Hi, I'm Stevie Lee, former defensive tackle for the University of Texas, and I'm Clyde Hargrove. I'm a roofer. I also saw action in 52 games and I fixed a lot of roofs. I also won a Rose Bowl and never lost to A&M and I fixed a lot of roofs. Right, stevie, oh right. Speaker 3Vince Young scores Stevie Lee man. That really puts the age on us, you and I, everybody who follows Texas Longhorn football, former players like yourself. January 4th. That date will forever be remembered as the national championship of the 2005 season 04, well, excuse me, january 4th 06, the national championship BCS title game against USC. That was the year after your last year. I mean January 4th. Does it still resonate with you every year since then?
Speaker 2Kind of, but it's also January 1st for me, january 1st for me, january 1st 2005,.
Speaker 3this year marked 20 years that I last put my pads on. Wow, oh my God.
Speaker 2Yeah, this was 20 years ago. This first was when I hung them up and when my wife stopped cheering at the University of Texas, that was our last game. I said 20 years, man, that is crazy. I have an 18-year-old kid now.
Speaker 3You guys didn't waste any time.
Speaker 2No, we didn't 19 years ago.
Speaker 3This past Saturday, it was the anniversary of that Rose Bowl BCS title game. We could not have this episode without a clip of Vince Young's run that really clenched its hands. Wow, incredible night. I remember it like it was a couple of hours ago, but, man, big time. And now the current Longhorns have an opportunity. They're two wins. One went away from playing in the national championship game. Again, I am Sean clinch, the host of stories inside the man cave and the co-host of the past rush with Stevie Lee. Now I want to point out something that maybe may give you the, so to speak. But check out, stevie, he's got pink, I've got a sty and it's we're twins. He's got pink, I've got a sty and we're twins. I don't think he's contagious. This sty looks better than it did yesterday. Oh wow, new Year's Day is when it started.
Speaker 2Yeah, and today I woke up with this one on me. So it's been a rough last couple of days for me. I was getting over the flu and the cold and or the cold and um, and then all of a sudden I wake up with this. It's just a brutal start to the year, man hey, I feel for you, brother.
Speaker 3It's not fun I, I do warm cold presses, got the uh, the medicated eye drops the advil I'm just trying in the shower with baby shampoo.
Speaker 3On new year's day I was with the lovely trish and I said, man, something, my eye and it was during the the peach bowl. I said, man, it feels awkward. And lo and behold, woke up on january 2nd and, uh, that it was in full blast. So we're on day three of it, but I think it's improving. But hey, before we get going, we're going to dive into the CFP Final Four. We've got another big game coming up and it's back in Texas. But before we do that, we have to give a shout-out to our Hargrove family, who really makes these series of episodes possible. But with Stevie Lee.

Speaker 3And you will, even if you have a sty or a pinka Stevie. This week's going to be really exciting because the Horns are coming back in the borders of Texas for a prestigious bowl game. A bowl game they're going to play in for the borders of texas for a prestigious bowl game. A bowl game they're going to play in for the 23rd time and I'm pretty sure you're excited about this. Everybody is how about we just dive into it and make it happen? Let's do it, man, let's ride baby.
Speaker 7But now to be in the semis and playing the Cotton Bowl in Dallas is huge. You know we're going to need our fans. We're going to need our fans' support. I need Longhorn Nation to show out in Arlington. We're going to need everything we got to try to win this game. You know, clearly we're massive underdogs. Nobody's going to give us a shot, so we're going to need all that we can to try to win this game.

Overall, we're almost up to half a thousand, but Stevie the college football playoff we're down to four. This is the round, obviously, that Texas went to last year when they were only four and barely lost to Washington. But when you look back at that Peach Bowl, that Peach Bowl game, much, much props to Arizona State and Cam Scataboo I finally said his name correctly, without hesitating or saying it two or three times.
Speaker 3Much love and respect to them and they really made a game of it, that heart and soul of the Sun Devils. They gave Texas all they could have and Texas was up 24-18 entering that fourth quarter.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was a really good game. I got to eat a little bit of crow because I said we'll win that by 21 points, Right, and it looked like in the beginning of the game it was going to be like that and then they found something. They dug deep and found something in our a kink in our chain of armor and made it a good game and I wish they would not have. But I'm also feeling optimistic, and we'll talk about this later. Is we barely made it out of that game? So we are looking at this game like a loss so we can come out and play a whole lot better next game. So in Ohio State they handled Oregon very, very easily. They're riding high coming into this game. They're riding low trying to prove that we need to be in this game. That may be the motivation that we come out and play a flawless game. What we out and play a flawless game. What we need actually is a flawless game. We haven't had that all year.
Speaker 3Texas hasn't played a complete game since I want to say Michigan, but I think right here this is all Texas needs to know A five-and-a-half point dog, that's pretty significant, and the game is in Texas at the Cotton Bowl Pretty significant and the game is in Texas at the Cotton Bowl. I like it because I've said all along I thought Ohio State from top to bottom both sides of the ball and special teams, the best team in the country.
Speaker 3And now we're going to see and listen. Arizona State elevated their game. They really did, and Texas was so close. There were so many parts of that game that was controversial and people are still talking about it. Arizona State trying to. Still they're not letting it go, and I get it. But the targeting calls, the targeting calls that were missed against Bonds and then, of course, taft. I'll say this that was how you coached to hit. Yeah, did not with the crown of the helmet, Crown head up. Head up, yeah there was no launching.
Speaker 2Sorry.
Speaker 3But there was no launching of his body.
Speaker 3Yeah, exactly he just came downhill and anyway. And then when that missed field goal by Arizona State hit the ground, then went over the goals, field goal or the goal post. They're saying that should have counted as three because it's a live ball and it's like no, you should have gone after it if it was a live ball, but just because it hits the ground and bounces over doesn't count as three. There's so many things, so we see the Vegas odds here and Colin Calhoun, a big national name. This will eat at a lot of Texas fans because Texas has fallen short so many times since that 05 season, you know 09, you couldn't help it. Obviously, colt McCoy there's always that debate if he would have stayed healthy. But this is Colin Cowherd's take on the Longhorns. He's acknowledging that Texas is very sexy and very talented, but this was his take on the Longhorns, which I don't know. I can't wait to hear your take on Cal Hearns' take.
Speaker 5In between these amazing plays by these amazing Texas Longhorn athletes, you can't have 10 penalties, you can't miss assignments. I mean it looked like Arizona State really could not wait to play another game. They were so intent playing with such intention and urgency and sometimes I just feel like my entire life this has been Texas football. I feel like they should be six-time national champs. Not that one Vince Young team and disappointment.
Speaker 3Can you say from afar, he's in LA.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Speaker 3I mean, I think we both can agree from a big myopic view. I understand.
Speaker 2I do. I do understand, man. We've had success and we've always been that far away to Colt McCoy getting hurt in the big game to Texas Tech, and we've always been that far away to Colt McCoy getting hurt in the big game to Texas Tech taking us out of contention, and we've always been on the cusp of a national championship game. He's right, if those things bounce our way, we probably would have four, five, six national championships in between there. But and he's right also that this game felt like, ah, here we go again, you know, but it came out on the other end. You know, before this game I probably would not have agreed with him, but because it's fresh on my mind and the way I was feeling watching the game, it was like dang it, man, here we go again. We we sniff and then we fall, you know, just like last year. You know, uh, quinn threw that back shoulder throw to. Was it Isaiah Bond or was it?
Speaker 3No, no, no, no no.
Speaker 2Number five last year.
Speaker 3Why am I forgetting the name of the receiver Against Washington? Oh, Mitchell, yeah he's an NFL rookie right now.
Speaker 2Yeah, exactly Adedai, and if we'd have made that throw, we'd have gone on to the National Championship game. So, yes, he's actually correct. We we are one, two, three plays away from having multiple championships, but we still only have one from 19 years ago that's it, yeah, and that's that's it, you know.
Speaker 3And so in order for texas and we're going to dive and peel these layers for this cotton bowl the, the CFP Final Four game in Arlington they know they're marketing it as Dallas, but it's actually in Arlington and it's not in the Cotton Bowl Stadium, it's in Jerry World which it's moved there, I think after the 2009 season. But the Texas defense against Arizona State, they were on the field for a lot of snaps.
Speaker 3Way too much, and I don't care how good a shape you are. They were on the field for a lot of snaps in that season and I don't care how good a shape you are, it's going to take its toll and this was Sark addressing that because you cannot do that against Ohio State, because it could get very ugly and it was an odd game.
Defending Ohio State's Offense
Speaker 7You think about we really lost almost three full possessions on offense. You know you think about we really lost almost three full possessions on offense. Anytime you have a scoring return on special teams where we had a punt return for a touchdown that would have been an offensive possession that we lost Our first drive on offense we scored in two plays and then we have the safety in one play and so we really lost three possessions. That you know unintentionally put our defense continually back on the field. I just thought it originally, man, we weren't getting off the field, we were doing OK, especially in the first half of that game, but over time that can wear on you, and so I thought those guys showed a lot of grit, a lot of guts in that game to fight through.
Speaker 3You know we got players playing 100 snaps on defense, not including special teams. That's a lot, man, and can you imagine you being on the field that long?
Speaker 2That's too many snaps, too many plays. You can tell the defense had gotten tired. Yeah, but he's right, unintentional, we had to play extra plays. That going for the block punt, which I would go for twice again. It's just unfortunate that the ball did not get touched and they put the guys back out there for a few more plays. That safety, a few more plays. I'm glad that Quinn jumped on the ball instead of um letting arizona recover in the end zone. That's, that's six points, uh, other than two points, you know. So, um, but he's absolutely correct, man. Um, they were unintentional, but still they were there and the defense cannot be on the field that long. We need to hold the ball a little bit longer. Unintentional, because we had two play scoring drives Right Two and so our offense go out there and bang, bang and then our defense have to come back out there. We'll take that from our offense all day, you know, but our defense, we still got to find a way to keep our defense off the field, you know.
Speaker 3Well, and the part about that that it doesn't bother me, but if you really think about it, that was just a weird game. It very weird, but it was also a part of when you really really, really really look at it. There's so many waves of energy. You saw Arizona State. They were not giving up. They could have just thrown in the towel down 16. I mean, I thought it was over. I did, but it goes to prove, many people like me underestimated Arizona State and the physicality. Now you can debate and I'm not questioning it, it just happened. I always thought you could push a ball carrier into the end zone, but you can't pull like they did Scadaboo.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3They pulled him into it. But regardless, you just cannot have your defense on the field this long against the Buckeyes or whoever they may play in the national championship, if they make it so in this cotton ball. Knowing what Arizona State I'm excuse me, ohio State brings, they're averaging 38.1 points per game. The eye tests they're sexy, very sexy, consistent. How would you defend these guys from a surface level?
Speaker 2I think, doing exactly what we've been doing, because I don't think that they've met a team with the talent that we have, man to man, right. We got the Thorpe Award winner, we got a big defensive line that's big and strong all across the front, not just, you know, two or two inside or two outside. We got a linebacker core that could run to the ball Right. So just play your defense that you've been playing all year and I think that we'll be fine. 31 points against other teams, yes, but not 31 points against one of the top defenses in the country.
Speaker 3Yeah, 38 points for the 38.1, if we're going to be exact, my goodness 38.1,.
Speaker 2I got you.
Speaker 3Yeah. So here are the two guys. I mean they have a lot of weapons and these are just the two. So Will Howard you know he entered the portal. Texas has played Will Howard before when he was at Kansas State. He's talented, he's a big quarterback, he's mobile. I thought he was good at Kansas State. I just didn't see this coming. I thought he was a good quarterback and it shocked me when he transferred to Ohio State but running, passing over 3,600 yards and is accounted for 39 touchdowns. Now, jeremiah Smith, my goodness, 1,200-plus-yard receiver with 14 touchdowns. I mean, from a college football fan, you've got to appreciate what these guys do.
Speaker 2I think these are a lot of yards. This is just a challenge for our defense. I think we have a great secondary that can stop Smith and how we're strong attack. So, and then the defense, I think, is gonna just go to the defensive line, which is hunker down with down, with the linebackers filling, I think we've got the weapons to combat their offense.
Speaker 3Okay, okay. Well, during the Zoom call for Coach Sark, he was asked in particular. I think it was an Ohio journalist, it doesn't matter, but he was asked about defending those guys. He was very quick with his response.
Speaker 7I just hope we're good enough to guard them. These guys are really good players. We'll find out.
Speaker 9Pretty simple.
Speaker 2You catch more flies with honey right.
Speaker 3I can't wait to see it. It's going to be a significant matchup and good on good and what I mean.
Speaker 2Chip kelly is the offensive coordinator at ohio state yeah, yeah that's, that's pretty big and um, but I believe in pk.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3It'll be two brilliant guys devising a plan and then when you've got Colin Simmons and Anthony and you've got weapons, it's just you've got to create turnovers against these guys. I don't know if a bend don't break is going to work against Ohio State, Sure, guys. I don't know if a bend don't break is going to work against Ohio State Sure. I mean just my opinion, humble opinion, that is. So now we talk about all gas, no brakes on O. I think that has got. It's too easy to say this. I think Texas has got to have that mentality and not let up against Ohio State.
Speaker 2We need to jump on them early, stay on them and stay on them late, man you know. Have a complete game against these guys and actually show the world what we can be when you think about it, the run game was was halted, stopped, stonewalled against arizona state.
Speaker 3There was no run game it's true, it's true.
Speaker 2And so these, these uh office alignment got to take that personal this week. Got to take it personal and say, man, we're going to get in here and dig these ohio state buckeyes out of here. Uh, dig them out of the hole and give some lanes for our running backs to just go up and down the field.
Speaker 3So when you say that and at the same token I think a lot of mentality of offensive coordinators and fans alike they say you got to have the run game, open up the pass game. But I think in this offense I really feel like it's Quinn Ewer's passing game that will open up the run game, open up the pass game. But I think in this offense I really feel like it's Quinn Ewer's passing game that will open up the run game and just so people can relive it, but also all the criticism he receives, which I think is unjust in some ways. I have now reversed my tone. This is the Quinn that has to show up throughout the whole game and he had a great pitch.
Speaker 1Ewers. He's pressured looking to extend the play, directing traffic. Now he's going to run it himself and Quinn Ewers goes in for the rushing touchdown. Quinn Ewers trying to audible. To stay alive. Can they hook him Touchdown? Matthew Golden Second overtime and Gunnar Helm opens it up. That way Texas' first play.
Speaker 3The script to begin the game. And you know, sark, that play they drew up to Gunner Hound I think he had to go deep into his, sark did into his play calling that he did not expect he'd have to use Because the way they utilized that tight end there was a lot of deception. And then he went up. I mean you don't see many tight ends streaking Right and beatingaking Right and beating coverage.
Speaker 2Yeah, I think they were sitting there all game actually, yeah, playing chess. Yep, absolutely.
Speaker 3So the Quinn Ewers and I don't know what to? I think he's coming out and he shows up in big-time environments and pressure. I think we see it. And what's funny about this? We all know that he reclassified and skipped his senior year at South Lake Carroll playing for Riley Dodge and decided to go to Ohio State sign with them. But here's the story. Ryan Day talked about recruiting Quinn when he was in junior high.
Speaker 9Well, he was one of the first eighth graders that I ever offered. He was in our camp here in the Woody and I saw a young he was a boy at the time, really who just had a tremendous release and I remember grabbing him and grabbing his dad and said man, you've got a bright future ahead of you. I don't know if this is good or bad, but we're going to offer you a scholarship to Ohio State, even in eighth grade. And again, I don't know if that's legal or not, but we did.
Speaker 3I mean, I think everybody sees what Quinn is capable of. We've seen the throws, you know, and there's so much criticism about him. I mean he was the national headline of high school quarterbacks then. Yeah, why do you think it's evolved to now? It's just like hot or cold every week on Quinn.
Speaker 2I don't think it's hot or cold every week. It's hot or cold during the game.
Speaker 5Yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah. So there are some brilliant plays and you just played a few of them. And then there are some plays like, absolutely, what are we doing? Yeah, he's a great quarterback man. He's a great quarterback. He's one of the best quarterbacks we've had in 10 years at the University of Texas. It feels like the Kirk Cousins of college football. Kirk is going to get you there, but I'm not sure he's going to get you through there. But I think not sure he's going to get you through there. But I think that we have a lot of weapons around Quinn, that whenever he stalls a little bit, someone else can pick up the slack on our team. But he's a great quarterback. I love the kid. He's a good kid and he can throw the ball. He can obviously run a little bit.
Speaker 3To your point, stevie. I mean, yeah, he's proven it and it's quietly, he's quietly. People don't realize this until you look at the UT football record books and the history of UT football. Now I know the game is more passing than it ever has been over the last 10 years or 15, you know, going back to your years at Texas, you started throwing the ball more and Texas Tech was really good about that. But he's third all-time UT football history in passing yards. All right, and that's with those games that he was hurt and didn't play in. Fourth all-time single-season passing yards and third all-time with 66 passing TDs. I mean, is this? When you see that is it? Are you kind of shocked?
Kicking Concerns in Texas Football
Speaker 2It is a little shocking, but again, he's not a bad quarterback, right, he's actually good, and he's led us to college football playoffs last year, college football playoffs this year. So it feels like we're crying from a yacht, but when you look at the eye test and see him play, it's going to be very brilliant throws and plays. And then, all of a sudden, what the hell are we doing? You know?
Speaker 2Yeah throws and plays, and then all of a sudden, what the hell are we doing? You know? So we got to stop saying what the hell are we doing and be like that's a good, smart play. And then we see the magic that he has. That's a good smart play. And then, oh my God, that was a great throw. Good smart play. Oh my God, great throw, not a oh my God, that was a great throw. It was like, oh, what the hell are we doing? We can't go from one end of the spectrum to the other end of the spectrum. Let's go from brilliant play to that was a great play, that was a great kick down, brilliant play, great decision. You know so. You know that's what we just got to get rid of the, the negative plays, because when the negative plays come through, they're real negative plays.
Speaker 3Now you're right the part, so you don't need a hero like performance To beat Ohio State. I mean Ohio State's not invincible, but nobody is. I mean Ohio State's not invincible, but nobody is. I think anybody can win on any given week and I do think, being the underdog, you're going to see a. This is going to be a much closer game than people think because of that piece, do you see?
Speaker 3what do you see from Quinn? Do you want him to be a game manager or do you want him to have a career day? What's not what you want. But what does Texas need to beat Ohio State, do you think?
Speaker 2Man. I think that we need consistency throughout the game. I would love for him to have a career day this weekend and put the game away early. I would love for that to happen. The game away early. I would love for that to happen. But I think him managing Sark's playbook if he just manages it really really well. Sark's playbook is so good that we can still blow someone out just by managing Doing long, sustainable drives, keeping our defense on the bench and healthy and not tired and fresh. We do long, sustainable drives and capitalize with touchdowns on the end of the drive, go back out and have short drives for Ohio State. That's just a good, sound game plan. No one's doing anything spectacular, but everyone's doing their job. You know what I mean.
Speaker 3Yeah, and no turnovers.
Speaker 2No turnovers exactly.
Speaker 3A turnover could probably happen. But ball security, I agree with you. I think he needs probably a 250-yard day of passing a couple touchdowns and limit the turnovers. I mean, I'm just throwing something on the wall, but Texas also needs to get these points from Burt Auburn and this is a hard subject because we are partners with him and Hargrove. But it is a game. We analyze it, it's, it's, it's. You've got to dive deep and call it like it is. Call a spade a spade. And Cedric Golden, great writer for the American Statesman, friend of the podcast and also uh stories inside the man Cave VIP alumnus. He was on the Paul Feinbaum show and talking about man. They may need a change at kicker moving forward.
Speaker 10At the end of the day, man, it's a 38-yard field goal and they actually called the play to get it centered up for you indoors with no wind, that's a mental thing, that's got nothing to do with physical. And Will Stone is the backup kicker and I wouldn't be shocked if Steve Sarkeesian is giving him a look, because if it comes down to field goal and this game is going to be way closer than some of the odds makers are saying you got to feel like you can count on this guy.
Speaker 3I don't disagree with that at all. But either you're performing or you're not. If you're Sark or you're the, say that Stevie Lee's the Longhorns head football coach, brother, what do you do in this situation? I mean, what do you do this week? I mean, what do you do this week?
Speaker 2First of all, I'm going to buy me a Cadillac V-Series Escalade with that $8 million that he's getting if I was a coach. But second of all, I will stick with Burt. I'm sorry. He's been good all year. He missed a couple field goals all year. He's been good all year. He missed a couple field goals all year.
Speaker 2But when you look at stats and statistics and you look in your players' eyes last week he missed two field goals. I don't see Burke doing that again, right? He's been good all year round, right? So I think that you know, sark, leave him alone, let him do his routine. I did not like when Sark hugged him and smiled in his face before he took that kick, because that made that kick different from all the other kicks. You know, just let him do his routine. Leave him alone and let Burt do what he does and kick a regular field goal like he always did. He's not bad. We've praised him plenty this season and so he's going. He. There was two missed field goals. Yes, we still came out with the W. This is not an individual game, this is a team game, so we still got it.
Speaker 3Next week, I stick with him, right right, I think, stick with him, but if we're going to be bluntly honest, this is his worst year at Texas.
Speaker 4I think he's missed nine kicks.
Speaker 3Okay, somewhere around that neighborhood and to your point, he is a talented kicker. More than likely will be kicking in the NFL, but he's statistically. He's made some clutch kicks but he has missed a lot of kicks that he was money automatic on, I mean within 40, I think that was his first miss within 40 yards. Yeah, that's what I don't. Nobody understands.
Speaker 2Yeah, kickers are a different breed. Right and first miss. If that's the first miss between 40 yards, it's not a pattern for him, so I stick with him.
Speaker 3Well, what if he misses one in the game in the Cotton Bowl? Do you yank him then?
Speaker 2No, I'm going to ride with who I came in the game with. If he's not hurt, then we're not going to change it, because he'll get another chance to put it through for the win.
Speaker 3Makes sense.
Speaker 2Yeah, you don't want to ruin good karma. You know what. You know the book that I think I have it around here that Coach Royal wrote Dance with the ones who brung you. And Burt Auburn for the last three years two, three years he got us there. We've been dancing with him all week, all year.
Speaker 3Hey, stevie, something that you and I can relate on is our faith right.
Speaker 3Not everybody has that faith and it's okay. I don't judge anybody, but I thought what Jadae Barron, the Thorpe Award winner, and Quinn Ewers said after that Peach Bowl win over Arizona State Really and we've known this there's some strong faith going on in this team and you know, your brothers in a team really have a good influence on you in many ways. I will say my faith has saved me in different moments of life, like so many other people. But this is inspiring and regardless if you're a Christian or whatever, if you have faith period, there's no judgment to each their own, but I thought this was somewhat inspiring to hear.

I think that these kids are really grounded because these guys got a lot of money and they're really really young and you don't hear we're right down the street from the university and you don't hear the crazy stuff that could be happening with these kids. They're centered, they're grounded, they have a good support staff over there to keep these kids nose clean because, you know, get at 19 years old, give me a million dollars yeah give me a million.

Stevie Lee and his lovely wife Summer is a much better half. You guys do a lot of runoffs. You guys keep up with a lot of cool things and dining and fun stuff for your family. Is there anything that you have encountered recently that you had a good experience that you could pass along as a pro tip to our fine American viewers and listeners?
Speaker 2Yeah, I was going a different route with this one. Today, man, austin, texas, is about to get a freeze, a really deep freeze, for the next five days, man. So I am a real estate agent in Austin. Um, I deal a lot with homes, houses and properties and things like that. So my pro tip, guys to take care of your pipes. Uh, go and cover or wrap your pipes up tonight, because it's getting down to the twenties tonight, um, well, and nights, this probably going to come out tomorrow, but the nights after that it's going to still be in the 20s. So, go and wrap your pipes, take care of your home, your home will take care of you. Go get some firewood and keep your house cool or warm throughout the day, so your HVAC is not working overtime at night. So that's my pro tip to bundle up. Be careful out there. If we get some precipitation, which we look like we're going to get on Thursday and Friday, that can freeze on the roads and you know how Texans are driving on ice. We just don't know how.

So, uh, hang in there, guys. It's a deep freeze, it's I'm actually looking forward to it. A bundle up in front of the fire and watching TV and things like that and watching some football. It's just that time of year, man, enjoy it, but be careful out there.

Now, keep in mind this is not me, I just discovered it and I was like man. If there's certain four-legged animals, you wouldn't think that what would come out of them. In certain ways and this was interesting it looks like a mountain goat or a ram, like it was winking at us it just rolled down too, man, like it was winking at us.

Speaker 3All right, stevie, a lot of good. This is a new year, that's great. But, I'm not a big believer. As we talked about new year, new me. Just think of it as a new chapter, to get a new start, to create better habits. Tell me something good, my brother.
Speaker 2Something good is we are in 2025. Embrace it, love on it and take it head on. Man, 2024 was not great for me, but I'm ready for 2025. I got a kid that's about to go to college. It's going to be new beginnings for 2025 for us as a family. So I'm trying to take it head on. You know, when you have a baby in the house for 18 years, it's going to be a big adjustment to losing not losing her or anything like that, just not having her in the house 24, seven. So yeah, present in the house. So that's something good, man. Just the life changing, life changes and uh, I wanna. I wanna embrace it and enjoy it instead of uh, waddle in it and and try to be or not being happy about the moment, because I think that my wife and I have done something right if we have a kid that's doing the steps to go on to college and things like that. So I'm trying to enjoy it and embrace it instead of being sad about it.
Speaker 3Well, you have every right to feel that way. Every parent does. And I will say this, I'm going to go on the record to say this you and Summer have done an amazing job of raising these girls. Especially in this world where there's so many influences, there's so many negative things to which not only are they just good students, good student athletes and just good humans. They are so respectful to everybody they encounter. When you're with them and when they make eye contact yes, sir, no sir, yes, ma'am, no ma'am. And they have good personalities, and that's a reflection of you two. But they're also their own people and you guys, to get them there, and I think, for all of you parents, to get them to where they're going, to take that next major leap as a young adult, you've done a fabulous job.
