Genesis 21 God's Faithfulness

Bruce Hays Season 20 Episode 16

Have you ever had "one of those days?"  One of those days where you wonder why you got out of bed?

Well, in Genesis 21 Abraham was having "one of those days."  To be more precise, it was probably "one of those years."   No matter how good life seemed to be working out for him, his past indiscretions kept popping up to taunt him.

He is not sooner celebrating at the birth and weaning of his son Isaac, when his wife Sarah comes to him and demands that he "cast out" his other son Ishmael and his mother.  He no sooner has taken care of that problem, when Abimilech shows up as a reminder of his old sin.

But, the truth we can gain from this chapter is this; regardless of how we fail, God remains faithful.  God fulfilled his promises to Abraham despite some pretty blaring character flaws.  And God will hold to His promises to us, even when our lives say that we don't deserve it.
