Gaming's Godfather has returned with the Switch 2: First Impressions, Nintendo's Zelda movie delay and much more.
The Nintendo Switch 2 has finally arrived after an eight-year wait, and we're breaking down everything about Nintendo's newest console. Mike managed to secure a pre-order at a GameStop location that wasn't on most people's radar, giving us the chance to experience this highly anticipated system first-hand.
• First impressions reveal a noticeably larger screen compared to the original Switch, with the same slim profile
• The magnetic Joy-Con controllers slide on smoothly and feel sturdier than the original controllers
• Screen resolution is 1080p in handheld mode with 4K support when docked
• UI feels smoother and faster than the original Switch with improved accessibility options
• The Pro Controller has a comfortable feel similar to an Xbox controller but lighter
• Initial game experience with Mario Kart shows impressive track sizes with multiple pathways
• System has sold 3.5 million units in its first four days, exceeding PlayStation 5's launch numbers
• Upcoming games include Donkey Kong Bonanza, Metroid Prime 4, and third-party titles
• Some GameStop locations had issues with employees accidentally damaging consoles by stapling receipts to boxes
• Battery life held up well during testing with no overheating issues after several hours of play
We'll continue testing the Switch 2 and give more detailed impressions in our future podcasts as we try out more games and features.
Let's do this. Welcome everybody to another episode of the Game of Traffic Show. I'm your host, mike Sampson, children of my co-hosts Simply amazing what I'm doing today. Everybody get up for Mr Amazing. On today's Game of Traffic Show. We're going to tell you all finally, the switch has landed and, mr Amazing, we're one of the very few people who actually got a hold of the Nintendo Switch 2,. Mr Amazing, this is the main topic of the show. This is all the topics of the show with Nintendo today. Mr Amazing, let's do this. Let's begin the show. What do you think of the Nintendo Switch? You had it in your hands. You played some of it. Well, not some of it, but you played we played it, we touched on it.
Speaker 2:I mean the eight-year wait is over. Finally, the successor to the Switch is here, and no more speculations. We officially are in business man. So before we get to that game, Michael, you're the one that was able to get one. Oh, I went to go see. I drove by the store because I didn't have no reserves, so I was like I just wanted to know how the lines were and it was ridiculous. But Mike was actually able to go in the store and actually pick one up. So let's start with that before we get into the games.
Speaker 1:I actually went in the store to go pick one up. This is how I went about it. The day the Nintendo Switch pre-orders happened, I went to GameStop not too far from my house. I asked him I was jokingly asking, I came to pick up Final Fury. Um. So I was like yo, yo, what's up? Can I get a Taylor Swift? You got more pre-orders. He said nah, man, we sold out a long time ago, so he's like nah. But my co-worker for another GameStop said she had a whole bunch of them. I was like nah, that ain't true man. Nah, believe me, bro, believe me. So he called her up. He had her on speaker. She was like yo, we got over 100. That's good. Yeah, over 100. Mario bundle switches that's a good.
Speaker 1:And she had 150 regular.
Speaker 2:Switch 2s, just the console itself, just the console by itself.
Speaker 1:So it was like, oh snap, regular Switch 2s, just the console itself, just the console by itself. So it was like, oh snap. She was like. So I asked her how come nobody's getting them? She said nobody want to come out on the hood.
Speaker 2:We know the secrets. Now Go to the neighborhood least attractive. And plus that area has no parking. Oh yeah, that would do you too.
Speaker 1:There's no parking. Anybody try to walk their new system in the streets. You're going to get in and run to the car. Yeah, I mean basically because you know you don't want to try to get a pre-order and you get a parking ticket, you got to hop in a New York City train at midnight.
Speaker 2:Remember y'all, it's a midnight release.
Speaker 1:I don't know what the hell this Macy's talking about because it's the neighborhood we're talking about.
Speaker 2:I know we're not going to put the name out there, but we know it is.
Speaker 1:We know it's not that bad of an area, but one of the main things is there's no parking lot. A lot of game stops are in malls or strip mall area. Where there is a parking lot, there is a place you, you know, set up shop and wait In this area. You really can't do that, so yeah, so I went there. So I went, there's nobody really there, got, yeah, so you just pick it up. So let's just say that I gave him my $55. I put that money for $55 down, right yeah $55.
Speaker 1:$5 for a pole controller put down and I put $50 down and the Taylor Swift 2.
Speaker 2:So it's safe to say, if you decide to go online at 10 o'clock or 9 o'clock, you wasn't getting one.
Speaker 1:What 10 o'clock when?
Speaker 2:For the midnight release. You weren't going to get one. It's safe to say that.
Speaker 1:You had to be there early.
Speaker 2:You had to be there very early.
Speaker 1:I think you had to at least the first 100 people.
Speaker 2:I went by my local Best Buy and there was about 150 people online and that was like around 11, 45 that Wednesday going into Thursday. Right, that came out Thursday, yeah. So I was like, ooh, this is going to be crazy, so I can just imagine how it is around.
Speaker 1:I dig it.
Speaker 2:You have to be at least the first 200 people, I agree with that and depending on what store you was at, maybe biggest franchise. In the area yeahises had more copies. But consoles we're lucky to have one, but go ahead, mike man, let me continue. We have to give people a little vision of how you went through to get that.
Speaker 1:No, mr Mays, I just skibassed way. I got it. You got to do what you got to do, man, we got it. But Mr Mays thought he know I got the pre-order. Yeah, he lied. So I was like yo, I'm going to pick up the pre-order tonight. You know I'm going to pick up tonight, on the day of the release, and he was like yo, yo, you are.
Speaker 2:So that's why he went by driving to Best Buy to see if he was out there, just to see what this idiot was going to do. I was like this guy's going to come. He's at the house at 11 o'clock. I'm like you still not good. I was like you're going to drive best man, I'll give you a heads up, but he had me fooled.
Speaker 1:He said that, yes, I did have you fooled, but no big deal, mr Maisy, we got it, so it's all good. Yes, ms Smith, it is all good In the hood as the lady was saying In to get these Nintendo Switches pre-orders.
Speaker 2:We all know the secret now. Now we're going to see more people out there doing the same thing we did.
Speaker 1:So all right, Mr Mason, what's your first impression so far of the Nintendo Switch?
Speaker 2:Oh, the first thing I remember you did the unboxing and the first thing I noticed, the very first thing I noticed, was the size.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it was a bigger screen, definitely a bigger screen, definitely a bigger screen than the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch OG I bought. I brought upstairs the Nintendo OG and the Nintendo Switch 2.
Speaker 2:We both compared it yeah, and it was noticeably much larger. The width was. You know, it's the width to me that the width was larger, but it still kept the same slim size though, which I love about that, that they did do that, that they did do that, and then, outside of that, the next thing I was amazed by was the magnetic Joy-Con controllers yeah, the Joy-Con controllers is how it was, like seamlessly, it hooked on yeah cause I had.
Speaker 2:I was skeptical, but I was like these things are probably gonna break fast. They're probably going to be flimsy, no, no. It surprised me how sturdy they were, how easily they slide right on, and then the buttons to release it. It's perfect. It's not so small as the prior Switch, as the regular Switch, but this was a little smooth. I like the way it felt.
Speaker 1:Personally, I did try to disconnect it, while the Switch I mean sorry, the Joy-Cons while in dock it's kind of hard to try and pull it off You're talking about while it's stationed in the dock.
Speaker 2:Yeah, stationed in the dock.
Speaker 1:I find it difficult to pull it off if you just try to take out the Joy-Cons while the PlayStation I mean sorry on the Nintendo Switch 2 is docked. That's why I find it kind of difficult to take it out.
Speaker 2:Okay, okay, Okay. So I mean, the next thing I would say is how big. I feel like the buttons are bigger than Joy-Cons too. That's also something that was notable. They're not extremely large, but they're a little bit larger than the prior Switch. So that was something noticeable, and the reason I noticed that, to be honest with you, is because when we first got the Switch, we played Mario Kart on that as well, and we all struggled to play it on that on the original Switch. So that's why I don't know so much how big, how larger it was.
Speaker 1:I mean to be honest, I just think it's a little bigger. I think people with adult hands are still going to have problems playing games for a long time If you're just playing with that small little Joy-Con. I think after a while your hands will cramp up. Yeah, I know, I do.
Speaker 2:I don't think you're playing Call of Duty for a couple hours with those Joy-Cons. Yeah, I would recommend that, be honest with you. But I mean you know that's. You know the nicks and nacks about it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, because I mean, let's go back to the screen. Yeah, the screen is what Mr 1080 screen. I know you're disappointed. It wasn't 4K, 4k OLED you know that's gonna happen.
Speaker 2:I thought it should. It's 4K when it's docketed. I thought they could at least did 4K even if it's not docketed. To be honest with you, they could do that in there yeah, but you want an OLED screen too yeah, of course.
Speaker 2:I mean I think you could do the OLED version and the regular, a regular 4K version or 1080 whatever, and have two price points, like most systems do now. Anyway, I thought that would have been a good way to start off, but they didn't. I guess that's why they kept the price low. Nintendo tried to appease their mass and keep the price low as much as they can, because they did start off with a higher price point compared to their Prime systems.
Speaker 1:But it does support 120 FPS, supports HDR10, and it gives them more details smoother. 120 FPS supports HDR10, and it gives you more details, smoother gameplay and the images brighter brights, darker blacks. So I did see that in why I played in Handel for a while today. I did notice that in the Mario Kart Mario World sorry, mario World's game.
Speaker 2:No, that's good though I mean when we well let's good though I mean when we Well, let's get into a little bit of the technologies of it. So one thing I did notice is that it was smooth for you to transfer your Switch 1 content to the Switch 2 content. It was just literally just pretty much a plug-in and let's just transfer. It took up for a few minutes.
Speaker 1:I would say no it did take a few minutes Remember.
Speaker 2:That was because of your connection. Connection took a long time.
Speaker 1:Your connection. It took a long time, so it wasn't like snap, crackle drop.
Speaker 2:No, but that was downloading the game, the Mario game, but I think when you were transferring it it was actually pretty smooth actually.
Speaker 1:The transfer was smooth. The transfer was smooth. It was down on the game. That took a long time. Transfer was smooth. Down on the game took forever. And that's basically due to the connection.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so we had no problem with that as well.
Speaker 1:So also, I played the Switch on handheld mode. We'll say over the old two hours the battery was up to 80% of usage. So that was pretty good. But handheld mode it felt comfortable. Though the screen is always a lot bigger switch, it felt comfortable. My hands didn't cramp or anything like that. I'm not a handheld person. The Switch will always play dock. So I'm not a person who's going to be walking around with my Switch and taking it everywhere with me and playing all over the house. Most of the time I'll probably be playing it on the TV.
Speaker 2:Yeah, which is true, and I also remember one of the first concerts I made was when I had a homo. When I tried it I was like, well, this feels very comfortable and it reminds me of a Steam Deck the size, to be honest with you and I love the way the Steam Deck feels.
Speaker 2:For me to say that, you know, to me it's a compliment to the Switch 2. So you know, I got to say and it was comfortable, I had perfect grip even though it's a larger size. All around it was perfect for me. I had no issues with the size and holding it in handheld mode.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and the UI screen, everything going to settings. No problem, it's very smooth yeah, exactly a little faster than the Switch yeah, which is true.
Speaker 2:So now, how about we jump? Do you want to jump into the game yet or not yet, but also with the Joy Cards.
Speaker 1:You could actually remap it, yeah, yeah, yeah, you could remap it. Yeah, but I don't think the first one you could do that.
Speaker 2:No, I don't think the first one. You cannot do that.
Speaker 1:I don't remember doing that the first one, you cannot do that, but this one you can do that.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay.
Speaker 1:And you also, mr Amazing, you can also. It also has accessibility accessible, which is like for people who Accessibility and whatnot yes, larger text, bolder, more contrast mode, so it'll be easier if you want to read stuff like that. So you wanted to read stuff like that, so you have to read it. You can't hear you read the text, stuff like that, so it's great.
Speaker 2:Good. So Nintendo is making sure that they keep all audiences shot to play, which is a beautiful thing. We love stuff like that.
Speaker 1:Which is cool, which is cool. What else do you want to say, mr Amazing? I won't jump into the that yet, but while I was playing the Switch I had it on for three hours. There was no problem overheating.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:So the new cooling system is working fine.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:The dock is a lot bigger. Well, we'll say a lot thicker.
Speaker 2:It's dirtier to me and I like the blackness fields, because I feel like the white one got dirty fast. Well, mine did to be honest with you. I feel like it got dirty fast. Well, mine did to be honest with you, I think it got dirty fast. It looks more modern. The docket station.
Speaker 1:I think it looks more modern. I think it looks more modern. I give you a say it doesn't look flimsy yeah it doesn't look flimsy, it looks like a little box.
Speaker 2:This one has a little bit more arch to it, you know like a sly-looking fast car. You know that kind of look. Baby got back. Yeah, pretty much it looks more stylish to me.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so yeah, I mean, I mean, like I said, one thing I want to say I do agree with you the Teno Switch should have given a slightly different look than the OG Switch so you really distinguish it from the OG Switch, Because the only thing that distinguishes it really the OG. Switch. Okay, because the only thing that distinguishes it really is the box, the boxing of it.
Speaker 2:Okay, okay, okay, okay. But tell them what with the mod-up? If it ain't broken, they're not fixing it, but remember you was complaining about that. I was. No, I didn't. I did want it to come with a different design.
Speaker 1:You was stern argument.
Speaker 2:No, I didn't. I did want a different design to differentiate between the two systems because they did look, but when I saw it in person, I saw the size. So the biggest. The first thing I noticed to start the show, it's the first thing I said too the size. I was like whoa, this thing is way bigger.
Speaker 1:So that was the first that differentiated from me, but at the end into the games Pro Controller. What do you think of that?
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, the Pro Controller felt really good. Yeah, the Pro Controller too. Yes, it feels it leads more towards the Xbox controller, to me personally.
Speaker 1:Every time you get a controller like that, similar mapping, everybody says that it's the Xbox. Yeah, it feels like the Xbox, but it's lighter.
Speaker 2:I feel like it's lighter. Yeah, I noticed when we were playing you I don't know you were using the Pro Controller more than I was. Yes, I was. You kept hitting the back button a lot, I noticed. So I don't think it's just a problem of getting used to the controller. I didn't you hit a couple of times because remember you the game messing the gink? Because when we were playing our you know, the Mario Kart, mario World, you hit the button a couple of times actually.
Speaker 1:So I don't know if it's like. I don't remember pausing it, you did.
Speaker 2:You hit it a couple of times. So I don't know. You're not used to the controller, or is it you know?
Speaker 1:It's the first time in a while, but it happens.
Speaker 2:I've done that several times it's probably just a matter of getting used to the controller it is sometimes the way my hand is but overall I think the controller is good. I think it's going to be a perfect controller for fighting games, for racing games, for first shooter games, first person shooter games. The pro controller is perfect. I loved it on the prior versions and they perfected it on this one. Personally, I didn't buy the prior versions and they perfected it on this one me personally.
Speaker 2:I didn't buy the camera because I'm not going to use the camera. We're not going to use that. Let's keep it real, we're not going to use it and we, honestly, we didn't use the game chat feature yet.
Speaker 1:Yeah, we're not going to change that feature, so unless Mr Maisy gets one, or I know somebody also has a Switch, but Switch 2, no one has Switch 2.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I don't know anyone with the Switch 2 yet outside of us.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it was a funny story. While I was walking to my car with the Switch 2, somebody said excuse me, excuse me, it was a bus driver. Yeah, he's like yo. Yo, you got the Switch. Yeah, yeah, I got it. I said, oh so you pre-ordered it? Yeah, I got it. You owe you pre.
Speaker 1:I said oh, so you pre-ordered? Yeah, I pre-ordered, damn. So it was really demand, because while I was waiting in line, people were like yo, you waiting for the Switch? It wasn't that big of a line when I went down went down around 1130 to pick it up, so I saved 10 people in front of me Mike man you got to bring like a grocery store bag and put the switch to inside a grocery store bag. So if you don't know what, you carry man Yo.
Speaker 2:Mike is scared. I'm like oh All, right, we started the show. Let everyone know where to go get one. It ain't the best place to get one.
Speaker 1:No, no, no. But Mr Basie, we both know him. But it's not that bad, it's not that to happen, yeah for those who don't know, they're going to be afraid.
Speaker 2:If he was in Brownsville, Brooklyn, yes, there might have been a problem Everybody.
Speaker 1:I went to Brownsville, brooklyn, when I was coming from work. I was walking through there I was like yo, why this place called a seven? There's a reason why buddy I was like yo, why this place called a seven Yo, yo man, you in Brownsville I didn't know where I was at at the time you in Brownsville, son. I was like oh okay, okay, okay, I get it. Now I understand. Say no more, say no more. So. But anyway, Mr Bazer, let's talk about the games. Two games we played during the Switch launch.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 1:You know what?
Speaker 2:We'll go to Mario Kart.
Speaker 1:Yeah, obviously because that's a Switch 2 game. It came with the system.
Speaker 2:It came with the system. Yeah, so he had the preloaded one.
Speaker 1:We have to just preload that, oh yeah, but be careful, Because I thought it was like the Sony, where it was preloaded in there like Astro Bot.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay, okay, okay, okay, Never lose that card yeah so Please be careful with that one.
Speaker 1:And they want to lose and throw it out by mistake. So, yeah, so, like I said, I thought it was already downloaded in the system. But with your Nintendo Switch Mario Kart bundle, you have the card with it and you go to the Nintendo Store, put the code in, boom and it downloaded no problem. Yeah, yeah, it did.
Speaker 2:Downloaded Smooth, yep, yep. So, like Mike said, we started off with Mario World From the onset. It has what We'll say about 15 playable characters, or more than that.
Speaker 1:Give or take yeah, we earned some more. We earned some as we went through the circuits.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think we did like the first three circuits. We did, yeah, so we earned some characters. Your favorites are all there, mario Luigi. You know, the favorites are all there. Baby Mario, baby Luigi. Oh, wild Luigi, they're all there.
Speaker 1:I mean they could have been more, the cars could have been more, but remember, you get those as you go through the circuits. I would have more better cars.
Speaker 2:As you go through them, you get more, so we were playing Off the bat. What caught my eye was, like all the reviews said, was how large these stages are. Now, they were not lying about that, because there are multiple ways to go through a stage. Maybe be like one in a little hidden thing, uh-uh, there's like three ways now in a lot of these stages.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but some of the stages we were looking for ways we couldn't find anything. Yeah when we got to like the third circuit. We thought it was a section you couldn't go.
Speaker 2:You couldn't go. Yeah, I know what you're talking about. That's when we got to the third circuit, though, but I think prior to the third circuit, when we got there, they were they were different methods.
Speaker 1:In some ways we thought there was a way to go in there. Oh, the shortcut. Oh, we can't go in there, yeah which is true too. We did find those spots too as well.
Speaker 2:Which is true, which is true. The gameplay I love it. Simple, obviously, you get that whole button down. It's more Mario, it's a typical Mario game.
Speaker 1:It's still Mario Kart. It's still Mario Kart.
Speaker 2:You have the same what we would have called weapons or accessories, man's weapons. Damn it To get through a stage. They add new ones. You have the same common compliant games.
Speaker 1:Always had the hammer, the.
Speaker 2:Hammer one. I think the Hammer one is new. I can't remember. I can't remember either, because you know this thing has been for so long. I can't remember as well.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:So you know they have some new features as well too. It was fun, easy to play. We went through the circuit. I noticed I personally felt the computers got harder as the circuit started going. I noticed I was going lower and lower in rank. Oh no, paul Neal's getting those problems.
Speaker 1:Yeah, what would that be Paul Neal's like? What when the character? What the hell is this girl bothering?
Speaker 2:us for yeah, oh, one of the big features, too, is the amount of people that was playing at once. It was more than eight people, yeah, 24.
Speaker 1:That was a lot of people racing that game, so you in knockout mode where we need to check that out. That's coming. We'll update it when our next podcast will update you regarding that, absolutely, definitely will do that.
Speaker 2:For those who know me, my favorite character is Luigi, so you know I had him pretty much on the showcase. I thought it was Princess Peach.
Speaker 1:I thought you wanted to promote the game.
Speaker 2:I promoted it. Hey, I'm probably going to get hit. The cat comes to get hit.
Speaker 1:Hey, he said the game was going to outsell this other game, but he didn't support it. He didn't support it, right?
Speaker 2:I didn't support it, I can't lie.
Speaker 1:Then he didn't buy the game Yo yo. That don't mean I won't, though. This is the man who bought the Barbie game when he was younger.
Speaker 2:So yeah, yo.
Speaker 1:Hey, did you try to give me the Burger King game?
Speaker 2:I did give you the Burger King game. I didn't put Xbox, I'm not sure it's worth any money.
Speaker 1:Probably not, but go on, mr Amazing.
Speaker 2:So you know we got it today. We had a good time, we played it. First of all, circuits.
Speaker 1:No one want to play with us. We asked the fan members to play with us.
Speaker 2:Yeah, they didn't want to jump in. They're probably nervous.
Speaker 1:I don't know it was late.
Speaker 2:Like you said, it was late, though it was late, it was late, so yeah. We'll have more time.
Speaker 1:Yeah, the game was good. The game was good, more Mario Kart. If you like Mario Kart, it's more Mario Kart.
Speaker 2:Yeah, exactly, If you like Mario Kart you're going to Contra game, yeah that was good.
Speaker 1:That was good, but I think the PlayStation 5 version is a lot better. I played the demo. I think the characters are a lot larger.
Speaker 2:Man, come on, man, You're playing PlayStation 5? Playstation 2. A lot larger. You can't sit here and compare a PlayStation 5 character to another Switch character.
Speaker 1:A little more A big difference there, buddy A little more definition. You know, the pipe thorns look a little bigger, but it was good. There was no frame drops. No, not at all.
Speaker 2:Not at all. It was very easy to use too, actually.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so we have fun. We got to go back and play it. It was good. I want to try the fighting games on it. Okay, as Skullgirls on it, girls on, see how it plays on that street fighter 6 also, I think that's.
Speaker 2:That's outside.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, you gonna buy street fighter 6 for it, I have it, I'm gonna pay us five.
Speaker 2:No, I got, I got school girls okay, we could try that in another fighting game.
Speaker 1:Post again, post again to amazon. So we'll try to see how they go. We'll. We'll tell you our progress with the uh, with the switch. Um, do the podcast. We'll tell you our progress on it. It won't be the next podcast, but the following podcast will give you more update on.
Speaker 2:You'll probably get a larger scale review from me when, I think, when Donkey Kong comes out, because that's a game, I'm really looking forward to the new Donkey Kong, because I love the Donkey Kong games, to be honest with you. So when that comes out and that game looks really good, we have mastered it by then. Maybe we've used the chat feature, who knows?
Speaker 1:but is this like, like I said, we need more time, we need more, we need more time in the oven, yeah, to really give our more of our better view of the Nintendo Switch and you know, and let it go to a regular roll of a game system for just playing for a couple hours, a couple of days really can't give the test to a test of time. Woody, give a big observation of it exactly, I agree with that you know cause?
Speaker 1:a country game it played, no problem. No problem, it's not like we'll say cyberpunk, yeah, it's more taxing game exactly than the country game, which is a side scroll game shooter. So we'll try to fight a game with the imports and stuff like that. See how that plays. And we'll try another co-op game on this. See how it goes.
Speaker 2:And like I said when Donkey Kong, I think it's going to be a good game on that too. Actually, yeah, I'd be interested too.
Speaker 1:What's the name of the Donkey Kong game again, the new one that's coming out? I?
Speaker 2:think August is coming out.
Speaker 1:No, no, next month's called July, what's?
Speaker 2:July. What's the name? Oh God, I got shit I'll make it called Don't Come Freeze, but it's not. Don't Come Freeze. No, no, no, no, no that game. It is the Nintendo Switch. Guys, you guys got to pardon me because I don't know enough in my head.
Speaker 1:I forgot about the top of my head.
Speaker 2:Okay, it's amazing. I'm just and that game is going to be called yeah, it would be nice if it popped up, but it didn't. Donkey Kong Country 2.
Speaker 1:I played Metro Prime when there was no you know, I said no frame rate drop. It did look more colorful on it. So yeah, so far the experience has been good on the Nintendo Switch 2. But Mr Mazer doesn't know.
Speaker 2:Donkey Kong Bonanza.
Speaker 1:Okay.
Speaker 2:Yeah, coming out July 17th.
Speaker 1:That's way off though. Yeah, that's way off, but the thing I have with the Nintendo Switch on that concern, where's the outlook for the next six months for the Nintendo Switch?
Speaker 2:Well, they have a relevant.
Speaker 1:What's your opinion, Mr Mazin? Oh, I think it's going to be.
Speaker 2:I think, mr Mazin, oh, I think it's going to be, I think.
Speaker 1:Okay, let's start with the basics, For now it's January.
Speaker 2:The basic is I don't think it's going to be as hard to find when it goes for the prior consoles that came out with the Xbox and the PS5. I think more people will be accessible to it, so that's a good thing. I really think that's going to be it. I think it's a growing community again. What I mean by that is that you're going to have new wave of people joining it Like the older wave and stuff like that.
Speaker 1:You think it's a new wave? Yeah, because, remember, nintendo brings in all ages, but I don't think there's a new wave of people coming in.
Speaker 2:Well, I think you are, because Nintendo's the only system I see that can 80 year olds 70 year olds?
Speaker 1:yeah, why would? Why would you bring them in?
Speaker 2:because they they've already immersed in the prior ones, so I think you're gonna continue.
Speaker 1:I knew what you said. You said new wave. You said new wave. I didn't say that. I should say all ages but my thing is like I know we mentioned the mode we didn't try on the Joy-Con was the mouse mode oh yeah, but we don't really have a game. We probably could adapt one of the games to it.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:But no, my impression of the mouse is wasted. The idea in time.
Speaker 2:I don't know. I can't say that Unless you're getting games like Warcraft. There's a game. I don't know the name of it. We did a review on that a couple of months ago A couple of shows ago.
Speaker 1:We talked about it a couple of weeks ago the wheelchair game.
Speaker 2:No, not the wheelchair. There was that too, but it was another game. It looked like I forgot the name of the game.
Speaker 1:It was a new Metro game. They was using it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but you gotta remember a lot of, remember a lot. Think about game, because a lot of people who play PC find the mouse feature very accessible for certain games.
Speaker 1:It's good for games if you get Boulder's Gate to come to it.
Speaker 2:Okay, that's fine, and that's probably why.
Speaker 1:Warcraft games like that. It's amazing, I think, the feature that's being used or utilized by a large number of people.
Speaker 2:To be honest, Remember you and I might not use it, but there's a lot of. It's a big niche for other people though, remember, even for the shooters. They love that mouse feature for shooter games too. Remember me and you don't use it, but remember it's a big niche for some people. Man, a lot of people got hyped over that. I was like okay, cool, I can see where it worked out.
Speaker 1:Mr Mason, no, there's a lot of people.
Speaker 2:It's a big niche for other people, man.
Speaker 1:Mr Mason, no, I disagree with you.
Speaker 2:I think it's a big niche for a lot of people.
Speaker 1:Mr Mason no, we'll find out. No and no, we'll find out, and no and no, but continue next month.
Speaker 2:It's all about the games. Be honest with you. What games are coming out?
Speaker 1:What do I always say? It's all about the games.
Speaker 2:Kid, it's about the games. We just got to figure out what games are coming out. I mean we've mentioned them in the past. I mean we did just confirm the Donkey Kong you have. What other games do you have? You have the upgrades from the Zelda. They didn't pay the Zeldas. You could play it on here now with updated graphics.
Speaker 1:You got to pay extra money for the upgrades.
Speaker 2:I thought it was free if you had it. Am I confused?
Speaker 1:I have to check again, but I think you have to pay for it.
Speaker 2:You might be right.
Speaker 1:Axel, you might be right. I just no, I just my thing is about the game. I think the Donkey Kong game, donkey Kong game, the Metro Prime, the Metro game, the Metroid game sorry, that's coming out. I believe this. I think it's a rumor that Splatoon 3 is coming out. Oh yeah, so in the near future, within the next six months.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:So that's another hit game for them. The Makers Form Software is coming out again. It's coming out, I believe, in January, so we'll say a Bloodborne Soul Light game with multiplayer, supposed to be on there. So I believe it's multiplayer. Correct me if I'm wrong. So that was, I believe, early January of next year.
Speaker 2:Okay, okay, okay. So do you think we're going to see more triple A, triple A games on there now from third parties? They got they got.
Speaker 1:They got, manipus come out. Oh that's going to be good 2K. Oh, so here we go.
Speaker 2:Yeah, those are going to be good, you don't even say anything. I think. I actually think it is because you, you and I was just complimenting the pro controller, so why would it not be?
Speaker 1:good with the Pro Controller.
Speaker 2:It's a pro controller, yeah, but you have Asha to be a pro controller too.
Speaker 1:Do you think the experience will be optimized as a PS5 or Xbox?
Speaker 2:It depends. If you don't care about visual, if you're not a big visual person, you don't care about experience.
Speaker 1:It's Madden 2K.
Speaker 2:You don't care about visuals yeah, but it's not a 4Drop Remember.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but it's not a 4Drop Remember when it's docked, it's 4K, it's 4K, but also Remember, you're talking to a guy who's playing his games in 1080 right now. So I think it'll be fine, don't? We're not going to go to that story where I was basically playing games in 1080 TV and he still hasn't even played the TV. Hey, cheap motherfucker.
Speaker 2:Switch was fine, man Plus, remember you also have the GameCube Classics that dropped that same day. I believe, too, that's also going to expand the gameplay on the Switch, so stuff like that is going to help out. A lot of games dropped out opening night too, and I say a lot of games like Split Fiction also dropped, cyberpunk also dropped that same night, final Fantasy VII there's a lot of games that dropped, so it's not like Hogwarts Legacy dropped that same day.
Speaker 1:also, my thing is that you talk about new people coming in there. Most of the people probably have an Xbox or let me start giggling myself Xbox, playstation 5. And why would you go buy a Nintendo Switch? Basically, you're going to buy it. Let's keep it real. You'll buy it for exclusive Nintendo games.
Speaker 2:Most people. You're going to buy it. Let's keep it real. You'll buy it for exclusive.
Speaker 1:Nintendo games. Most people will. I agree with you on that. Most people will. You're going to buy it for exclusive Nintendo games. Are you going to buy it mostly for third? Are you going to buy it for third-party games? Yeah, if you got PlayStation 5 or the very few who X or X, you're not going to buy it for the third-party games. You'll be third-party games on your Xbox or PlayStation 5. You go there to play the Nintendo exclusive Switch 2 games.
Speaker 2:We'll see, because, remember, you're right, because what is the next biggest? What are the two biggest exclusive games coming out this year for the Switch? Donkey Kong. I'll start with Mario. Forget Mario, it's already dropped.
Speaker 1:Donkey Kong and Metroid Prime.
Speaker 2:Right, yeah, metroid Prime 4. Beyond. So those are going to be the two biggest games. And if you were to add Kirby, because I know people like Kirby too, if you were to add Kirby in there.
Speaker 1:I do not like Kirby, put it on the record. I do not like Kirby Go ahead.
Speaker 2:So those are going to be the two biggest Nintendo exclusive games coming out this year. So Nintendo has a good window actually. So we'll see how that goes. And then after that you throw in games, like you just said, madden the WWE, nba 2K. Let's see how that works out, man, because I just want to see how they integrate the features into those systems.
Speaker 1:I want to see if they're going to put a Warcraftable on there. Come on of Warcraft to go on there you put an Elden Ring on that.
Speaker 2:I forgot you put an Elden Ring on that, so you already know it's going to be business. I think it's going to be fine to be honest with you.
Speaker 1:All right, Mr Mason. I mean, like I said, I'm not down on the outlook.
Speaker 2:Project 007. I forgot about they put that on too, so I'm looking forward on that too.
Speaker 1:So we'll see it's off to a good start. How many sales do you think it did I?
Speaker 2:should do the numbers for that. Actually, what's the numbers? In the first four days it did 3.5 million, which is very good. Nintendo's number is best-selling system of all time already for release, for release, for release. So that's great numbers and that's on par with, I'm guessing, the PlayStation. Right, the PlayStation was about the same, give on par with the.
Speaker 1:I'm guessing the PlayStation right, the PlayStation was about the same. Give or take the same thing. It's about the same. I'm trying to remember the same thing.
Speaker 2:Or PlayStation 5 was a little bit more, it might be I don't think it's that much, because I don't think they had consoles like that. To be honest with you. It might be more. You know, we'll look that up as the show progresses.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so, mr Amazing, anything else you want to say about that?
Speaker 2:No, no, no. But you know I'm excited it's out. No more wait, we know about it. So let's see man Now, just to see when the games come out and other people start getting so we can play with them.
Speaker 1:Which we're feeling for it's still going to be hard. It's still going to be hard to get, because no one surprised the amazon. It was. Did the amazon resell it? I don't know if I saw that amazon and those rumors were selling on staples though. Yeah, you said. You said the staples had a couple of them. Yeah, it probably had like 20 or 30 oh, okay, okay when the playstation 5 came out, they had playstation 5 as an xbox series s, but in the eastern area of new york, uh, or the Tri-State area, yeah.
Speaker 2:Okay, I actually got the number. So this is crazy. Let's read this out the PlayStation 5 sold worldwide on its launch days. In its first four weeks it shipped 3.4 units. Oh wow, 3.4 million. Nintendo did that in its first four days, damn. So we already know that Nintendo surpassed that and Nintendo's on a.
Speaker 1:The Godfather gaming strikes back.
Speaker 2:But we also have to give it. We also have to be mindful that the places came out during the pandemic, so we also have to be mindful about that Still give it up for the Godfather gaming. Yeah, so that goes to show you.
Speaker 1:Yo, godfather, deal with tariffs. Tariffs are coming, tariffs are coming.
Speaker 2:So that goes to show you that, yeah, Nintendo blew everything out the window.
Speaker 1:All right, mr Mason, let's go to our trailer of the week. All right, our trailer of the week is Pick Up. Starring A Murphy.
Speaker 2:Pick Up.
Speaker 1:I don't know what that is.
Speaker 2:But now you're going to know. Now, mr Mason, let's start the trailer. All right, let's go Three. You're going to have dinner 8 pm sharp. Don't be late. We'll be right back on my hotel home floor. Holy shit, someone tell me you can make me happy. I can't. This is my 25th wedding anniversary. If I miss dinner with my wife tonight, I will be shot.
Speaker 1:Don't do anything stupid. Whatever gets you home to your wife in time for your special day. Happy anniversary.
Speaker 2:My boy get out there.
Speaker 1:You were supposed to retire. I'm moving on to a new career. You're pivoting this late. Well, how old do you think I am? Well, you're black, so you look 40, but you could be up to 90. Hey yo, you seeing this, pull over and you won't get hurt. We're gonna die.
Speaker 2:Calm down, remember your training I took a 15-hour online course. What training Boom.
Speaker 1:I'll be Reggie Miller who, oh, that's not good.
Speaker 2:Since you're gonna kill us, why don't you just show us who you are? Tell us your shoulders down. You better give me that money. I'm gonna go up and you swallow that shit if you throw up your up. What is this and who is they? Change of plans. You two are gonna help me steal $60 million from the casino, because if you don't't your wife's dead if you let us go.
Speaker 1:You bang my twin sister sounds like me with long hair. You trying to get us shot russell, you don't answer your phone.
Speaker 2:Did you forget you're?
Speaker 1:a latina, I put a in your neck. Hi, natalie, you fell in latina.
Speaker 2:I put a trucking chip in your neck. Hi, natalie, you fell in love this weekend. Of course, we did butt stuff that was awesome, dude.
Speaker 1:I put my leg and my foot and my ankle and my meniscus. I know I tore my whole back out too. What, just from that?
Speaker 2:Are those the same? Underwear from Friday Should have been a red flag. Shut the red flag.
Speaker 1:Mr Amazing, the pick-up coming August 6th, starring Eddie Murphy. Who else, Mr Amazing?
Speaker 2:What's the star-studded Pete Davidson, Marshawn Lynch, Keke Palmer, Eva Longoria and more. To be honest with you, Yo, I mean it's star-studded. I laughed a couple of times doing the trailer, so it's pretty funny and you know, the story doesn't look bad. It's pretty action-filled as well. From what we saw, the only thing is go for that trope.
Speaker 1:You're the older guy, you're retiring, you're a rookie. I'm like oh no.
Speaker 2:It's like the young guy with the older guy.
Speaker 1:It was just fine. We see it before. I'm about to tell you something happens.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it was just true.
Speaker 1:You know it's that storyline, but you know, hey, it's how you present it so, mr Maisy, the question is do you green light this trailer, red light it, or y'all light the trailer?
Speaker 2:I'm gonna green it. I laughed a couple of times. You guys got me the trailer, so that's always a good thing. I greenlighted.
Speaker 1:I greenlighted, let's hope I think we greenlighted the last A Murphy movie trailer. Which one was that? Do you remember? Was it you People, you People? I didn't see that and also that didn't get good reviews. I think we also greenlighted Beverly Hills Cop. I saw Beverly Hills.
Speaker 2:I don't think it was that bad. It was okay. I didn't think it was bad. I saw Beverly Hills Cop. I don't think it was bad, it was okay but it wasn't like the ones we saw in the 80s, 90s. Whatever it was, it wasn't like that, but it wasn't bad. They're older, they're older?
Speaker 1:No, they're older than me.
Speaker 2:No, no, no, no it wasn't bad.
Speaker 1:No, no, it wasn't good either.
Speaker 2:It was mid.
Speaker 1:So, mr Amazing, I do really like this trailer as well. But, mr Amazing, let's go to our shoot recap topic of the week. Mr Amazing. So our shoot recap topic of the week is Mr Amazing, hold on a second. Guess what's delayed, uh-oh.
Speaker 2:Guess what's delayed. I'm waiting for you to guess what's delayed. Yes, oh, a movie or a game, a tender related, so it's a game. I'm guessing Nintendo, is it something?
Speaker 1:that I'm not going to tell you what it is, I'm not going to say the game, what else?
Speaker 2:Is it something that's been anticipated for a long time?
Speaker 1:Anticipated curiosity. Is it the new Mario movie? No, mr Mason, it's a Zelda movie, live action Zelda movie. It has been delayed. I'd be looking forward to that. Supposed to be coming out March 2027. Sorry, 2027. It's been delayed to May 2027. It's a few weeks. That's not bad. Actually I don't know, it's just a little more time to cook baby.
Speaker 2:Maybe they're working on a new Zelda to coincide with it.
Speaker 1:maybe, who knows- Should we care a lot, a little and not all, mr.
Speaker 2:Amazing. I'm going to be honest with you. I'm not going to care a lot because I'm still against this movie.
Speaker 1:I bet you the Princess Peace movie will be there.
Speaker 2:And you know I'm a big Zelda fan, but I'm against it because I don't know how you make a movie where the guy don't talk. He's going to talk now. That's what I'm saying. It's going to be awkward. It's going to be too awkward for us. It doesn't bother me if he don't talk. Come on, keep it real, michael. The guy doesn't say a goddamn word. Vocal word echoes out of his mouth in the game and you're going to see him on the big screen talking. Does Mario really talk? Yeah, but he talks, though. Oh, come on. He had cartoon shows he talked in. He had so many that he talked in.
Speaker 1:Okay, I see the point. Yeah, but you never said that. But Zelda had a cartoon show too and he talked.
Speaker 2:He did, but that cartoon wasn't as big as the Mario franchise cartoon shows and so many other stuff he did with that. Is that the same thing? So I think it's going to be pixel. I said live action, Mr. Mays Live action oh God, I'm kind of skeptical about it If it's pixel, I would say, all right, I can probably get another. Now I'm even more. I don't know if I care about this, to be honest with you.
Speaker 1:I don't know, man, I guess, when I see, my trailer.
Speaker 2:I'll have a better point of view, but it ain't sounding too good for me, man. What about you?
Speaker 1:I mean, I'm not the biggest I like Zelda. When I heard it was live-action same thing, I was speculating as you, so I'm like I don't know, I'd like to see a live-action Metroid game.
Speaker 2:Yeah that's fine.
Speaker 1:That'll work. I think that's fine, that would work. I think that would work, that would work.
Speaker 2:Zelda. I'm like, I know, because Zelda is so fantasy-based too, so it's like it's so, oh damn, it's like, so fantasy-based. I don't know how they're going to bring that I mean. Yeah, it's like I don't know, we'll see, I will see.
Speaker 1:Minecraft was live action and I think Minecraft had I think it sold a billion.
Speaker 2:God damn. I'm not surprised, though, the guy popping the damn game is.
Speaker 1:So I'm not surprised. I mean we both said I don't care at all. I'll be honest, I mean, unless you see a movie trailer for it. I got to see a trailer to be honest with you, to make me move me to go see it at this point.
Speaker 2:I don't really care. Yeah, me too.
Speaker 1:No, you don't have me right now I got to see a trailer. I'm like, oh yeah, okay, we'll get to it, because I don't see I'm with Mike on this one if you say, oh, the second Mario Mario movie, mario Brothers movie is coming out, I'm like, ah damn, I seen the movie.
Speaker 1:I enjoyed it it's pulling what it can do. You know what I'm saying. So, everybody, you know how we feel. We don't care at this time. Alright, mr Mason, let's go to. You think I care, mr Mason. Let's go to our Gangsta Awakes of the Week, mr Mason and you know who our Awakes of the Week is our. Awakes of the Week is it's our neighboring state in New Jersey, the GameStop store which one?
Speaker 2:the one? Uh, it's located in New Jersey, right oh the one, the store I was telling you about.
Speaker 1:Oh no, staten Island, sorry, sorry, not New Jersey people, staten Island One of the five boroughs, the five boroughs and people in the New York City, Staten Island is like the lowest rated borough.
Speaker 2:No one cares about Staten.
Speaker 1:Island Yo, so but anyway, mr Mays do so.
Speaker 2:Several customers that went to go shop at GameStop were there. That was a lot of customers then. Yeah, it was a lot actually. So circles that went online, got their Switch 2 Reserve, went to pick up their system, only to find out their system in the box, sealed, were damaged. And you might ask what happened? Did it fall off the truck? Was it roughly handled? No, it was damaged by associates of the GameStop. So what happened was that these GameStop employees were stapling the receipts to the box of the Switch and when they were stapling it, they were stapling it ontoipts to the box of the Switch and when they were stapling it, they were stapling it onto the screen that was puncturing the screen. And then when I read the story, remember you, and I looked at it it was like how did that happen? When we opened it, we saw how close in proximity the screen was to the box and you know there's no protection. There was no protection.
Speaker 1:No protection, there's no protection.
Speaker 2:There was no protection, no protection. So yeah, with a I guess with an electric stapler easily could go through that.
Speaker 1:Any stapler went through that, it would damage it Easily.
Speaker 2:So I don't know. I don't have a number of how many units were damaged, but let's say they had 150 sold. God damn, that's a lot of money.
Speaker 1:That's a lot of pissed off people. Excuse our language.
Speaker 2:Yeah, no, I was pissed off too. You waited forever, had it reserved. Oh, I just hope this employees who did this didn't get fired because it's not their fault. Fired, Probably so because you died. That's a $500 damage. Fired, Sorry people. Yeah, so that one man. I'm sorry man. It's an automatic dismissal. Yeah, yeah, unfortunately.
Speaker 1:And also where these boys are.
Speaker 2:The Wankster of the Week. I'm sorry, guys. You guys deserve that one, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1:I'm like why are they taping it on there? I don't know, I don't know if they had the staple like that too.
Speaker 2:I don't know had the staple like that too. Oh my God, just give you the receipt, or staple it on the bag when you get the system.
Speaker 1:Yeah, give you the free bag and charge 10 cents for the bag. I don't know.
Speaker 2:Staple it right on the bag and then keep it moving On the box. It's just crazy. But you can also play Nintendo too, because Nintendo's going to put you to like, don't you know, certain items.
Speaker 1:I was surprised. It was like really not protected. That screen was not protected.
Speaker 2:It wasn't. By the packaging, I was like oh, you know I'm curious now because, knowing that a stapler could do that, I got to go online and look at one of those drop tests that people be doing. I hate that. I see that when people buy phones or systems and they take it and they throw it off a goddamn roof, they drop it a couple of times to see if it passed the drop test. I'm curious to see if they did. I'm sure they have it online somewhere.
Speaker 1:I'm just curious to see how flimsy it's like a survive dropper. People do it on Tyler. That's like a thing.
Speaker 2:That's a thing people do, like they buy, especially with phones. It's very popular with phones. People buy phones, strong as a phone is. They do it with systems too. So I'm curious. I want to go watch a Switch video.
Speaker 1:I'm not dropping my PS5.
Speaker 2:Exactly, off the thing, just to see how flimsy or strong it is. People do it all the time. It's a thing now and people love it.
Speaker 1:I'm good.
Speaker 2:I'm with you, I'm with you.
Speaker 1:You do it for views. Yeah, I'm All right, mr Amazing, our shout-out of the week goes to Mr Amazing, myself and all of you who got to attend the Switch on day one. Give those people a shout-out. Hey, we see what happened in the news. We're homeboy with the GameStop and tore the GameStop up because he couldn't get one. Don't be one of those people. People Don't be like Bob, yes, or Tyrone or Big Pedro, acting crazy in the store. Yeah, we don't want to be those guys. Yeah. Well, mr B, whoever got the Nintendo Switch 2, enjoy it. I hope you have many, many great years with it and I hope Nintendo will provide you many, many more great years of gaming and other innovative stuff they do with the Nintendo consoles as well. But, mr Mason, before you end the show, I got two things to ask.
Speaker 1:What you got to say.
Speaker 2:It's important for me to ask you right now.
Speaker 1:What.
Speaker 2:Before we end the show. We don't have to get detailed, because the show has run on long enough. Question number one is going to be how long you think the Nintendo Switch 2 is going to last. Is it going to be as long Eight years? So do you give it eight years as well?
Speaker 1:Like the Switch, probably seven, six, seven years Seven years, so you give it a year less than the Switch. Yeah, seven, six years.
Speaker 2:Okay, and the final question is is the Switch going to surpass the PlayStation 2 sales? The Switch now.
Speaker 1:Switch 1.
Speaker 2:Switch 1. Because that's the one that's close.
Speaker 1:Yo.
Speaker 2:No Do you know the final numbers on that right now? What the numbers are? Wait, wait. I'm not sending you because I don't even know Beyonce, I gotta look.
Speaker 1:No, it's not, Nope.
Speaker 2:So do you? What is your answer?
Speaker 1:Because you know the Switch 1 is not going to $153 million.
Speaker 2:Is what the PlayStation 2 is at. No, it's $160 the PlayStation 2 oh yeah, yeah, yeah, You're right, you're right, you're right.
Speaker 1:I think it's 153 million last, 154 million last. I've checked for the switches 150? 154. I think it's 154 million or 153 million, All right let's see so NC Choice.
Speaker 2:My friend, you are about right Right now. It's Wait, hold on, I'm looking at the wrong thing, wrong thing. Ah, this thing is. It threw me off. Let's see I apologize. Why is it not showing me?
Speaker 1:damn I may have to pause this because I'm holding. I'm holding the show up. It's amazing, you got chelsea, yo the king ah, okay, nintendo Switch exceeding 150.
Speaker 2:You're right, it's about 153 right now. Okay, so remember, the Switch is going to be around for at least two years. So we'll see. We'll see, mr.
Speaker 1:Mazin, we'll see.
Speaker 2:All right, we have to end the Nintendo with a Nintendo question.
Speaker 1:All right, all right, mr Nintendo, over here, everybody. This is the Game of Trap show. Like and subscribe. Sorry, we're late, blame Mr Amazing. Anytime we're late, blame Mr Amazing, all right. So next show we'll be talking about Mr Amazing. We'll be talking about the PlayStation Showcase and the Xbox Showcase and many other topics. All right, peace and love. We out Later, later, later. Thank you.
