The King Maker Program: A pep talk for the parents of young adults
A podcast for parents who know their young adult was made for more — and want the mindset, strategy, and confidence to help them get there.
The King Maker Pep Talk is where parents of young adults come to regroup, reset, and get real direction.
If your son or daughter is drifting, stuck, underperforming, unmotivated, or capable of far more than they’re showing… this is your space.
Created by Richard Jones, RN — the mind behind Parenting Your Child in Recovery and the King Maker Program — this podcast offers short, powerful sessions designed to help you:
• Understand what today’s young adults are REALLY up against
• Shift from worry and frustration to structure and strategy
• Learn the “parent side” of building agency, direction, and accountability
• Support your young adult without arguing, rescuing, or controlling
• Use the principles of the King Maker Program to strengthen influence at home
• Become the steady voice that helps them move from potential to purpose
Every episode is a pep talk — direct, honest, and grounded in decades of real-world experience with young adults in crisis, transition, and transformation.
This is not another “parenting tips” podcast.
This is where parents become king makers:
Adults who know how to guide, support, and encourage young men and women into confidence, leadership, and a future they can own.
If you’ve ever said to yourself,
“I know my child can do more — I just don’t know how to reach them,”
you’re in the right place.
Welcome to The King Maker Pep Talk —
where hope becomes strategy,
and strategy becomes transformation.

Working Without a Mission is Hard Work
When the mission is unclear, the work is that much harder. To use a football analogy, Our current system wants to teach our young adults how to do a great endzone dance and spike the ball, but we don't want to teach the basics of blocking and tackling.
Blocking is recognizing and blocking out distractions. Blocking out those who have doubtful words and actions against Your child's recovery efforts.
Tackling involves aggressively taking actions that change habits, which in turn change outcomes.
It's all about coming together as a team and knowing what your true vision of a championship is.
Raising a young adult in today’s world is no small task — and sometimes, it feels like the stakes couldn’t be higher. The King Maker Podcast is your dose of encouragement, perspective, and practical wisdom. Each episode is a pep talk for the heart and the head — combining insight from Richard Jones, RN, creator of the King Maker Program,
