Dan Schacher
Daniel Schacher serves as the Northern Region Maintenance & Operations Manager for the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF). Overseeing a vast region of more than 370,000 square miles, he manages the daily functions of highways and rural airports. With a career spanning nearly three decades at the Department, Daniel has assumed multiple instrumental roles.
From 2017 to 2024, Daniel held the position of Chair for the American Public Works Association (APWA) Winter Maintenance Committee. He is currently the program coordinator for the Winter Maintenance Supervisor and Operator Certificate programs.
Recognized as an authority in snow and ice management, Daniel has been a speaker at conferences throughout North America and the UK. He has had articles featured in publications including "Road & Bridges" and the "APWA Reporter".
