
Nick Bassill
Director of the NY State Weather Risk Communication Center, University at Albany, SUNY
Nick Bassill received a PhD in Atmospheric Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison before coming to UAlbany over a decade ago to join the newly-created NYS Mesonet program. In this role, Nick began working closely with New York stakeholders to identify ways weather data could be beneficial to them. After a series of projects with state agencies, authorities, and utilities, Nick advocated for the creation of the NY State Weather Risk Communication Center. This newly formed state-funded entity is located at UAlbany, and is tasked with assisting with the state's public-sector weather needs. Nick currently serves as director.
