PlayStation 4 Support Ending, Helldivers team up with Halo, Red Dead Redemption 2 hitting 77 million copies sold, who the female cover athlete of NBA 2k 26 should be and much more.
Gaming is approaching a tipping point with PlayStation 4 support ending in 2026 and game prices climbing to unprecedented levels. We dive into industry shifts and question whether $80 games will become the new normal.
• PlayStation 4 support winding down with major developers dropping the 12-year-old console by early 2026
• Beat Saber and Genshin Impact outlining multi-phase withdrawal plans
• Helldivers 2 arriving on Xbox Series X on August 26th with exclusive Halo-themed content
• Red Dead Redemption 2 hitting 77 million copies sold, ranking 7th all-time
• Gaming prices potentially reaching unsustainable levels with $80 games and console price hikes
• The case for more reasonably priced AA games instead of bloated AAA experiences
• Ideal game length debate with 20-30 hours feeling "sweet" for adventure games
Check out the games we discussed and consider whether the industry is heading toward another crash or if these price increases are justified.
Let's do this. Welcome everybody to another episode of the Game of Traffic show. I'm your host, Mike Sampson.
Speaker 2:Telling my co-hosts what am I doing today?
Speaker 1:Everybody get up for Mr Amazing On today's Game of Traffic show. We're going to talk about. Mr Amazing. We're going to talk about, finally, helldivers will be arriving to what? Mr Amazing? Xbox and it will have Halo crossover information. What kind of information material in the game? Mr Amazing, master Chief will not be in it. Mr Master Chief will not be in it. Oh man, can we wait for Halo? So Master Chief is going to be in it?
Speaker 2:No, of course. Man Can't wait for his Halo of the Masters. He's going to be in it. No, of course not. He'll be a DLC later on though I doubt it.
Speaker 1:No, he will not be a DLC people. No, no, no, no. We also going to talk about yo Pac-Man 4. After how many years, like a candle? When did PlayStation 4 come out again?
Speaker 2:2014? 14, 13 years 12 years.
Speaker 1:Sorry, 12 years, it feels like longer, but your whole support is ending for a lot of publishers, developers and support for it. You know what I'm saying, mr Amazing and also Mr Amazing. The topic we want to talk about is gaming pricing out of control, mr.
Speaker 2:Amazing.
Speaker 1:Absolutely, but again today she'll talk about PlayStation 4 support dwindling down. Mr Mazin, Do you want to talk about it, or should I speak up on it?
Speaker 2:We can do both. We can do both. I'll start off, we can continue, so let's see so. According to Games Bible, playstation 4 support is expected to gradually cease in quarter one of 2026. And this is because major developers and publishers don't want to support no more because it's becoming costly for an older system, and they want to focus mostly on the new PlayStation 5, which makes a lot of sense to me, especially since that's over 12 years old, so I understand where they're coming from. But you have fans and fanatics that are like no, what are we going to do? Because we can't afford the PS5 yet and they just hiked it up 50 bucks.
Speaker 1:Damn Skippy.
Speaker 2:So you guys got to get up on that train because you're just going to have a black screen after this man, mr Mason what the fan person say Get two jobs.
Speaker 1:He did say that. Get two jobs in the system. That is the most waxed thing.
Speaker 2:Actually I might be jacked to come out of my life. Heard he said you can't afford, go get a second job.
Speaker 1:This ain't for you, pretty man, that's right. You know what? Forget paying your rent, would you?
Speaker 2:rather have a PlayStation or a house on your head, a roof over your head or a PlayStation. Forget that. You better ask somebody.
Speaker 1:No, if you don't know.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but back to topic, man. So a lot of these publishers feel like there are limitations to what they can do as well, so it's not clear what is going to end, though. Official date.
Speaker 1:Official date. When is it going to end?
Speaker 2:We just have like a timeline Some say January, some say February of 2026, but no official date when they put in the plug yet.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you're right. Place it for Dead Mars in 2013 and it's a 12-year-old console. So, yes, you're right. One of the companies has pulled support. As November 13th will be Bungie Bungie, not Bungie Pudge, they'll be pulling support. November 13th will be Bungie Bungie, or is it Bungie?
Speaker 2:But not Bungie Pudge, Pudge oh okay, they'll be pulling support.
Speaker 1:So the only time you're going to play this, their game is on the PlayStation 5 or the Xbox. Not bad, the current generation, the latest, the latest Madden I believe the latest Madden is playing on PlayStation 4 or 2K should not be playing on PlayStation 4.
Speaker 2:That's how you push the agenda to start selling more PlayStation 5 units too. So I'm not mad at what they're doing.
Speaker 1:They know what they're doing, so they're doing what they're doing. So also, another game is playing the discontented services, gen C, gen Psy, gen Psy. Impact has recently stated that it's three phases. The first days PlayStation 4 version of the game will be removed from the PlayStation Store on September 10th, but if you didn't have it already, you can redownload it. The second phase all in-game purses will be delisted on February 25, 2026. The final support will be delisted on February 25, 2026. The final support will be completely in August 2026. Dang, so they gave a roadmap, but the developers thanked people who supported the game and get a place in five.
Speaker 2:Pretty much. Step your game up.
Speaker 1:Open those wows up and yo.
Speaker 2:You get one, you get one, you get one.
Speaker 1:Or get your charge card and charge it.
Speaker 2:Or just get your shigga mama, shigga daddy. Yep damn Skippy.
Speaker 1:Or cut some grass, like these lazy kids out here that cut no damn grass.
Speaker 2:There you go there you go.
Speaker 1:All right. Also, Mr Amazing, another thing, Mr Amazing, Beat Saber is gone.
Speaker 2:Why, mr Amazing, that's fun actually Beat Saber. The proper VR game will no longer receive us the lights and everything. Yeah, yeah, that's fun, yeah, those are fun.
Speaker 1:We're no longer supporting VR for PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, Mr Amazing.
Speaker 2:Ah, why that's a very popular game 5, mr Amazing.
Speaker 1:Ah, why? That's a very popular game. It would take off Sony consoles, mr Amazing. Well, you got some time, mr Amazing. If you didn't get it, you still get it now, but in 2026, the beginning, it's goodbye. So I got some time, you got some time. So, unfortunate, that's another game, but they didn't state the reason why. But, mr Mazin, you know why. I know why we both do, cause I know I ain't buying it exactly. Mr Mazin, how many people know has a VR?
Speaker 2:just you, sir. That's it, and I have both of them just you.
Speaker 1:I mean, I'm used to that. I still didn't get a chance to play the new one. You will love it, but I haven't played it yet actually you haven't played it yet. You played the first one, I like it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, first we played it. It's not bad, I like it. I throw concepts to it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, this one's better. It's over. We're placing it to the price sites. Don't worry about it. The VR price site will not be going up. I hope not. It will not be going up. Yeah, but this is not new. To say would be support the Metal Quest and their support, although they're in support of Metal Quest in the end of 2024, so it's not. So you know what I'm saying. The VR space is not as popular as they thought it would be.
Speaker 2:COVID, killed it. Covid, yeah, killed it. It killed the VR world.
Speaker 1:You remember VR world? I wanted to go there. Covid killed it. We talked about it. It was over the VR station in Connecticut. That's Shut it down, son, shut it down. So it's amazing.
Speaker 2:Anything I want to say about this.
Speaker 1:It's good night to PlayStation 4 next year, but even though the PlayStation 3 store is still open and you still can buy some stuff on PlayStation 3.
Speaker 2:I didn't know that that's funny.
Speaker 1:Yeah, there Some multiplayer games you can still play.
Speaker 2:Oh, wow you know what I'm saying. Is the server still working? Yeah, Yo PlayStation 3 is still going strong, not bad.
Speaker 1:Not bad. So, mr Bay, anything else you want to say about this? Nah, I'm good. Any goodbyes? You want to say, yeah, not yet, until, not yet till next year yeah, well, I'll wait for it. I got something sweet for them my thing is like the key thing is yo Fortnite, fortnite, they cut servers. Yo Minecraft they cut servers.
Speaker 1:People still gonna play hell, no, yeah and they still got old fighting games people still gonna play online. So it's still. Yeah, so you know what I'm saying. Even old Call of Duty games people probably still play. The server's still on, that's for sure. So yo, pushing 4, you're still going to live baby, you still got it. You know what I'm saying? Yo, you still got it. Man, you might have gained a little fat, but the body's still booming. You know what I'm?
Speaker 2:saying Get that Coca-Cola body.
Speaker 1:Mr Amazing. Next topic is let's go. Hell is Helldivers and Halo, Mr Mason. I'll let you speak upon it. The crossover was officially announced a couple weeks ago. Yes, and we've seen the video. I've seen the video on YouTube.
Speaker 2:Yes, sir.
Speaker 1:You have an Xbox symbol in it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so coming to the Xbox Series X is Helldiver 2.
Speaker 1:It's supposed to release on August 26, which is very close Same day where PlayStation owners will get Mr Maze and Gears of.
Speaker 2:War oh, there'll definitely be a battle. So the Xbox version will also feature a unique Halo-themed legendary warband.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like several different weapons based on ODST weapons.
Speaker 2:Yep, that is correct, so that's a good look for them, I mean.
Speaker 1:What is it? The MA5C assault rifle, Mr Mazin. Icon rifle, Mr Mazin.
Speaker 2:That's cool, I like it and I think it all should be like that. To be honest with you, Like you know, the cross play and all that stuff.
Speaker 1:We also have the shotgun, mr amazing, the armor a9 hell jumper. It's off the chain, mr amazing. So I mean you go online, you can check it out. Um, I'm not a big online player. I did buy the game yeah yeah, so I haven't.
Speaker 1:I haven't got time really to play and, like I said, I'm not too much of a multiplayer person. Okay, and, as you, I think both are not too much of a multiplayer person Because, like I said, it's just dedicated time and effort to do that, to keep up with all the people, keep up with all the weapons. That's a lot of effort, bro. I don't have the time for it.
Speaker 2:I'm with you. I'm no's a great idea.
Speaker 1:I mean, like I said, with this crossover announcement there was a jump in the steam count.
Speaker 2:Oh, people getting ready.
Speaker 1:People engaging it.
Speaker 2:Oh, so there you go. The people have spoken.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so they're very excited about this.
Speaker 2:So I think it's a great idea, and I think it's a great idea. I think it's a great idea.
Speaker 1:Overall, I think it's a good look for Sony, good look for Microsoft.
Speaker 2:As long as, and it's good look for gamers.
Speaker 1:Exactly, I don't. People are going crazy. You're not going to see God of War on Xbox. Stop it.
Speaker 2:Not.
Speaker 1:Maybe two or three years? No, probably not You're right, you're not going to see his daughter on there. So you're not going to see Horizon on there. Dough Horizon went on Lego and so many of those are talking about the sales of that. So, mr Amazing, anything else you want to say about this? Nah, I'm good, all right, mr Amazing. Yes, sir, our next topic. We're going to talk about Red Dead Redemption 2. Mr Mazin, you want to talk about this, the sales record it has achieved, mr Mazin?
Speaker 2:Can you tell the people?
Speaker 1:what's the number? What's the number?
Speaker 2:Red Dead has sold Red.
Speaker 1:Dead 2. Redemption.
Speaker 2:Red Dead 2. Redemption has sold 77 million copies. Damn has sold 77 million copies. Damn. To put that into perspective, Red Dead 2 and Red Dead 1 combined sells 104. So this is carrying over 70% of the sales for this system for Rockstar.
Speaker 1:Buy a lot, buy a double at Beyonce with you.
Speaker 2:So this is a good look for Red Dead 2, man, and this places it, I think, number seven of all time selling games. So that's a good you know feature to know. And what's funny is prices of Red Dead, because we talked about price hikes in our other prize shows. Prices of Red Dead actually went up recently.
Speaker 1:Last year but why In Ukraine?
Speaker 2:I mean in the United Kingdom, chile, brazil and the Czech Republic.
Speaker 1:Did this got the game? What happened? I don't know why it was banned.
Speaker 2:The prices went up so maybe they see it moving. There's profit from it.
Speaker 1:But he said it's not profit from it, but he said about profit, michael, but that, oh, my thing is that and I'm just pricing the game go ahead, finish, go ahead.
Speaker 2:No, no, just you know speaking on it. So, like I said earlier, there are um. Do you, mike? Do you want to give it? Do you have the list of the, the games that are ahead of? Uh?
Speaker 1:red dead cell numbers. One thing is grand theft auto mike uh off the top of my head.
Speaker 2:So Minecraft was number one. Hundreds of millions.
Speaker 1:Yeah, number two is 150 million PlayStation All-Stars no.
Speaker 2:But number three is Tetris at 100 million. Yeah, tetris. Number four Wii Sports Yep, that is correct, 83 million.
Speaker 1:Number five is, let me guess. Let me guess it's something. What is it a shooter?
Speaker 2:I think so. It's called Player Unknown Battleground. I think it is at $70 million.
Speaker 1:I heard the game. I don't know what the freak it is Me too.
Speaker 2:I was lost as well. Number six is our favorite Italian game.
Speaker 1:Mario Kart 8. Oh yeah, I was gonna say Mario Kart I think.
Speaker 2:Tony Montana and at number 7 is Red Dead okay so those are good numbers to be in good company, to be around, be honest with you. And that's wow. And I still have mine. I still haven't played it and there's rumors that they might be coming with an upgrade for the new gens, the only thing with Red Dead you can't be a bad guy. That's too difficult to play.
Speaker 1:I tried it. It was not a good look for me.
Speaker 2:Way too difficult.
Speaker 1:And I didn't like that because it forced you to play one way. But the game promised you to play good guy, bad guy.
Speaker 2:I don't like that, while playing on extremely hard, because that's what happens when there's like a million cops looking for you.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so all right, mr Amazing, anything else you want to say about this Amazing this?
Speaker 2:great achievement.
Speaker 1:No, it is an achievement, but no, I'm good. All right, cool, mr Amazing. Let's go to our Trail of the Week, mr Amazing, no, no, no no, no, I did some gaming pickup. I want you to grade them for me.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay.
Speaker 1:What do you think of my gaming pickups All right. Mr Amazing, here's my pickups.
Speaker 2:All right, so it looks like Michael just stole Rob a GameStop, but let's see what this is about. Y'all. The first one, all right so with a 10, though, so Mike sent to me with a Super Punch-Out.
Speaker 1:For the.
Speaker 2:NES. Yes, that's a great game. That's a great pickup. I'm going to rate this on a scale of 1 to 10.
Speaker 1:You rate the whole thing. Rate the whole thing from 1 to 10.
Speaker 2:1 to 10, right now the whole package.
Speaker 1:At the end you're saying yeah, at the end.
Speaker 2:Okay, it's a good pickup, though I'll say that it's not a Subatendo game. Oh, this is oh, some consider this one of the best Madden's ever Madden 95. That's a good one.
Speaker 2:So far he presented me three Super NES games and I gave him a good score so far. Let's keep it going. See what you got going on here. Dead or Alive 3 was one of my favorite Dead or Alive's, actually on the original Xbox y'all. Okay, you're hot. What's this? Mario Tennis, ultra Smash this is a good one too, but somebody even argued that the Wii Sport one is better. But this is still a good pickup for me. Let's see, mario Strike is charged. This is fun. I play this one. Actually. I like this game. I think I still have my copy on this actually. Okay, what's this?
Speaker 1:whoa, one of my one of my favorite games, but it comes with a twist super mario world, return to dinosaur. It's a it's a twist to that game, so it's. It's a. It's a original game, but or with a twist.
Speaker 2:What's the twist on?
Speaker 1:this. It changed it up. Oh, so I bought. I went to Gamescom in Long Island.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:For your GameCon and the guy he gets like original games for Nintendo and Super Nintendo and the game has a twist on it. The original game Not bad. It's a yellow cover too. I game.
Speaker 2:Not bad. It's a yellow cover too. I've never seen that it's a yellow Super NES game. Well, this is a high score. I'm going to give this one All right. Now we're going to PlayStation 2. Soul Calibur 3. Classic, classic, classic. I got to ask. I thought you had to give me these. Are these all from GameCom? Are?
Speaker 1:these all from Game Com? No, they're all from Game Com. Oh, okay, this is from. I got this from Amazon, oh okay, the first three NES, socal, world 3 and the Super.
Speaker 2:NES SoCal is a classic.
Speaker 1:And the Super NES Super Mario World Return to Dinosaur Land. Okay, this you probably never heard of.
Speaker 2:Let me see what this one is Free Session. You're right, I never heard of Let me see what this one is.
Speaker 1:Free Sashay, you're right, I never heard of it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so basically it's a PS5 game too.
Speaker 1:Yeah, ps5 game. It's a game where you play as a rookie cop and a veteran helps you around New York City and you maneuver. I believe in the 70s.
Speaker 2:Oh, that's pretty cool. The 80s. Okay, that has potential. You played this Well this is a very good game. All right, we're looking at Donkey Kong Bonanza this one. I give this a 10 itself, but this will do an overall show. This is a good score, Mike You're doing good.
Speaker 1:A previous game I only didn't mention is the Precinct.
Speaker 2:The Precinct. I didn't mention it. Yeah, which one is this one he?
Speaker 1:got.
Speaker 2:Pocket Bravery. I don't know this one, actually it's actually an indie fighting game.
Speaker 1:Okay, I heard about it on Little Jesus Channel.
Speaker 2:Okay so.
Speaker 1:I finally got a chance to pick it up. Is it fun?
Speaker 2:It's fun you can get a chance to play it.
Speaker 1:We can play it.
Speaker 2:Okay.
Speaker 1:This game is talked about. Oh, you bought the.
Speaker 2:Expedition 33. I've been talking about this game to be one of the sleeper games and maybe potential Game of the Year nominee.
Speaker 1:Some people ask for $100-something bucks for that. For this game, $80, $100 bucks. Why I paid $49 for this? I?
Speaker 2:paid the original price. What's money for it? For your?
Speaker 1:computer's in high demand, plus you're physical.
Speaker 2:It's supposed to be a Game of the Year nominee.
Speaker 1:Super Space Marine, part 2.
Speaker 2:Oh, you did get this game. Okay. Super Space Marine, part 2. Nice, this is a good game as well. Ps5. Yes, and and what does he close it off with? Ah, Capcom Fighting 2 Collection. This is a dope one, yes.
Speaker 1:Tell people what games come on it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so it comes with Capcom versus SNK 1 and 2. It comes with Capcom Fighting SNK 1 and 2. Here comes Capcom Fighting Evolution.
Speaker 1:We got oh, mike, sorry people, we had some technical difficulties. The games will fall on the floor. Damn, they still got games falling on the floor.
Speaker 2:No, this is actually one of the buzzers.
Speaker 1:One of the buzzers.
Speaker 2:What's going on tonight? Y'all, I don't know what's going on tonight, but let me continue. So the next game I want to, regarding the Capcom Fight Collection 2. So we got both Capcom versus SNK, part one and two. We got Capcom Fight Evolution. We got the Street Fighter Alpha Power Stone, which is dope Power Stone 2.
Speaker 1:And 1. Yup, and you know what?
Speaker 2:asked for physical.
Speaker 1:They asked for like hundreds of ask for physical. They ask for like $100,000 for physical prior to this Wow. Thank God you got this, and also is it rival schools.
Speaker 2:Oh, yeah, we got Project Justice.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know what else they want for that Shh. I'm going to go for that Like $150, $200, if you get the original and you got it for the price of what?
Speaker 2:Here you got $40?. My friend.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so. Yeah. So, mr Mazin, what'd you get overall grade for Mike Sansa Pickup? This is a very good one.
Speaker 2:I'm going to give it a perfect score because you got exclusives in there. You got a mixture diversity in there. Mike, you got a perfect score for me on this one, that's what I'm talking about. You got a perfect score, but Mr Maz week is 2K26.
Speaker 1:Oh, starring Spike Lee, starring Spike Lee, you see collectibles. I see years of blood, sweat and tears. Yo, yo, we can talk. We can talk in this one. We can talk, you can talk in this one man Sneakers. A sneaker phone. I still don't think Angel Reese should be the cover female.
Speaker 2:She's a cover female right?
Speaker 1:Yeah, I don't think she should be. We'll argue it out now why not, she has more personality.
Speaker 2:Yeah, don't we? Same time. Okay, I'll make an argument with you later about that. Also, ac Reese, she should be. She has more personality. Yeah, same time. Okay, I'm gonna argue With you later about that.
Speaker 1:Also AC Reese. She should be, she should be the proper person.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:She's a better player. She's a better player. It's not always About the better player man. There ain't no more. Reese is not selling that. Who's more popular? Who's more popular?
Speaker 2:Popularity Right, it's her. No, it's not Okay, I'm going to go with you later. I wish I could bring my guy Gamer, because she would have a lot to say on this. Well, how's it more popular who's more popular.
Speaker 1:Who sells our arenas?
Speaker 2:Kaylee Clark. Overall game speaks more. Her popularity did help raise the women's WNBA and I'm going to give her credit and I'm not here to destroy it, because I think both players are amazing. But the reason why I think she's on the cover is because people relate to her more. She's more popular because she has podcast personality. Mike, answer this question to me. Who does a podcast? Huh, what's the name of a podcast? What's the name of her podcast? You said yes. I don't know what is it.
Speaker 2:I don't know, I don't know that's not that popular, but no, it's going. She has a lot of stars on there and then she's supported by one of the biggest people on there who speaks on her behalf all the time Shaquille O'Neal. But remember, she's more popular and when I say about, that is in the-.
Speaker 1:Who sell more jerseys?
Speaker 2:Kenny Clark probably does, but AJ Reese is not a slouch, she's right there. My thing to you is this Tim Duncan amazing player. He was going through that run when he won five championships in like eight years or whatever it was. He wasn't on covers of games, he wasn't on TV because he doesn't sell. And that's what AJ Reese is. I mean, that's what Kaden Clark is. Aj Reese don't sell. Aj Reese sells. Actually, I'm going to Google it while I'm thinking she sells. Kaylin Clark is not a seller, she's a Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan is not a seller.
Speaker 1:No, people didn't come to get to see Tim Duncan sell our arenas. Say that again. People are not selling our arenas for Tim Duncan. That's what I'm saying. Tim Duncan doesn't sell Kay and Carly. Sell arenas for Kay and Carly, yeah, move to bigger events.
Speaker 2:But despite that, she's not culturally popular. That's what I'm trying to tell you Culturally popular 2K is a culturally popular thing.
Speaker 1:And when I mean by culturally popular, it's like you're going to sell out, I don't disagree.
Speaker 2:You'll see more kids in the urban. We're doing urban here. I forget urban. I'm not going to see Caitlyn Clark, I think you would the top-selling jersey?
Speaker 1:Who do you think is the top-selling jersey?
Speaker 2:It probably is Caitlyn Clark. Let's Google it. Let's Google it.
Speaker 1:You're saying that? You just said her jersey sells more than Caitlyn Clark?
Speaker 2:No, no, no, I said she's more urban, popular, which one sells it might be Asia Wilson, and they put Asia Wilson on.
Speaker 1:I have no problem with that Cause she's a bonafide Superstar. She is better than Both of those females.
Speaker 2:So let's see, wow, okay, okay, guess what? She was number one, she was number two.
Speaker 1:One and two.
Speaker 2:Clark was number one. She's number two. So my thing is Reese is just as popular. That's like Jordan versus. I mean, that's like Magic and Larry Bird. This is what you're literally, this Magic and Larry Bird Flip-flop who you want.
Speaker 1:I'm not surprised, but who's?
Speaker 2:but I'm not surprised because you would think the next two should be AJ Reese, because AJ Reese is better playing than both of them. No I just AJ Wilson, aj Wilson keeps getting me sorry, aj Wilson yeah. Yeah, if you want to see the top five Kelly Clark, aj Reese, sabrina Anusa, new York Liberty baby Kate, martin Dolph from Vegas and AJ Wilson. Yeah, one of the top five jerseys.
Speaker 1:Which is expected, yeah, but this is 2024 numbers.
Speaker 2:Even with 2025 numbers, you can even do that. It'll probably still be Kay Clark, though, to be honest with you, Kay Clark is number one. Yeah, True, and actually Angel Reese bumped down, actually for 2025. Well, basically in mid-2025, though.
Speaker 1:Where's she at now?
Speaker 2:She has it's number one Kaylin Clark, followed by Paige Bunker Shout out to her Kate Martin and then Angel Reese is there Okay.
Speaker 1:But I still think it's more of a culture popularity, culture, popularity.
Speaker 2:What Culture popularity sells, though, michael?
Speaker 1:We're not talking about the urban. We're talking about the overall general public. Who buys this?
Speaker 2:But that's what I understand, what you're saying. Popularity-wise for the sport on itself, it is Kaitlyn Clark, but cultural popularity is Reese, because she sells herself. I love Tim Duncan, but she doesn't sell.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but okay, let me give you a scenario. Okay, Okay, so those three real sisters. Okay, anna Colo, what's the Russian girl?
Speaker 2:Yeah, anna Colo, she sells, but she was garbage. She sells, but she was garbage. Yeah, but she wasn't selling more than freaking Serena Williams. She was more.
Speaker 1:Serena Williams, but she was at that time. She was in more ads than both of those sisters put together. Yes, and more ads than both of those sisters put together. Yes, I agree with that.
Speaker 2:So you're looking at it overall, Michael, the number one seller at this junction you're going to see is Serena Woods, because she has the culture At the time at the time.
Speaker 1:It's the culture, because it's a factor. She's the culture. Don't talk about the urban culture. Don't talk about podcast.
Speaker 2:I don't watch the podcast, but I always see it. I always see the podcast. I don't follow, but I always see it.
Speaker 1:Aj Anderson followed AJ Reese. She loves Kay and Clark. She got giddy and she's not wrong.
Speaker 2:She's a female but she's not wrong to feel that way, but I'm talking about marketability. You're selling a game, kay and Clark's not wrong to feel that way, but I'm talking about marketability. Marketability you're selling a game. Clayton Clark's not the one to make you sell a game. Why it's Reese? Why, because of her marketability, mike. The same reason why Tim Duncan wasn't marketable.
Speaker 1:Let me ask you a question you think Cain Clark's making more money off her endorsements than Andy Reese?
Speaker 2:Endorsement-wise, i'm'm gonna say it's probably, it's probably a toss up.
Speaker 1:Actually, I think it's a toss up it went on too long this debate for that I told you you and mom got a game. I totally disagree, both of you guys you keep saying urban, no bro urban's the wrong one, you're right.
Speaker 2:marketability, that's the word I should be using. It's not urban marketability. Market wise, she's better. How Urban? No bro, no forget. Urban. Urban's the wrong one, you're right. Marketability, that's the word I should have been using. It's not Urban Marketability, because you have, because what? Market-wise she's better.
Speaker 1:How can she know what? For now, she fell off Because she was hurt. Oh, come on, she was hurt. You can be hurt and still sell jerseys hurt. Or Carmelo, your favorite dude, carmelo to hurt, you still buy, you still get. Yeah, of course I am.
Speaker 2:Put it this way, Mike. Put it this way you know I'm the biggest Patrick Ewing fan in the world. Yeah, but he's not marketable. He's not marketable In that era. I'm putting Jordan in front of him. I'm putting a young Shaq in front of him. I'm putting a Lazio in front of him. You wasn't marketable because he wasn't into that stuff.
Speaker 2:He wasn't that big I'm putting Larry Bird in front of him. He's not marketable, and that's my favorite player. My thing is if I'm a business person, I'm maddened. Who am I going to put on my covers?
Speaker 1:I can market. End of story. I'm right.
Speaker 2:And I think Caitlyn is dope. I do think she's going to be one of the top players when it's all said and done. I don't know if she's going to be one of the top players.
Speaker 1:when it's done, we'll see. We'll see what happens. All she is is Steph Curry.
Speaker 2:You can say that a lot of people think she's a Steph Curry and that's a great person to be that's why people love her so much.
Speaker 1:There's other females who will probably play better than who will probably play better than her in the past, but she's getting a lot of props because she has a Steph Curry stickball with her.
Speaker 2:Yeah well, and that's a great person to be compared to alright, mr Amazing, we went on too long with this topic.
Speaker 1:All right, it's supposed to be a trailer, but it went on too long.
Speaker 2:But the trailer was good, though you know what about Spike Lee?
Speaker 1:Oh, you didn't see the end when Spike Lee was told is it next year?
Speaker 2:You didn't see it. I didn't see that part.
Speaker 1:You didn't see that part you didn't see, let's see it.
Speaker 2:The spiking's very good. You know what I think? What I mean is it's kind of cool. Let's see Pre-order it this could be our year.
Speaker 1:Yeah, here you go. You know he's a Knicks fan, he's a big Knicks fan, so I'm not surprised.
Speaker 2:Hey, the spiking.
Speaker 1:I've been saying that for 47 years, man, yeah, so all a Shibuya Care topic of the week. A Shibuya Care topic of the week is, mr Amazing, yes, is the pricing of gaming out of control due to the recent pricing of the PlayStation 5 and the recent up pricing for Nintendo Switch, the OG one, and also with $80 Mario Kart game and with expected of Grand Theft Auto costing more than $70., and with Xbox rolling back $80 game for Outer Worlds 2. Also, borderlands 4 was rolling back. They're saying that the game would be $80, allegedly, but they rolled it back too.
Speaker 1:So even some games. If I went to the retro games, some of the games are like hold up. I bought this game and it's still worth $40 now. And the game's like 15 years old. So, mr Mason, what do you think about it? I mean, you said absolutely, you said absolutely, absolutely it is.
Speaker 2:but I also understand their position of the price hike. When it came to the tariff, those I understand. I can't be mad at Sony, xbox, nintendo for bumping the price of their consoles due to tariffs. That's a business decision. And then you can't ask somebody to eat a course or something that they didn't cause decision. And then you can't ask somebody to eat a course or something that they didn't cause. But I do have a problem with the same publishers who are making these $80 games. That's where I think the greed factors in the $80 games, the $100 games, potential $100 games those I have a problem with. But the one with the tariff price. I understand that.
Speaker 1:The only $80. Game so far is Mario Kart.
Speaker 2:It's Mario Kart. Yeah, and I do have an issue with that. I like Mario Kart, but I don't think Mario Kart is an $80 game.
Speaker 1:No, I don't think Mario Kart is an $80 game. I played it. It's not.
Speaker 2:And you open Pandora's box now because you go well, my game is 150 hours and you know, whatever I got, I'm nominated for Game of the Year, so I can sell this for $120, now, $110, whatever you want to put it at. That's where I have a problem with that, but price likes I understand, I hate it. I hate it. I hate it, but it's not their fault.
Speaker 1:I just think that the video game industry has overplayed. Need a freaking 100-hour, 80-hour game? I agree, we don't. I don't even have the time. A lot of people don't have the time for that. Yes, some young kids have the time for it blah, blah, blah. And they also don't have the income to buy it. When people get their first real job in college, they might want to spurt a little bit when buying a game. You know what I'm saying. So the game industry is cannibalizing itself. I think that they do need I mentioned this on an older podcast, they do need good AA games out there. There's nothing wrong with Spider-Man, your God of War, but you need your good AA games out there. Whether it's Claire, claire, claire, what was the name? Again, I bought the game. Claire, damn it.
Speaker 2:Oh God, claire 33 Edition, whatever it's called, yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so I bought that game. Yeah, so Even the Precinct which I bought that game was $30. Sold these mid-ticket. This is also rated very well. And the other game, the monkey game that you like, Wukong Wukong. That game cost $50, I believe $59.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think it was less. It might have been less for a number.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so yeah, even so, there's another game that's coming out for PlayStation, playstation. So it's like affordability because, like I said, people don't need to play 80 hour games and you don't need $300 million budget for these games. You know what I'm saying. If you split the budget $150 million, $150 million apiece, $150 million apiece you got two games for the time period. Gotcha. You know what I'm saying? Because when Uncharted Uncharted was in prime, yo, we got Uncharted game. Like three years later, you go, oh, no, no, uncharted game, you ready for it. It's fresh in your mind. Drake is fresh in your mind. You pumped up for it. You know what I'm saying. Now, you got to wait six years. You always say, oh, you got to wait.
Speaker 2:If it comes out now for this system, you got to wait until the next generation to Uncharted Thief came out what like 10 years ago, maybe what the Thieves, whatever from Uncharted Like 10 years ago, probably so Damn. That was a good game. I don't know when they made a part two to it.
Speaker 1:Remember, they made.
Speaker 2:What did they make? I don't remember anything after that.
Speaker 1:Yes, Remember after that they made the Girl with the Two Women.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the Thieves Un, that's something else forgot the name of it.
Speaker 1:I thought it was called Thief, something, yeah so, probably so, but I came up with it out of the top of my head. But, mr Maze, I just it's just overwhelming because, like I said, you overpriced yourself for your customer base. I agree with that. And also the also retro game system is out of control too. So, but, mr Maze, anything else you want to say? The also retro game system out of control too? So, but, mr May, anything else you want to say about this? No, I mean, like I said, I think we should care, I think we should care a lot, but like, I said because the thing is, you could be headed to a video game crash Because, like I said, it's a PlayStation.
Speaker 2:Pro called 750.
Speaker 1:PlayStation Pro called 750. What the hell does a 6 go cost? That's true, too scary. And with the terrorists and Nintendo thing about the Nintendo Switch, maybe we'll do it this holiday. See our best, happy new year. The Nintendo Switch is 550 bucks, nintendo Switch 2, I mean. So we're heading to dangerous territory in video game land yeah, I understand that.
Speaker 2:I can see what you're saying.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so Anything else you want to say. So we both care a lot about it, so we're not going to go further into it. All right, mr Amazing, what's the Gangster Wankster of the Week? Do you have one? Mr Amazing, are we going to shut the game with Traffic Show down? I don't have one.
Speaker 2:I don't have one this week unless you have one, but if not, I want to ask you a question. Ask me a question, Mr Amazing All right, because you mentioned that in the last topic. My question to you is how long should adventure games be? What do you think?
Speaker 1:You're talking about games in general, yeah, adventure games. It depends Let it make sense.
Speaker 2:Give me a good time. No, it has to make sense, okay it has to make sense.
Speaker 1:Okay, if you have a 60-hour game, it has to make sense.
Speaker 2:Okay, it has to make sense, makes sense, but what's a good time it?
Speaker 1:has to make sense. You can have a 60-hour game. You can have a 60-hour game, it makes sense. Okay, you know, it has to make sense. My thing is it has to make sense. You can have, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2:So a lot of the games. It's busy work, let's keep it 100, ryza and Ronan. That was long, the game was long, for no apparent reason, I forgot what the story was. I lost track of the story. I didn't know what the story, I didn't know what side.
Speaker 1:I didn't like the game.
Speaker 2:I don't know if you didn't like it, but I like it actually.
Speaker 1:Mr Mason, I lost track Me too.
Speaker 2:I can't front, mr.
Speaker 1:May had the freaking goal to say that game was better than looked, better than what Mr May's in.
Speaker 2:No, I said the fighting mechanics was better than.
Speaker 1:Ghost of.
Speaker 2:Tsushima Ghost of Tsushima's storyline is way better than it was way better. I don't know what the fighting is. I think the fighting that to their storyline.
Speaker 2:But, I think the fighting was better because, remember, the problem I had you had the manga game had, where we all played a game is we all had to learn how to fight, because we kept dying like crazy in the beginning, because it literally was a skill. So I thought that's what made it, because it goes to show, because you could jump right into it in this fight. This one was a skill, so that's why I thought the fighting on this one was a little bit better. But the game Gozo Shima overall the game was better, though Okay.
Speaker 1:I disagree. To a certain extent I disagree, Not necessarily I disagree. But I think that better like different gadget weapons. You say that. Yeah, but I like the fighting more man, because number one you can't, I like the fighting more.
Speaker 2:I thought it involved more brain because you had to use different weapons on different people. I mean, ghost of Tsushima had that too, but they emphasized there's more in this one. My guy was top tier. Michael's guys, all these fighting guys are never at the top tier. He goes, fights the big boss. What a half ass, half ass superhero. Yo, it's true, you did that. Go to Tsushima, you did the Rise and Roll. When you got to that part I was like why you only got three hearts, man.
Speaker 1:At that part, and I beat them, and I beat them. You had struggled, I still beat them. You were stuck at one part For like three months Not Go to Tsushima, not Go to Rise and Roll, not goes to SEMA, not goes to Ronda Rona. Yeah, I don't know why I got stuck in that part.
Speaker 2:That was weird, for like three months, I think, the game came back. Mike was still there. I was like what the hell Versus my guy? When I got there, I was throwing. I had 10 hearts, all the weapons, ka-ka-ka-ka, yeah.
Speaker 1:But hey, that's the fun, different play, style of play. I mean the sweet part for me as a young man was like 20, 30 hours.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I like that. I think that's fair because I get a kick and then I get that gratification that, oh yeah, I beat a game.
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, Because it shouldn't be like I said, I shouldn't be exhausted.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I have to beat the game like oh God, you know what problem I have now with games, yo, what Is that? Let's say, there's a part one or part two of a game. If I be part one, I just can't play part two. I'm like I'm mentally not ready to play that part two, especially if the game is long. I'm like no, I can't do it right now, it's too big for me. No, no, you can play. I can't play one big game Because, mom, because I can't jump from one big game to another big game, it depends. I can't, I just can't. I don't know why.
Speaker 2:I need a break for a bit. I need a break. Give me a bunch of sports games in between, and then I can jump into it again.
Speaker 1:Another big game, that's the thing I have now, so we don't have a Gangsta on Wangsta Week.
Speaker 2:So you want to shut the games with Tavish Hill? Any shout out of the week for us? Any shout outs? I don't have one man. I probably do have one. I just can't think of one, but I don't alright, mr Amazing. I guess we shutting down man.
Speaker 1:I guess. I guess the episode is a shut down episode for today. Oh no, we're not shutting down and getting a traffic show we can never do that.
Speaker 2:We can't deprive our fans let's get by it.
Speaker 1:Peoples alright peoples, we Trapper Show. We can't ever do that. We can't deprive our fans. Let's get back to Peoples All right, peoples, we out. This is the Game of Trapper Show. I'm Mike Sampson, this is Mr Amazing we out. Later, later, outro Music.
