11 Hip Hop Lit with Jesse Gardener
Jul 28, 2020

I'm stoked to share this episode with y'all. We recorded this back in May of 2020 while quarantined. We chat about Jesse's origins as a hip hop artist and an educator.  He is Jesse the Imaginer of Soul Plug Anonymous and an educator at Madison High School.  Hip Hop Lit is a class he developed and is now teaching:

"Hip Hop Lit is a program at Madison High School in Portland, Oregon that seeks to awaken genius and enhance community through Hip Hop culture and expression.  ‘Knowledge of self’ is a pillar of the class that studies literature, promotes critical thinking skills and provides opportunities for students to write, record and perform their music.  Current students have formed a Hip Hop group called The Remarks, who you can follow on IG @the.remarks"    -   Jesse

20% of proceeds from Ungrieved vinyl sales will go towards helping fund the creative arts in education through Hip Hop Lit at Madison High School.
