Speaker 1:

How we doing baseball fans. Anybody looking for a shortstop? They all got picked in the first round of the Major League Draft. No surprise since Little League the best athletes are always shortstop and when they're not playing short, they're on the mound throwing strikes. The first 10 players to be drafted were either pitchers or shortstops, and six out of 10 are high school players, and two of them are from Corona High School out of California. What an honor for that program. The number one draft pick is a kid named Eli Willis out of Oklahoma. The Nationals are taking a chance on the high school shortstop At 17,. He's the youngest player to ever be drafted first. Good luck, kid. Can't wait to see you play. Lsu Tiger.

Speaker 1:

Cade Anderson went number three to the Mariners and Liam Doyle went number five to the Cardinals. You know those two arms got a short path to the show. The Miami Marners got them a hell of a player in shortstop Avia Arquette from Oregon State. You know that boy could play ball. My guy, jamie Arnold, went 11th overall to the Athletics. He's also going to have a short path to the show and he'll get there just in time for the new stadium to open up in Las Vegas. There's going to be a lot of hype around the new team. Yes, you're going to put on a show. The stadium's probably going to be spectacular. I think it's a great fit and a good place for him to start his career.

Speaker 1:

I mentioned the Marlins earlier and listen, if you don't know it already, I have a complicated relationship with the Marlins, as many baseball fans in South Florida do. But here's the thing they might as well have slid into my DMs yesterday because they went and picked Max Williams. That's my boy from FSU. He's an intense, big play kind of guy that every team needs one or two of. And listen, miami, you can hurt me, but don't hurt Max. You hear me, don't hurt Max. It's complicated man. All right, that got a little bit intense. Let's change gears.

Speaker 1:

It's officially the All-Star break and that means tonight is the home run derby. Now. I told you the other day that I was going to pull for Kyle Riley as long as it wasn't a Yankee in the mix. Well, jazz Chisholm threw his name in the hat, so I'm pulling for Jazz. You know he's a showman, so I expect him to do well. But I think this is Kyle Riley's year that he becomes a household name, and what better way to do that than to win the Home Run Derby? But keep an eye on Byron Buxton. He's coming off a hot weekend where he hit for the cycle On this and it is Byron Buxton bobblehead day. Talk about having yourself a day. Let's go, byron.

Speaker 1:

The all-star game is Tuesday night and the starting pitches have been announced. Detroit's Tarek Scobo is going up against the Pirates Paul Skeens. I don't know how competitive the game's going to be, but it's always fun to see the best players from Major League Baseball all on the field at the same time. So grab you some peanuts and Cracker Jacks. Let's watch the game together. Let's go baseball.
