Today starts a two-part series on Addiction, OCD, and PTSD as Will and Anton are joined by Chris Mayo(Athens, GA)LCSW. In part 1, we discuss addiction as COVID-19 appearing to be increasing the cases of addiction to drugs and alcohol. We also discuss how can we help our friends who are quarantined and whose anxiety has increased since the epidemic started. Chris also shares his local chemical recovery(CR) fellowship, Water to Wine and how they have come together to help the community in this time of crisis.

Chris currently holds licensure in the state of Georgia as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. After finishing his degree, he began working as a counselor with the Georgia Department of Justice, providing evidence based mental health and substance abuse counseling for detained youth and adults. He also worked as an independent contractor providing psychotherapy and substance abuse treatment in outpatient and residential settings, school systems, and foster homes. He has been providing clinical services to children and adults for over 12 years.
Chris has a particular interest in working with individuals dealing with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and other anxiety-related impairments. He uses evidence-based treatments in his practice, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing for individuals, groups and families.
Chris is a professional member of the International Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation (IOCDF) and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA). He actively participates in nationally recognized training focused on Anxiety and OCD related disorders to ensure he provides the most effective treatment for his clients.
