Welcome to God's Toolbox the Bible. Today's topic is worry. Yes, worry. You know, anxiety, concern, unease, fearfulness. The Bible makes no secret of it that worry is not what we should do, how we should spend our time. We are specifically told in Matthew 6 and 27 that worry cannot change anything. And in Philippians 4 and 6, we are directed to be anxious for nothing. But that's easier said than done. I tend to be a worrier. I try not to own it, and I certainly don't condone it, but I worry. I worry about family and other people. I worry about things. I worry about life in general. And I worry about myself. But don't judge me, because I'm willing to bet that at some time or another you've been there too. So what do we do when we find that we have put worry on our to-do list and we're checking off the box? Well, remember that verse from Philippians 4 and 6? It says, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving. Present your request to God. That's it. Communicate with God about it. And while you're reaching out, have an attitude of gratitude for all you already have. Because remember, things can always be worse. But you know there are many ways to communicate with God. And sometimes I think that's where we get lost. We think we are so far from God and He's so far away from us, but really He's right there with us. He's with us when we first start to meditate on things and think about what concerns us. He's there when we talk to a trusted friend or a godly counselor in a therapy session, pouring out our souls' desires, fears, and confusion. He's there when we write it down, maybe in our prayer journal. But even if we just jot down a few notes on a napkin in a crowded restaurant, he's there. God is there when we pray to him in secret, just as the scripture tells us to do. And he's there when we work it out in the recesses of our mind and gain his peace, which surpasses all understanding. You see, there are a variety of ways to communicate with our God, and he's available through all of them. So instead of taking a seat in the rocking chair of worry, where we are constantly moving back and forth, but going nowhere, let's do something much better. Let's take our worries, concerns, our uneasiness and anxieties to God in as many ways as we can. God will meet us there, and He promised to supply all our needs. God bless you.
