S.18 E.17 – Devin Shidaker of The Acacia Strain

We caught up with guitarist Devin Shidaker of The Acacia Strain back in October to talk about the band’s crushing thirteenth album, You Are Safe From God Here, out now via Rise Records. Joining the band later in its timeline, Devin reflected on carving out his own path within The Acacia Strain, the chemistry he’s built with frontman Vincent Bennett over the years, and the lasting influence of artists like the late Ozzy Osbourne. We also touched on his love for horror films and how that atmosphere bleeds into the band’s sound. The new record sees The Acacia Strain fusing sludge, doom, and death metal while still preserving the raw, unhinged aggression rooted in hardcore punk.
