Jake Sorber
Jake Sorber is a research project engineer at the Insurance Institute for Home Safety (IIHS), where he supports research focused on understanding and reducing weather-related risks to the built environment. His work integrates meteorological science with engineering principles to help improve the resilience of homes and communities exposed to severe weather.
Jake earned a master’s degree in Meteorological Science from The Pennsylvania State University, where he developed expertise in atmospheric processes, severe weather, and data analysis. His graduate training emphasized applying scientific research to real-world challenges, equipping him to translate complex weather data into practical insights.
He is driven by a commitment to public safety and advancing data-driven solutions that strengthen the performance of homes under extreme weather conditions.
