Speaker 1:

Welcome to your go-to source for entertainment. Wait for it.

Speaker 2:

Gaming. Wait for it Anime PLUS ULTRA.

Speaker 1:

Mr Eric Almighty and Phil the Filipino. Yeah, they've got you covered, and all you gotta do is wait for it.

Speaker 2:

This is the Wait For it Podcast. Hey, everyone, welcome back to the Wait For it Podcast. I am your co-host, phil Barrera, aka Phil the Filipino.

Speaker 1:

And I'm your other co-host, mr Eric Almighty, and we're going back to the glory days where me and Phil would just talk about what happened in the world of entertainment on this edition of what Did I Miss, covering July of 2025.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no guests here this month. We had a couple of things planned and you know what Life happens and things fall apart, but we should be running it back in the month of August. We are, we are manifesting that that is going to happen. So a whole lot happened here in the month of July. If you've never listened to an episode of what Did I Miss, it is our monthly bonus episode where we go over any pop culture news that you may just have missed out on. You know there's a whole lot going on in the pop culture world and we are here to recap basically everything that we possibly can, and I'm going to have a lot of fun doing so. It's a very just kind of casual fun episode, and that's what's going to happen here today. Uh, and Eric, I think, said that we are going to go back to doing this weekly, so he's very excited, uh about that, isn't that correct?

Speaker 1:

But the format of this episode? The format of this episode will again stay super casual. In fact, we're going to do it even more casual. No wheel today. Wow, that should let you know that we're serious. So you got to come back. The Akira, the Akira meat, ah.

Speaker 2:

No wheel, no wheel, or I'm going to do the Henry Cavill.

Speaker 1:

Ah, no wheel, no wheel, or I'm going to do the Henry Cavill, that grotesque scream man, shout out to the episode we're doing next after this, which is covering man of Steel from the perspective of Phil, who's only seen James Gunn's Superman in comparison.

Speaker 2:

So that's a great. Give me a little tease and a bonus.

Speaker 1:

I almost forgot, but we are now going to just shift our topics into more of just a back and forth between me and Phil, just talking about everything that happened this month, and we have a lot. A lot of these stories have come from our Discord. We're under Pop Culture News. We have friends of the show talk about things that happened throughout the month, we go through a discourse about it and we talk about it, and that's really what we're going to be doing here in that same vein, just verbally to each other for the first time, outside of what's been discussed in that discord. So, phil, I think we are in a great place to get started. We're going to streamline the episode to get you all of the content that you missed, all of the news that you missed in the month of July, and if you want to get started first, phil, you got your pick of the litter here. It was quite a bit of stuff that happened as far as the news we missed.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I do want to shout out Aaron, who joined us last month. I do apologize. There are no cryptid or alien stories this month, so we will have you cover that whenever you return in the future, the first story I'll have. This is one of the ones where, if we were when, I thought we were still going to do the original.

Speaker 2:

You know the original way this episode goes, because Kevin Feige stated that Kang wasn't enough, as Marvel was already planning Robert Downey Jr as a Doctor, doom pivot before Jonathan Major's departure, and he was just essentially like, without referencing majors by name, he said that the actor's departure had not been the sole catalyst for the series creative changes. Instead, conversations had already begun to bring back robert downey jr. Um, then, you know, we quote, we had started even before that had happened to the actor. Uh, we had started to realize that kang wasn't big enough, wasn't thanos? No shit man. You had him lose to ant-man's daughter in his first appearance. Like we, we know, bro, we, we, we know Of all the people there were to choose from and the fact that they also showed that every Kang looked like Jonathan Majors. No shit man, yeah.

Speaker 1:

No, I mean, why not talk about Marvel, with Fantastic Four coming out this month? And you know the success of Thunderbolts or at least critical success maybe not box office success of Thunderbolts. You know the MCU is in talks more in these circles more than ever before. I just got to say we don't care anymore, we just want to move forward. I think everyone is very patiently waiting for Doomsday, for that, to set up Secret Wars and whatever else they're going to be doing in this phase. It's hard not to look back and just see all of the missteps to this point, and I think that is what really has stopped me from diving into that content. Like I didn't watch ironheart, I just kind of caught up on the cliff notes of it, right, like we talked about why, why is that getting its own series? And, uh, you know some people liked it, but I don't know. It just didn't seem like a priority. We kind of need to get back into the groove of things.

Speaker 1:

I think they tried to do that and maybe to some success. Did that with fantastic four, which is going to be my story I'm going to kind of throw in here, since we're talking Marvel. The Fantastic Four had a pretty decent box office appearance. They made just over a hundred million dollars on their debut and, phil, I'm very curious what this might mean, because some people see it as like a moderate reception. But also it seemed like Superman in you know, a couple of weekends from its release has eaten into that demographic a little bit. Have you kind of kept up with it at all? Because it feels like even if people like the movie, which it seems like most people have, I, I think the numbers have to start showing up for Marvel, otherwise they're going to hit the panic button again and then we're all're all fucked yeah, I can tell you that the discourse on marvel twitter has been fairly positive, I think, in terms of the, the new version of these characters that we got.

Speaker 2:

We of course have the, the ridiculous attempted smear campaign of pager pescal, which is just crazy. A bunch of people that have no time on their hands, probably the same people that want the Cyniverse restored. But anyway, between all of that, the reception has been relatively positive, I think, with now just something new, like with James Gunn's Superman being received so well and it being a fresh take on. Uh, you know what we had as far as all these dark superhero films. You know it's been a relatively good year for all these movies, but, um, it really felt like this year.

Speaker 2:

Fantastic four, like you said, thunderbolts has been a critical success for sure. You know what happened with captain america is is what it is. I think that film was doomed from the start, unfortunately, but between Fantastic Four and also the Thunderbolts and then, if you want to group Superman back in there as well, just as superhero movies in general, it really does feel like it's a get ready for what's going to happen with Doomsday, because I just have no faith whatsoever in that film, but at the same time, I did see a tweet. It was like all it's's gonna take is we're gonna see deadpool and wolverine standing next to shang chi and the fantastic four. We're gonna be like we're so back, baby, that's all it's gonna take.

Speaker 1:

And we're gonna be like let's buy our tickets yeah and uh and that 118 million dollar uh opening, so just over 100 a million. I think I said uh is just domestic, so there's another 100 million. I think I said uh is just domestic, so there's another 100 million internationally. But you know, superman's still holding strong out there. I think that this movie, even if it is being received very well again, needs to really perform much better than uh it is, even though that's I mean, that's not a small amount of money to scoff at by any means. But, yeah, marvel wise, I don't think there's too too much that we needed to cover. There's a lot in film and entertainment, though, that we could jump into. So, phil, is there anything on that end you want to jump into or anything Marvel related you still wanted to touch on.

Speaker 2:

No, that's enough of that, let's move on. Touch on no, that's enough of that, let's move on. But let's do a really easy transition. As we talk about, uh, papa pedro pascal, because naughty dogs chief, uh neil druckman, is going to be stepping away from the hbo's last of us ahead of season three to focus on game development. They do have a game, of course, coming out within the next couple of years um, the, the space game. I can't remember the name of it right now off the top of my head, but he did release a statement here online. I'll just read like a little bit of it.

Speaker 2:

I've made it the difficult decision to step away from my creative involvement in the Last of Us on HBO. With work completed on season two and before any meaningful work starts in season three, now is the right time for me to transition my complete focus to Naughty Dog and its future projects. Intergalactic is the name of the game. So if you guys did not see our stream for the as far as season two of the Last of Us, shout out to our buddy Jay from Super Bracket Bros. They're right in the middle of an incredible season. So make sure you catch up with Super Bracket Bros, but a lot of you may not have checked out our Twitch stream.

Speaker 2:

When we talked about the Last of Us, season two, we were not fans. No, not a lot of people were not fans. It seems as if Craig Mazin has a actual hatred for Ellie and, for whatever reason, has pivoted to Dina. So, um, I think this is probably only a matter of time type of thing, but it, uh, we already didn't have a lot of faith in in, you know, after season two and you know, with with Neil stepping away, it certainly doesn't help that. So, yeah, we'll see.

Speaker 1:

We will see. I mean, it's going to just come down to the fact that this is Craig Mazin's baby. Maybe he learns. Now I don't. I don't know, it's not a great sign. It's just not a great sign in any way, shape or form. But maybe, you know, instead of that adaptation, we can enjoy the Assassin's Creed live-action adaptation that is happening over at Netflix, Phil, according to Variety. Are you looking forward to that?

Speaker 2:

No, no, not at all. Can you as the anime, as the anime head between the two of us? So I mean, one piece has been received, well, but then there was, you know, cowboy bebop, which was, was mixed and then, of course, got canceled. So like, where are we at, where anime fans at with this, as far as? Because it seems like this is just, this is just an inevitability, it's going to happen. Of course. We had back in the day, you know, we had the death note one a couple years ago. So like, how are anime fans feeling about this? Because what really it to me makes anime special is animation so like what are you talking about?

Speaker 1:

solo leveling?

Speaker 2:

oh, you know what I looked at solo leveling. Sorry, I looked at here on the list. I totally forgot we're talking about assassin's creed, sorry well, they also are doing they are doing a solo live action, anyway, backing it up, I think my brain was like no, don't talk about it.

Speaker 1:

I was like what do you mean by that? What do you mean?

Speaker 2:

by that. Yeah, assassin's Creed no, I don't want that. We talked way too much about the live actions. When we had Andrew on a couple months ago, I didn't even beat Assassin's Creed, whatever it's called. I was trying to look around and see if I had the game in here, but I didn't even. I didn't even do that. And Assassin's Creed as a franchise is just floundering. Ubisoft is trying to grab onto whatever they can as they continue to tumble and maybe a really good casting could help.

Speaker 1:

But you know, I don't have any interest, I think. I think with assassin's creed and solo leveling although different genres, obviously you've got your live action, anime adaptation, live action video game adaptation I do think that these are two surefire opportunities to just be really fucking cool, like if that's the primary, especially with solo leveling. Like the whole point of that show is aura. If you could just lock down the aura, part of it, it kind of feeds itself and its fandom. With Assassin's Creed, I think you know, just, let let's start off with a bang. Start off with a bang. You can work on the lore, which is complicated. You can work on the stories and political intrigue and all the stuff going on and the religious undertones. Figure that out later. Don't even bring up the fucking apple in the first season.

Speaker 2:

Just bring it forefront. It's going to be the first thing we see. It's going to fade in from black and the first thing we see is this apple and it's gonna be these two really bright, glowing characters. Remember when mr burns was on drugs and in the simpsons and he he's like traveling through the, through the uh, through the forest.

Speaker 1:

That's what it's gonna be, and they're gonna be holding the apple of eden and yeah no that's how it's gonna start that, that's not great um yeah, sure, um, I know we don't really care very much about this, but they did cast the Zelda and Link for the live action Legend of Zelda movie that's going to be coming out in 2027. Very curious how Nintendo's foray into live action is going to go, from what I could tell two relatively unknown actors and actresses here. So I'm hoping that it is good and that it can catch my attention. But I mean, I know we're not big fans of that franchise. So anything that you want to pivot to we're well into. I think most of this month in our circle fell under movies, tv and entertainment in general. So like anything you want to dive into next, next, now that we've gotten, away from assassin's creed and solo leveling yeah, I jumped the gun on solo leveling.

Speaker 2:

It's my fault. Yeah, uh, good luck to those kids for sure. Uh, hopefully that'll turn out well, they have. There was also I didn't post it in here but there is a rumor that they had also filed a trademark for a donkey kong film. So they're going all in man. I think that could definitely work very well, based on how Mario went. I know, obviously Pokemon is Game Freak, but you know, those things do work and there's a story here that, as we barrel towards the inevitable Devil Wears Prada late to the party for Eric, they did add Lucy Liu, justin Theroux, bj Novak and Pauline Chalamet. Chalamet, there's more. There's another one, there's more Chalamets. No To the cast of Devil Wears Prada 2. Lucy Liu is going to eat up in this movie, dude. I cannot wait, but that's obviously something I'm very excited about. Eric, I know obviously you have not seen the Devil Wears Prada yet, but a lot of they're already filming it right now. I saw people like standing outside of a New York City building just to get a glimpse of Anne Hathaway.

Speaker 1:

So are you actually like, excited, like did the movie leave off in a place? Because I will be watching it very soon, for late, to the parties, for our audience to know.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Like are you actually like yeah, sequel makes sense, or are you like hesitant?

Speaker 2:

I'm a little hesitant because it doesn't really make sense Like it's a story that's just very well set on where it is. It has its very specific lesson that it teaches, and I would be okay A lot of people would have been okay with where it left off, but with the entire cast returning, like you know, come on, we're going to be there.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, yeah, that's fair. Now why don't we talk about a film that we have both seen and a franchise that is also doing very, very well Neja and we saw Neja 2 in theaters this year. We saw it in its original form, I believe, is Mandarin as far as the language, and it came out in that adaptation no English dub to go with it. It has now been announced that an English version of the film is coming to theaters this summer from A24 and CMC Pictures, which is a crazy thing to hear. Two things stand out. One, it's coming out very soon, I actually think either in the month of August or September. Correct me if I'm wrong there, but Michelle Yeoh is going to be playing the mom and replacing, I guess, the original voice actress. I don't know how I feel about that. If you have seen the trailer, it's a little jarring. But, phil, are you actually going to go out of your way to see this, because you already know me and my family have been waiting for this to do so?

Speaker 2:

me and my family have been waiting for this to do so. I don't know, because I didn't. I started like watch bits and pieces of the first nasia in in the dub and I didn't really enjoy it. Uh, you know, obviously alex lee is incredibly talented. We just talked about soul love it so leveling. So I don't know, I think maybe I'll probably go see it just to support a foreign film. So maybe I'll go, like I'll come with you guys, but there's nobody else in my life other than you that has seen the other two. Moved on, you know the two movies. So yeah, and then Michelle Yeoh. That just seems like a a little bit of like a hey, michelle Yeoh's in this. You know, like maybe come, come, check it out and they'll try to build up the first one again as if that movie needed to make more money for a cultural impact.

Speaker 1:

I guess we'll hear. Nobody talks about it.

Speaker 2:

We don't even hear about it at conventions. We don't see art, we don't see cosplay, we don't see anything like that, which is crazy. So I think people just don't know how accessible it is, but maybe this will help.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, what is this movie sitting at right now? I actually got to see because it's like top 10.

Speaker 2:

As far as money-wise.

Speaker 1:

Box office yeah. Movies of all time yeah, let me see what we got here and I can trim it down. Yeah, so Nayshawn 2 is currently sitting, according to Wikipedia because that's the fastest thing I could find is sitting at number five underneath Avatar, avengers, endgame, avatar, way of Water, titanic, and it's sitting at $2.2 billion. So I would assume that an English release is going to just help that right.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, for sure, yeah and again. I would love to see and hear more people talk about it, like we are in so many nerdy circles.

Speaker 2:

no one has ever discussed nasia with us and we have people that are very much in the know, like ivan, like cory, in terms of like what is going on worldwide, especially animation. They've never mentioned asia to us, ever. So we're on the forefront here for once, eric, we're ahead of the curve, us and 20 billion other people that don't live in the states exactly, yeah, no, I mean, that's that.

Speaker 1:

That is what it is. Um oh man anasia.

Speaker 2:

anasia, screening at uh sunray studio would hit so hard right now man it would, it would, it would, especially if it was around.

Speaker 1:

you know when they do this live action sequel to Lilo and Stitch, which Chris Sanders is returning to do, so I mean, maybe that's the sequel we should be talking about.

Speaker 2:

You didn't have to do that.

Speaker 1:

I thought it was a good transition, no, no. What was to do that? I thought it was a good transition, no, no. What was the story that Briar gave us About?

Speaker 2:

what Lilo and Stitch did.

Speaker 1:

About Lilo and Stitch. Didn't he give us like a whole plot based off of Lilo and Stitch? He did, yeah, he did give us.

Speaker 2:

I think it was like that Lilo was had gotten kidnapped.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I got it. So our friend Briar a friend of the show, said Lilo. Lilo, a now rebellious teen, and her vicious pet Stitch have to search for her sister, now a marine biologist, after she went missing exploring the marine.

Speaker 2:

Mariana Trench. Mariana Trench, he left an A out, okay.

Speaker 1:

I was like that doesn't make sense, the mariana trench. So, uh, yeah, I I would. I would fuck with that. Speaking of that, this might, this might be interesting. I saw that bambi the reckoning came out recently, or like just now people are saying good things people are saying good things and I'm scared I might have to watch it.

Speaker 2:

I don't like that and then that means you're gonna have to dive into the entire Punaverse, that's what I'm saying. You can't just watch Bambi and not watch the rest of the Punaverse God. I'm going to use so much Punaverse stuff for your birthday in September.

Speaker 1:

That's why I am Please don't, please don't, yeah, but that's why I'm very, very scared. But, phil, we're still kind of in the entertainment circle right now movies, tv, so anything else you want. What do you want to dive to next? What do you want to jump to next?

Speaker 2:

Something we are super excited about, because I don't think we really knew when it was going to happen and then they just like dropped it out of nowhere. That Hasbin Hotel will be returning on October 29th right in time for Halloween. I believe. They confirmed it at San Diego. Comic-con and follow boys Patrick stump will be has been cast in the role of Abel, which is, of course, the son of Alex Brightman's Adam, so cannot wait for that show to return in. Eric I believe hell of a boss is going to be joining it on amazon now, so you don't have to watch it on youtube. So that has always also been in our queue for the longest time, so I think they're both returning right around the same time as well. But has been hotel man, uh, what definitely. Um, like I said, we were waiting on it for a while, so super excited for it to come back and new songs. I cannot wait to see and hear what they have cooked up.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I do believe they're all. They're also going to do some type of crossover at some point. So I think it's just inevitable that we're going to have to watch Hell of a Boss and do it for late to the party. But you know, that's a ways away, just like the Odyssey is in a year in advance.

Speaker 1:

Tickets have gone on sale and, from what I could tell because I tried to look sold out of IMAX seating for 70 millimeter, which is not something you can get just anywhere. You can't see that type of format in just any city or state or even around the world. So there's only so many theaters that have that capability. Some of these places are just built. These buildings are just built to support this type of theater experience.

Speaker 1:

I don't think you were going to get those tickets, phil, but I thought that was a thing to mention here. And then I'll also tie in the fact that another film that I've had my eye on, that we've talked about a lot in addition to the Odyssey, is so different. That we've talked about a lot in addition to the Odyssey is so different, but the Infinity Castle movie, part one, for Demon Slayer, has made box office records in Japan, breaking those records to become the fastest film to reach 10 billion yen. Achieving that milestone in just eight days, which I'm hoping, means that my prediction that all three movies will make over a billion is going to come to fruition. We will see, but yeah, those are the two that I definitely wanted to hit on as far as movie news that I've been paying close attention to.

Speaker 2:

Hey, man, if there is any franchise that could do it, I do think it is Demon Slayer, in terms of just crossover appeal for a lot of people like that's their only anime and for them to be releasing this incredible epic in theaters about the Odyssey. But yeah, I know we will be seated every time that first time you see that little clip, that little teaser, you're like my body is ready, man, I cannot wait for that to return. So obviously a lot of optimism there. Unfortunately, there is not optimism about the late show being canceled with Stephen Colbert. Now, what I'll say before I get into this story is obviously there are things at play that are out of our normal scope, things that you can, you know much more educated people that I have discussed, because there's a lot of things behind the scenes going into this. It's just a bummer.

Speaker 2:

Stephen Colbert has been a staple in terms of late-night television, dating all the way back to the daily show and then obviously, the colbert report and that amazing character, which that's a whole thing too. He doesn't even have access to that character anymore because comedy central technically owns it. Um, but yeah, this is a huge bummer. I obviously he's going to land on his feet. It's going to be great. It's been really cool seeing um kimmel and um um seth myers and, of course, fallon. Even Fallon yeah, it's nice to see his other late-night hosts standing there in unity with him, but it's setting a dangerous precedent. But also, again, stephen Colbert. I'm just very excited to see what is next for him. But yeah, that was obviously very shocking to see 100% for him.

Speaker 1:

So, um, but yeah, that was obviously very shocking to see 100, and I mean maybe equally shocking because, again, we're not the biggest late night fans. So I mean, the news isn't is only so sad. I do think it is probably a dying medium, but I also.

Speaker 2:

It is interesting that that is. It has stood the test of time and it's it's crazy to think. Are there still people that stay up? It's got to be like boomers that are staying up late to watch.

Speaker 1:

It's got to be. I mean, when's the last time you watched it live? You're just watching YouTube clips, like I am. Yeah, we're just watching the YouTube clip or the replay yeah, so, the fact that they're all still around is pretty crazy. I mean Conan saw that ship ahead of time and was like not again.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, because Conan is like 10 steps ahead of everybody. So who knows, maybe Colbert will end up on HBO like John Oliver. That would be awesome. So John Oliver, that is something I do watch.

Speaker 1:

Maybe not live, but I do watch it.

Speaker 2:

Like I'll watch that on like a Monday, you know. So maybe that's the next thing for him. I think he could do very well in that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, probably.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, definitely Crazy news.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and Phil, I don't know if you posted this story, but you know other crazy news that kind of happened was about the story with Matthew Lawrence from Mrs Doubtfire wanting to use AI to resurrect the voice of the late Robin Williams. I don't remember if you posted this, but did you have any thoughts on that?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I hate it, Obviously in the medium that we are in and the fact that we spent so much time around creatives like voice actors and actors and things like that. I think it's very disrespectful and I would hope that the family wouldn't ever agree to that, but it is also part of this is the world that we live in and eventually there is going to be some sort of celebrity. I hope it's not Robin Williams, but there will be a celebrity that's no longer with us that has that will pop up in terms of AI Hell, it may have already happened and just somebody we don't care about, you know. So, yeah, it is unfortunately an inevitability, but yeah, I hope it does not happen.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, no, I can. I can definitely understand that. And, um, I think, with what we have left, phil, I'll just take the next two and then, if you want to wrap it up with some of the tragedies and maybe not so tragedies that happened this month, oh no, oh no. Yeah, you can have that one. We'll just quickly jump into the gaming sphere.

Speaker 1:

Splitgate 2 just recently announced that it is jumping back into early access and it's going back to beta. I should say uh, because it launched too early. And helldivers 2, finally. God, this took so long to do. Uh, maybe a little too late to the party, but helldivers 2 is coming to xbox series x and s in a shocking announcement that sees sony publish a game on a rival console. So we've seen it happen the other way. Now, here we are, finally Hell Divers. Congratulations. I know you needed that reinforcement. Probably a year ago. I wish I could join you. I just I don't have anybody to play with, really, and it's already been too far gone, unfortunately. Splitgate 2, wanted to give it a try, but the more I saw of it I was like maybe not, and then I just kind of stayed in that limbo until it tucked its tail and ran back home. So, phil, any thoughts on Splitgate 2 or Helldivers 2?

Speaker 2:

Whenever we first got into Splitgate so this was like in the middle of our Fortnite heyday. At no point were we ever like I wish this was like when, like in the middle of our fortnight heyday. At no point were we ever like I wish this was a battle royale. I wish I wish this was more like fortnight. No, we played it because it was totally different from everything else that we had tried out. And, of course, unfortunately with most games, you know, people just got too good and, honestly, for the get good crowd, we're a little bit too old to really dedicate time to getting really good at split gate. But it has such a cool premise but and as we mentioned with some of the people we were talking to in our discord, like those early days of the first split gate, it felt like original halo and then added this cool mechanic and I've never seen anything like this, like a game going back into beta. I can't imagine, like, what kind of fan base that this has. Who even knows what the player count looks like. But yeah, the sun has set on Splitgate. That is a portal that should stay closed. Helldivers 2. Yeah, like you said, it's unfortunate it didn't happen a year, year and a half ago whenever it originally came out. But it's cool that we are seeing more and more console cohesiveness in 2025, as well as then adding on the PC players. So it's great, you know. So, hopefully, people, you know, at least hopefully I got a little bit of a boost there but really cool that we're seeing more and more games crossover. Of course we're getting Gears of War here very shortly on the PlayStation side of things.

Speaker 2:

One last thing as far as the, I'll mention two more entertainment things here, eric, that I think you may have missed. There is an animated starfire show coming to hbo max that's being produced by dc. I think that's going to be really cool. People love that character, and for good reason. And the other thing that came out today it's like pop culture adjacent is the wyatt six from the wwe. Of course, bray wyatt's, um Wyatt's run by in Bray Wyatt's honor, of course, started with with Bray. They are getting a Halloween Horror Nights house Now. Myself I probably won't ever attend Halloween Horror Nights, not my type of thing, but we'll definitely be on the lookout for some really cool merchandise, like Briar got me a couple of years ago for the Last of Us. So yeah, eric, you know the Starfire thing's cool, but yeah, what do you think about a Wyatt 6 WWE themed Halloween Horror Nights house? This is a passion project as well, for the person and the people that are involved.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean for the Starfire show. I think that's interesting. We talked about a spoiler for the man of Steel episode. We talked about how one of my favorite things about DC when I was younger was obviously the animated stuff Teen Titans right, like everybody loves Teen Titans, so I don't know how much they're going to lean into that, but I would love to see some type of lean into that because people love it. As far as the Wyatt six, I don't know how much people really love that, so I don't know how many wrestling fans are going to be going to that, but it's a cool concept. I was already looking at Halloween Horror Nights this year because of all the Five Nights at Freddy's stuff and how much in this household Five Nights at Freddy's is brought up. So I have definitely been keeping my eye on it and seeing that news was definitely an extra wrinkle I wasn't expecting.

Speaker 2:

I would say that, since Halloween Horror Nights, of course it's in LA as well, but since it's in Orlando and it's a, it's a wrestling hub essentially, I think they're you know, they'll probably get a lot of locals come out. They'll be excited for that for sure. But let's move on to our last bit of news here before we wrap up. July was a sad month for for for some some passings. I want to I'll mention a couple here. There was a Bethesda Game Studios, julian Le Fay, who was a very key driving force in the creation of the Elder Scrolls. He passed away so wanted to make sure we paid our respects to them.

Speaker 2:

Chuck Mangione, who was a famous jazz musician and I knew him because he was always in King of the Hill, so a lot of people may recognize that name as somebody that they were familiar with because of that show. Malcolm Jamal Warner, who of course was Theo Huxtable in the Cosby Show. We obviously saw him quite a bit in the Community Show and from everything that we have heard about just spending time with him, him he was one of the one of the purest souls that we, uh, that we had. It was very tragic passing very young. Ozzy osbourne, of course, the rock star front man for black sabbath uh passed away. Uh, a guy who I watched as someone who doesn't watch, uh, reality television. Um, the the ozzy, like the the Ozzy Osbourne show and the family has definitely provided a lot of laughs. So sending a bunch of love out to them and then, piece of shit, hulk Hogan's looking up at us right now. So at least you know to end on a positive note. So that's what happened.

Speaker 1:

Whoa, whoa. You can't say that that he's a real american fights for the right of every man. What do you mean? Asterisk, yeah yeah, but you know, most of those sad yeah, hard to defend that. It's like whoa, that's what he's like. Are you? Are you insinuating that he is looking?

Speaker 2:

hulk hogan blocked me on twitter too. Hulk hogan blocked me on twitter as well, back in like two. Yeah, no, that'd be crazy. No, I it was. It's honestly one of my proudest blocks.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, yeah, that's understandable, all right. Well, that's a crazy way to end the the recap for July, but here we are. If Hulk Hogan meant to uh a lot to you, uh, sorry, not sorry. Um, he, he did, um, he did, uh, he did do a lot for wrestling and I will acknowledge that. That's at least a thing, I guess.

Speaker 2:

How about we end on this positive note? Uh, k-pop. Demon Hunters is the highest. It's the highest streaming animated movie of all time on Netflix and they're coming for number one. So they are keeping it up and they are doing a great job.

Speaker 1:

Hell, yeah, love to hear it. And, uh, we hope you loved hearing this very abbreviated episode of what Did I Miss, where we just kind of ran down some of the stories. Phil, when it's just you and me, it's a little bit easier, but we go through them very quickly. I still love being able to really dive into some of these topics, get the opinions of guests, and we'll continue to do that, but there may be an episode here or there that turn out like this and, phil, I think this was a success all things considered. We will not be going back to weekly, though, so that's just not in the cards. I'm sorry. Hmm, no, what do you?

Speaker 1:

mean no, it's your favorite thing to do.

Speaker 2:

I'll never give you guys a little bit of wait for it, Laura, before we get out of here. I remember when we were about to record An episode of what Did I Miss the look of defeat in Eric's face. He was like Do you want to do this man? It was a true Jesus moment.

Speaker 1:

I just had a moment where I was like, are we enjoying this? But at that point I mean again, retrospect is always important, important in moments like this. So it's like we, we did sit there and also record two episodes a week.

Speaker 2:

You know the meme of the Popeye's employees standing outside with a cigarette, like with their hands on her waist, like that was us again.

Speaker 1:

If we had, if we had this type of schedule back, then maybe it would have stayed and it wouldn't have been so tiresome. But yeah, I mean we were doing solo episodes, two episodes a week, throwing in what did I miss every week there, so it was just too much. Then we did it biweekly and we were like, well, this just isn't working either. So I think we've got the right formula here and, yeah, again, just having this abbreviated option, I think, worked out really well. Essentially a very long Discord roundup, but I think it was effective considering everything that happened in the month of July, which, although that was a lot story-wise, pretty tame, I think pretty attainable as far as what we needed to cover.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, for sure. So if you want to keep up with some of those stories, like Eric mentioned, you know you can join our discord community and, Eric, I will give you some grace here. We are under 40 minutes, so look at that. You, you broke the curse. Uh, that you will. That is true, yeah, that is true, you, you just if you want to speak like flashing flash flash under your dash from Zootopia.

Speaker 1:

If you're saying shit like that to prolong it. That's what I'm saying. I'm just going to make this longer.

Speaker 2:

I know Well, what else can I talk about? No, we are. We're wrapping up here, so if you want to keep up with everything, wait for it.
