Xbox Prices Up, Hopes Down for 2026. The Street fighter movie is going to suck and Mortal Kombat 2 movie will have a flawless victory.

SPEAKER_02:We're back. But today's Gamer Traffice Show, we're gonna focus on what, Mr. Mason? Well, the the Forgotten system, Xbox. Oh, yes, the Xbox, yo. Series X and S, Mr. Amazon. So, Mr. Mason, this is focused on the console, man. Alright. You know what I'm saying? So the console, there's two consoles out. For Xbox, Series X and S. Mr. Amazon. Is anybody buying the consoles? The last reported is sold probably over 33 million consoles. Wow. The current price for Series X is$650.
SPEAKER_01:Wait,$650 for the X?
SPEAKER_02:X? X? X Space Mod. Not the Super X with the black with the R. The one you got. Yes.
SPEAKER_01:So$650 for that. Yes.
SPEAKER_02:That two price hikes. That's crazy. That's why I can find it. Also, it's rumored, according to game leaks and rumors, that another price hike will happen again. When? Sometime this year, Mr. Makes. That's crazy.
SPEAKER_01:So what is it gonna be what, like$685?$700 for taxes? Probably$700. So if Xbox is. Series X. I'm gonna think it's this. If they if they don't want to be, they don't they don't want the sales then. How do they want to bring up their sales if they can't people can't afford it? I'm so confused. You know what? That's crazy to me.
SPEAKER_02:Do I imagine, yo, go get a Series S.
SPEAKER_01:That's what I would do.
SPEAKER_02:I have no problem with that.
SPEAKER_01:Series S. That was my plan, but then I mean I scrapped that now.
SPEAKER_02:But that's you guys are lower specs, Mr. Amazon, and no disk drive. Fine with me. I'm limited with the games I'm gonna play. And that goes for$479 on Amazon, Mr. Amazon.
SPEAKER_01:I think it's too high.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, that's too high.
SPEAKER_01:I think that's too high.
SPEAKER_02:But you know what? I should have got it was$299. But Ms. Mason, with the price tag, it'll probably be$500.
SPEAKER_01:Exactly. It's just crazy. And it makes no sense at that point to buy for that price. You might as well go. If you're gonna spend that kind of money, you might as well save up a little bit more and get the X.
SPEAKER_02:And Mr. Mason, the latest sale, measurements has reported. Sarconna has reported, well, it's from Sarcana. Let's just keep 100. Reported a 7% drop in Xbox hardware sales over the past year in the USA. 70%, Mr. Mason. That's big time, Mr. Amazon. And you don't stop there. We're going to the UK according to Game Biz. The Xbox sales were down 39% in the UK in 2025. Wow. Wow. If you compare the PlayStation 5, it went down 12% in the year 2020, in the year 2025, Mr. Amazon.
SPEAKER_01:I mean, you expect them to go down, but I feel like Xbox should be going up because their sales are just low. So that's not good for you. Your sales should be going up. You have to put yourself out there. But that's just my take.
SPEAKER_02:Mr. Amazing. It's we're in a different time, unfortunately, with terrorists and on the world economy. And the memory, the memory surge for AI taking up all the memory and other computer components. Yeah, price hikes will happen. But Mr. Amazon, they ain't selling no consoles. Let's keep 100.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, but that's that's the problem. My thing is I think you're at the point where you gotta eat it. I really think you do. Get at a loss and make it up on what you guys do best. Services. The game pass. Get get that's make your money there. I think that's how I look at it. Obviously, they're all doing well with the game pass. That's my point. Catch the consoles at a loss, make your money on the lot on the services.
SPEAKER_02:And also, Mr. Mason, key component is Yeah. Who else is getting their games?
SPEAKER_01:Oh, PlayStation's getting their games. I mean, Nintendo's gonna be gonna play.
SPEAKER_02:That'll be interesting. That is gonna be interesting. Well, Mr. Mason, some good news is go ahead. The Xbox Ally. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02:Mason, it quickly sold out in the winter. That's what's up. It makes sense. It's the holiday season.
SPEAKER_01:And the price was what was the price on that again? I don't remember.
SPEAKER_02:Uh$1,000 for the for the uh major one. Shout out to them if they get if they could sell at that price point. That's the high-end one. And also the low end one, I believe it's$4.99, Mr. Mason. And I'm guessing that's the one that priced sold the most. Probably so, Mr. Mason. So that's a good that's a good thing, you know, for Xbox. At least you might have some hope in the handheld field. We'll see. Uh, in 2026, Mr. Mason. Well, Mr. Mason, what do you think about console hopes for Xbox? For this generation? I think 2026, Mr. Mason.
SPEAKER_01:You're talking about the new generation.
SPEAKER_02:Okay, yes. 2026, Mr. Mason. This year.
SPEAKER_01:This year I'm saying, oh my god, I forgot. We are 2026. Sorry, y'all. It's a generation. It's been it's been all years, I've been on. Nah, but um the console hopes, I think it's I think you know, I state my opinion already. I think it's you gotta lower the price. So you are catching at a law.
SPEAKER_02:It's not gonna lower the price. Let's stop it. Stop it.
SPEAKER_01:Well, then you then you gotta explain what you said. It's 12% they lost last year. This year you're gonna lose 20%, and the year after that, 25%, and then you got your new console coming out. That's reality. That's reality.
SPEAKER_02:And with the Rams shortage is a new console call coming out of 2027.
SPEAKER_01:Good luck with that too. Because that's gonna be a short you unless something changes between now and then. 2027 is only a year from now. Well, it's probably like about the end of next year, so it's like really a year and a half from now. You know, those things talk about the end of the year. Look, I do think, you know, I feel I'm you know, it sucks because I'm always here making fun of Xbox, talking this and that. I actually think it's an amazing system. I think it's great. And then, you know, we haven't had Mom Got Game on the show in a long time, but you asked her what's your favorite console, she'll tell you the Xboxes. I think the Xbox fanboy. Yeah, no, she is. But the Xbox is is, you know, prior to me divulging in the PlayStation, I was big on Xbox. I I preferred the controller a lot over the PlayStation for many years. I'm kind of coming back to the PlayStation, but like right now, I'm being biased because I mostly play the Sony right now, so let me keep it real. Go ahead. So it's still a great system. It's an exterior great console, it's a very powerful console. Probably more powerful for the PlayStation, right?
SPEAKER_02:It's more powerful than PlayStation, but have you seen testing with um a lot of games, especially on digital founding? Sometimes it doesn't make a difference. Sometimes PlayStation comes ahead of the Xbox. Of course. Or they're dead even. You know, so like it's and we've seen this in history. Most powerful console does not win a console war.
SPEAKER_01:Shout to Nintendo, because they've done it a lot of times. Yeah. Well, yeah, I mean, I'm I'm not equitting it to powerful. I'm just acquitting it to like it's a great system, just in general. They have the I I feel like what hurts the S box is. Mr.
SPEAKER_02:Mason, let me back real quick. Neo Geo's a great powerful system. Nobody bought that crap from the street. No, but that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_01:I'm not justifying the the system the power system. I'm justifying that the fact that it's it's their lack of first-person games.
SPEAKER_02:And lack of marketing. Marketing's number one, too, actually. Let's just keep okay, okay. Mr. Mason, this guy, okay, the console. It okay, let's go, no, let's go to the game. There's nothing wrong with the console. Just keep it real. There's nothing wrong with the console. But let's go to games. And look, uh, I said before, it died when the man, David uh Diamattrus, said, go get a 360 and it works about TV TV. That's when that happened. It died when he did the connect. That's when it died. XY Brand went down the toilet. Okay. I mean, I don't know. And still have not recovered in the year 2025, going to the year 2026. Mr. Mason, let's go to the games. The heavy hitters, Mr. Mason. Well, they struck out with Hale in the beginning. Now it's better.
SPEAKER_01:It's better when it's a good one.
SPEAKER_02:Well, this year's coming out. It's got Forza Horizon set in Japan.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, well, what's Starfield? What's coming out in two weeks? In two weeks, Starfield what? Huh? Starfield what? No, no, it's coming out in two weeks, I said. What? In two weeks, we're gonna have the first for the new year, the developed direct, yeah, on January 22nd. Okay. So that's a positive. We're gonna get more insight apparently on Fable, Forza, uh, Horizon 6, and then I think they're gonna do, and what else? There's some other stuff too. I gotta I gotta look more into that, be honest with you. Oh, Best of Reincarnation.
SPEAKER_02:Beast of Reincarnation.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, excuse me. Yeah. So those are positives to look at.
SPEAKER_02:And also other game is coming out, Mr. Mason. Guess what E Day.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Did they give a date for that yet?
SPEAKER_02:They didn't give a date out. Mostly they don't come out this fall. Fall. Okay. So these are things we're all looking to be looking forward to. Another Call of Duty, which I mentioned in the last podcast. But that's because most of all have back-to-back. This is good. I'm not sure. No, no, no, no. Back-to-back call like Black Ops 7 and 6.
SPEAKER_01:I'm okay with that.
SPEAKER_02:And they'll have, let's say, alternate. They'll go back to alternating.
SPEAKER_01:Which is fine. I prefer that.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_01:I prefer that. I think it's better than then people can work on it. You can work on a craft card and feel rushed to bring out a game just to bring out a game. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:I know my last podcast we were talking, the last podcast we were talking about, they'll be doing a two-year two-year turnover. Which really, it really means that there won't be Black Ops 7-8 coming back to back. It'd be more like Call of Duty than Black Ops.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. I mean, of all the games, well, the three games that we, the major three games we know that's coming out for the, they're going to feature at the Direct, the Villed Up Direct. Which one are you looking forward most to for Xbox?
SPEAKER_02:Direct? Yeah, for the score in two weeks. Give it to you. I'm on Gears of Wells. Because these are all gonna be all in-depth. But I want to see uh Gears of War E Day.
SPEAKER_01:Well, they're not gonna show that in-depth. That's not true. That's gonna be a teaser.
SPEAKER_02:That's the game I'm looking forward to.
SPEAKER_01:Uh I mean well, you that is definitely one I'm looking forward to, but the one I'm looking for at this direct right now is gonna be Fable. Because I feel that's gonna be the game that's gonna carry the system until like the well, first of all, they haven't said what Fable's releasing yet. But I think if they're smart, and I hope so, Fable comes out spring, summer. You think you think there's a window for that?
SPEAKER_02:Maybe September.
SPEAKER_01:I think September's too far. You need you need a b- you need a hitter right now. Well, they have Halo coming out. Campaign Evolve. Is that non-Halo? I feel like you need a non-Halo.
SPEAKER_02:Well, Halo's a big friend, it's a big fragment.
SPEAKER_01:It is, but I feel like you need a non-Halo. I feel like you need a game like Fable. I think Fable's the game that comes out. It could capture a lot of people. That's their Zelda. That's their Mario, that's their Sonic. That's you know, that that's that's theirs. So that should be good too. But we'll see though. I think Fable. My I'm my I'm more hype for Fable. Four is the Horizon 6 is a very good game, too. Let's not sleep on that. I feel like that, be honest with you, has been better than Grand Turismo, though, lately. So that's just my opinion. A lot of people might not like it, but I've I've I've picked I'll pick 4 over Grand Turismo.
SPEAKER_02:That's kind of hard. Like I said, Grand Turismo is a very good game. No, I'm not gonna give it every year. So it's a comparison, it's kind of hard to do. I think Grand Tur I think Grand Turismo is the best driving simulation on a PlayStation. And I think um the mindset Horizon is overtook in Grand Turismo, if you're not PlayStation 5, uh PlayStation, uh I like to say a lot, I won't say fanboy, a PlayStation owner.
SPEAKER_01:I agree I agree with you.
SPEAKER_02:You know, so it's kind of weird. But I do think that uh, like I said, I didn't pay Horizon in a while. I bought the Horizon that came on PlayStation, but I bought it for the Xbox instead. Um, because it's cheaper. Why said I pay? It's like 20 bucks for it. And I do have, I did, I did play, I got the wheel. Yeah, we haven't tried that yet, though. I tried it, it's pretty good. You tried it? What did you play? I played Grand Grant Turismo. Oh, yeah. I'm trying to buy F125 before I get on sale. Okay.
SPEAKER_01:But we know we have you and I both haven't mentioned this, but Beast of Reincarnation looks crazy good to me.
SPEAKER_02:I don't even remember it. It put it induced the last year. I don't remember it. That game looks crazy. I don't remember it.
SPEAKER_01:Oh man, yeah. When you when you see it again, you're like, Yeah, yeah. The Japanese um like I don't know, it's like samurai taking over things. Like it was like it looked like robots, it's a lot going on with it, but it looks good. Let me show you. I'll show you a quick trailer. I think I think a lot of people, you know, we haven't seen it so long. But I think people forget this is gonna be a good game. This this is something we look forward to look to. So we'll see how that goes. We'll see more in depth in a couple of weeks. See how that goes. But Bright, outside of those three that we mentioned, is there any games that might be important, like you know, from other kinds, you know, old games that we might look forward to? Isn't Xbox celebrating a milestone also?
SPEAKER_02:I was 30 years of Xbox or 25?
SPEAKER_01:25, I think.
SPEAKER_02:25.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, so you we should expect some something.
SPEAKER_02:What 25-year console that's gonna cost something?
SPEAKER_01:Uh 1500? Yeah, you don't think definitely gonna do the old school, maybe like how Sony did with the original. Whew. I could just imagine what that's gonna cost. Because the Sony one was what? Almost north of a it was almost a thousand, right? The for the pro. The pro. The pro. So that's gonna be around there. Well, definitely gonna be around there.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, people, people were uh the scalpers got to it too. Yeah, so we'll see. We'll see. I mean, I think like I said, um they do have games. But also do have games, but what the problem is, it's going to other systems as well. Hey, that's what that's what they want it. If they're not coming up day one, they're coming a couple months later. So it makes no sense to either get an Xbox series, S or X, if you already got a PlayStation 5. Like I said in the last podcast, what happens? If you got a PlayStation 5, you know, the first couple years when it came out, by year five or four, the console will down. Hey, you know what? I have an Xbox already. Let me get a PlayStation Five. Or vice versa. You know what I'm saying? But now see the prices are hyped up for both systems. A lot of people are not gonna take that leap and spend an extra uh extra dough and buy another console. I agree with you. Also, that's a major thing. But Mr. Amazon. Yes, sir. Since he got the playground, anything else you want to say about that? No, I said my piece. So, Mr. Amazon. Yes. Early. Oh, go ahead. We care about Xbox in 2026. Oh, definitely, absolutely. We said this before, Mr. Mason. Absolutely. I was saying it when you a couple years ago. We said big time big stuff coming out.
SPEAKER_01:I had that. I said that when um Star, what was that game came to the space game? What was it called again? Well, it's coming out, Star Film. I said that was like this is gonna be it. I do remember saying that. I said that with Halo.
SPEAKER_02:We said all the every time we try to be an Xbox believer.
SPEAKER_01:Oh no. Sadly, the only reason I I I am still optimistic because I I want to see what the director's gonna show. So that's why I still have a little bit of optimism. But the only thing that's holding me back is the price point. Because, you know, at that price point, it becomes real, you think really are yo, do my kids gotta go to college? Or can I get this game? Nah, I'm not not that extreme, but I'm just saying, like, it it does make you think more. What you wanna do?
SPEAKER_02:I still I think people should care about Xbox. But let me say, well, like we always say, should we care a little, a lot, or not at all, regarding Xbox?
SPEAKER_01:I'm gonna say I'm gonna care. I'm just I'm I'm in the middle. I'm not gonna say a lot, I'm in the middle.
SPEAKER_02:I'm well, a little, a lot, or not at all. A little. So basically a little. I do, I guess a little. My thing with Xbox, as far as my concern uh with Xbox, my thing is the games, they have to come out games, but the games are coming out from this other system like PlayStation and Nintendo. But and also, and my concern I said before on earlier podcasts, you can't have all these studios. Now the Xbox, Microsoft's having layoffs. And you know what, Mr. Mason? And not only in Microsoft, the the core uh computer systems, uh what was uh uh lack of a better word, the the core business, but the Xbox was I called a side check, they're having layoffs too. But Microsoft said in that as those ridiculous rumors, but they will have layoffs. This is what you always have all these gaming companies, and I did say that when Xbox will buy all these companies, it's kind of hard to manage all these gaming studios and and be and be productive.
SPEAKER_01:Agreed.
SPEAKER_02:And they cancel several games already. Remember uh, what's that uh uh Perfect Dark Perfect Dark Dark that canceled Perfect Dark. Several other games they cancel. It's amazing. That's what happened when people say your eyes too big for your stomach. Yeah. That's what Xbox did. Yeah, no, exactly. I mean Do I do I care a little, a lot, not at all? Only reason I care a little about Xbox because it's competition with Sony. Agree.
SPEAKER_01:I agree with that actually. But we'll see, man.
SPEAKER_02:Like when you're Because when you have competition, it breeds creativity.
SPEAKER_01:Of course. And and that's what we want as fans. It's good for us as fans. Yeah. So uh So we'll see. Let's just get these numbers up, Xbox, man. That 30 per 30 to 34 uh market sell of your console you have going on right now. At least get that up to 45%. What do you mean 45? I don't understand that. Uh the market, like the console war, like the market that they could they control about 30% of the market only. So if you want to keep it real, it's like it's almost 70%. I mean, like you broke it down before we begin the show to do the show because you broke it down. They've moved, Xbox moved between 30 to 34 million units, PlayStation between the 80 to 86, and Nintendo was at Switch 2 was at 12.4, but remember they're the newer console. So it's not good when Nintendo is almost half your sales and only less than a year. Yeah, it's almost half your sales in less than a year. So, yeah. So at that point, the market share for uh Xbox is about 30%. I mean a little of the 30%. So at least get to the 40s. Get the 40s, and I've gets like mid 40s, and I and I consider respectable.
SPEAKER_02:All right, but anybody looking for the Xbox Direct is coming June 22nd. I mean January. January 22nd. Yeah. Yeah. So then my knocking, like I said, I still have faith. Right, yeah, I'm glad you have faith. Holding on faith, y'all. All right, Mr. Mason. Guess what? We're going to the Street Fighter trailer. All right, buddy. Let's do this. It's amazing. We talked about the we talked about the character Street Fighter and we talked about the odds of going against the Mortal Kombat movie. What do you think of the trailer?
SPEAKER_01:It was short. There's not much you get out of it. But I do think it looks way better than the Street Fighter.
SPEAKER_02:So what's amazing? Hold up. That we saw before. You think that's better?
SPEAKER_01:Than the first Street Fighter? No, no, I can't say that. I think it's better than the first Street Fighter. I think it is.
SPEAKER_02:Who's playing? You saw who plays in Bison?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I did. I did. Delic, that's somebody you're scared of? No, but remember, M. Bison is like. M. Bison's not even the strongest character in Street Fighter. No, stop, stop, stop. He's not. Mr. Mason. He has a powerful. He's like, listen with me. He think of M. Bison like you think of Professor X. He doesn't look strong. He's not, he's not the best, but he's powerful. Mr.
SPEAKER_02:Mason. That's the guy look at the biggest thing. That guy looks like you scared of Mr. Mr.
SPEAKER_01:That guy, I look scared. Once he puts out his goddamn move, yeah, you better be scared. Mr. Mason.

SPEAKER_01:I'm okay with the trailer. I didn't have an issue with the trailer, to be honest with you. I didn't have issues with the trailer. I thought I was okay.

SPEAKER_02:What character did you like? Nobody. Raoul looks good. Kent looks good. A Bos uh Chung Lee, yeah. But A Boss, uh.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, Chung Lee looks actually very good too, actually. 50 Cent Brock from I feel like Jonathan Major should have been Bar Rock, to be honest with you. Bar Rock, come on. I I I that's the only one I would be like, uh maybe I'll I'll love to grow 50 Cent in the character, but I definitely think Jonathan Major should have been the Bar Rock personally.
SPEAKER_02:So you green light this trailer? I am. I am light it, yellow light. I'm gonna green light it. I'm gonna green light it. I read like this. Go watch it when you get home. Don't watch it in the movie theaters.
SPEAKER_01:Mike is mad because what's his name? David uh Desta Malanci? I can't pronounce his name. Who the hell is that? Bison. That guy, he looks like crap. Yo. Don't sleep on him. Once that makeup comes on, yo. Ain't no saying it.
SPEAKER_02:No way. Alright? Casting was horrible. I don't agree with that. It's horrible. It looked like a side joke. It's the movie's a side joke. We should laugh at it. We'll see. We'll see. SPEAKER_01:I I I I I think we're sleeping on it because I feel like Is it better than a Mortal Kombat?
SPEAKER_02:I think Is it better than the Mortal Kombat trailer?
SPEAKER_01:Mortal Kombat Trailer wasn't bad at all. It's pretty good. I think I think it's on par. I think Street Fighter is on par with you. I think they're about even because the Street Fighter was so short, I can't, I can't make that judgment. But this is what I'll say. I think this time around, this go round, they said, you know what, hell with that. We focus too much on trying to get the perfect character for the to play the players look alike. Let's get the let's let's focus more on the actual development of the character for the movie. I think that's what they focus on. That's why you might, the guys don't look exactly alike. I think the the characters that are playing the the actors that are playing the characters are gonna portray them. Like when you when you see them in character mode, you'll be like, oh damn, he did kill that bison roll. I think versus where the old street fighter, I think he got plays the look, I think they just wear it look alike. So then they're just like, oh fan damn, he can do a split. Okay, make him do this. You know, that's that's what I feel, but we'll see.
SPEAKER_02:I have no idea. I stopped paying attention. I stopped paying attention.
SPEAKER_01:We'll see. I I I'm gonna rock with it. I'm gonna I'm I'm gonna say I'm I'm gonna green light it. We'll get more troll out. We'll see. And this is when is this coming up? Do we have do we have a release date yet? What do you what's your window you think?
SPEAKER_02:Uh it's up to me 2020, never.
SPEAKER_01:Well, I'm gonna be realistic. I'm gonna say this is a summer, no, no, not even summer. I'll say it's like a May, a May release, May June release.
SPEAKER_02:Mortal Kombat's calling May.
