Ep 017: SAC Rachel Williamson - Royal Air Force Veteran
Oct 10, 2021
Gavin Watson

Rachel joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 2007 and served for 10 1/2 years as a Medic.

In this episode she talks about life growing up as a swimmer (with a dream to become an Olympian), joining the military as a Physical Training Instructor (PTI) before changing trade to a Medic, and becoming part of the RAF rugby team.

Rachel also shares about an injury that stopped her from serving, but took her on a path to the Invictus Games in Sydney 2018, where she swam for her country taking home medals in the process. She also found a skill for indoor rowing, where she took Gold for Team UK. Rachel became the first female team captain for Team UK at the Invictus Games in The Hague 2020. These games have been postponed until 2022.
