Hi everyone! Salut à tous! Welcome back to the French Made Easy podcast! This is episode #45, numéro 45, and today we're learning some prepositions of place! So you'll learn how to say in, behind under, etc. Obviously, there are many more prepositions of place, but in this lesson, you’ll learn the basic ones.
As usual, make sure you download your lesson's cheat sheet; it's free! After the lesson, head over to the French Made Easy Library, where you can download your lesson exercises. It's also free!
Great, so let's get started with today’s lesson.
So to explain the prepositions of place, I'm going to use the example of an apple (une pomme 🍎) and a box (une boîte 📦.) And we're basically going to answer the question: “Where is the apple?" (Où est la pomme?)
So, if you look at the cheat sheet, it’s going to be so much easier so you can visualize where the apple is compared to the box.
Alright, so our first preposition of place is:
"La pomme est dans la boîte." (The apple is in the box.)
"La pomme est devant la boîte." (The apple is in front of the box.)
"La pomme est derrière la boîte." (The apple is behind the box.)
"La pomme est sur la boîte." (The apple is on top of the box.)
"La pomme est sous la boîte." (The apple is under the box.")
"La pomme est à côté de la boîte." (The apple is next to the box.)
"La pomme est entre les boîtes." (The apple is between the boxes.)
"La pomme est à droite de la boîte." (The apple is to the right of the box.)
"La pomme est à gauche de la boîte." (The apple is to the left of the box.)
Alright, that's it, guys!
