SPEAKER_09:

The Saxton name resonates in Austin. Jim's late father, James Saxton, is a Longhorn legend, a Heisman finalist while playing for Daryl K. Royal. And Jimmy is a UT football legacy from Westlake. He has been insuring Austin for decades. He and his staff will give you old school hospitality when servicing your insurance needs to be a good thing.

SPEAKER_04:

Ooh, what is the fine these days? Is it 100%?

SPEAKER_09:

Well, it it varies conference to conference. I mean, the ACC, if that's accurate, which I think it is, the ACC, it's only fifty thousand dollars.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, uh, one of the donors got that for sure.

SPEAKER_09:

Oh, they got that. I mean, someone donated a uh a week's salary to that.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_09:

So that was, you know, I think in the Big 12, especially the SEC, it's I think five times that, maybe a half of that.

SPEAKER_04:

Really?

SPEAKER_09:

I I think it's much more. They take these field storming seriously, but yet people still doing it. And our guy Lane Kippin. I'm wondering why their fans didn't storm the field when they beat LSU.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, that's tough. I don't know, man. I think when you expect to win and expect to beat them, I think that's why you don't you don't storm the field. But I don't know, man. SEC is a different breed, you know. Big the the uh underdog uh upsets the the the the favorite all the time, so it may be normal.

SPEAKER_09:

Well, LSU stormed the field last year when they don't miss, if I remember correctly. Yeah, okay. But but Kiffin has uh had a great perspective on it in his own humorous kind of way. We're gonna get to that here a little later, but quickly, Stevie. Uh give your perspective now as we're we're through with bye week here in Austin, Texas. What are you expecting? And we're gonna dive deeper into it here shortly.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh man. I'm expecting a game this week. That's all. That's all I'm gonna say.

SPEAKER_09:

That's my tease in the land of the swamp, Gainesville, Florida. And you know what? It makes me wonder though, if our guys, your fellow, what what do you call a citizen from Shreveport? Shreveortian? Shreeporter, God, I'm an idiot. So hardgrove roofing. I I would venture to say the hardgroves, I would love. I don't know, man. Are they going to Gainesville?

SPEAKER_04:

I don't know. That's a good question. He may, yeah, he may, I don't know.

SPEAKER_09:

But hey, but but we got to give a shout out to him, man. Much love to these guys. Hardgrove roofing. Stevie, take it away.

SPEAKER_04:

Hardgrove roofing, know who's on your roof.

SPEAKER_09:

You'll know who's on your roof with hardgrove roofing. They do quality, quality work, and uh they do things the right way, and you can trust them, which speaks volumes in this world today. Stevie, episode four eighty-three. You ready, brother? Let's ride.

SPEAKER_04:

Let's ride, baby.

SPEAKER_09:

All right, we're done with the bye week. Now it's back to the it's SEC opening week for some programs like Texas. And before we get into that, be sure to follow us on all of our social media platforms. I'm making Stevie prouder by the day. I have addressed the TikTok issue head on, and we have grown 60% on TikTok just in two months. It's a pain, but man, I've met some fine, fine Americans on TikTok, and now they're followers and enjoy our content. I think they meant they want more of Stevie's dome than this bald dome.

SPEAKER_04:

I don't think so, man.

SPEAKER_09:

Hey, a big shout out to uh, as we mentioned, hard grove roofing, but to each of our sponsors, uh Dirty Martin's Place, Honest Plumbing and Air, Jim Saxon State Farm, everybody, and Northwest Hills liquor. And we're gonna onboard a new sponsor soon who uh creates fanfare clothing, uh a UT graduate. And she's done well. She's done well, she has ties to the first lady of the man cave. I was gonna say that. There you go. We're gonna get it. So, big time SEC opening weekend for Texas, it's finally arrived. Enough of the downplaying, enough of the criticism of Arch and all those new starters at key positions. Man, is it for as a player, is it truly, truly a new beginning?

SPEAKER_04:

We yes, we call it a new beginning. It's the second half of the season. We finished the first half, I guess. I mean you can call it a half because um we don't have any more bye weeks, correct?

SPEAKER_09:

Yeah, I think there is, I think there's one more.

SPEAKER_04:

Gotcha. Well, it's the first um first sector of the season. So um, so we start over, start afresh, and we want to win out until the next buy, right? So um uh if you're asking me my perspective of the game, man, just come out. Hopefully everyone's healthy, they got some rest, um, and then you know, come in and um give us a showing. Like everyone knows what we're looking for. We're looking for arch to be arch again, we're looking for the defense to continue to do what they do. Um, we're looking to clean up the game, all facets of the game, defensively, offensively, uh, special teams, and cleaning up the penalties. This is a brand new, fresh refresh, and let's uh go out there and and you know dominate the game like we know we can. Hey, it's time for the playmaker, 83.

SPEAKER_09:

He's waiting. He's in the waiting room. We have a talent room, it's called the our green room. He's in it. He's in it, he's in it. Let's bring him in A, welcome back. We're starting another new chapter, the league race. Um, Stevie gave his perspective on you know, it's I think it's great timing for any team coming off of bye week before you start that league race. But man, let's go, let's dig right into it. MA, what's your perspective or your take on those Florida Gators after you you've kind of had a little bit of a sample set here the last few weeks?

SPEAKER_03:

Yes, sir. They uh man, they're a wounded dog. I mean, I mean, they're a wounded dog right now, and you know what they say about wounded dogs. I mean, sooner or later that dogs don't come out fighting. Yeah, and and I think you saw a little bit of it against Miami. They were uh, you know, you know, I think people were expecting that game to to to probably be somewhat of a blowout, but it was it was a tight game. I mean, Florida hung in there, still having issues uh, you know, offensively, but the defense, man, is outstanding. I mean, they're probably a top 10 defense, and we know they have athletes all over the field, probably the first real challenge, I'm sure, that we've seen all year. So they're gonna be able to match up skill for skill. I mean, this is definitely a big game for Arch. I mean, I mean, I think we talked about a few weeks ago. Stevie Maddie hit on it. You know, they're gonna have guys running without receivers, no, one-on-one. But I mean, that front seven is gonna be coming, they're gonna be bringing blitches and twists and different things like that. So, man, it's it's gonna be a challenge in the swamp. No, 230, no, 330 start on the east coast. Uh, this is the game I feel like they think they can win, and man, it is probably the only thing at this point. Those guys are probably playing, you know, full blast for uh Coach Napier. Because I think if he loses this game and loses it in a horrible fashion, we might see him get the ringer on Sunday. That's kind of been the trend. Yes, that's kind of been the trend with coaches that have been getting fired, man. Sunday's been Black Sunday, I guess we'll call it. They've been getting the the the ringer, man, on Sunday. So, you know, you never you hate to see that happen, but Florida's got to play well, man. I I expect them to.

SPEAKER_09:

There you go, Stevie. We've been talking about this. I mean, I know it's a broad question, but Stevie, I don't I don't know how to game plan for Florida, but there's your there's your there's your topic that Stevie wanted to ask you.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, yeah, Mike, man. Wanted to see, like, what do you think the game plan should be against Florida, man? Like, what are you what are your feelings?

SPEAKER_03:

I think, and I'll go defense first, man. I it, you know, Miami's kind of laid the blueprint. A few other teams have kind of laid the blueprint against Florida. Man, we gotta put a lot of pressure on on Lagway. If he plays, I know he's kind of injured and nurses and things, but I I think I saw last week um he he was practicing a little bit. So gotta be aggressive, man. And I really I think the only way that they could probably hurt us is if we probably give them too much man-to-man. Because to me, it gets a little easier when you know his man. One high safety, you know, bring a little pressure. I mean, he's got a chance at that point to hit some throws. I I think we mix up our looks, man. I know uh Keenan in that secondary and and PK on defense calling things, confusing, man. We don't need to get you know, defer, you know, too much or get away too much from what LSU did, even what Miami did, and just get pressure with our front four, man, and force him to make decisions. I think uh we win the game that way. But but if we allow him to become a runner, you know, hit some one-on-one throws and big plays and things like that, you know, add that with momentum. Um, now they have a punch's chance at least. Offensively, this is gonna be our biggest challenge of the year, man. That O line's really got to step up. I can see this being a tight one. I can see this being an Ohio State, you know, Texas type of game, you know, first game. Um, you know, hopefully it's a little better. I think we need to come out and get our some easy throws. We're gonna find out what kind of receiving court we have this game. Um, wingo, time you to step up, buddy. You're you're the number one guy. Um, you know, uh Parker Livingston, lead the team in touchdowns. Reset, time you to step up this week. Anyone can do it against San Jose State and some of those guys. We got we need to do it against these Gators. And I think we need to take some shots. We need to be aggressive, man. Let's turn Arch loose, let's see what he has, let's get him on the run, let's get him on some spread out, some things like that. Let's let's let him be an athlete a little bit, take advantage of some of his skills. And I say we'll attack Florida that way. I mean, uh, you know, Carson, Carson Beck, he was kind of saying in the pocket a little bit, and Florida got to him. You know, like I said, they got a great defense, but I think we need to Arch is a better athlete than Carson. Let's let Art be an athlete. Let's mix it up, get him on some sprint out, get him on some drop back, you know, get him some play action a little bit, but but be aggressive, whatever we do.

SPEAKER_09:

Stevie, you and Mike both. I know you guys play games and various elements. Um, we we're blessed to where we live. It's stays fairly warm throughout the football season, but you do deal with rain, and especially in the southeast. But I I do recall, Mike, you guys played, I had two very rainy games. Uh 94 Rice in Houston, but I also remember one University of Virginia in '96. How did that alter your game as a team? But do you think now, too, if it rains as they say it will, I think there's like a 60-70% chance of rain in Gainesville. Does that favor Texas offensively with that downhill run game? Or do you think that could cause some problems?

SPEAKER_03:

I think it makes it an even game, to be honest. I mean, you know, you mentioned our run game, and you know, I I wish we have shown, I wish we had been able to show more this year with our run game. I know we got the guys, the talent, and we're getting some guys back from injuries, so that's gonna help. Man, we're gonna need to lean on it. But but therein lies, you know, part of our issue, man. Our O line's got to really step up this week because it's probably gonna be rainy and muddy and monsoon type of weather. And one of those games you left off is the Missouri game in '96. You talk about a uh monsoon and and you know, tropical downpour, man. That was it. But um, you know, obviously you have to change your game plan when it when it's raining. Uh, I mean, you got to dig our cleats in, and you're really gonna need to lean on the run blocking, man. And um, that that makes even more for a defensive battle, you know, and and getting Arch on the run, let getting him in the run game. I mean, here's here's the time now, and and you know, you gotta be risk, you know, oh, you know, careful with that because you don't want to get guys hurt, but still to some degree, the offensive guy has the advantage when it's slippery outside. So I think uh, you know, getting him on some on some sprint outs, some runs, man, you know, come to run on some sprint outs, some boot type action, you know, getting our receivers, you know, potential double moves this game, because you know, those guys play a lot of aggressive man to man. They'll probably bite on some things. We're gonna have to find a way, man, to to manufacture some points. Uh, because it's just not gonna be line up, spread it out, you know, sling it, and you know, it's 80% chance of a weather.

SPEAKER_09:

Stevie, you uh I'd love to hear your perspective from a defensive player's point of view. When it's raining like that, what I mean, you're in the trenches where it gets muddy if it's on grass, right?

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, so I was gonna ask, do we know what what surface is in uh Gainesville?

SPEAKER_03:

Man, it's grass, I believe it's like natural grass, Bermuda.

SPEAKER_04:

I think it was natural, yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

And and and it and you know I'm gonna say this one thing, Stephen. You definitely crack at it. Um, Florida's used to this, though. They played in these types of games before.

unknown:

So I'm gonna go.

SPEAKER_07:

I don't call it the smoke for nothing.

SPEAKER_03:

Exactly. So the advantage goes to them. I mean, it's gonna be fairly new for us. So our guys, you know, hopefully we bring three or four different types of cleats and just be prepared from that standpoint.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, so uh yeah, answer your question, Sean. Um the defense is always a click behind, just a click behind. But then you get a little bit more behind when it's wet weather, right? So uh when you see the offensive player make their cut, you got to be careful with your cut cut and be surefooted with your cut, is one of my coaches would say. Sure footed. Um, because if you are leaning too far over your cleats, you can slip, right? And then that that can break a huge tackle. So um yeah, it's and you're right. Um uh uh Mike, it's they are used to it. Like I said, they don't call it a swamp for nothing. They are used to that to that surface, that weather, uh, and everything. So we're coming in at a little bit of a disadvantage when it comes to the weather and the home field advantage, but um, you know, we still got arch. And arch I still trust, man, right? So uh yeah, and the defense, I still uh like our defense and and things like that. So uh it's gonna be a good game. I can't wait to see how we respond to all this adversity we've had the last three weeks, really. Because you know, people said that we did good against Sam Houston State, but they always say it with a grain of salt. So um uh these kids really need to come out and show them what they got to show themselves, their fans, and the voters to show what they got. Um, I mean, what are we ranked nine right now? Nice. Maybe we dropped the spot, yeah. Yeah, so you know, we gotta really come out there and show it's we're we're getting into the middle of the season, guys. Right, right? Like this is the fifth game, and so uh we really need to step up, or it's the fourth game. It's the fourth game, but fifth week.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, something like that. So um, so we really need to step up and start actually playing the football that we were expected to play at the beginning of the year, and I'm really looking forward to seeing that uh come out. And um, you know, we don't have another home game until October 1st, a whole month away.

SPEAKER_09:

So November, yeah.

SPEAKER_04:

I'm sorry, November 1st, yes. And so it's um come out tomorrow, or I'm sorry, tomorrow. Come out this Saturday. I'm ready to play right now. Come out this Saturday, man, and and and and and show what you can actually do, man. You gotta be you gotta get hyped for these type of games, you know.

SPEAKER_03:

No doubt. Yeah, and and man, and this is a game that a lot of people have circled on on the schedule for more, you know, even though OU's a week after that, and you know, we led off with Ohio State, but but it's this Florida game, you know, one of one of the first, uh, you know, first time we we've played those guys, you know, to my knowledge, and uh, you know, at least in this era anyway, and it's in their place, you know. You know, yeah, we've gone against Ohio State, we've played Georgia, we've played Alabama, but but we haven't played one of those Florida type teams. You know, it's been a while. And uh, you know, this was been circling the calendar for a long time, man. And you know, I think I said it last week. I saw the swag, I saw it, I saw us standing over guys, hovering over guys. We gotta see that on Saturday.

SPEAKER_07:

Every week.

SPEAKER_03:

We're gonna need to see that this Saturday against these type of guys. They come out of the womb talking trash. So, so if we show any type of weakness, seriously, I mean you guys know. I mean, these guys, if we show any type of weakness, man, they're gonna feed on it.

SPEAKER_09:

Chum in the water.

SPEAKER_03:

Yep, they're gonna feed on it.

SPEAKER_09:

So we all know that uh I don't care how poorly a team was in September when conference play rolls around, every team, almost every team, especially when they're playing at home, they're gonna play on a much different level than they have. Right. Especially when you got a team that is a wounded dog and their coach is almost under the dirt. They're gonna play hard. And it's it's yeah, this I think this game's gonna be a lot closer than people think. I do I do think Texas wins.

unknown:

We do.

SPEAKER_04:

You think Texas wins, but um, I think that Florida gonna fight because remember last year we beat them 49. We put up 49 on them. Right, right, right. Yeah, yeah. Be pretty good. Be pretty good. And uh was his 49 to 17, I believe. And um, they they trying to get their lick back. They're gonna try to get their lick back and come out fired up. That if the if if they want to beat anybody on their schedule, they want to beat the new kids on the block, the ones that beat them last year.

SPEAKER_03:

Exactly. I mean, and man, it not only is it a big game for Napier, it's a big game for Florida, man, it's a big game for for Lagway. Uh, I mean go huge game for him. I mean he's he's already laid an egg pretty much against LSU and Miami, and you know, very, very minimal hundred, you know, uh passing yards. I mean, probably less than 100 passing yards, 150 passing yards in two games for those combined games. Now you're playing another you know, top fight elite defense, and uh, you know, he his name was thrown out, you know, some of those Hosman front runners. So, man, this this game is huge for his reputation. If he if he wants to salvage it, man, he's gotta come out, and what better weekend and and time to do it than against you know your your hometown, in-state, you know, Texas Longhorns. If he can get back on track this game, it it could really salvage you know, possibly his career. Yeah, because because man, because right now it's a lot of things hanging in the balance for him.

SPEAKER_09:

It is, it's gonna be fun. I thought it was a morning game. It is a 230 central kick. Uh MA, we're gonna keep you around. I love we we love your takes because we're gonna uh because it's on the road, we've got the right place for you to go to get those beverages lined up, and and as we transition from that, man, they want some respect for their 4-0 start in Aggie Land.

SPEAKER_02:

Anybody want to ask a question about like us being 4-0 for the first time since 2016, or how did the defense bounce back, or how about you held them to 176 yards on offense and you had five sacks and they were 0 for 12 on third down and 0 for 2 on fourth down, and you got the return game going again. Like, I don't mean to sound like someone else, but my gosh, will you guys stop being so dreadful and gloomy? Yeah, next one.

SPEAKER_09:

Start with you, man. And I'm I'm a believer in the Aggies this year. They I don't know, they look like a CFP at large team.

SPEAKER_03:

They're definitely trending in the right direction. Now, and I know people might be upset. They're talking about the offensive performance this past weekend, and I mean, man, that Arvin game is gonna be tough. Like, like, I don't know why. I mean, you look at Arvin and OU. I mean, I mean, we we we can look no further than that game. I mean, that was a tough game for OU offensively, and they found a way to to to grind it out. Same thing with AM. I mean, I know it wasn't no um quarterback, I know it wasn't his best performance. Man, I almost called him Reggie McNeil.

SPEAKER_09:

Marcel Reed.

SPEAKER_03:

Marcel Reed, yeah. The other guy, the other dude that got him. He looks like Reggie. He does, he does. I don't call him Reggie. I almost took it back, man. Reggie McNeil. But um didn't have his best game. But man, we we can't take away the fact that he he kind of dominated Notre Dame and took them up and down the field against those guys. So we know what he's capable of, but Arvin's gritty, man. Their defense is they were in that game to win it. And Armin's gonna play a lot of teams close like that. And uh, you know, they they they're having some issues of their own offensively, but that was a good win for AM. That that was a good probably wasn't their best performance as a team, but they got the victory, and that's crucial, man. And SEC play right now, conference play right now.

SPEAKER_09:

Stevie, what what's your thoughts on AM, man? I mean, Elko, do you I mean, you he was rattled off those stats. He's well rehearsed. I mean, it sounds like he's let's be honest, that's a piss.

SPEAKER_04:

It sounded like he wanted to flip the room and and and turn into something positive. Um, they've been negative for a long time. AM, it's was it's been negative for a long time, and he's absolutely correct. Y'all stop being so negative because we are 4-0 right now, right? Right, and we are they we and it's hard to hold somebody to zero. Um, what was it? What did he say? Oh, and something on third down, yeah, oh 13 or something like that on third down.

SPEAKER_03:

No conversion, exactly.

SPEAKER_04:

That's no conversion, it's hard to do. Let's talk about that. So he's doing his job by getting things getting the media to talk about positive things. It was just funny in the way he did it. Um, but uh man, listen, I I'm usually in Shreveport with the family for that AM game, right? And uh I always miss it, I always uh give up my tickets that game. Um, I told my mama already I'm coming back. I'm I'm gonna leave, I'm gonna leave Shreveport early to make it back on time to come back to DKR Stadium and go to that AM game. It's gonna be fun. Um, hopefully our guys are on track and ready to go because AM is gonna be um they're gonna be a force at the end of the year because they're they're they're still they steady getting better, and um so and then what we need to do is stay to get better as well, and so um that's gonna be a really good game at the end of the season.

SPEAKER_03:

Yeah, like like Elko man talking about the the fans and the media, man. That that's you know what you already know what it is. That's Aggie gone Aggie, like be satisfied with four or no, like like come on now. It's not like you guys have been just that this dominant force. I mean, you finally got a good leader in place, it feels like um you overcame the whole recruiting debacle of that 2022 class, or you know, paying those guys millions of dollars and all of them transferred. I mean, I mean you you kind of righted the ship. Let's let's let's chill, let's chill, let me keep this thing going. Y'all just be supportive instead of being acting like we won three or four national championships because we know you haven't done that at all.

SPEAKER_04:

Absolutely.

SPEAKER_09:

That's so I was thoroughly entertained by this. I I really the big boy receiver, the old line with old lineman with hands for Alabama in that upset in Athens. Caden Proctor, that's that's an athlete. That looked like Stevie Lee in his prime almost. Okay.

SPEAKER_03:

Mike, he is Bama back. Man, I think so. They they look very, very good. I honestly thought that uh Georgia might win the game. I mean, I picked George to win the game. I did have some reservations about the the quarterback matchup. I felt like uh, you know, Alabama's quarterback, you know, probably had the advantage and he showed it. He he showed it, man. Alabama looks very good. They they kind of remind me, they look like Washington two years ago with the with the trunk the three receivers, the quarterback play, they got the running back back, you know, their defense seems to be gelling together, coming together. I mean, they just went into the uh man, the hedges. They went between the hedges and came out with a victory. Not many teams do that. That's a topic. It's hard to play there. It's hard to play there. Exactly. And they did it. Now, I had to say, man, Alabama's definitely a top 10 football team right now at this junction in the season. Definitely.

SPEAKER_09:

Stevie, uh, are you buying it?

SPEAKER_04:

Uh I need one more big game out of them. Um I need one more big game, man. Um it's uh because for me, man, the reason Alabama was so good was the spirit of um of Nick Saban there. And when he left, I mean, another coach can come in and win some big games, but I need some consistency to say that Alabama is back. You know what I mean? So it's just like with Texas, too. I'd say the same thing. People like oh, Texas is back after one big game. Nah, remember when we beat um uh Notre Dame here? Well, a couple years, a few years ago, when we beat Notre Dame here. Yeah, oh Tyrols, yeah, yeah. And everybody was like, Texas is back. Tex well, we weren't we weren't back.

SPEAKER_09:

Bad teams on the field that day.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, exactly. So I don't know, man. I I need one more big game Alabama to say they're back, quote unquote. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_03:

I think they're gonna I think they're gonna give it to you. I mean, I think Saturday, man, that was a pivotal game for the board. I mean, obviously on the high seat that's been on the high seats really since he took the job. Yeah, you you you pointed to it, man. I mean, you know, losing against Florida State this year, and you know, kind of, you know, you you still got the Nick Saban hangover, and I think Saturday was huge from that aspect. I think he now feels like he kind of got that monkey off his back, and he feels like it's probably his team, and he's probably got some of his guys, you know. You you can just see the wrinkles like with the offense, like like that. That looked like Washington 2023, 2024. I mean, I mean, those guys are you know, he found him a quarterback. I mean, that guy's gonna get drafted, dude. What what's what's the name? I kind of forgot. I keep wanting to call him uh why am I forgetting it? I know, I don't know why I'm forgetting it, but he's an NFL caliber quarterback. He is that guy has wheels, man. He's making reads, he's making tight throws and windows. I mean, I mean, he's playing himself into an NFL career at this point, and he's got those triumphant receivers, man. They got big time playmakers. I I think that was a coming out party for Ken and the board to be honest. Would it shock me one bit? I'm I probably shouldn't say this, but don't be surprised if Bama beats Vanderbilt by two touchdowns. Don't be surprised. Oh don't be surprised. Man, I felt I got heartburn on that one. Don't be surprised. Hey, hey, the boy is don't be especially with them kind of upsetting uh Georgia last year, and they're riding high, and they go into Vanderbilt and they get beat. They got handle, really. That's on his mind. Trust me, that that's on his mind. That that actually elevated him back to the hot seat. It did, it did. He's back on the perch. Exactly. I think this time he exercised his demons. Stephen Lee, I think they are back. I think these guys are gonna roll on Saturday. Roll roll roll time. I think they're gonna roll.

SPEAKER_09:

George T would love to hear you say that. So the team that beat them, Florida State, they were upset at Virginia, and I still don't know about that receiver who when I'm that storming of the field in Charlottesville, Virginia. I still don't know if that receiver was trampled or not. No one's given a welfare welfare check to that seminole receiver. All those students just disregarded any seminole on the field, but it only cost UBA 50 grand. And of course, uh, our guy, uh, the the old miss head coach Kiffin was asked about that and the cost of why their fans didn't storm the field when they beat LSU. And he was asked, how much would that cost if they did?

SPEAKER_00:

Get you half of one of their DBs. Just to give them since you want since you're asking. Um, but uh I just think it it's says a lot of where we're at, you know. Um we lost down there, and LSU stormed the field last year against Ole Miss. And that doesn't seem like that's supposed to happen. And then here we beat them here, and we don't storm the field. So um good spot to be in.

SPEAKER_09:

Hey, there we're about to see it. Ole Miss is way up there now in the in the rank is in our power 12. So I think that's funny. He said uh for the cost of what it would have been for Ole Miss fans to storm the field, they could have bought one of LSU's DBs.

SPEAKER_04:

Well, he said half of one of their DBs.

SPEAKER_09:

That's right. Half of one of them. Yeah. So big twelve uh the power twelve. Guys, we saw some movement. Here's what it looks like this week the power 12 and four on the outside. Are we uh are we in a disagreement, agreed, or I don't know what to say.

SPEAKER_04:

Oh, I don't know about putting Oregon all the way up to second. I don't know.

SPEAKER_03:

They went in shape. That Oregon team looked that looked like a different Oregon team. Yeah, they were grimy, they were gritty, win that game on the road with a fairly young quarterback, one in overtime at that. Definitely top five. Three or two, maybe yeah, I'm with you a little bit, but I I I can understand why though.

SPEAKER_04:

When winning in front of 115,000, that that's you're right, and all the way across the country, too.

SPEAKER_03:

So yeah, yeah, time difference. Yeah, exactly. They look ready to go, man. That that was a gritty, grimy game, three, three to half, and Oregon kind of seized control, man. And and really, I thought once they went up 17-3, I'm like, okay, it's it's it's over. Now it's definitely about to be a blowout. Still not sure how P State scored. Oregon might let off the gas a little bit defensively. They gave up, I don't know how they gave that up, man. And really disappointed PN State, bro. I don't know about P State at number six now or seven, wherever they were. Honestly, they they may need they they may need to be on the fringe of the topic. 10 or 12? Yes, yes, yes, lose at home. Yes, well, very poor schedule. They played. Then you play a big time opponent, you get smacked in the mouth. Like, not not feeling Penn State right now.

SPEAKER_04:

They didn't get smacked in the mouth, they went to overtime. Come on, man.

SPEAKER_03:

Give us some baby lead is 17 to 3 with like four minutes left. Like, like, like, yeah, I don't know, man. And Drew Aller, top quarterback pick, top pick. Stop it right now. Like, like just stop.

SPEAKER_09:

So we were three and three with our upset potential last week. You're gonna like this list, Mike, because they're one of your sons play for well. I'm saying uh we'll just jump to it. You've already said Bama's gonna handle Vanderbilt. I think Vanderbilt could go in there and beat him, but we've got Virginia riding sky high. Haven't they haven't lost a game yet? They go to Louisville. Can the Cardinals pull that off?

SPEAKER_03:

That that's gonna be a big time game. Um, I am going to it, so I will be there and see it in person. Virginia looks scary, man. They look, I mean, you got another Texas guy playing quarterback, knows that system. Um, Tony Elliott, man, great head coach, finally has that program turn the corner. That Virginia's physical. I mean, they beat Florida State, who beat Alabama, beat them pretty good. No, it's it's a scary game for Louisville for real. It's it's a scary game, and you know, Louisville kind of they they worked hard to get back to you know 1717 tie in pit, which was a tough game. And it really, if it weren't for a few turnovers by Pitts quarterback, they they probably had that game. So um, man, Louisville's gotta play a perfect game, down near perfect, like to win this game. Virginia's gonna be good, they're gonna be ready. I know now Louisville is like a seven-point favorite right now, it may have dipped a little bit even lower, but um it can't be a mistake prone game, kind of like we had a couple days ago. Um they they they better be ready to play Virginia. Man, Virginia, man. Every time I think of Virginia, I just think about those guys that we played in the rain in '96. And and that we played him in '95 and beat them on the last thing of field goal by Phil Dawson. 96, man, they just they broke us. They broke us, man. They they point dexter playing safety. That guy's coming down looking like Ed Reed before Ed Reed was even born, bro. Probably one of the best Sadies I've been around, seen played against. Uh Tiki, Ronde, Barber. I mean, I and I think of Virginia, I think of those guys, and that was kind of that atmosphere they had on Friday. And they'll be taking it on the road, man. They're gonna be tough. That's gonna be a tough out. Louisville's gonna have to play a perfect game.

SPEAKER_09:

Stevie, on this list of six. Which one do you think is an up is a lock to be an upset?

SPEAKER_04:

A lock to be an upset, yeah. I I uh I'm not gonna lie to you, man. I was I got Louisville. Really? Uh yeah, UVA is uh riding at high, bro. The the the school rushed the field. There might be students still on the field out there, man. They are partying on that campus all week, man.

SPEAKER_03:

I know for sure it's the body out there on the field from Florida. Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_04:

Right. So I um when that happens, if you notice in college football, man, you know, somebody get real, real high, yep, and they let the they let that game, they're gonna let Florida State beat them the next week. So that happens in in college football. So I'm thinking that happens again with Louisville. They're gonna ride that high from that win and then and get up to um what what town they play in? Louisville. It's in Louisville, yeah. Yeah, yeah, it's in Louisville. It's in Louisville. My bad, guys. Uh so they're gonna get up to Louisville and and actually um I I say beat them. I mean, beat beat uh Louisville beat UVA.

SPEAKER_09:

So my lock is uh with Meetam as the interim coach for the OSU Cowboys. They looked a lot better against Baylor. Um, I think they go into Tucson and upset the Wildcats. And this is our unofficial tribute to the former legendary OSU cowboy that's no longer the head coach.

SPEAKER_01:

I'm a man! I'm 40!

SPEAKER_08:

Well, last year it was Mary Kay, ladies, and your interaction. This year you you're bringing the style to a new another level. You have a new hairdo. What is this your wife's decision, or is this something you were coming to? I thought Mary Kay was gonna be here again.

SPEAKER_01:

And so I got here and it was just you guys. And so pretty much I wasted two months of hair growth. You'd like to have that, wouldn't you? I'm heading toward a mole, you know, get a little bit of loose perm in there and get a bi-level cut and go right back to it.

SPEAKER_09:

I don't understand why our our boxes are like this, but oh wow, that's we need some Viagra in here. A bi-level.

SPEAKER_04:

So why why did he take a shot at you, man? You just asking a question.

SPEAKER_09:

Well, he back then it took him a few years when I was an OKC, but he realized I never I was really serious about anything, and but he humored it. And you know how those at media days, those interviews, those questions asked are ridiculous. They get old. They're about I'm not even gonna, I know I don't want to insult anybody, but it just gets old, you get the same thing asked for four hours. Yep, so I come in there hot with something random. Now, maybe maybe my stuff's not quality material, but uh, but anyway, I I hated to see it in, but we all know everything, and you guys mentioned it. Yeah, we both agreed it was probably over, and the very next day it happened. Yep, it did.

SPEAKER_03:

Sure did. Nah, it was yeah, you can. I kind of hate that as a former player, he's a former player, man. He was he was back in that era, man. Hartley Dykes and all those guys. Um, yeah, Gunny's been around for a long time. I I wish, and I and I was listening to you know college sports on uh you know series 84, and you know, I think I heard one of those guys say it best. They said, uh, you just wish he could have he's supposed to be in Oklahoma State in some type of capacity, you know, as much as he's done for the school and and just kind of you know been a player and been a coach for a long time. And uh you wish he could have ended better, but you know, um sometimes, man, and I think it's a lesson for coaches, man. I mean, you you you gotta be able to change and adapt to to the uh you know the the scenery that is college football today, and and you know, I think that's why Saban got out of the game. I think that's why Dabo is having trouble where he is. I mean, guys better learn how to adapt, or you know, it's it's gonna pass you by and it may force you out. So um, I'm sure he'll find another job. Hopefully, maybe. I mean, they may look at this situation and be like, I don't know, I don't know if that's the guy we want to bring in. He didn't quite adapt to you know the the changing times around him. Today's athlete and today's uh you know, business of college athletics. So I don't know, man. He's good coach, good dude, but yeah, it is yeah, it went sour, went sour fast.

SPEAKER_09:

Stevie, he's getting a 15 million dollar buyout, which is going to pay, I think, through the 28th season, something like that. Um, I texted his brother Cal. I said, Man, I I thought that was poorly handled by the university. And he his response was, you know what? We've been blessed, and the sun will rise tomorrow.

SPEAKER_04:

The sun will rise tomorrow, and I'm getting 15 or 5 million dollars a year. So getting five million dollars a year to sit on the couch, there's nothing wrong with that, man. Um, I I I can leave right now. What door you want me to leave out of? So he's he's um in all honesty, man. He's touched um some young men's lives. Um uh being a leader for for uh OSU. He's gonna be okay. And uh there's some kids that absolutely love him. Um, he can find another job if he wants it. Uh but he can he can hang it up because that that that I'm a man, I'm 40. What was that? Was that what 15 years ago? That was 2007. 2007, almost 20 years ago. Yeah, oh yeah, he's done. He he he didn't have to do anything else, man. He's he'll be perfectly fine, take his 15 million dollars and sit down and and and and drink coffee the rest of his life, or go to ESPN or Fox and and and and get flown around the country and talk about football, right?

SPEAKER_09:

He'd be ideal for that.

SPEAKER_04:

Yep.

SPEAKER_09:

Playmaker 83, man. This is it's always a pleasure, man. It's always fun. Hey, man, you you bring the best out of Stevie, I've noticed.

SPEAKER_03:

Hey, I'm learning from both of y'all. I'm learning from you guys, man. Y'all got those high takes. I'm like, man, I better, I better make you have a high take of my own.

SPEAKER_09:

It's a high value take, yes, sir. Hey, good luck to your boys. And hey man, we're pulling for a Louisville to upset the what do they call them? The Wahoos, yeah.

SPEAKER_03:

The Wahoos, man. Wahoos. Yeah, that's that's gonna be a good game, man. Uh, yeah. I was kind of like, man, hey, you know, they were in trouble with Pitt. I'm like, okay, Deuce might actually get some run. What time do they this thing getting out of hand? Uh, it's gonna be a 3:30 start, 330 uh East Coast time. Yeah, they'll be on uh ESPN2 opposite the the Florida Texas game. So so yeah, nah, it'll it'll be it's gonna be a fun game, man. Hopefully, uh the stadium's packed out. It's the only stadium in America for college that has seat backs. It's actually constructed like an old school professional football stadium. Okay, uh every seat in there is uh you know, it's fully seat backed. Um, nice little stadium, man. Nice, nice atmosphere. I'm pretty sure that it'll be rocking. So hopefully the cars come out there and get it done, man.

SPEAKER_09:

Man, we really need that's that sounds like a great stadium for people like me that has degenerative disc in our lower backs.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah. Hell, I'm 52. I'm right there with you. I'm 51, and yeah, I need that nice heat back, dude. I can't, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_09:

Oh my god. Well, we'll be pulling for deuce and safe travels to Louisville, brother.

SPEAKER_03:

Definitely, man. Appreciate y'all and look forward to getting back next week. And hopefully, we got some good news on both fronts. On both horns win, and hopefully cars win, and we have some more high takes heading to OU week because we know we we know regardless of who's starting quarterback with OU, they still suck, so it's not gonna matter. Yes, sir.

SPEAKER_09:

Um, we got we're gonna find our time before he gets all started. Hey, we're gonna it's gonna we're gonna have a special segment for you next week for sure.

SPEAKER_03:

Oh my god, that's always a fun week, man. Always a fun week. Always fun.

SPEAKER_09:

Oh god, that is beautiful. That's beautiful, Mike Adams. Much love to you and your family, man. We will definitely talk some Texas OU sooners and Longhorn Hate a week every day.

SPEAKER_03:

Appreciate you, brothers, man. Good seeing y'all, and uh yeah, I'm sure we'll chop it up this week. And and man, it's always hook 'em.

SPEAKER_09:

We'll see you, brother.

SPEAKER_03:

All right, brothers.

SPEAKER_09:

Hey, be good. Yes, sir. This was Coach Carthell, Stephen F. Buddy of mine, Bobby Riggs. Shout out. After the game, Bobby brings his beer. Coach Carthell says, Hold that beer up after that after Stephen F. Austin beat McNey State soundly. What would you caption this?

SPEAKER_04:

Oh man, I don't know. Golly. Uh ax him, that's all. I don't know, man. One word, powerful, to the point.

SPEAKER_09:

That's why we love Stevie Lee. Hey, let's go to uh Hargrove Roofing's new NIL partner, the Texas kicker. He is going to promote Hargrove Roofing in his own way. We'll see you on the other side of this break. What's your life deliberate?

SPEAKER_08:

I'd like to deliver this. I'd like to get him. And then I'd like to click the click.

SPEAKER_09:

Matthew Golden, welcome to the NFL.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, I saw that last night, man. Don't take your eye off the ball or the man.

SPEAKER_09:

Oh. Oh my God. Hey, Golden's a star.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, protect yourself at all times, kid.

SPEAKER_09:

So, real quick, impressed with the Cowboys offense. I thought defensively, not awful, but a tie.

SPEAKER_04:

Man, it feels so icky to wake up the next morning and see that grown men tied a football game. I don't like it at all. We need to change this. We need to make a petition outside at six times. I cannot watch a grown man uh uh NFL game in in a tie. That's just dumb. If the kids don't do it in college, you should not do it in the pros. You're getting allowed.

SPEAKER_09:

Yeah. Should not be allowed. I agree. Hey, shout out, and listen, I'm not biased. I this is the fifth week of the ATX high school football team of the week. The Anderson Trojans, 4-0 for the first time since 2010.

SPEAKER_04:

Yep.

SPEAKER_09:

And guess what? They beat AM Consolidated of State Power and Aggie Land in six overtimes, 42-40. Um, not many people have done that. And for the first time ever, to my knowledge of the history of Anderson Children's Football, they are ranked in the top 10 in the state, number nine as of today.

SPEAKER_06:

Hey Ben, tell me something good.

SPEAKER_09:

We love positivity, and I can't say it enough. Stevie's a positive guy, but you've been very, you've been very as you've grown into this role. I'm very proud of you. You you spit facts, but you're very objective at the same time, and I love it. Love to see it. You yeah, I I see you're frustrated sometimes as a fan, but you keep it real, but you ride down the middle.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah, tell me something good, my brother. Something good, man, is we're starting SEC's conference play this week, man. I am uh looking forward to coming out and uh or or seeing us play against Florida. I um I actually have to go up to Kansas City, Missouri to see my daughter, but um they have an event on Saturday to where they're gonna tailgate for their football game. Well, while I'm out tailgating, I'm definitely gonna watch our game, uh getting ready for their football game. But um, she plays or her team plays on Friday, and then we got uh all these events to with them on uh Saturday. So I'm looking forward to that. Something good, man, as we're about to play in the SEC, and we got a long SEC gauntlet, man. I'm looking forward to it.

SPEAKER_09:

A whole month of no home games for Texas Longhorns. Uh I'm excited, man. And and and to add to that, I don't have anything different, maybe a little bit embrace this. And when as a fan, when they do return home for that thing should be obnoxious when Vanderbilt comes because that's my pick. I think Vanderbilt is gonna be in the mix in November playing for a potential CFP spot. Okay, I I I think it's it's gonna be well worth it.

SPEAKER_04:

So that means you got Bandy beating Bama this week.

SPEAKER_09:

Potentially, yeah. Oh, I do. That's why I put him on that uh upset alert. Alabama's been served, Alabama's been served an upset alert. I do think Alabama's a great team again. But I'll say this it was beautiful. I got to go to my alma mater right here. Um Naganoches, I I I I just blown away by that family, but I want to tell you something that we're now part of the UT system. The construct, you know, when you see construction and new builds and new additions, that's a beautiful sign.

SPEAKER_04:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_09:

I got lost on that campus for the first time in my life.

SPEAKER_04:

Wow.

SPEAKER_09:

I got lost. They are doing some amazing things. The UT system and and and the S of Stephen F. Austin have collaborated, and they have got a big master plan, and it's starting to show it is amazing. 18% increase in student enrollment uh recently. And man, there's a lot of energy around athletics. And shout out to Matt Breyer, the head, new first year head basketball coach at Stephen F. Austin, young guy came from Texas Tech. We've got an interview coming up with him and the new AD talking about how the lower Division I schools, how they're trying to position themselves in this new era. So, shout out to the Stephen F. Austin family and the Nacadoches, East Texas, and to Stevie's family and the great city of Shreeport, Louisiana. And I just mentioned Nacadoches. I got to see the red brick streets again in Nacadochis and to my beautiful hometown of Austin, Texas, and the beautiful hill country. And thank you for watching all of our episodes, sharing, and uh really tuning in and telling all your connections, mamas, friends, whatnot, uh, sharing stories inside the man cave. That's the only way we're gonna grow is if you share this. And we appreciate you, we appreciate the hard grooves, all of our sponsors, everybody for partnering with us. And man, Stevie, I'm just grateful. I'm just grateful for a lot. And to the OG Man Cave boys, that being Harbaugh Harge, Big Mike, and the coach Mo, what do we tell them, Stevie Lee?

SPEAKER_04:

We have to do that.
