Bonjour à tous, hello everyone. Welcome back to another episode of the French Made Easy podcast. This is episode number 158, numero 158. So today we’ll be reading another little French story, obviously with comprehension questions, so we can practice our overall understanding of French. Today's theme for the story is 'Halloween’ of course.

Alright let me explain how it’s going to work for those who are new here. And if you’re not new, and you’ve listened to a story on the podcast before, you already know how it works, so you can just skip this part and go straight to the start of the story. You should see the chapter markets on your podcast platform.

So, I will read a mini story, in French, that I've divided into 5 parts. After each part, there are comprehension questions to test your understanding of the story. I will not read the questions on the podcast, to try to keep everything short and sweet, but you can get those questions, with their answers, directly on my website inside a PDF document called the Story Kit. The link is in the episode notes, on your podcast platform, and it’s free.

This comprehension story is, as per everything I publish on the podcast, for beginners, and you’ll find a transcript, translations of the story in English, comprehension questions for each part, and answers to those questions directly on my website. This will be helpful for you if you want to cross-check your understanding or clarify certain points of the story.

Now, I encourage you to listen to the story first, a few times if you need to, then try to answer the comprehension questions, before checking the translations, and before checking the answers to those questions. Now it might be a little challenging, depending on your beginner level, but I can really this type of exercise will help you improve your overall understanding of French.

I will read each part of the story slowly, much slower than I'd usually speak in French, but if it's still not slow enough for you, you can actually choose the speed on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and I'm pretty sure you can do it on other podcast platforms as well, so you can just slow it down if you need.

Élise et La Quête d'Halloween 🧙‍♀️✨

💌 Chapitre 1: L'invitation

Dans un petit village en France, Élise, une sorcière, regarde les feuilles d'automne tomber. Pendant qu'elle boit son chocolat chaud, une chouette arrive avec une lettre. C'est une invitation pour le bal d'Halloween du village ! Élise est très impatiente d’y aller. Mais, oh non ! Son chapeau magique n'est pas là. Où est-il ?

🌟 Chapitre 2: La recherche commence

Dans le village, il y a une belle place avec une fontaine. Élise commence sa recherche ici. Elle demande aux gens s'ils ont vu son chapeau. Personne ne l'a vu. Pendant qu'elle marche, elle voit Minette, le chat noir, jouer près d'une vieille maison. "Minette," demande Élise, "as-tu vu mon chapeau magique ?" Minette miaule et pointe avec sa patte vers la grande maison hantée du village. Élise frissonne un peu, mais elle est déterminée à retrouver son chapeau.

👻 Chapitre 3: La maison hantée

La grande maison hantée a de grandes portes en bois et de vieilles fenêtres. Les arbres autour de la maison sont silencieux. Élise prend une grande respiration et frappe à la porte. Après un moment, la porte s'ouvre lentement. C'est Monsieur Fantôme, un gentil fantôme qui habite la maison. "Bonjour, Élise," dit-il avec un sourire. "Que cherches-tu ?" "J'ai perdu mon chapeau magique," répond Élise. "Minette m'a dit qu'il pourrait être ici." Monsieur Fantôme réfléchit. "Hmm… je n'ai pas vu ton chapeau, mais viens, cherchons-le ensemble," propose-t-il.

🎃 Chapitre 4: Le champ de citrouilles

Ensemble, Élise et Monsieur Fantôme marchent vers le champ de citrouilles derrière la maison hantée. Il y a des citrouilles partout, certaines grandes, certaines petites, et certaines avec des visages sculptés. Ils cherchent partout, soulevant chaque citrouille. Soudain, Élise voit une citrouille qui brille légèrement. Elle s'approche et découvre son chapeau caché à l'intérieur ! "J'ai trouvé mon chapeau !", s'exclame-t-elle avec joie. Monsieur Fantôme rit doucement. "Ah, c'était une bonne cachette !", dit-il. "Maintenant, tu es toute prête pour le bal !"

🌙 Chapitre 5: Le bal d'Halloween

La nuit est tombée, et le village est illuminé par des citrouilles-lanternes. Des rires et de la musique se font entendre au loin. Élise, avec son chapeau magique sur la tête, se dirige vers la place du village où le bal a lieu. Le bal est merveilleux ! Il y a des sorcières, des fantômes, et d'autres créatures magiques en train de danser et de s'amuser. Élise danse avec ses amis et goûte une délicieuse tarte à la citrouille. Tandis que la soirée se termine, Élise pense à sa journée. Elle est reconnaissante pour ses nouveaux amis et pour l'aventure d’Halloween qu'elle a vécue aujourd'hui. Avec un sourire, elle pense déjà au bal de l'année prochaine.
