Hachodesh
Mar 20, 2020 Season 1 Episode 1

Congregation B'nai Jeshurun (CBJ) of Staten Island VP of Ritual and DH (Designated Haftorah reader) Roy Moskowitz chants the Haftorah or reading from the prophets for Parsha Hachodesh.  The Sabbath on or preceding the Hebrew month of Nissan, which is also the month containing Passover, is called Shabbat Hachodesh or the Month.

The Haftorah is Ezekiel 45:16-46:18 and discusses Temple sacrifices.  Following his Haftorah and accompanying blessing chanting, Moskowitz then reads the English translation from the Etz Chaim (Tree of Life) Chomish or Bible.  He makes plenty of mistakes as he does most Saturday and Jewish Holiday morning services.  Moskowitz says leaving them in gives the listener a more authentic experience since there are no do overs during normal services.
