Let's do this. Welcome everybody to another episode of the Game Traffic Show. I'm your host, mike Sampson. Tune in to my co-host. Simply Amazing. How am I doing today? Hey everybody, good for Mr Amazing On today's Game Traffic Show. Yo, yo, we're going to talk about Xbox today. We're also going to talk about Mr Amazing. Guess what? One developer's asking developers to do shorter games, mr Amazing.
Speaker 1:Ah yes, also a movie not supposed to say franchise, but a sequel is coming to a movie that people enjoy. Mr Amazing begin today's show talking about Microsoft. Yo, is Steam Deck coming to? But Mr Amazing, beginning today's show talking about Microsoft, yo, is Steam Deck coming to Microsoft. Mr Amazing, can you go into it?
Speaker 2:So yeah, I mean, it's interesting actually. So what it is is that the Steam Deck it's.
Speaker 1:It's like a photo that says 1 billion, whatever, something like that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's hard to explain. I think it's more like the Xbox on the UI, are going to have a Steam Deck option. Yeah, so that's what it is. So it's pretty much a Microsoft continuation of I Want to Rule the World, where I'm going to be on everything on your toaster, your PS, your laptop, your iPads, wherever I can get it. I'm going to be on it, and it looks like they got Steam Deck to join along, and that's what it's all about at this point.
Speaker 1:So that said oh bro, did Tom Warner broke the? I think Tom Warner broke the story.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, from my understanding, From Verge, from Verge.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he broke the story. Talking about, let's see the Xbox briefly revealed a new Xbox UI that looks a lot more like a console, like cross multi-platform device, which includes a list of Steam games.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so apparently Xbox is going to let fans access Steam games from the Xbox app down the road. That's what it looks like, and Microsoft already told you we're not afraid to join the competitors. We don't care about that. We just want to be on your platform. They don't care about joining the competitors. They've been said that and that's what they're focusing on, they're trying to make money.
Speaker 1:Come on, let's keep it 100. You bought Activision, blizzard, all these other studios, yeah. And you trying to make money at Money Bank? Yeah, exactly. And you just can't do it on one platform and expect to make money.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and Microsoft did say they wanted to combine Xbox and Windows. And Windows yeah they been said that, so this is their chance of doing that.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I mean I don't know. How do you?
Speaker 1:feel about it. I mean, according to the Oracle, Microsoft has been working on making an Xbox app for the home. Pc gaming and listing Steam games in this app will be a certain help for Microsoft.
Speaker 2:Of course, but look at this. This is the part I read the other day. Ps5 gamers for December 2024 accounted for 64% of Microsoft game sales. That goes to show you.
Speaker 1:That's horrible. That goes to show you, though the problem is that you really can't tell the details, because Microsoft has Game Pass.
Speaker 2:How many?
Speaker 1:sales were on Xbox.
Speaker 2:I know.
Speaker 1:Oh, let me tell you a story. I went to Target. Yeah, son, son, son son and Green Acres. If anybody know Green Acres, long Island there was no, there was barely any Xbox section, physical.
Speaker 1:yeah, of course they didn't only like the new releases. I saw I got I got a gift card for Target. I bought WE. Okay it. I got a gift card for Target, I bought WE. It was sold out on PlayStation, couldn't find one, couldn't get one. So I bought the WE for the Xbox. It's like Microsoft oof, they're digital. They're digital and plus a lot of the suits. But what I also want to point out is the PlayStation one was sold out but the Xbox still have games. They still have games.
Speaker 1:So people like when people say that Xbox is training their consumers to be getting the game for free. It's not a game pass. Why am I wasting my time and money?
Speaker 2:Yeah, you're right, because even that game that's supposed to be coming out very soon Midnight what's it called Midnight?
Speaker 1:I forgot the name.
Speaker 2:The game looks good. Well, we spoke about it on the show. We spoke several times Midnight Something. That game is going to be straight out on the Game Pass that game.
Speaker 1:That game, I think it's going to be on all platforms. It should be. I don't think it's going to be on all platforms eventually. I think they put the whole game on the whole platform.
Speaker 2:I mean it is. I mean, look at Indiana Jones. Indiana Jones is coming in a couple of weeks.
Speaker 1:Or that game make money. I think it's going to be on all platforms. I agree, I'll put that on Nintendo Switch. I'll put that. It might, it might, it might eventually. And I think how you can have our first party games like Nintendo and the Godfather gaming and the King of Gaming is not doing that right now they're playing.
Speaker 1:Sony Playstation they're not doing that because even one of my main concerns that has arised by many people on the Xbox side that Sony will block any of their exclusives going on, that of course they're not going to let God of War go on there, or Last of Us, that's true too, or any of the new Naughty Dog games there was Uncharted. No, that's not happening.
Speaker 2:So do you think Microsoft should just take the Sega out then?
Speaker 1:I've been said that I think we both said that. But according to rumors and reports, they're saying they'll come out with a new system, more powerful and, most likely, probably. I think the new system probably costs like $700. I don't know, Probably. Of course, there's sources on YouTube, people on YouTube and talking heads. It'd be like a PC type, a hybrid console.
Speaker 2:I mean, you know what. Do you mind if I do the switch over right now? Since we are on systems, do you want to jump into one of the topics that you have for the show, which is the Xbox handhelds? Yes, so let's transition to that. So let's go transition to the Xbox handhelds, Because you said new system, I figured this is a perfect time to bring it up. But that handheld go is Right.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I know, I have a friend named Kenya.
Speaker 2:So there was an image the other day out, but it was a total tease because that image, I think, was of the Oasis Road Alley and it had been a whole big spectacular about it and apparently this handheld is going to come out this year from over here.
Speaker 1:Yes, I heard this fall, so this is what we know Allegedly, allegedly.
Speaker 2:This is what we know so far, and my take to you is the handheld market right now is probably at the best it's ever been since when the Taylor Gamer was running the show. And then they had the Sega. What is it called? Oh my God, the Game Gear.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they had those two running, but also a side of the time is that the PlayStation Portal is still one of the top selling devices. Give it a game Vices Still now.
Speaker 2:Still now and shout out because they didn't think it was going to be that big and it's getting updates.
Speaker 1:Yeah, because, like I said before I told you, and so it does come in handy, it's going to call Portal 2.
Speaker 2:Yeah, no, you're right. This is what I wanted to say too, it's going to call Portal 2.
Speaker 2:Because the handheld market is very strong right now, and it's so strong that Microsoft, I feel, is such a they failed. I'm sorry, but they failed you. You failed your hardware, you failed the Xbox X and S. You guys failed it. I'm sorry, I don't care how strong it is, you failed it. So my thing is this You're going to enter a market that you're brand new to and you're going to compete with the godfather. Right now, they're coming out with their system. Any day now. We don't know Any between now and November November they're going to have a system out.
Speaker 1:We can bank on that. The hybrid system, yes.
Speaker 2:What is your price point going to be? What game are you going to have to go with it? You?
Speaker 1:know what I'm saying? You can't get other systems.
Speaker 2:Yeah, exactly what are you going to be pitching south? So what I think you should do is do what Sony did Do a portal. You know you don't think that'll work for them.
Speaker 1:I'm cringing right now. You can see me. No, you don't think it'll work.
Speaker 2:I think that would be the better idea for them, because you could do your game.
Speaker 1:It'll be a portal where you could put Game Pass games, but I mean they're into the cloud service, so it'd probably be a good idea for them.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:So that's why they want to advance for cloud servers, mostly digital for most of the games. So yeah, and then what's the? It's not going to save Xbox, but go right ahead.
Speaker 2:No it's not. I mean, I think that would be the better route for them. They're trying to come up with a brand new handheld. I think that's the better route.
Speaker 1:But the thing is, let's keep it 100.
Speaker 2:Okay, the Steam Deck, quentin numbers sold 2 million and change, don't look crazy, not crazy, but it's still successful though. And it's successful because a lot of other hands that came out.
Speaker 1:The numbers are not as close, but the big difference is that if Xbox comes out with a handle, it's not going to be only at the Xbox store. Well, that's what's going to help.
Speaker 2:You can probably get that at your local store, your local Best Buy, whatever you get, so Valve, whatever, you give whatever's going on. So VAL, it's stressing for VAL because all the money is going towards them yeah nobody's getting a cut of it yeah, which I don't understand why they didn't just put it in stores. I thought it was one of their biggest downfalls. To be honest with you.
Speaker 1:I mean they put the older models in the stores. Yeah, these are the older models.
Speaker 2:But I guess they don't make the older models. We started fighting them in GameStops.
Speaker 1:Yeah, there's you stuff. Yeah Well, yeah, there's you, you're not going to get it. Yeah, I trust GameStop. You know GameStop's 50-50. I didn't tell you I got. What do you call it? I got a used U game, wii game. Yeah, chronicles of Resident Evil, oh, okay, okay, okay, the little shooter game. That thing was not even clean. Oh, what I had to clean it. I was like yuck, it worked. Yeah, okay, okay, okay, ridiculous.
Speaker 2:So still, let's talk real quick again. I want to get your take on the pricing, because this is what I'm before I ask you to take. I think it can't be more than the Switch. It it has to be, I think, lower than the Switch. To be honest with you, even if it's going to be a stronger system than the Switch I don't know if you see what I'm trying to say it's going to be a stronger system than the Switch, but it can't be more than the Switch, no less than $500. You think it's going to be a little less than $500?.
Speaker 1:No less than $500.
Speaker 2:I think the Switch.
Speaker 1:The Switch is probably $4,000.
Speaker 2:I think the Switch is going to be $4,000, $4,500.
Speaker 1:But we agreed on that.
Speaker 2:So you're telling me the Xbox is going to be more than the Switch 2? $500. Then this is already set for failure.
Speaker 1:It's already set for failure.
Speaker 2:The price is right it's $500, bro, it's set for failure, and I agree with you. Based on the other handheld marks, that's what it should be going for, but your brand-new market, that's already $300,. Mr Amazing, honestly, it got me the same price as the Switch $4,450 for Ali, to be honest with you, to get it moving. But you're probably right, though I don't disagree with you.
Speaker 1:You're probably right. Can I take?
Speaker 2:off 600?
Speaker 1:Forget about it Dead on arrival, son, but that's why I think you should do a portal.
Speaker 2:What is the portal? 200? So 50, 200? You set it as a portal and then you put the game pass on there, meaning you could do more. I think that would be ideal, but we'll see. We'll see. Man, this type of got me a little.
Speaker 1:When I was looking into this. You're hyped up.
Speaker 2:I feel like you're dropping your handhelds when you couldn't even focus on your hardware on the Xbox S. I don't know, I was a little bit annoyed by that, but we'll see Great tables when you going. Because Xbox is I like Xbox. I want to see them do good.
Speaker 1:I think, like I said, I'm a fan of Xbox, but yeah, I like a lot of the games. I love Gears of War, my favorite franchise.
Speaker 2:Yeah, me too, me too. You know what.
Speaker 1:I'm saying and it's good to have a video game competition, yeah.
Speaker 2:I would have said Forza on other systems too. I mean damn, what do you guys have? Yeah, all right, mike man, I digress, man, go ahead. I'll let you continue the show now, all right.
Speaker 1:Mr Mazin, astro Bot Game Director, is giving advice to other game developers regarding games.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'll put it in a couple words.
Speaker 1:Make your games shorter.
Speaker 2:Yeah, shout out to Nicholas Doucette, man man, he's the Astro Bot director and he made a very a comment that I agree with and I think it's one of the best comments made by anyone. He said because, well, before we get to that, why did he say that? Because Astro Bot is a short game that won a game of the year and had a ton of success. So he said what's the key? Make your games shorter. Why? Because fans all have a backlog and we're talking to the number one person right now Mike, mike, you can attest to this, and fans have jobs and gamers have jobs and families.
Speaker 2:He says nothing wrong with making a short game now.
Speaker 1:No, I don't think it's the wrong way, I agree with you 100%.
Speaker 2:And, mike, I want you to talk about it because you got tons of games. You got games for years.
Speaker 1:I agree with it. I don't think we need every game to be Elder Scrolls or 40, 70 hours. You know what I'm saying. I did too many games of Trump's open world, and the reason is they're trying to make you hang on to the game, try to get extra money off you. Basically, they're trying to make you not resell the game right away. Yeah, live action purchases as well.
Speaker 1:So that's how they do it. That's one of the main reasons they try to make the game longer. When you do the same mission repeatedly, do extra missions. Yeah, I've seen that in Rise and Roll. Everybody's seen this game. You're saving the door. You're doing the same old thing.
Speaker 2:You're saving the cat in the tree again it's the same same type of mission so do you think with the success of Astro Bot people might go that route? Because you know everything in life, from sports to reality. It's a copycat world.
Speaker 1:Well, Sony did that with Miles Morales.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, miles Morales that was a hit. That was a hit. And Astro Bot, that was a hit, and another Sony game and even Spider-Man 2. That's not a long game, from what you tell me.
Speaker 1:It's 22 to 30 hours, so you know.
Speaker 2:I think 30 is not I 30 short what do you consider short 15 me too.
Speaker 1:That's my benchmark 15, 8 to 15 yeah my benchmark is 15 hours. I think after 20 you're hitting mid range now I think 15 and under is considered short what do you think is a good game to beat on the weekend?
Speaker 2:a good game to beat on the weekend for your experience for games you played well, the easiest ones are always fighting games then after that maybe like a shooter, like a Call of Duty the story mode because I said Call of Duty, that's the only one game to play.
Speaker 1:I remember the 50 cent blood and sand. I beat that on the weekend. I beat Code Veronica in a day you were much younger then yeah, I was much younger oh yeah, I can't do that now.
Speaker 2:My nephew the other day told me he beat Spider-Man 2 the other day I was like what the hell did you?
Speaker 1:do, he's 16. He has the budget.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he got nothing better to do. That is true, you know what.
Speaker 1:I'm saying but I read an article on CNET talking about short games some of the best short games you can play and it included Out of Wows.
Speaker 2:A Short Hike Journey, which is a PlayStation that won several awards.
Speaker 1:I can never get into it.
Speaker 2:That's that cartoon, looking with the guys with the hoodies.
Speaker 1:Yeah, okay, hotline Miami, I had part one and two. I still didn't finish playing those games. Uh, braid, I heard that game got good. Portos I was never into, I never was bored. I think I bought Porto to me so I played it a couple times. It wasn't for me, it got traded. Oxi Free, which I still have. The digital Firewatch was an interesting game Inside. What else Firewatch was an interesting game Inside. What else? The Remains of Ethan French Limbo?
Speaker 2:I like Limbo, that was fun.
Speaker 1:A couple other games too Paper, Please Gone Home. I didn't know Actually. Metal Gear Solid.
Speaker 2:Round Zero, that was cool, you played it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I actually played that one. You beat it. No, I played that, though. I actually think even Middle Gear when it came out on Nintendo, was it Q Twin Snake or whatever. That was kind of short to me. I think that was pretty quick, actually. Alright, it's funny because, if you think about it, our generation is kind of like the birth of the video game. So we're getting older too, yeah, and obviously a lot of us have works. Some of us now, you know, if you're playing games and you're in your 60s now, you're probably Some of you guys are grandfathers now.
Speaker 1:I met this guy at GameStop in the 60s. Yeah, but he liked shooter games.
Speaker 2:I was like yo he be getting his butt whooped.
Speaker 1:I was like you got to like shoot, I gave up on shooter games man, I was like it's better if you're playing a team squad. Maybe if you have nephews or close friends who have, you know, sons you can play with. Like you know what I'm saying, when you're playing by yourself, you're going to get slaughtered, so I mean we get it, I mean, I'm all for it.
Speaker 2:I prefer, I like short games, I lean towards them more.
Speaker 1:Those are flower games. I was interested in which one Flower? Oh, then I wasn't into that game. I was like oh, nice.
Speaker 2:Well, you know, in contrast to what we're talking about, what's the longest game you ever played, or the game that took your long time because you wanted to?
Speaker 1:get a perfect achievement. I can't remember. Honestly, I can't remember.
Speaker 2:Okay, I think one of the longest games I played was probably Red Dead. It's up there and maybe Rise and Roll it right now. Rise and Roll it is what he's doing because this guy just took the same for like three months. Yo, the same boss fight for like the last three months.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but that's for you.
Speaker 2:I think one of the Red Dead and maybe God of War that took me a while to beat as well. So I can see that, not that bad.
Speaker 1:Yeah, mom got gigged. Tell us how sassy Creed is Ten? She give you a ten.
Speaker 2:She give you a ten. You know, would you like to make 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10 10, 10, 10, 10, 10 to ask I want a question about Assassin's Creed real quick.
Speaker 2:I want to ask a question about Assassin's Creed when she comes in, but we'll continue. And so what about you? Did you say the longest you ever played? It's Rise and Roll right now. No Rise and Roll is only long because you're stuck and Zelda, zelda for me, actually Zelda's number one for me. She just left. She just left our studio. We'll get her next time for Assassin's Creed. Alright, we'll get her next time, you know the new one. Alright, she's an.
Speaker 1:Assassin's Creed expert. So keep going, cause I never really keep. I never really keep the number of hours, I never even look at it, I mean, so I really can't tell off the top of my head.
Speaker 2:Yeah cause I got a lot of.
Speaker 1:PS3 games, stuff like that, but a short game. I never thought was really that short until I bought it for NES. Which one Kung Fu?
Speaker 2:I beat that game in 20 minutes. Yeah, come on, you're short. I was like what?
Speaker 1:the hell, I beat that game in 20 minutes.
Speaker 2:That game was short actually.
Speaker 1:I was like that game was 20 minutes.
Speaker 2:Listen, I got that game what's it called? Again, cannoli, something, something. I'm playing that right now too, along with Spider-Man 2. Those are the two games I'm playing at the moment, so let's see if I can beat that game. It'll look that long to me.
Speaker 1:That was funny as hell.
Speaker 2:What are we talking about next? Okay, since we're talking about Nicholas, the set do you want to talk about? The Astro Bot gets a PS5 bundle. It all relates.
Speaker 1:Yeah, astro Bot's finally getting a PS5 bundle, but you know what date it comes out? I don't think it's set.
Speaker 2:Did it say Not yet oh, I was about to say yeah, I just know that they got the disc model for $450.
Speaker 1:Pretty much, yes, and actually it's cheaper than the original price.
Speaker 2:That's what I was going to ask, like why is it cheaper, especially for yeah, for the original one? Yeah, I was wondering that too, and obviously you get the game as well too.
Speaker 1:It does the only thing that sucks, suck. It don't come with an aspirator controller. Oh it doesn't. Nah, I'll be high that would've been nice.
Speaker 2:That would've been high. That would've been nice, man, I love that you don't have that much on the game. Man, I wanna go back. I did most of the DLCs except one of them. I gotta continue that. I wish you played it, cause you really haven't played it.
Speaker 1:I haven't get a. It's easy, you can jump in and out, I'll get more into the other games.
Speaker 2:Just give him Rise and Roll, just go watch the trailer and see how the game ends. No, no, I'm going to beat Rise and Roll All right man, you don't know what the story is about anymore at this point.
Speaker 1:No one knows what the story is about. When you play Rise and Roll, you don't know what side you're on. Get the hell, oh boy. All right, mr Amazing, we have another question. Yes, sir Well no, our next topic is what's your favorite special edition you ever bought for a game?
Speaker 2:Oh, mine is easy, actually. Okay, mine was Street Fighter 4. How did you not say that, yeah, because I waited in line for that baby yo, I reserved it and I got the collector of posters. And to this dead guy every time everybody sees that statue, it's a big statue. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1:Everybody sees it. They go. This looks hot.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, so that's probably my best one. I know you got a couple of them.
Speaker 1:So what are you going with? Well, I have two. I have, I believe there's two main characters and also I got titan two. Yeah, titan, that's what I have. That one too. Yeah, I was gonna get phoenix of gears of war oh, that'd be cool.
Speaker 2:I remember that came out. Yeah, I was gonna get that one.
Speaker 1:I was like I never got that one. You know I'm saying but especially, this is now a garbage. Now, yeah, they're not the same, I'll give you a little pin. Yeah, I know it got so bad. I thought what? The boxing game we bought Undisputed, undisputed. I thought that keychain was cool. That's so bad. The keychain for the boxing keychain was cool. I go, oh, this is cool, I have it now.
Speaker 2:I think it's cool what did Madden give you for the 25, 25, 25, 20? They gave you nothing they gave you nothing for that one. What the hell they gonna give you? Cause I remember the NBA 2K one game. It was like a locker, the Kobe thing. I remember. No, no, I mean we didn't get it, but I know it was something decent though any else.
Speaker 1:I thought about Assassin's Creed Shadows, but I'm not paying $229. Damn, I'm not that big of a. That's how much they cost now, yeah.
Speaker 2:Wow, what game would you get you're willing to spend money for, for a special edition?
Speaker 1:Nothing right now. Nothing right now. Maybe a God of War, me too, definitely a God of War. A God of War for me probably.
Speaker 2:Street Fighter again I would, depending on what character it is. I did get the infamous character.
Speaker 1:Oh, that was a good. I wish I played that game. That's one of the games I wish I played. Cool, I bought that, I got that, okay, but right now special editions suck. They're building any of the DLCs. Remember you get a nice little DLC character. Now they yeah, shoot. You can change the color of your gun. Oh wow, whoopie, do I know? That's how they get you. Yeah, like get out of here, I know cause.
Speaker 2:Back then you got a shirt, you got a statue, you got your thing, you get a small little.
Speaker 1:I said a small little poster. That's what I got for Dragon Ball Sparky a small little poster yeah, that's not worth it.
Speaker 2:It ain't even that long. Even with the the Tekken, another Tekken, mortal Kombat 1. I think it had a nice little case that came with it too. At least that was something reasonable, decent yeah, even Fallout.
Speaker 1:They gave you the little device in your hand. That was cool.
Speaker 2:I'm not a big Fallout fan, so I was never gonna get that that was cool.
Speaker 1:You know what I'm saying. Alright, mr Mason, let's go to our trail of the week. Alright, we got going on this one. The trail of the week is Happy Gilmore oh, happy Gilmore, oh wow okay alright, let's check it out.
Speaker 2:Spongebob. What is that? What's with the beaver teeth?
Speaker 1:I haven't swung a club in years. I'm a little intimidated All these guys hit it big enough.
Speaker 2:I don't know where to start.
Speaker 1:Come on, brother, rip it and rip it.
Speaker 2:I guess I need to update my happy place to something a little more age-appropriate.
Speaker 1:Age appropriate, mr Gilmore. Holy shit, we're not done with golf. Let them see the happy I fell in love with. Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 2:We'll put a little extra into this one. We'll put a little extra into this one.
Speaker 1:I am so sorry, mr.
Speaker 2:Mason.
Speaker 1:Happy Gilmore. Trailer For part two, mr Mason coming out. This trailer for part two, mr Amazing, coming out this summer, 725. Yeah, mr Amazing, do you green light this trailer, yellow light it or red light it?
Speaker 2:I like Adam Sandler. I really like Adam Sandler. I don't know him as a person, but he seems like a great guy His movies usually. You know he's a funny man, pretty good Dr Earth.
