe your 5 billion might be too much 5 billion is a good round off number and they want to sell the door. You're wrong. I'm looking at it right now.
Speaker 2:What it says Caruaca Corporation. This is the number they're throwing at it.
Speaker 1:What it's worth, what According to this, to buy it out, to buy it.
Speaker 2:It's a market cap at 3.92 actually. No, you're right, that's about the ballpark, you're right Again.
Speaker 1:it was amazing how many times you must get this Before you disrespect Mike.
Speaker 2:Sands and show. We'll round it up to 4 billion. 3.9. We'll round it up to 4 billion.
Speaker 1:Damn it. Disrespected Mike. Damn, yeah, I mean it'd be a great acquisition for it.
Speaker 3:But how much in yen? A lot, I mean a lot.
Speaker 1:Six point billion in yen, a lot. All right, mr Amazing, I think that's what.
Speaker 2:I was looking at. Oh yeah, that's exactly what I was looking at. I figured I was looking at it in yen.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you're right, I figure. But, like I said, sony has to watch their back because, due to the we'll say Concord debacle, bungie debacle, you know what I'm saying. So they're looking like yo. They have to make sure that if they do purchase this company, it's the right choice for them and they're going to make their money back.
Speaker 2:Okay, fair.
Speaker 1:And it'd be you know back, Okay, fair, and it'd be a win-win for Sony to get profits.
Speaker 2:So this is happening. We both think it's happening.
Speaker 1:I don't know what's happening. So we know Sony got Microsoft deep pockets.
Speaker 2:No, no, we know that. I think it's going to happen. It'll happen, I think, sometime by late second quarter of next year. That's what I think. That's my prediction.
Speaker 1:And also one of the and also one of the games they developed. One of the companies developed games for actually Nintendo. I forgot what company.
Speaker 2:Oh, I didn't know that that's a fact. Might be a Drop of Jewels.
Speaker 1:It's like what would you do with that company? You'd tell them to stop working with Nintendo.
Speaker 2:They might have the Microsoft Outlook.
Speaker 1:I mean, like I said, Horizon. Horizon has a game, lego game on Switch.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so that's what I'm saying the Microsoft Outlook.
Speaker 1:I think I, if I was sorry, let's let it go, let it be, let's get that money.
Speaker 2:Of course I'm with you on that one.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so We'll get that money. So, mr Amazing, you say late next year, second quarter. What's second quarter? June, that would be May.
Speaker 2:Like May, yeah, around there, may June, yeah, you're right.
Speaker 1:If you do hear about it, it'll probably be March. March, february, that's like in the first quarter March February.
Speaker 2:That's first quarter then.
Speaker 1:Yeah, march, february. Okay, I doubt they're going to let it linger this long. We'll find out, ladies and gentlemen, but the company, well, we're actually requesting, yeah, what would be a company that you would think would be a knockout for Sony to buy.
Speaker 2:Studio or company.
Speaker 1:We'll say company.
Speaker 2:A company. Developer, For Sony to purchase.
Speaker 1:That would be a knockout Like you're like oh, the oh-ish effect. That would be a knockout Like yo, you're like oh.
Speaker 2:Oh, the oh-ish effect. That's a good one.
Speaker 1:I think I know one off the top of my head what.
Speaker 2:Rockstar.
Speaker 1:Yeah, rockstar would be good, but Capcom, capcom.
Speaker 2:I was thinking Capcom too, but I was like eh, they have a lot. They have a lot from Street Fighter to Marvel games and all those stuff and a lot of franchises a lot of franchises, that would be a big one too that's a knockout though it would be not to have those games on Xbox or the Switch? That would be actually that's a good one you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1:so Rockstar would be a good one, but Rockstar, they don't need it. They don't need it though they don't need to, but it's like the only time they come out with a game, maybe five years, maybe five years.
Speaker 2:It's always a banger, though I'll give you that. Yeah, I mean for now. Mike, for now they're going on 20-something plus years of. Every game they drop is a banger. When they won Rockstar and even when they diversified other ones besides the Grand Theft, mortals, the LA Noirs, the Red Deads it was a good game, but not a banger.
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 2:LA Noirs.
Speaker 1:I disagree. It's not a no. What do you consider a banger?
Speaker 2:Triple A.
Speaker 1:Triple A. What cause Triple A, triple.
Speaker 2:A gained that that made its money oversold the one that was projected to sell man how did you get the team out doing it?
Speaker 1:How much did it sell LA Noire?
Speaker 2:It probably sold a lot because, remember, they re-released it Remember it was released on the Sony. Then it released on the Switch, then it re-released the thing you think it sold.
Speaker 1:How much do you think it sold?
Speaker 2:Oh my God, that's a how many.
Speaker 1:Do you think it sold?
Speaker 2:You think it's that high 25 million or close to it.
Speaker 1:No, hell no.
Speaker 2:Or close to it. What are the numbers? You might speak up the numbers, y'all. Wait, wait, wait. Before you get the numbers, give me your number. Give me your number before you put up the numbers. Give me the number before you go in there. Man, there, what is it? I say 25.
Speaker 1:Oh, so around 5 million.
Speaker 2:LA Noire yes, no, no, no, no. Ladies and gentlemen, I have to go for myself, because there's no way that you didn't win so 5 million, 5 million.
Speaker 1:I would be a jerk if I said 10. Let me find out.
Speaker 2:You said about 20 million, I did 25.
Speaker 1:I said no, no, no 25. Well, where's the?
Speaker 2:sequel bro.
Speaker 1:Mr Amazing, get out of here no, no, no, I'm gonna look.
Speaker 2:There's no RV. It shipped 4 million since the first one, so no, no, no, let's see. How did LA know? I saw. La suck, as you say it has 7.5 million worldwide by September of 2017.
Speaker 1:Okay, I don't know what number you looking at that's the first number I got, but still I don't know what number you're looking at.
Speaker 2:That's the first number I got, but still 2017, it had sold, but remember, it got re-released though, so I think it might be a little bit more than that, but regardless, I was way off still, yes, you were.
Speaker 1:You're still way off, Mr Maze. What are you talking about? No, I was.
Speaker 2:Come on, come on, come on, but I think maybe 10. Which I would say I feel like it's it's. It's a good, it's good. I think it's a good number. It ain't freaking, god of War numbers.
Speaker 1:That's amazing, I would say nobody cared for a sequel. No sequel happened, I cared for it.
Speaker 2:But you know, rockstar doesn't make sequels that easily.
Speaker 1:Look how long Max Payne. Max Payne has not had a sequel, exactly.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but let's say look how long it takes them to make Gazebo. The only one I can be consistent with is Grand Theft Auto.
Speaker 1:That's the only one I can be consistent with yeah, consistent with remasters.
Speaker 2:Yeah, remastered. Well, that too how long.
Speaker 1:How long Grand Theft Auto Been out 2012? And still it's been in like Three different systems.
Speaker 2:I know, and it's crazy People tell me I'm like no, it hasn't. I'm like no, you're lying, it hasn't been in that long I feel like it just came out.
Speaker 1:Come on 2013, come on man. Five different systems.
Speaker 2:Remastered. They rock out of their games and it came with a Grand Theft Auto collection.
Speaker 1:Yeah, collection, that was what Mr Mazin Tell me. What happened when that collection came out? What happened, let me remind you it was buggy.
Speaker 2:Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it was buggy, that is true, I can't deny that.
Speaker 1:Listen, stop. Let's not act like, whether it's Sony or Xbox, dead Juno, don't stink.
Speaker 2:No, of course that happens to everybody At the end of the day.
Speaker 1:Stop it. Stop it Because you're a big LA Noire fan. I was a big fan of it. I was a big fan. I like it. He thinks it was what's the show you used to watch? You watch HBO Boardwalk. Oh, I love.
Speaker 2:Boardwalk. I wouldn't say LA Noire, but let me ask you a question, because LA Noire, and what's that game on Sony that was very popular that was similar. Was it Heavy Rain? I think it was. Heavy Rain is not that, no, but it was like a detective game, am I not wrong? Similar concept, I'm saying no, no, no. You want to say it was like that. No I feel like it was I don't know, but LA Love was good. How do you feel like I was a detective?
Speaker 1:No, I didn't say LA Love. Like I said, I bought it. Did you beat it? I wasn't interested.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay, okay, we got to talk about games. Hold on. Hold on, because I didn't. It's not about beating, hold on hold on Some games.
Speaker 1:You know, after a while I get into it Control I wasn't into it either.
Speaker 2:I could not get into it. It's a great game, though by the standards of the show. Yeah.
Speaker 1:I tried.
Speaker 2:Me too, I sold mine, I sold mine, I sold mine too.
Speaker 1:I couldn't get into it. My thing is it's. It's not bad. It just didn't pique my interest. But you didn't get a chance. I feel I didn't get a chance. That's good for you, because you're not Mike.
Speaker 2:You're not Mike. Go ahead. When you put the game in, did you get past the opening screen?
Speaker 1:Did you get past the opening screen? Yes, I got past the opening screen.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:Did you do at least one mission?
Speaker 2:Yes, I did one mission and you didn't find it interesting with a bit of the. I wasn't in the mood for it. Let me ask you a question. This is unrelated to the game.
Speaker 1:I don't know what game was out at that time to occupy my time, so it probably it probably some other games that I thought was more interesting to me at the time the LA Noire.
Speaker 2:So the reason I like LA Noire is because I love a show called Dexter. We never spoke about that.
Speaker 1:I watch Dexter. So how do?
Speaker 2:you watch Dexter and not be interested in LA Noire. That's totally different.
Speaker 1:The guy's killing people. Well I know, but he's the guy's officer who's solving the case is killing the people.
Speaker 2:Well, and let's jump. Dexter dropped today actually.
Speaker 1:We got to shout out to De oh, my God, mr Amazing. Let's go to the next topic. The next topic is. The next topic is PlayStation 30 year anniversary just happened.
Speaker 2:That Damn Mike. He don't got the buttons ready. I'm sorry.
Speaker 1:Damn, he got no batteries in here.
Speaker 2:Damn, he did a show that's been off for a while. Yo, I'm trying to get the hype sound. Here we go, oh boy.
Speaker 1:Sony. I'm trying to get the hype sound. Here we go. Sony recently sold like their 30th anniversary. It's amazing they're blowing up. As we know, we discussed it in previous shows they gave out, not gave out, sorry. They made new 30-year consoles the slim version and the pro version. Pro version, you can get it. Why would you want to pay for it?
Speaker 2:Yeah, no, you got to go deep pockets for this and I know I'm being what.
Speaker 1:Thank you here.
Speaker 2:It's the 30th anniversary for the original song in Japan and it comes from North America until 95. I know, not relevant. We know that. I know that I got to put that out there. I got to put that out there yo.
Speaker 1:It's the 30th anniversary based on Japan release yeah, so that's when it gave birth.
Speaker 2:But my thing is next year are we celebrating the 30th anniversary again for the North American release? Do people celebrate that?
Speaker 1:It's amazing. Why would you celebrate that?
Speaker 2:Because technically we got it in 95.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but it was, it came out that particular day.
Speaker 2:Were you playing it in 94? What the fuck? No, no, no, no, no, no. Were you playing it in 94?
Speaker 1:No.
Speaker 2:Then you don't know what 30 years ago you was playing it. So it's 95.
Speaker 1:What the hell are you talking about? You're talking about the 30s y'all.
Speaker 2:When did it come out? It came out.
Speaker 1:Yes in Japan, but it's okay KK. Let's say you have a car, a Toyota, whatever Camry it came out in 2024, whatever yeah To Japan. And it come a year later. Yeah, it still came out early in Japan first. That's the birth of the car.
Speaker 2:So what's the big deal? The big deal is we weren't privy to it yet. So what? You and I were stuck on our Nintendo. We didn't know this yet I don't know. We didn't know this yet. You'll probably get your argument. Your point is real stupid, idiotic point no, it's not, it's the 30.
Speaker 1:When it came out, I said that's where, regardless when it, where it it actually gave birth to. Yes, it came out that day, december of that year, and in Japan, I never said that that's the birth of the PlayStation.
Speaker 2:You're not wrong.
Speaker 1:You are right, in general, worldwide. That's the birth.
Speaker 2:You're right but I'm just technical to let you know. It came out, we got it in 95. For us, our 30 year is 95. But you're right, the birth is in 94. So what the hell are you talking?
Speaker 1:about.
Speaker 2:You're right, we got almost a year later.
Speaker 1:So this is the most idiotic one of the most idiotic things you made on the show. Listen, I'm just facts. What facts, what facts. It came to the US at that time.
Speaker 2:It came to the US in September of 95.
Speaker 1:We're not opening the 30th year anniversary in the US.
Speaker 2:I am I am.
Speaker 1:You're the only fool doing that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but the whole episode was on September 9th of 1995.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I know you were doing that by your damn self, September. Whoever I'm saying right now, give me traffic, Stupid stuff.
Speaker 2:Whoever wants to join me September 9th of 2025, we're going to pop off the real 30. How's it real? How's it real In North America? Shut the hell up. Let me finish what I said Shut the hell up. We'll continue on, michael.
Speaker 1:Continue on with the show. Shut the hell up. This is the most ridiculous take you had. Continue on, mike. It's like oh my God Yo it's facts.
Speaker 2:Oh, my God Next thing we can talk about the real 30th, but for now, who's on the real 30th?
Speaker 1:the real 30th is in Japan. That's when it launched, you're right. That's when it launched, you're right. If it was Japan, you'd go pick it up, right, yeah, and then are you going to say one god damn word on the screen.
Speaker 2:You're going to say one god damn word on the screen, michael. No, you was not, it doesn't matter you don't know what they're saying.
Speaker 1:You don't know when to hit start.
Speaker 2:Get out of here, michael.
Speaker 1:Come on.
Speaker 2:Continue the talk.
Speaker 1:Okay, as Mr Maynard said, the Playstation Officially gave birth On December 3rd 1994 In Japan. The North American release happens September 9th 1995. Oh, and the European release happened the same time, mr and Mrs.
Speaker 3:Amazing yeah, but 20 days later.
Speaker 1:Yes, the 29th. Yeah, 29th so, as you said, but also one of the key topics for the sets of the Sony PlayStation. The first one was what, Mr Amazing?
Speaker 2:The key sets of the PlayStation. The first one.
Speaker 1:Yes, one of the key things.
Speaker 2:Online.
Speaker 1:That's because it's two, that's because it's two, because the PlayStation 1 ran from 1994 to 2006 and sold over 102 million. 102 million, yeah, you're right, and it had what Mr Amazing.
Speaker 2:It had what I don't remember. It had so many stuff. A CD player, oh, I don't remember, it had so many stuff.
Speaker 1:Cd player, oh, be the first oh, okay, also played CD player Now you're talking about the hardware.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it was one of the first disc systems that made discs for games.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and they played music. And they played music, they played music?
Speaker 2:I can't remember. Were you able to watch movies yet on that? No, no, not yet.
Speaker 1:Okay, movies yet on that, no, not yet.
Speaker 2:No, that's not yet.
Speaker 1:And plus, they also had. How many models Of the PS1?
Speaker 2:Yeah, they had several of them.
Speaker 1:No, they had two.
Speaker 2:No the.
Speaker 1:PS1? Ps1. They had a PS. Oh yeah, they had a PS launch model and a PS1. That's it.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, you're right.
Speaker 1:And it also had the portable PS1 combo pack.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, I remember that too. You got that.
Speaker 1:I saw it in a retro store, something for 200 bucks. I thought about getting it, but I was like ah nah, but let me jump into something.
Speaker 2:So, like Mike, I'm going to piggyback on a little bit of what you just said. It ran from 94 to 2006, which is a long time for a system. That's not the number one, because I think it ran longer than the PS2. Am I not wrong?
Speaker 1:I think the PS2 ran longer, that's 12 years?
Speaker 2:Wasn't PS2 running for more than 12 years? Before the next release Alright, but we'll figure that out. But what I loved about when the PS1 came out was what most systems at the time were coming out with was a demo disc when you could preview games, play the demo and get you hyped for the next game. Please bring that back.
Speaker 1:I don't know. They do have demos.
Speaker 2:No, but the whole. I'm not having that dissing that. You popped it in. They didn't have point no discs. I mean, you can go online and look at stuff. They didn't have point no discs.
Speaker 1:We talking about demos in the PS5 in At that time?
Speaker 2:Yeah, at that time. I think that was so cool.
Speaker 1:But that was a couple of magazines as well. Well, that is true. So if we buy a PlayStation Mag or Xbox magazine, or even the Trotter Game Monthly might maybe have one once in a while. So I don't want Mr Mazes to come with that.
Speaker 2:But but another thing is it dropped with only what? Is it one controller, right? Yeah, it became.
Speaker 1:When it released it was one controller no, it says it came with two controllers.
Speaker 2:No, no, not two well, they did tell a couple of controls I can't remember no, because they had two different controllers that came out during that time period you know what you know. What I don't remember, honestly, is the price of a PS1 when it released. That's what I don't remember.
Speaker 1:I don't remember. Off the top of my head, you think it was $200?.
Speaker 2:Or $150? I don't know. Let me Google it that way. You keep talking about the show. I'm going to Google it because I think that's important to point out. What was the price point of it when it first released? $300? Nah, I was going. I don't own that much, no $199.
Speaker 1:That's what I think it was too. It's $199. That's for sure or not.
Speaker 2:No, I think it's $199. Not for sure. Okay, let's see PlayStation 1 course at release At the time. Let's see. Wow, we were both wrong, yo what $250? $299. I didn't think it was that much money yo.
Speaker 1:I remember you said $300.
Speaker 2:You did I mean I re-bought that because I was like nah, it couldn't be that much money $95 for that that's crazy. My mom actually bought me that. Maybe my brother bought it. My brother was over 18 at that time. My brother must have bought that, because that's the only way, my mom was going to pay that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it also came during that time, but they had three controllers. They had the original, they had the dual analog controller and the dual socket controller. During the time period of the playstation one. Go ahead, mike. And it came with like they had four different colors five green, blue, see through black and then regular color, gray.
Speaker 2:Oh, that's dope. To give you just a little bit back on the price, to give you guys a comparison of what that is in today's price of the PS1, what do you think it is?
Speaker 1:Five.
Speaker 2:Oh, you're in the ballpark. Yeah, it's. $581.07 is what the PS1 costs in today's market, which is crazy. That's a lot of money. I didn't realize it cost that much money, yo Damn. I need to go tell my parents thank you, but that's what's up though.
Speaker 1:Ungrateful kid.
Speaker 2:I think I was, because I don't remember being that much money, but hey, I wasn't paying for it, so I didn't care.
Speaker 1:So what kind of iconic games do you think?
Speaker 2:happened on time period, I got me Go ahead, break it down. I'll name, well, obviously, the games that it came with, or well as the release games. Ridge Racer dropped to 94.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:And Tekken 94 as well. Okay, wipeout, that was a big game. 95. This game's still going legendary. What 96? This game is still going legendary. What in 96 we had Tomb Raider. I know you don't like this game, but it was just like that. The rapper, yeah. 96 also yup, this game was a game changer.
Speaker 1:Resident Evil this is true 96.
Speaker 2:This was big too. Crash, bandicoot, bandicoot, bandicoot, yup this game. Oh my god, this is probably the face of the franchise. Some people can argue Final Fantasy, and another one people can argue is Gran Turismo, also in 97 and this is one of my favorite games, I know you don't like it, but one of my favorite games dropped in 97 as world is Oddworld.
Speaker 2:I know you that wasn't your thing, but that was one of my favorite games. Yeah, whatever. Oh, I don't think it's any bigger than this. I know I keep saying that, but MGS, metal Gear Solid.
Speaker 1:Yeah, most definitely 98.
Speaker 2:There's so many more. Man, what did I miss that you won't throw in there?
Speaker 1:No, I think you did a good job, okay, okay. Well, mr Amazing, let's go to what? Mr amazing? Playstation 2, baby. All right, let's go. Let's go. The number one selling console of all time, mr amazing. How many consoles you sell, mr amazing, tell the people.
Speaker 2:What are we at? 200 something million? I forgot what it is. What is it?
Speaker 1:160 million 160.
Speaker 2:No, it's 160 million for ps2 ps2 I thought it was more than that.
Speaker 1:No, Mr Amazing.
Speaker 2:Okay, well, it is in the most in the console for now. Remember, I've been telling you guys that for a while For now. But yeah, and that was released, Michael, when was that released?
Speaker 1:That was released in Japan March 4th 2000 and according to according to Mr Amazing, the real release date is October 26th 2000 in America. In Europe, a month later, november 24th 2000. Mr Amazing, yeah right 160 million but the main thing for this, mr Amazing, another key component what, mr Amazing?
Speaker 2:for what? For the?
Speaker 1:PlayStation 2, a key component for the.
Speaker 2:Oh, mr Amazing For what? For the PlayStation 2. A key component for the oh, that. Oh, I guess, since we're talking about the last one, I'm going to say it's the. You can watch movies and stuff on that one.
Speaker 1:Yeah, dvd player, man and internet, that's what we got you just an internet right Also? Yes, because I think.
Speaker 2:Dreamcast came out at that time too well, but followed by that, should I jump into it go? Ahead followed by the PS2. We didn't get the release.
Speaker 1:Well, also, I gotta say that well, they also had a slim model for the PS2 yeah, and we also have to say PSP came out around that same time frame.
Speaker 2:Yes, it did. Yeah, we gotta say that. So then we jump to about 7 years later. We are then blessed with a PS3.
Speaker 1:Between 2007 to 2011 was a shelf life for that system before we go jump to PS3 what kind of iconic games came out with the PS2? Oh god, the knockout system.
Speaker 2:You missed the games oh, okay, you jumped over the games. You jumped at it because I gave you the games for the other PS4. Why don't you start with this one? What is one of your top PS2 games, mr Mason?
Speaker 1:you what you tell me.
Speaker 2:Oh, I just got a war. You already know that.
Speaker 1:Oh, they say that.
Speaker 2:Got a war, followed by what's yours.
Speaker 1:Resident Evil 4. Absolutely Agree with you Tower of Coloss, ratchet and Clack.
Speaker 2:Killzone. We'll never forget about that, because that's what you know Metal Gear Solid, not Metal.
Speaker 1:Gear Solid Metal Gear. Solid Ico one of my favorite games of all time. I love that game, ico. I didn't know that. Yeah, twisted Metal Black, that was very fun. I used to play that a lot. Love that I couldn't get into Cypher.
Speaker 2:Filter. That was fun. And what about? Oh no, no, the Sonic Run system?
Speaker 1:yeah, cypher Filter for sure so there are many other games that came out, but those are some of the notable ones. Those are some of the notable ones that you mentioned yup, I agree now.
Speaker 2:Can I continue now? Yes, you may continue you just glossed over the PS no, you're right, the PS is the number one selling system of all time, so I got to give that love.
Speaker 1:Well, psp, how many PSP you just glossed over?
Speaker 2:it. Psp was in my thing so I'll let you drop with that one. I didn't mess with the PSP, to be honest with you.
Speaker 1:I didn't mess with the PSP either because I'm not really a handheld person. Okay, but also people were minding it too yeah.
Speaker 3:I know that I do enjoy breaking it yeah.
Speaker 1:so, mr May you go off to PS3 go right ahead.
Speaker 2:Alright, ps3. It had a shelf life from 2007 to 2011, and within that same shelf life, we were also previewed to the PS Vita. Yes, and you know it's funny, because out of all the Sony systems, I feel the PS3 is the least successful one, and what I mean by that is not by numbers, but, I think, by the games that were released around that time. No, no, I think it's the most successful one.
Speaker 1:I think it's the most. They had a slow start Because the Xbox 360 came out a year before, a year before it came out and and the price point was ridiculous of course, and the hack remember the hack that killed it too sorry, excuse me people, also the hack yeah the hack, the hack could help. So the hack, I mean it did have strong numbers, so I shouldn't.
Speaker 2:It came out it was.
Speaker 1:I think it's a co-class system.
Speaker 2:It was but A lot of people. I still think it's one of these favorite systems out of all of Sony systems.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, yeah, I totally agree. I totally agree. I think it's a co-class and people appreciate the PS3 now Absolutely.
Speaker 2:I mean I, I got loud at you.
Speaker 1:It was backwards compatible too.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it was bulky, though it's not like I didn't like it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but I think one of the guys at RetroStory was saying that the PS Slim was also backwards compatible. Oh yeah, I don't know if he's correct or something. It's in the PSL, depending on the model.
Speaker 2:Your favorite game on PS3 was. Uncharted I already stole my thunder. I was going to say the same thing too, so we both agree on that.
Speaker 1:And it sold 87 million units worldwide.
Speaker 2:Uncharted yes.
Speaker 1:Wow, not Uncharted the PS3.
Speaker 3:Oh, PS3 in general.
Speaker 2:Okay, ps3? Don't worry, that'd be crazy.
Speaker 1:Oh no, no. Also like one of my favorite games that came out Motorstorm, that Motorstorm.
Speaker 2:That was my favorite series Motorstorm. We used to play that all the time.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, that was very fun actually that was played all the time.
Speaker 2:You know, it sucks for me because, as great as the PS3 was and Lady Jedi, it was.
Speaker 1:But also you play Resistant Fall of man, which was hot. Yeah, we did play that a lot. Killzone was hot.
Speaker 2:Killzone was hot.
Speaker 1:yes, no the thing with me with the PS3 was this is where I kind of left Sony.
Speaker 2:Infamous. I had all these games but I never got. You never put your hand on the Infamous. I had Infamous, I still got it to this day.
Speaker 1:I still got it. Who got it? When you got it, I gave it to you. You stole it from me.
Speaker 2:No, I bought it from Miss yo. I had it my cousins. That's the time I never got to enjoy the PS3. Because I became an Xbox fanatic.
Speaker 1:Anybody who knows listen to the podcast. The story I told how Mr Mays got a PS3 and then to his relatives and never got it back.
Speaker 2:That is true. Because, I was an Xbox Xbox.
Speaker 1:Brody Strop, bro, strop I really was man.
Speaker 2:I was into the Avatar. I was into their free games. I was into everything the Xbox. At that time they had no free games.
Speaker 1:Sony was the first one that came with the free games.
Speaker 2:No, xbox had free games. Remember they had the free games where you could like, do the tracks and stuff with them. They had those. They had those. I don't know if you remember you talk about free games.
Speaker 1:Games like video games.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it was a game, it was a football game. And how can you forget the best freaking?
Speaker 1:bad games. What free game? I'm talking about free games like video games.
Speaker 2:Mike, I gave you a freaking Burger King game. How can you forget that?
Speaker 1:See, guys, the PSP came with one of the most classic, iconic game of all time, free, no.
Speaker 3:Oh.
Speaker 1:Last of Us.
Speaker 3:Oh, the fourth. Yeah, the game that I bought. I can't argue that I gave him a remaster and he never played it.
Speaker 1:I hate it. He played a little bit of it and he couldn't get past it.
Speaker 2:I got to stop playing it. I'm so embarrassed.
Speaker 1:You know what? You know what, if I say the part, you guys think I'm even so embarrassed.
Speaker 2:No, no, no. This is a PSA for every gamer, and just gamers in general. If you have a game you're excited to play, a game that you really like and you really want to play, do not play that game when you're half asleep Because it takes away from. I think that's what happened to me with Control. I think that's what happened to me with Uncharted. I to me with Uncharted. I mean not Uncharted, but the Last of.
Speaker 1:Us. No Contra. I played full of awake. I did not want to play no more.
Speaker 2:No, that's what happened to me, man. Like you're half asleep, you're playing it and you don't appreciate it. Because I'm like, why does everybody like Contra so much? Like I don't see the uh in it and it sucks to you and I know, I know I'm in the minority, I'm not saying it.
Speaker 1:Mass Effect yo, I couldn't get to Mass Effect the first one, all that reading a lot of people couldn't get to Mass Effect the first one I gave it to.
Speaker 2:Margot game, yeah, but people look at it like I'm crazy, yo, you didn't play Mass Effect. I'm like yo, I'm sorry Mass Effect was one of them for me though, man, but like I said, it's not a bad game no Mass Effect.
Speaker 1:No, it was not a good, no Mass. Effect was not a good one, not a great game.
Speaker 2:No don't say it to Mass Effect. I don't give a.
Speaker 1:I would say it to anyone, anywhere, any place, any way, how I want to say it, it was not a good freaking game.
Speaker 2:It should get canceled now. Great job, Mike. Not a good freaking game.
Speaker 1:Mike Sansa said so.
Speaker 2:They don't care what your opinion is.
Speaker 1:They don't have to care what my opinion. You know what I'm saying. Anybody write their opinion. They like that game. Do I like that game? No, it was a sale of Mass Effect One got great. I doubt it, mr Mason. I doubt it. Did it get a sequel? And the sequel blew up? Yes, I love that. What happened to part 3?
Speaker 2:people, I won't say the word part 3 was a mixed reaction, I would say part 3 people.
Speaker 1:I understand what people are saying. All your decisions are making and everybody came with the same goddamn ending oh, okay, that's what you're saying, but in real life. So they all. You can't stop the end.
Speaker 2:That's true, you know what I'm saying it gave you a different experience of the game, but the game. What's the right word? Not tunnel vision, but this is the right word? I can't think of the word right now.
Speaker 1:It all concluded to the same thing. Put it like this After two, the game fell off. You, the game fell off.
Speaker 2:You think we'll see a new one on the Xbox or PlayStation?
Speaker 1:We're supposed to be working on a new one, oh okay, should be interesting. Let's go back.
Speaker 2:Let's get back to focus. So now we'll go back to after the PS3. There were obviously 2013 to 2016. I don't sound right.
Speaker 1:Yeah, 2013 to 2016 is the PlayStation 4. And PSVR, and PSVR, and PSVR was introduced. But it's amazing, before we go back, I'm going to go back to you again. Forgot something motion controls for the PS3, yes remember the big motion control with PS3 because of the Wii and by the Kinect, we had to add the move you had it, but the thing is that that's what it is.
Speaker 2:That's what it gave right, because we had to connect. I met your question what was better, the connect or the move? We, no, no, no, I was going to get to that. I was setting it up for that. Actually, what was better, the connect or the other?
Speaker 1:move. I'm still waiting for that little boy. What was his name? Albie, whatever? Oh, that never showed up.
Speaker 2:Okay, go ahead. I see what you're saying about the Kinect was better, but remember, the Kinect to be effective, what did you need? Space? Because, remember, we were playing games, we weren't in the box that you had to be. Yeah, it was like, oh, that hurt the Kinect, that hurt the Kinect, the move, the move. I feel the thing wasn't reacting as good. It was fancy, it was cuter, but it didn't react as good. But at the end of the day, we had that locked down because you didn't need that much space to do what you needed to do.
Speaker 1:Godfather locked it down.
Speaker 2:They locked that one down but alright, man, let's continue, because I know we got a lot more show to go. We got weren't in today's generation, where it's the PS5 and the PSVR 2 that's still ongoing that obviously all who know dropped in 2020, still ongoing, going strong, it's amazing.
Speaker 1:You still holding it. It's amazing, yeah, what hit games happened to PS4? You up here dropping stuff. You ain't tell the sales. How many systems was sell when the PS4 came out, mr Maze 2013 2013.
Speaker 2:That's 4K. Wow, Mr Maze. 2013. 2013. I'm going to exact date. You can put that on me if you remember when 2013. I'm going to date you November 15, 2013.
Speaker 1:November 15, 2013. Released in North America. Mr Maze should be happy it released before Japan, Mr.
Speaker 2:Maze. All right, now that's a 230 anniversary in North America.
Speaker 1:Then we got November 29th in Europe and Japan February 22nd 2014. First fair over the year, mr Amazing AY Japan, please buy chips now.
Speaker 3:Sponsors for Mr Amazing.
Speaker 2:Remarks I love my Japanese games.
Speaker 1:Yeah, okay, Mr Amazing. What key games came out? Mr Amazing PS4? Yes, Mr Amazing, Uncharted's Four.
Speaker 2:Yes, Mr Amazing Uncharted is obviously going to be there.
Speaker 3:Uncharted what.
Speaker 2:Uncharted. 3, right no 4. What is it 3? 4 4, yeah, 4. I had the collection pack, so that was dope. Oh my God, here's where I have so many games.
Speaker 1:Even Uncharted Ghost of.
Speaker 2:Sh Horizon Zero, horizon Zero.
Speaker 1:Dawn Until.
Speaker 2:Dawn, until Dawn. That's a few.
Speaker 1:Bloodborne.
Speaker 2:I'm trying to think there's so many Street Fighter 5, oh my god, mortal Kombat.
Speaker 1:That's, by the way, multi-platinum games. No, I know.
Speaker 2:But those are some Hits. There's so many of them, man. Those are some of the Key games we mentioned.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and also God of War, god of War 2018. Right, uh, there's so many of them, man, um those, those are some of the key games we mentioned. Yeah, absolutely, and also so God of War.
Speaker 2:God of War 2018 right. God of War yeah, that's the number one game of all time. Is it more than Grand Theft Auto?
Speaker 1:it is right, yeah it's more than one Grand Theft Auto is number one.
Speaker 2:I believe Grand Theft Auto is number one no, god of War was the most popular game of all time. It got something. We got what? What are you talking about? We did this in the show God of War 2018 PS4 for that year. No, no, no.
Speaker 1:I have to go back we did an episode of it. Let's just forego that I don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker 2:No, but the God of War. That God of War was named the number one, something. I can't remember what it is. I can't remember if it was the game or it was named the number one, most popular game of all time.
Speaker 1:I can't remember what show it was we spoke. Come back to it we won't come back to it. We're not going to come back to the base. God of War 2018. We're not going to come back to it, I mean you're going to look for it now.
Speaker 2:You're not going to come back to it.
Speaker 1:I'm looking for it right now. If you got two stages, you can give me like one minute. Oh yeah, but also PS4 had sold over 117 million units nice uh, what else came out? Slim Model 2 and, mr Mays, you also forgot, oh, spiderman also, spiderman, also one of the greatest hits we also forgot to mention, mr Mays, what else came out? Ps, ps, what Pro, oh, the Pro, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely in that time period.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you got that too, but alright, let's continue the show, mike, because while we, you know we're going Go ahead, mr Mason, go on, all right, so then, then obviously there's the VR, and that was your territory, because I didn't have one of those.
Speaker 1:Yeah, astro Bot was one of the biggest things I forgot, the one I liked the most, it was a gangster one Blood and Truth. I loved that. That was a good game. That was a good game. I didn't play that one, I played this. I thought it was a good game. We say it was not bad. No Man's Sky was also a VR game during that time period, but, mr Mason.
Speaker 2:I digress what's up.
Speaker 1:Go ahead. You want to continue? Okay, what's up? What's next After that?
Speaker 2:Oh, I'm so sorry, why, why?
Speaker 1:Nothing's going on. So the next they were saying in 2020,.
Speaker 2:We jumped into the PS5 and VR2, which you got. We both got PS5 and you got the VR 2, and then 25, the PS5. What were some of the hot things we saw? We saw Miles Morales to open up the gates.
Speaker 1:We saw Spider-Man 2 God of.
Speaker 2:War, god of War. Yup, what else did we see? Returnal Grand. Theft Auto 7 yup, we saw Resident Evil 8. Yes, astro Bot, astro Bot. Helldivers, grand Theft Auto 7 yup we saw Resident Evil 8.
Speaker 1:Yes, astro.
Speaker 2:Bot, astro Bot, helldivers 2, which is making a killing yup. Concord Mike's the only one that got the exclusive copy that was released yeah, exclusive, copy, exclusive, nothing, but also Mr Bayesian.
Speaker 1:a surprising success is a PS5 portal.
Speaker 2:PS5? Oh okay, I didn't know that.
Speaker 1:You didn't know that You're on the show with me. What the hell you didn't know that?
Speaker 2:Listen, man, I'm so focused on fighting my damn point. You know I'm going to push this cycle. It's throwing me off track. I told you. Forget about it. I'll get back to it, I promise you no you won't get back to it.
Speaker 1:because I won't get back to it, I don't know what the hell you're talking about. We're going to get back to it. We're not getting back to it. Ladies and gentlemen, we will.
Speaker 3:We will.
Speaker 1:But thank you for your two cents in. I don't even remember. It's ridiculous. Oh hey, I do. I'm glad you remember it. But, mr Mazin, let's go to Xbox. Mr Mazin, all right, let's go. I think we need to take credit for this Uh-oh. Xbox had a campaign. This is the Xbox. The campaign included images of your toaster of it being an Xbox. This being an Xbox, your cat is an Xbox. Mr Mazin, who started it all? When we were saying that?
Speaker 2:When we started talking about that. Who started that? We did talk about that.
Speaker 1:We started that we the ones Game of Traffics show. We're the ones who started saying that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we did say that. We said that actually.
Speaker 1:We said Xbox, though, folks, xbox wants to be everywhere, yeah it does it still.
Speaker 2:We said Xbox. Xbox wasn't going to be everywhere. Yeah, it does and it still does yeah everywhere, mr Amazing, that's what they.
Speaker 1:They took the campaign, they made a campaign of that, mr Amazing Damn.
Speaker 2:They're like they're trying to fake patent. Take that, Take that, take that. They're not patent.
Speaker 1:But we were saying sarcastically but Mr Amazing, mr Amazing, somebody thought the marketing would be a great idea. No, mr Amazing, it got hell of a backlash for that, of course because it ain't doing what it's supposed to be doing.
Speaker 2:It ain't gaming.
Speaker 1:But Mr Amazing, who didn't watch the Game Awards show. That's why we're not talking about it today. Next episode we'll talk about it, Hopefully in. But they had a commercial trying to clean it up, so they show the original thing where this is the Xbox. Then you see a part where you see items on the conveyor belt. I think they show a handheld Xbox Series X and S. Then they show a picnic basket and it says this is not an Xbox. Oh, they make fun of them.
Speaker 1:Yes so they're trying to clean it up. I think I was in the right damage control so I do damage control for Mr Amazing. This one's all about Xbox. It's too busy trying to be a service and also they're trying to be a business, trying to recoup their money from those big acquisitions they made, got it? So I mean Rightfully so, a lot of people who are big Xbox YouTubers, shut your mouth, xbox. Microsoft's always been a service, a service Base of company.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know what I'm saying so it's only a mobile hardware company. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. So it's only mobile hardware company. Yeah, let's keep it. Let's keep it 100. So I say this they went too far with that. That was a bad idea. Something I thought was humorous or thought it'd be really cool to do this. Not, you got big big internet, twitter, whatever you call it, x big flag for that Gotcha. So, mr Mace, what do you think? You saw it right.
Speaker 2:No, this is all new to me right now, oh.
Speaker 1:God, so I'm talking to myself, right now.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you're talking to me, the listeners. What the hell are you talking about Right now? I'm not a call, so I'm a listener right now. What the? Hell are you talking about? Hey, hey, hey, gary Javid, we keep it real. Oh my God. So, mike, you continue, because I didn't see this. Welcome to you, forrest Mason. Hey.
Speaker 1:Are you going to feed back Right now? I'm listening.
Speaker 2:I'll call him. Wait a minute. So hey, let's call it Simply Amazing, mike. I just want to say, with this being said, do you think the Xbox is down? Is it going down, mike? Shut the hell up. Shut the hell up. No, but real talk. I'm a listener right now. I honestly didn't see that Shut the hell up, but I do agree with you.
Speaker 2:I do see what you're saying. I mean, xbox is focused on the wrong things, but making games, and that's just why they are where they are right now, but Mr Maison, indiana Jones recently came out.
Speaker 2:that's good actually my guy was playing that game and I was watching her play for like the first 50-20 minutes. Yo, it's beautiful. The graphics on that is beautiful. They got young Harrison Ford looking like it's wow, it's good, it's good. I can't wait to play it. I know you just got yours in the hard disk today, so I know you're going to be enjoying that. I'm going to wait until it comes on the PlayStation, you know which I hate that they did that. They disclosed that too soon in my opinion. But whatever, because of you guys, I'm not going to get X-Lost because I'm going to wait. That's your fault, but I'll be playing it later on this year, early next year alright, mr Mason, let's go on.
Speaker 1:Let's go to a trailer of the week. A trailer of the week. It's in the game Mata NFL. Oh, okay, it's on Prime. It's actually out now. Next week we'll give our review in the next podcast.
Speaker 2:Okay, so me and you are going to sit down and watch it. It's like a film dozy. Huh, it's a mini film dozy. What the hell you talking about? You said the documentary, it's a documentary. Yeah, it's like a mini film.
Speaker 1:Alright. So, mr Mazin, 1, 2, 3, let's kick the trailer.
Speaker 2:Alright, let's give Mr Madden some love.
Speaker 1:It's in video game history. Welcome to John Madden Football. It's in the game. It's in the game. It's in the game and he's bigger Baby.
Speaker 2:It's in the game. This was a piece of culture.
Speaker 1:It wasn't just a video game. And you're bigger.
Speaker 2:That's not a Bill Feltown.
Speaker 3:Damn, who is that? Yeah, Clay, I've graced the cover of Madden, but viewers starting in complete chaos. We weren't seeing progress. Most of us at EA wondered if the game would ever get finished. We just didn't think it would amount to anything.
Speaker 2:Bam, we needed some firepower. It's my defense John Madden was dummy.
Speaker 3:Push. Madden was ready to completely change the game, but I remember John saying Don't do anything to screw up my name.
Speaker 2:John walked in looked at the demo and said what is that? We were very close to the deadline. Do we have what it takes to make a hit For John? It?
Speaker 1:had to be authentic. If I'm going to be part of it, it has to be pro, it has to be realistic. This changed all of gaming.
Speaker 3:There was competition coming from every angle. It's impossible to stay on top Man's in real trouble. We needed some gambles Offensive plays, defensive plays, everything authentic in the game. The clock is ticking and we didn't have an agreement with the NFL.
Speaker 1:That's why you came ahead Every year. It's the same thing.
Speaker 2:Well, he's just saying it all the time.
Speaker 1:Let's do it, I have the credibility to critique those and let them know why they are where they are Signing the contract being drafted. These are all big things, but another big thing is getting in the game. When I was a kid, everybody loved it.
Speaker 3:It didn't matter if you were a sports gamer or not. That's the goal.
Speaker 2:I Everybody loved it didn't matter if you were a sports gamer or not. That's the goal. I remember talking to the kids who were really into sports.
Speaker 3:We would connect on things that normally we wouldn't connect on.
Speaker 1:The joy and the fun of the first time you played Madden with your friend and being your friend. I was amazed at whipping his butt all the time Magic thing. Players look at Madden as a reflection of who they are. Ooh, I got a couple stuff I gotta say about this. Mr Madden's in the game baby, What'd you?
Speaker 2:think oh must see for me, because we love it, we play.
Speaker 1:Madden, it's a four-episode series.
Speaker 2:Oh, I'm actually gonna watch that. It's hands down, hands down. I'm gonna put the boys to the side, I'm gonna jump into that right now, so I will be watching that green light this trailer, mr Major. Red light it.
Speaker 1:I'm greening it, I'm going to green light it, we're going to give it because we're big Madden fans.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we're playing it right now. We got a tournament going on right now.
Speaker 1:Yeah so no. I saw, I think I saw our old Madden game for PS97. Oh wow, I'm going to buy it. It's $6. You check it out? So yo see, you Bust your butt in that one. You might get lucky.
Speaker 2:All right, I mean last time I checked, I'm ahead.
Speaker 1:You're not ahead.
Speaker 2:It's time, I think Time.
Speaker 1:Thank you very much, Mr Basin. Thank you, Mr Basin.
Speaker 2:Before we go to the next topic, I just want to give you a little Madden trivia. Go ahead, are you ready for our trivia?
Speaker 1:when it first released first Madden 95, nah 94, nah 1990, nah never what you talking about 88?
Speaker 2:June 1st of 88 was the first Madden release. Hmm, who was the first Madden cover boy? Madden nah can't be Madden man, why?
Speaker 1:would Madden put his face on the first Madden?
Speaker 2:I'm Madden yeah, but he like put his face on the cover page. It's a two part question. Who was the first maddened cover athlete and what?
Speaker 1:year, that'd be not the first cover athlete. So it's 88 then. No, they didn't start doing that until later. So who was the? Who was the first? Who was the cover of it the first?
Speaker 2:cover you're done guessing.
Speaker 1:No, I'm talking about who's on the cover of Madden. Just put Madden in front of it, don't forget.
Speaker 2:I'm not sure I have to look that one up. That I don't know, but it wasn't. I don't think it was Ashley, so they put Madden in it.
Speaker 1:It's probably like a pattern picture as the cover for that game Athlete Cover. Athlete I'm talking about. You say who's the first cover? It was.
Speaker 2:Madden. So cover athlete. To be exact, who's the first cover athlete and what year? You know where the player is. He's a very popular player. Joe Montana no, you would think him, but it wasn't him. It was much later. It's after Joe Montanacino's run All right.
Speaker 1:All right, is he a quarterback Running back?
Speaker 2:Dude, you already know there's like three positions to lead. That gets filled around Wide receiver, it's either running back quarterback or receiver Jerry Rice. No, Give you one more and that's it You're not giving me a hit.
Speaker 1:You're not giving me a hit. Is it a running back?
Speaker 2:it is a running back okay, you got one, one try one try, give you one more give you two tries, one try, go ahead. You give me a Jerry Rice pick. You give me another clue. I gave Go ahead.
Speaker 1:You gave me a Jerry Rice pick, give me another clue.
Speaker 2:I gave you a clue.
Speaker 1:AMC or NFC. That.
Speaker 2:I can give you. It was for the.
Speaker 1:AMC the bus.
Speaker 2:I'll give you one more. I'll give you the year. I'll give you the year. All right, I'll give you a year. You want to give me a year? That was supposed to be about 2001. I know it's that late. The first act we covered was 2001. I know I was like where, Damn Um George. He was a tight end running back. All right. So Michael didn't get it. It was Eddie George, I was going to say Eddie.
Speaker 2:George. I said Tiny running back. I said Tiny running back, I was ready to say it. I was ready to say it. I was ready to say it.
Speaker 1:I was ready to say it. I said Tiny, running back I got to freak out. He didn't know. I think he didn't know that lead. I, I remember that Get the eye off yo. So let me just read this real quick. Eddie George of the Tennessee Titans was the first player to appear on the cover of. Madden NFL. If you gave me. If you gave me one, I would have got the name out of my head. I could have said Titan, running back. I was trying to remember the name out of my head.
Speaker 2:Well, this is interesting though, because actually but this is too appropriate but G of Madden 99.
Speaker 1:That's confusing, that's confusing, you're confusing me.
Speaker 2:No, this is confusing to me because 2000 was the first one that was on the PS2. This is PlayStation 2, because we're talking about PlayStation and there was Eddie George and all they had three covers. It looks like yeah, because he did come off of Super Bowl year. But anyway though, man, and to go back to you, you were right about the thing. They were Maddens, Madden, Madden, Madden.
Speaker 3:Madden Madden.
Speaker 2:Madden. Madden To go back to yours. Thank you people, but athlete was Eddie George.
Speaker 1:I was about to say Eddie. I said Tyron running back. I was about why you say Eddie George. I was like excuse me, can you cover?
Speaker 2:me while I was a Tyron running back.
Speaker 1:Then you're like oh, eddie, can you cover me while Eddie George? You know I was coming, you know I was coming, you know what we got to look later on.
Speaker 2:I hope they're talking in the documentary about love Madden. We buy it every year. Well, you buy it, I start boxing 90-something.
Speaker 1:Play Mike's.
Speaker 2:So I've been playing Mike's by the early 2005, I would say. But yeah, like Mike said, madden signed that ridiculous contract which ended the lifespan of the 2K.
Speaker 1:And any other game system.
Speaker 2:It's recently when we had the what, the VR one. I think it was.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but that's a VR game. But let me tell you, you know how the NFL and the NBA, the college football game, how people celebrate that. Yeah, imagine if the contract with Madden ceased with the NFL People would go crazy. Imagine if the contract with Madden ceased with the NFL people, people go crazy but when does that end?
Speaker 2:did they renew it? I feel like they renewed it.
Speaker 1:I think they renewed it, unless it'll take years for somebody really to develop a game that's a product, because no one's working on a game, they're going to be behind they'll still be behind. They'll still have three or four years of just them to be behind. They'll still be behind.
Speaker 2:They'll still have three or four years of this dumb playing match, just working on developing the game, because remember the last 2K was what? 2k 6?.
Speaker 1:I got the old one. I got to play that with you.
Speaker 2:That's the two old ones we used to play like crazy.
Speaker 1:I used to get some good wins, though I ain't going to front.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but my thing is like if a new one, let's say 2K, revived their series, yeah, they'll be way behind because the mechanic didn't get the mechanic, they'll take on three to four years. Yeah, madden will still be dominant, because it's going to take some time.
Speaker 1:Some time. I mean they can bust out and come out, but it'll be probably three to four years. Unless they still got their team, that's still waiting to put people who might maybe pull off a good Madden game is the people at Sony San Diego Studios.
Speaker 2:Why do?
Speaker 1:you say that Because the baseball game is excellent there. Oh, okay, I can tell Okay, that's what you're saying, that's the only people I can see pulling off in a decent amount of time.
Speaker 2:Okay, but that's what's up. But you know, going back to documentary, it see for us, yeah, and then once we see we can elaborate a little bit more. And you know, rest in peace, mr Madden, that's true. Do you think Madden is the face of football and video games? Yes, do you think he should have been? Do you think it should have been called Madden, not the guy from the? What's his name? The Packers?
Speaker 1:No, why wasn't alive.
Speaker 2:No, I know, but might they be the legend that he was?
Speaker 1:he wasn't alive and he put why would it not happen to him? And he said, he put he put in it. Yeah, matt had his input.
Speaker 2:You're right, it makes sense but in today's generation. Who do you think the madder face would be like right now, like in the last 20 years? It's the opinion. It's the opinion, you're right. You're right.
Speaker 1:I think you can say Bill Belichick yeah, bill Belichick or Andy Reid. I think there's only two people, that's it you can say Mike Tomlin, nah, probably no, I'm just saying I think either Bill Belichick or Andy Reid.
Speaker 2:I think there's only two people that you, and maybe, for argument's sake, you could put Pete Carraby If you put Pete Carraby you got the time to sell him Exactly. So, it's either Timmy, Sonny, Andy Reid and Belichick.
Speaker 1:That's it All right, go on, mike. All right, mr Amazing, let's go on to our next topic. Our should we care? Topic is, mr Amazing, a new N64 is coming out next year, mr Amazing.
Speaker 2:That's what I was looking for this year, man, but it got delayed. It got delayed Come out next year.
Speaker 1:It is priced for $249. Pre-orders have went up already.
Speaker 3:Mr Amazing, is it still?
Speaker 2:accepting them.
Speaker 3:I don't know, I just sold out.
Speaker 1:It's probably still accepting it. So, Mr Mays, a new console could upgrade classic games to 4K.
Speaker 2:What I don't know is, if I have my current games, I can put them in there, right, my current games, oh good.
Speaker 1:Do you have any?
Speaker 2:current games. I don't think I have any more than Tennessee for you. Do you have any Tennessee free cards?
Speaker 1:I never had Tennessee free. I didn't like it.
Speaker 2:I had it. I don't know why I didn't buy games. To be honest with you, I have no idea what that was. I have no idea but that's.
Speaker 1:It's good. The analog also. The system supports 3D, support for Bluetooth and for original and ports for original controllers. Okay, but the system is not sold with the controllers.
Speaker 2:I know it makes no sense. It's $39.99 or something like that, $29.99. I don't remember the price.
Speaker 1:So it's amazing. Should we care a lot, a little or not at all?
Speaker 2:I care, I personally, because I had a 64, so I care because I can just imagine playing one of my favorite.
Speaker 1:I think people should care because bring it back. It's like a retro gaming and you can actually play this game yeah in its original console, which is 3D. And you play HD and you also can get the scan lines as well.
Speaker 2:Do you?
Speaker 3:think the price is fair.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, me too.
Speaker 1:I think it is. Price is fair. I think so too, I wish it came with a damn controller. Yeah, you too, I think it is. Price is fair. I think so too. I wish it came with a damn controller.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's the point. Yeah, you know what. The price would be fair if it came with a controller. That's what I should say. The price would be fair if it came with a controller because technically, just say the system is $270, $280, whatever. Because then $2. Why would you sell a controller? Make that make sense to me. Why would you sell a system without a controller? That makes no sense to me. It must be the money, baby. Is it because you could use your own controller on it? Is that what it is Right?
Speaker 1:Maybe you could use your own controller on it. Maybe that's what it is Okay.
Speaker 2:If that's the case, then okay, I get it.
Speaker 1:But who still? Has their own controller though, and there's a couple of retro stores I could go to. Yeah, pick one up, pick one up. There's some in Brooklyn, some in New York, some in Queens and some in Long Island.
Speaker 2:I go to one in Long Island, I know which one you're talking about, the one in Valley Street?
Speaker 1:the one in Valley Street nah that's not the retro store.
Speaker 2:Technically that's more like depends on how, but to get the, that's a fixed fix. There's a lot of old games there too, though.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but that's not, I don't know. I'll take you to the retro store.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:I'll take you to the entire one.
Speaker 2:Do you want to sign right sideway?
Speaker 1:No, there's one in Hicksville Mall.
Speaker 2:Hicksville.
Speaker 1:Mall which is dying. Hicksville Mall is dying, but that's here, not there. So it's amazing. I'm with you, we care, I care I do, care we care about it. It's a great way to play your old games.
Speaker 1:And a great way for Nintendo to get you warmed up for their new system and for us to get the kids, to get the younger kids to get nostalgia, Not nostalgia, but realize that games actually came on one cartridge and then they had to worry about online support and all that other good stuff. I agree, All right, Mr Amazing. All right, Mr Amazing. I shall be going to Tony Todd and his family. I'm 14, passed away. For who, Tony Todd? That's the guy from you know, Mr Amazing. He played Venom.
Speaker 1:Oh, yes, yes yes, final Destination, mr Amazing.
Speaker 3:Yes, yes, yes.
Speaker 1:I didn't know that we had the shows on because Mr Amazing and I were very busy. Unfortunately, people, we didn't get on our game because you know what If Game of Trials is not in the gaming system? You know what?
Speaker 2:You're still going to say yeah, huh, fucking. Always going to say I Go ahead.
Speaker 3:You interrupted me.
Speaker 1:Go ahead, Mike. I'm sorry Yo, the gaming space ain't the same All right, yo, like Madden, we're in the game.
Speaker 2:That's right, Unless you're not in the game, yo, yo.
Speaker 1:Why would I just make this video on DSS? Well, anyway, mr Mason, game of Thrones show, this is like the last game of the year.
Speaker 1:Like you know, get on it, people. We're the hottest thing going on across the East United States. We gotta build up US, us, us, usa. So you know, we accept myself and Ms May enjoy doing the podcast we like to do. You too, we need your support and you know, listen up. Like I said, we're different. You get no podcast like us, no format, nothing like this. We are different. We aim to entertain, educate and, you know, soothe your mind when you have those days like damn, you know what I'm saying. So, basically, even the sucky gamers. So we're not sucky gamers, mr Mason, not at all. Best thing we could have maddened him.
Speaker 2:You know, I'm maddened him for several years, that's the Not at all Best thing that could have mad him. You know I'm mad at Chan for several years.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that's the right thing. I was booing you all that time.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I know that's the right thing.
Speaker 1:That's the right thing, bro.
Speaker 2:I was booing you all that time.
Speaker 1:All the time, bro, how many years have I been champion?
Speaker 2:I'm the champion. That's all I got to say. Married with children our buddy always talking about his high school with the polka holes, whatever, when he's going at one touchdown that's what mine is talking about.
Speaker 3:What are you talking about?
Speaker 1:I've been a champion, repeat champion, for years.
Speaker 2:I've been there for years.
Speaker 1:The series is tight at 3-3 right now. Buddy yo, it's been years I've been with you for years, years, years, alright and nowhere yo the ship is here. The ship is here. But anyway, yo everybody, it's great talking to you guys. Appreciate you. Guys listen. We love you, keep it up. Game of Trapper Show. We try to do our best to bring the best gaming news. We're ending, what do?
Speaker 2:you mean, how are we ending? We need to give our best to bring the best gaming news.
Speaker 1:We're ending. What do you?
Speaker 2:mean, how are we ending? We need to give our shout out. Can I give a shout out, if you?
Speaker 1:don't have it. What's your shout out? What's your shout out, mr Daisy?
Speaker 2:have a sleep no man, a shout out. We're not going to talk about the Xbox One, we're talking about Tony.
Speaker 1:Stark we could talk about him. Yeah, we'll talk about the guy. Xbox saved his life somehow. But, we'll talk about the next episode and hopefully the next episode of Mr Amazing was a recap of the real gay world. He's talking about me when he saw like three things and he fell asleep. Oh yeah, that was a punchline in the damn episode I watched most of the show.
Speaker 2:Three times he fell asleep y'all.
Speaker 1:No, no, Mr Amazing, I was there too. I watched most of the show, Mr Amazing. Anyway, that was my freaking punchline.
Speaker 2:You messed that punchline up for the next show.
Speaker 1:Hey, come on let's see the hell. You took Mr Punchline off the show. People ask what do you think of the show? I the hell. You took Mr Ponce Liza to the show. People ask what do you think of the show? I could have told them, man, you messed up with Ponce Liza.
Speaker 2:Mr Mays, the show went on too long, but we out people Later.
Speaker 1:Happy birthday my son y'all Later. Yeah, happy birthday Tyler. There you go. We're going to take him to the club Later. Outro Music.
