#012 3 Ways to Include Students in the IEP Process

Welcome back to the Sped Prep Academy Podcast.

Transition IEPs are great for students who are in middle school and high school and need that support to transition into life as an adult with a disability...but what about the littles?

Why can't they be a part of the process as well?

In this episode of the Sped Prep Academy, I go over 3 EASY ways to include students, no matter their age or cognitive level, how to have an active role in their own IEP.

It’s important that students of all ages and ability levels have input into their IEP. We should be asking them about their favorite subjects in school and finding out what makes them feel successful in these areas. We need to find out what they like and dislike about school so that we can improve their educational experience. By making them a part of the process we are teaching them how to self advocate for themselves at an early age.
